Reviews for Koyao Island Resort
Review 1:We stayed in a studio which was beautiful, but over the bar and next to the dining area. We didn't think this would be a problem until we realised the room did not have complete wall to ceiling coverage due to the (tree house like) design so it was in effect noisy once the day began (at around 6am!!).
Review 2:Beautiful location and great views. Enjoyed the use of bicycles and the free boat trip on offer the day we stayed.
Review 3:Problems with shower. No hot water and low water pressure.
Review 4:Very helpful staff. It was a birthday celebration and the staff went all the way out to surprise.
Review 5:Overpriced. The maids ignore the 'do not disturb' sign and the cocktails are pretty bad!
Review 6:Great location, friendly staff and a lovely resort. Overall we had a great time here.
Review 7:Nothing
Review 8:Everything was perfect, tasteful room with everything you could need. Peaceful location, excellent mosquito net, so could sleep with doors open to the sounds of the sea, crickets and frogs. Staff lovely, helpful and discrete.set on nice little beach, amazing view of stunning scenery from infinity pool.
Review 9:Dinner was expensive and pretentious.
Review 10:This hotel is romantic and cozy. It is located on a beautiful beach, it has a great pool. Food is fantastic at the restaurant.
Review 11:spa, bar and restaurant are expensive even for European price standards. Getting to the island is also a bit expensive for Thai standards (500THB for a taxi from airport to harbour, 200THB per person for speedboat to the island)
Review 12:Koyao Island Resort is paradise on earth on the beautiful island of Koh Yao Noi. All 'rooms' are private bungalows, spread out across the domain and near the beach, infinity pool, free kayaks, hammocks and more. There's an amazing sense of detail e.g. the mosquito-team that brings incense to your room every day, a drink upon arrival plus someone brings your luggage to your 'room' for you, free mountainbikes, flashlight and mosquito spray in the room .. Our bungalow had an outdoor and indoor shower, lots of free water. Breakfast buffet is amazing but what makes it even better is the extra menu where from you can order anything you want as an extra for free (e.g. pancakes, thai breakfast, european breakfast, omelet,...) Staff is extremely friendly and helps you to their best abilities. There's a spa, a bar (happy hour from 5 till 6pm) and a restaurant at the resort. There are free excursions, yoga classes and a movie on Fridays... But most importantly the VIEW... the sea, the islands in the distance,... you could look at it all day while chilling at the pool (which is what we did most of the time). We've greatly enjoyed our stay at the resort and would recommend anyone to come visit this piece of paradise on Earth to relax after an exhausting trip through Thailand!
Review 13:- nothing
Review 14:- Incredible setting, fabulous view, lovely garden - Lots of space between units - Friendly staff - Great massages - Free sea kayaks & bikes - Nice walkway in nearby mangrove - Management organizes many activities, such as an amazing half day free boat excursion in the national park just off the hotel: by far the best excursion during our trip in Thailand - incredible room and bathroom - great breakfast - quiet island, away from crowds and traffic -...
Review 15:Beautiful villa in a great location. Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast enjoyed at the main resort was varied and very good. Kitty, who looks after the villa, did a great job looking after us -Thanks!
Review 16:Mosquitoes - but its thailand and free repellent is provided daily in the villas. wifi coverage was poor and slow apart from near the reception and dining area
Review 17:The scenery is stunning. The staff are lovely and extremely helpful. The villas are quiet and secluded with Stunning views ( except villa #6 ). Free bicycles and kayaks. Food in the restaurant is A-mazingly delicious ( and cheap). Great selection of tours. Not a party island - peaceful and relaxing HEAVEN!!
Review 18:Sea is not transparent at all. Lots of noise during our stay in main area of the hotel and from the near by construction. Food is so so: one day it was good, one day i had to return the dish back to the kitchen. No wifi in the room, no TV channels, no hot water in the shower. actually it was so much to complain about that we just did not complain about most of it. Mistake in billing on check out and staff stopped being friendly after i found it, which was not cool.
Review 19:Locations is special with unique view on many islands. gardens of the hotel are nice and beach is clean. Staff was very friendly.
Review 20:If staying a bit longer, breakfast could do with a little bit more variety especially for the rates of the resort. Overall food at restaurant was good.
Review 21:Extra free of charge activities organised by resort were really good. Resort is nice and quiet and if you like to get away, bikes are available.
Review 22:All in all, a very nice place, not much to complain about. Things that could easily be fixed while keeping the eco-friendly, back to nature approach and serene vibe: transfers were expensive for what they were - smooth on the island, but at the piers, we had to climb over other boats to get to ours. There were lots of moskitos - more smoke coils would help. The beach was beautiful - it would be nice if it got cleaned of fallen leaves and branches. Staff mowing the lawn early on a Sunday morning could be avoided.
Review 23:Beautiful place for relaxation. Wonderful views of the islands. Well kept grounds and garden. Lots of wood and other natural building materials, common areas had a nice personal touch with antiques and handcrafted items. Lovely pool area. Good food and presentation (no plastic containers etc.) Friendly staff. Excellent spa service.
Review 24:By comparaison to local food the food at the resort was a bit expensive
Review 25:The resort went above and beyond what we expected. They offered discounted boat trips and FREE mountain bike and kayak rentals. Also they had a cocktail evening and open air movie night with popcorn all for free!
Review 26:Driveway in is hard to spot!
Review 27:Very close to beach, safe for young children. Even though each unit was occupied they are spread apart, so we seemed to have the place to ourselves. Self contained but with full hotel facilities, so you could do as much or as little as you want! We are reasonably healthy eaters and the included breakfast could be tailored to suit! Mountain Bikes (some with children's seats) and a range of Kayaks (a tri that was big enough for 2 adults and 2 under 6yo children) included in the price! Excellent dinner choices, a 1000 baht italian champagne that was very good for the price! Great massage!
Review 28:In all honesty, I could not find anything to dislike except perhaps 2 things to note: - The road leading off from the main to the hotel could be improved. - The villas and main hotel are separated by another property under construction (may get some noise)
Review 29:I enjoyed most : - The villa - Infinity pool - Staff friendliness & helpfulness - Staff attentiveness - The views from the hotel - The location - Th gardens & surroundings
Review 30:Long waits for food at restaurant when busy.
Review 31:Very relaxing, beautiful view & very comfortable bungalows. All staff were very friendly & helpful.
Review 32:Stayed 7 days in July with my wife and kids (age 4 and 7). Loved the location, beautiful clean beach you almost have for yourselves, quiet unspoiled island. We were looking for a remote relaxing hotel without the “all-inclusive” resort feeling typical for larger hotels - this was the perfect place. Not too many guests, excellent restaurant, we ended up eating there practically every day, and still some good options available (free bikes and kayaks, scooter rent, massage, long-boat tours).
Review 33:The mosquitoes the prices a bit to expensive for massages and excursions
Review 34:Very nice bungalow, quiet, comfortable, close nature very good massages at the spa
Review 35:I didn't like the critical articles written about this resort complaining about the lack of hair dryers, or the isolation. We didn't like seeing the island being slowly but surely polluted by the locals.
Review 36:We knew the scenery would be amazing. We knew it would be cooler than the Mainland. We knew it would be quiet due to the season. We knew it could be wet and rough. We knew it was up to us to make our own fun. We knew we didn't have to leave the Resort. It was fabulous. The grounds, the rooms, the restaurant, the staff, the activities, the ability to explore , the views.
Review 37:Wonderful environment and atmosphere, totally serene. A truly stunning resort, calm and peaceful.
Review 38:Incredible staff and a wonderful location for a relaxing and quiet holiday with young children
Review 39:There was a waitress who wasn't very nice to us.
Review 40:Loved everything about our stay.
Review 41:A beautiful resort with really friendly and helpful staff.
Review 42:This property is heaven! You can see the sea from your bed!
Review 43:None..
Review 44:The beautiful location and our room. And they upgraded us to the Beach Villa.. Stunning.. the room was totally unique and beautiful.
Review 45:Nothing really! Maybe the mosquito that bite us.. :)
Review 46:All!!!
Review 47:Food was good but Thai dishes average. Take heavy duty mossie spray
Review 48:Room good , nice location
Review 49:The food service is very slow. Take 30 minutes just for one simple phadthai to come.
Review 50:Very nice quiet idealic place
Review 51:so closeness to the beach
Review 52:Don´t stay too many days on the Island! 5-6 days is perfect. Not for small children!
Review 53:Food and location on the Island is perfect
Review 54:I paid for an 'rollaway bed' and was provided a mattress on the floor. I didn't feel that it was worth the charge I paid for the extra person.
Review 55:The staff in the front office and the restaurant were very helpful and friendly. The beds were very comfortable. The hotel is undergoing renovations which surprised us on arrival, however the staff generously offered free massages to all of the adults in our group as an apology for the disruptions.
Review 56:We liked every thing
Review 57:It's like beeing at the paradise, the location is perfect , we arrived by boat directly on the beach .The staf is very friendly. We stayied at a villa , and we could see the beach and the sun rise from our bed.The out door shower is wonderfull. We had a grill seafood diner by the pool, wich was very good and not so expensive...We had a late check out ,and the staff helped us with the taxi ( tuc-tuc) to take us to the pier , and found a boat to take us to yao yai. When we left , the manager , Donnie, came to say goodbye, it was nice .
Review 58:No dislikes, but be aware that as far as I know, only the four two-room villas have air con. So if you are an air con enthusiast (!) these are the ones to go for.
Review 59:A superbly secluded position, with large, very well shaded grounds looking out over 300 metres of one of the best beaches on the island. There is good swimming to be had here - even at low water - and not all beaches offer this. There are wonderful views to the East and the islands a few kms away, so the sunrises are well worth getting up early for. This resort has a very relaxed and friendly atmosphere, and the staff are very obliging. The two bedroom villas with air con (where we stayed) are very comfortable with large high ceilinged rooms, and a refreshingly "minimalist" style of decoration. All in all, an excellent week!
Review 60:Mosquitoes. Ensure you have the mossy net done up SUPER tight! Serioulsy! Hardly a bad word to say about the place.
Review 61:location location location - totally remote and the perfect place to relax and simply unwind. The canoe's were great fun, although some of the buckles were rusted off. Happy hour and the live music was unreal! The food was the best in Thailand! Fresh and varied. Very tastey. The whole place was the most memorable place on our whole trip, and for all the good reasons. You won't be disappointed. The only thing we unfortunately did not do was hire a scooter to explore the island. That is a must do!
Review 62:Expensive for what is provided
Review 63:excellent location, pool with a view and nice eco-friendly big room. The staff helped a lot with our -special- check out needs
Review 64:The restaurant of the hotel is rather average. There are much better restaurants on the island.
Review 65:Simply beautiful hotel at a magnificent location with stunning views on Phang Nga Bay.
Review 66:There are some works on the parcel near the resort. This was a bit noisy.
Review 67:This is a wonderful place, out of time. Not many tourists on the island. Really nice!
Review 68:The restaurant staff were not always very attentive and one morning opened the restaurant 10-15 minutes late. Restaurant staff don't speak English anywhere near as well as the reception staff. The resort had lots of families with very young children (1-3 years) - screaming children is not my idea of a romantic relaxing get away. A lot of the vegetarian food options are quite average. The island itself is very dirty with rubbish everywhere.
Review 69:The location was stunning- our villa was only 20m from the beach. The pool right on the beach was great. Very close to Phang Nga bay for tours. Free use of kayaks is great also. The hotel arranged a surprise birthday cake for my partners birthday. Admin staff were great.
Review 70:Unfortunately, if you are scared of frogs and lizards, that may not be the best spot to go for.
Review 71:Wonderful location, like in the postcard. Amazing concept of open bungalows. Bikes, Canoes, Motorcycles are always available.
Review 72:There is some building going on in the middle of the resort so it was not as quiet as expected and a bit intrusive but it was not too much of an issue
Review 73:Right next to the sea Able to arrange boat trips Bicycles & kayaks available to borrow for free Helpful staff
Review 74:There was no aircon in the beach villas, the villa isn't completely sealed, mosquitos, bugs and lizards can come and go as they please. You have a mosquito net over your bed, but still mosquitos managed to get. You cannot use the villa lights at night, it attracts the bugs and mozzies. No WiFi in villas, only in restaurant and bar area.
Review 75:Where the resort is located.
Review 76:Nothing, it coudn't have been better.
Review 77:EVERYTHING!!! A beautiful and relaxing place to stay. Great food, staff, surroundings, facilities, and free kayaks and bicycles to adventure with. A lovely quiet low key island where tourism can be escaped. Very much recommended, we will be back!
Review 78:- Cockroaches in room - Value for money. It's an expensive "make believe" resort. e.g. "Private dinner" isn't private. "Quiet" resort is not quiet at all, you need to listen to the movie nights of the resort next to it.
Review 79:- Location
Review 80:the restaurant is disappointing. even the breakfast is below average. rent some scooters and go eat in town (there are plenty of good options).
Review 81:incredible location right on the beach, with wonderful views of limestone formations in the Andaman sea. beautiful! for us, koh yao noi was the perfect island. very relaxed and not crowded at all, but enough going on to entertain yourself. stayed in an a/c villa. these are huge, perfect for a family of four, and very private. it was just two of us on our honeymoon, so we didn't really need all that space, but it was nice to have it.
Review 82:Hotel was excellent, fantastic location on the beach with spacioussurroundings. For relaxation within a non commercial Thai island , thiscannot be bettered for value. Will visit again
Review 83:Some of the staff, particularly in the evening, were more interested in going home and there was no enthusiasm to look after and serve the guests. The Bar was supposed to be open till 11pm but anytime after 9pm we were made to feel unwelcome and staff kept disappearing. Sadly this happened frequently.
Review 84:On the whole it was quiet and peaceful, and most of the staff were attentive. Also having hired a scooter it gave us the opportunity to explore and to come andgo as we wished. The staff in the restaurant and in our chalet were excellent.
Review 85:I really enjoyed my stay, however if you don't feel comfortable withgeckos and bats, it may be better to avoid this hotel since therooms are open.
Review 86:The scenery is superb, relaxing and idyllic. The hotel offers excellentconditions.
Review 87:Whats not to love about this place! Everything from the staff to our room was perfect. We had an amazing view in a stunning location and it was definitely the 4 most relaxing days of our holiday. If R&R away from the hectic touristic spots of Thailand is what you want, then this is the place to go to!
Review 88:The food wasn't that great and there wasn't really anywhere else you could eat within walking distance other than Six Senses which was very expensive.
Review 89:It was a real getaway resort, great if you didn't want to do anything for a few days. Accommodation was really comfortable and different as there are no keys in the resort and the villa is open. Nice outdoor shower as well as one inside. One of the best views I've seen anywhere in the world. The Manager and Assistant Manager were very welcoming.
Review 90:More could probably be done to keep insects and bugs away. Might not be to everyone's preference. Also more fans in the rooms, air circulation is pretty poor.
Review 91:I liked the quietness and location of the hotel on the Island.
Review 92:Only 2 things. The place could need a little paint, and the fridge wasdirty. But it didn't really matter to me, I would do it again, in aheartbeat.
Review 93:Peaceful, tranquillity. Excellent.
Review 94:breakfast could be slow and not great choice
Review 95:the location is fantastic , with decent beach on the doorstep we had the open style bungalow which is a different kind of experience food in evening is good at reasonable price
Review 96:This place was the best part of our honeymoon. The location of the resort is just amazing. Right in the middle of nowhere, infinity swimming pool with astonishing views of limestone islands. What you can see in the Internet is nothing compared to the real beauty of this place. Florian the manager welcomed us at our arrival and we really felt like at home. Our room was located on the first floor and had great views from garden, pool and sea.The staff is incredibly friendly, helpful and available. They will do their best to satisfy and anticipate your needs! The restaurant offers quality food for very affordable prices. Our best memory will be the sunset barbecue in an island, just me, my husband and the chef!!! Thank you Sami for this wonderful Time we had!!! This place was Paradise.
Review 97:The food at the restaurant was not great. There is better Thai-Food onthe island and also much cheaper. As one person is allergic to gluten weasked for gluten-free meals. They were able to provide. However, theytried to offer us bread made from rye which is not gluten-free. Thisshowed how much they really know about this allergy.
Review 98:We liked the extraordinary, nature-driven room with sea view, the pool(small but nice) and the island in general.
Review 99:We found nothing to complain about in 8 days! In fact we cancelled ournext booking and stayed on for another four days! We were originallystaying for four days.
Review 100:The resort has the most beautiful location I have ever seen the viewfrom the hotel towards the incredible rocks out to sea is fantasticthe rooms are lovely and very spaced out and peaceful the fooddelicious and the staff charming in fact the whole island is aparadice and quite unspoilt if you like peace, beauty, and wonderfulbeaches look no further if you like loud music nightclubs and shoppingtry somewhere else!!
Review 101:super relaxing location, beautiful garden, amazing villas, fair prices and friendly staff. our high light on our thailand trip.
Review 102:5 star price based on location but 3 star based on service and amenities.
Review 103:Lovely location
Review 104:Beautiful resort, fantastic views, friendly staff
Review 105:It was a really beautiful place and the staff were amazing.
Review 106:The welcoming service & ultra friendly staff.
Review 107:Private dining was perfect for a romantic birthday celebration.
Review 108:No air-cond, the fans weren't very powerful
Review 109:Right on the beach, very in touch with nature, outdoor shower
Review 110:The best hiden secret i have ever discovered. Highly recommened
Review 111:Equipment masks snorkels, racquet etc is tired
Review 112:Fantastic setting Family Friendly
Review 113:Excellent location, very friendly staff, quiet sea, great view
