Reviews for Bishop Elms Motel
Review 1:Breakfast included was nice but coffee was very weak. Needed a little extra like oatmeal to be warm breakfast. Maybe a yogurt.
Review 2:Convenient location, good price, nice staff and mostly pleasant.
Review 3:The staff are extremely friendly. The continental breakfast is perfect and the location is close to main street but far enough out that it stays quiet
Review 4:heater kept rattling in 10 min intervals. Initially guy at check in was a bit rude. Gestured to me to stay outside in 25° wind chill while he took his time with previous customer (plenty room for me to stand and wait inside) then told me to hurry up when i said i needed to check my license plate # to fill out form. never gave me wifi password either.
Review 5:price of location, especially during holiday dates.
Review 6:The staff was so rude. When checking in the guy called me stupid and said I was making him lose business. They only have us one roll of toilet paper for4 people (5 day stay period)
Review 7:The view was nice.
Review 8:Classic Old Time Motel with Charm. Owners are always welcoming and happy to see you. Been staying here for 30+ years and always a great experience. If you need uninterested staff, huge modern rooms and the need to pay 3X as much look elsewhere
Review 9:Cool little "drive-in" motel right in the heart of Bishop. I walked a lot instead of driving around town. Great price for cheap, clean, and cheerful... with character thrown in as a bonus. The rooms were on the smaller size, but I wasn't in Bishop to be inside! And a personal refrigerator would be nice, but I'm not complaining. Very cozy!
Review 10:I loved it, We were going to Yosemite, so we spend one night here, is really good, it has good rooms, coffee, towels, shampoo, complimentary breakfast
Review 11:Location is off the main highway a block or so, and very quiet, hidden behind chain hotels.A simple breakfast of coffee, toast, muffins, etc. is included. Park your car right outside your door.
Review 12:Breakfast was scheduled a little late. As construction workers we start early so a 6:30a breakfast would be more convenient at least on weekdays.
Review 13:quiet and like individual parking for unit. Especially good for work vehicles.
Review 14:Room was a little run down looking, but it was clean. A little pricey for it being off season (October).
Review 15:Off the main street and fairly quiet. Parked right in front of our room.
Review 16:Great old-school retro styled motel, which we found to be comfortable and quiet, as well as offering very fair value for money. Not the last word in modernity, but that wasn't what we were looking for. Would use again.
Review 17:Sunny D instead of Orange juice for breakfast. If you are going to offer breakfast (even just a very basic one), please use quality, surely it wouldn't have cost much more......
Review 18:The owner was very helpful and excellent with local knowledge. Situated in a side street, so good for restaurants, yet away from road noise
Review 19:Older style, very clean motel. Owners were very nice and helpful. Our room was quiet and peaceful and was located a little off the main street so there was no street noise.
Review 20:The bed and pillows were very hard. Otherwise convenient to activities in the area.
Review 21:The 4th of July fireworks and watching the people during the event.
Review 22:The breakfast had only cereal and toast, and both times that we went to get coffee, the pot was empty.
Review 23:Clean, nice accomadations. Helpful staff. Table and chairs outside near the park to enjoy the evening. Air conditioning was needed in June, thank you!
Review 24:The owner/manager is very personable and professional. The room and amenities are just fine and the location is quiet and pleasant. The air conditioner was quiet and effective!
Review 25:I was disappointed that they entered my room when I placed the privacy sign out. They turned the air conditioning off on me so when I came back it was VERY warm and turned off the light so when I came back at night I had to enter the room in the dark. The light switch is not by the door.
Review 26:Decent place to stay for the money if you are traveling through Bishop.
Review 27:I loved the friendly welcome we received upon check-in. The room was spacious and comfortable. Location in Bishop was very good& within walking distance of shops along 395.
Review 28:Never ever book the smoking room! We did because it was a little cheaper and we thought that would be ok for a night, but it was not. It smelled so badly that we wanted to run away immediately. The room looked a little dirty, everything is old. When the weather is bad, the breakfastroom will be too small. The price is okay for what you get (if you do not book the smoking room ). Guests can use a microwave in the breakfast room, you do not have a fridge or a microwave in your room.
Review 29:Hotel looks nice from the outside. Breakfast was ok (do not expect to much, but you have some choice between bread and cereals). You can sit outside if the weather is good. Bishop is a nice little city, good for a stop between death valley and Yosemite national park, but also for hiking. the WiFi worked pretty good.
Review 30:I needed to use the internet and booked because it said it was available. They came to check from the office and when they were there it was available, but as soon as they left, there was not even a server provider .
Review 31:Good stop for an overnight sleep stop
Review 32:1) Owner had a bad attitude. Never had a nice word to say. Never heard a thank you out of him or the wife. 2) The smell of incense all through the motel. I had that smell on my clothes for days. 3) The "breakfast" that was offered was coffee and cold cereal in a small room that the door was open to the outdoors. It was in the 40s overnight. Who wants to sit in the cold eating cold cereal? 4) He overcharged my credit card by $6.00. I think he charged tax twice. I went in when I checked out to have them credit it back to my credit card. The wife tried to fix it but didn't know how. She had to wake him and he came out and refunded the charge. He never said a word to me...not a "sorry", "thanks for staying" or "come back"...well, I won't. 5) The outside is not very well lit and is off the main road. We didn't feel comfortable being out of the room at night.
Review 33:It was a cheap stay. Under $60
Review 34:Everything
Review 35:Nothing. It was terrible, prommised WiFi and breakfast was fraud. That what they called continental breakfast at 7.30 was gonne no coffee,no milk for cereal, and nobody cares, concerning that breakfast time was from 7 to 9.30. The room by itself was dirty, spots on the carpet and sticky floor in the bathroom. If you can go round this places.
Review 36:The bed was not as comfortable as I would like but adequate.
Review 37:The price was good. The motel is cute and the rooms were clean and adequate. Free Wifi was a plus.
Review 38:Rooms are smaller than average, but OK for the money. Breakfast was more minimalist than I cared for.
Review 39:Great location. Off of the main drag and quiet, yet still fairly centered within town and an easy walk to various restaurants and a nice park.
Review 40:Don't try to sleep in here. My room was between the Elms Motel and the Travelodge parking so there was so much noise on both sides of my room in the morning there wasn't a single morning I was able to sleep in past 6 am. The ice machine was right next to my room so all through the night and morning I kept being woken up by other guests getting ice.
Review 41:The location is great.
Review 42:breakfast was almost non-existent, just some old cereal and a piece of bread. The place is very dirty! Towels were not very well washed, satins everywhere, smells bad.
Review 43:nothing
Review 44:Manager was very unpleasant ; tiny breakfast room grim and dirty. There are far better alternatives in Bishop with friendly people and coffee in the morning. Avoid if possible.
Review 45:Location and bed
Review 46:This hotel is run down and very poor service. Their continental breakfast is two types of cereals, coffee, water, and something called danish wrapped in plastic that could survive a nuclear holocaust. The beds are uncomfortable and the shower is so small you have to crouch. Plus wears hoes everything including the shower. You might catch something. I was crawling all night thinking I might get bed dogs.
Review 47:Location only.
Review 48:Parking is assigned and if you have a large vehicle it could be a tight fit. Continental breakfast is very skimpy
Review 49:You can walk to Jacks and to Schats. Just off 395 yet quiet. Just needed a place to clean up and sleep that was clean and this place fit the bill Value is big
Review 50:The breakfast was ridiculous, the same juice and milk for days in a row. Bad muffins, and old cornflakes. That's all there was. So don't count on a good breakfast - but that's not why we were there anyway.
Review 51:The location, off the main highway. Very quiet, and a very nice silent electric room heater - very necessary in January. Very good price. For this price the bathroom and room where actually fairly pleasant and in good condition! Comfort was good.
Review 52:the toilet when refilling squealed very loudly, the showerhead was more practical for a munchkin from the wizard of oz, parking was very tight, ok for a small car but tight for a full size truck
Review 53:value, location, you could walk to main street restaurants and shops
Review 54:We were here in winter and the room heater was so loud/noisy that we could not sleep even with ear plugs!!! We had a horrible night. It could have been a problem only with the room we stayed in. I don't know. The rest was fine considering the low price we paid. However we will not stay here again.
Review 55:I knew I had booked a smoking room (cheaper) but didn't realize how overpowering and disgusting the smell could be. If you're considering a smoking room because of the price, I'd say pay a little more to get a non-smoking room. Real negatives: no microwave in room and towels smelled gross.
Review 56:Very strong shower head (might be a little too strong for some), comfortable bed, late check-in available, and close parking spot to the side or in front of your room. Walking distance to two gas stations at the end of the road off of Main St/the 395 and McDonald's.
Review 57:Minimum breakfast. To much starch and sugar. Comparable to other motels in this price range. Good coffee
Review 58:Great location, within walking distance to many restaurants. Friendly staff. Quiet room next to park, enjoyed the ducks and geese. Liked being able to park right next to room.
Review 59:There was a heater in the room that only ran for 10 minutes at a timeand then blasted cold air. We could not sleep at all as the room wasabout 50 degrees. We slept in our jackets and hats! We went to themanager as soon as we saw that there was a problem to see if we couldget a space heater, but he just said to open the bathroom door as theissue was the thermostat getting too hot. Too hot!! It was never above60 degrees in the room! Absolutely unacceptable. Bed was also veryuncomfortable, towels threadbare and too cold to shower in bathroom.
Review 60:Good location in Bishop California.
Review 61:Unfortunately the bed left something to be desired and the breakfast options were limited.
Review 62:The room was quaint with a genuine-feeling bathroom and plenty of space. I appreciated the cottage feel of the rooms and the private parking.
Review 63:Wi-Fi did not work. Forget about breakfast; it is hard to believe that there was no tea available. The breakfast room was very cold.
Review 64:Good value for money, considering room facilities. Good location. Friendly stuff, clean and quiet.
Review 65:The unit was small, especially the bathroom
Review 66:The owner was very helpful and accommodating with our late check-in and even moved his car so we could park our boat. The unit was clean and the bed was comfortable.I'll go back.
Review 67:No counter space in bathroom. I had two men talking for hours outdoors where it echoed around the cottages while I was trying to sleep (not the motel's fault). The flooring needs a couple of door jams to clean finish the edges.
Review 68:Quiet location just a block off the main highway. Small and quaint, a nice place to stay. It was very clean. Breakfast was basic. I would stay there again.
Review 69:Front desk staff was very indifferent to us.... attitude bordering on rude. Air conditioning unit was extremely loud and the showerhead leaked continually. Value for price was not very good.
Review 70:Located near a good Japanese dining across the street.
Review 71:Rooms could do with an freshen up in the next year or two. Room was tight but not a biggie my only grudge why many motels that still haven't updated old CRT tv's to Flat screen tv's. Its 2014 for goodness sake. They are not expensive and it makes such a big difference. Using the word deluxe is not an excuse.
Review 72:Comfy beds Free breakfast Cable TV Good wifi A good place to stay for a night or two passing through. Would stay here again for sure.
Review 73:Shower pressure, rooms could use a microwave.
Review 74:Rooms situated in sets of 2, making it a quiet stay. I've stayed here 2 different weeks for work and hardly even heard my neighbors. The price is relatively close to some run down motels in town, but this motel is a couple steps up in quality. Managers are very friendly and accommodating. I plan on staying here as long as I'm working up here.
Review 75:It seems that there is few good hotels in Bishop. The city is good, but this hotel is insufficient for the price.
Review 76:Location. We could continue to take a trip easily, because this hotel is not far from east entrance of Yosemite.
Review 77:The price was reasonable. The manager was a gentleman. Restaurants were in walking distance, including Schatz (?) bakery. (That's a big ol' place, one-of-a -kind.) There's also a Denny's, a McDonald's, and a steak house within walking distance. This place is off the main strip, so it has little traffic noise. There is a park nearby. You can take you bake-goods and coffee/tea and relax on benches surrounded by grass.
Review 78:Roomy it wasn't, but seriously, who cares? Had a quick look at the 'continental breakfast' and elected to hit the road and snack until real food came into view.
Review 79:Loved driving up and parking at my front door. A/C worked well and was unobtrusive. Excellent blackout curtains assured a good night's sleep, and the bed was comfy. Wifi was criticized in other reviews but worked perfectly in my room.
Review 80:Labor day weekend made the price to be too high, otherwise it eould have been a good deal. No fridge. Loud aircon.
Review 81:Clean room, ice machine, breakfast (even just continental)
Review 82:Lack of variety for breakfast even though it was a continental breakfast.
Review 83:Shower, what was on TV listed at the bottom of the screen for each station. Semi convenient parking for each room.
Review 84:the little old carpet in the rooms and the air conditioning which does not function in one room
Review 85:the situation far away the main street, the kindness of the owner and his advice to eat , the breakfast was simple but correct
Review 86:Great centerlized location to start from to see all Owens Valley area has to offer. We love to hike, explore, and bird watch. We come to this area two or three time a year to decompress.
Review 87:wifi awfully slow
Review 88:parking close to door nice breakfast free wifi
Review 89:Aspect of the motel, location, breakfast
Review 90:Fine venue for one night
Review 91:place is really old. scary bedspreads.
Review 92:location
Review 93:The bed was so comfy and the room was a little old but really clean. Great for the price. The owners were nice. Will definitely stay again.
Review 94:Very cozy.loved everything. Definitely going back...
Review 95:Clean, comfortable, and close to everything. Great value!
Review 96:Great place super nice
Review 97:Nothing
Review 98:Simple older motel. Clean and comfortable for excellent price.
Review 99:I've never stayed here before. It far surpasses others in the area in all respects. Just off the main highway keeps things more quiet
Review 100:parking could be better. tricky to negotiate with a large vehicle
Review 101:location, quiet, great value
Review 102:Excellent value, clean and quiet.
Review 103:Toilet was broken.
Review 104:Good deal.
Review 105:Quiet. Off main street.
Review 106:kind of dated, but affordable
Review 107:good value for a decent place to sleep
Review 108:No bath tub or refrigerator
Review 109:Not expensive, comfortable, clean and close to hiking and fishing areas.
Review 110:If the breakfast could be a little richer it would be better.
Review 111:It is quiet and has all the necessities.
Review 112:Room quite small but fine for one night
Review 113:Location.staff good rooms clean
Review 114:Bathroom electrical outlet wasn't working. Just an old place.
Review 115:The parking was real close to our doorstep. Safe location. Cottage style.
Review 116:Very good location, easy to park, clean
Review 117:Overpriced, sad breakfast and old (all be it clean) accomodation
Review 118:Good location
Review 119:Shower nozzle was a bit low in my shower. Furniture a bit worn.
Review 120:Only a block or two from the main area of town. Not bad for a night
Review 121:good staff and well organized
Review 122:Like a little home! Good Location on our route from Yosemite to Death Valley.
Review 123:Great stay for a vacation. I would stay again.
Review 124:The doors open for the complementary breakfast late around 8:00am.
Review 125:Clean and comfortable room for the price.
