Reviews for Mountain View Motel

Review 1:Shower room wasnt comfortable

Review 2:Electric was out howe er stuff let me get in the room cirst. If it was big hotel....they will let me wait at the lobby. Kindly they gave me a room and cheked in after we got light back. I will tell my friend to go to that motel when they visit Bishop.

Review 3:The stairs up to room 2006 were a little scary coming down due to the slant of the step and the width of the stair.

Review 4:Location was great and breakfast was easy by the pool

Review 5:I paid extra for having a pet, but the carpet wasn't cleaned from the prior pet. There were several big spots all over the carpet.

Review 6:The location was great! Loved that there is an area for pets. Continental breakfast was okay, some fruit (bananas, apples, oranges) would have been nice.

Review 7:Room could be painted and a couple of holes in the wall should be fixed. Breakfast needs to begin at 6 am not 7.

Review 8:Location was on the 168 which is a much quieter road than 395. Air conditioner super effective. Cleaning people very good. Price was nice. TV channel select was good for this type of priced motel.

Review 9:The shower was a closet not big at all. The toiletries were substandard. My biggest complete is the the breakfast. nothing more then mini muffins and white Bread. Not that I begrudge eating with the maids. They were there every day at 9 and took up one of the two tables. I am a paying guest and should have a table to sit at. Guest were walking away because they could not sit down. No fruit We brought our own bagels and cream cheese to toast and shared with other guest.

Review 10:The hotel was clean and the beds were comfortable. Different areas on the property that you could sit outside. Refrigerator big and held a lot of our food.

Review 11:No usable outlets. Lamp did not work. No screen on bathroom window so did not feel comfortable leaving window open and had to use air conditioner.

Review 12:Parking lot was spacious. Clerk named Martin was quite pleasant. Ice machine.

Review 13:Not very clean. Very outdated setup. No coffee maker or coffee available except at breakfast time. No refrigerator. Sparse continental breakfast. Not close to restaurant. Poorly done repairs.

Review 14:Nice size room. Good wifi. One of the cheapest in town.

Review 15:We arrived after 9pm and was disappointed when observed that bathroom facilities not in good state (clogged drain).

Review 16:Good location, close to center of city.

Review 17:Big markets are about 2-3 miles from motel

Review 18:Room was big, clean and comfortable. Motel has also nice pool nad car park. Price include intercontinental breakfast.

Review 19:Very slow drain in bathroom sink, marginal cleanliness, carpet needs replacing, phone in office was never answered, breakfast was marginal

Review 20:Dog friendly, fish washing sink next to our room was very convenient (for cleaning dog bowl) since the bathroom sink was very slow to drain; bed was comfortable, compound was well lit with a place to walk the dog

Review 21:Hundreds of bugs, both inside and outside room, rickety stairwell withuneven stairs to 2nd floor, dripping shower that would not turn off evenwith excessive force, outside traffic noise, see through window next toshower with a full upper body view of someone leaving the shower fromjust 50 feet of street traffic. The shower clogged and wouldn'tdrain. Ran out of toilet paper with minimal use. Spent time killinginsects when we should have been enjoying the room. The"continental breakfast" consisted of generic cornflakes, generic bread, Sunny Delight, and generic microscopic poppy seedmuffins. Staff showed little interest other than collecting payment uponarrival. For the price paid, we were severely disappointed.

Review 22:It was better than sleeping in a tent. The roof didn't leak, butthat was about all that was good.

Review 23:Wi-Fi was not working for Iphones in my room. Ok for Android and Laptop. I asked to solve the problem at the motel staff but he said: "this is a problem of yours". Really bad and rude staff!

Review 24:Breakfast and hotel was good!

Review 25:but then, a typical american motel experience :) could have been a bit cleaner

Review 26:a typical american motel - exactly what we were looking for...facilities were ok, and the room was spacious

Review 27:Stairs were broken, room was not fully stalked, had to ask room service for soap and face cloths. Breakfast was minimal.

Review 28:It was available at the last minute.

Review 29:WiFi was slow. Pages loaded much faster when I turned WiFi off and used my phone connection instead. Breakfast room is very small and crowded between 7 and 8 AM. Curtains did not close completely.

Review 30:The price was the lowest on booking.com when I booked.

Review 31:Pool was out of order, respectively seemed to have been closed by Health & Safety Dept. -Didn't seem like it was going to be maintained and opened again any time, soon.

Review 32:Beautiful views

Review 33:Facilities and rooms seemed to be run down. No staff available at night, and lobby was locked during business hours on one occasion I tried. WiFi password was not provided at check in, and no one answered the phone. A bunch of old TVs were piled up in the parking lot at the time I stayed there. Location was inconvenient. At the time of this writing the hotel is tagged 3 stars on booking.com. I'd say 2 max.

Review 34:The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. The TV had recently been upgraded to a flat screen. The room was quiet.

Review 35:No one in office to check me in. The maid saw me & dashed up, unlocked the door & checked me in. I' m not sure what continent the continental breakfast comes from, tiny muffin W/ a sign that said "Take only one, please" (it was only 11/2 inches tall & wide)

Review 36:Good location, quiet. Staff was friendly.

Review 37:Staff not at all nice. Everything was an effort. We booked this motel because it had a pool for the children to relax after a long drive. Arrived to find pool closed for cleaning in the middle of the afternoon. Finally allowed us to use the pool at 8.30pm and told it closed at ten. Closed sign remained on pool, think it stays there all the time. Nothing pleasant to say about our overnight there.

Review 38:Nothing

Review 39:The air conditioning unit did not work right. The room was always hot all day and all night long. The bathroom facilities were poor nature. Your shower curtain rod frll and struck my son in the head while taking a shower.

Review 40:The location of the motel with centrally located for fishing and outdoor activities

Review 41:Owner called me racist and would not let me see the room first. said he had my card and money and didn't have to show the room. I explained that the reasons were for my wife as she was handicap. He finally gave me a key to the room and none of the rooms are equip for handicap and there was stains and spots on the rugs. bathroom had mold in crevices. I returned the key and said no way as my wife could injure herself and after several exchanges of words and I said I would cancel and I would fight the charges he agreed to cancel the card and he did as todate. I am not a racist and have no ill will towards Mexicans or any other heritage or race. I am sorry he feels that way.

Review 42:N/A

Review 43:The pool was out of action and we weren't given a decent reason for this - they did inform us of this as we checked in but it was too late notice for us to find an alternative place to stay (in 38 degrees heat). The 'breakfast' was laughable and the wi-fi constantly dropping in and out.

Review 44:There is a great restaurant called Sage over the road. Despite the facilities at the time, the Mountain View was clean and tidy.

Review 45:It was just a nightmare... Cockroaches on the carpet, on the ceiling, on the night table... Staff detached. Terrible bed.

Review 46:Bishop is a good location to sleep for those who travel between the Yosemite National Park and the Death Valley

Review 47:They advertised a pool, it was closed for some reason, asked for a bottom floor when our reservation was made, gave us a upstairs room n said take it or leave it. 2 small towels, 1 roll of to tolite paper, con breakfast consist of one item par person, there is soooooo much more...

Review 48:Nothing.

Review 49:WiFi was terrible. Nobody from the staff cares about the breakfast - like first come, first get something and selection is really poor.

Review 50:Room and bed was very good.

Review 51:Pool was closed in high season. Motel 2 á 3 times too expensive we prepaid. Because the location is a mousetrap we must choose such a place just to sleep on our trip. Breakfast is verry verry poor.

Review 52:Airco worked well

Review 53:Room for 6 people & there were only 2 towels. The towels smelled a little too. There were 2 futons & a rollaway but only enough sheets for 2 of the beds. The futons had a lump in the middle of them. Breakfast was all gone when we got there at 8:30. No more muffins, juice, plates, knives or spoons. Coffee was terrible.

Review 54:Big Queen suite! Very old school.

Review 55:We booked a king room, but when we got there all they had left was asingle queen bed room. Unacceptable! It was the worst night sleep we hadon our two week honeymoon road trip. When we complained that we weresupposed to have a king bed, no solution or discount was given. Thebathroom was old, the a/c didn't work well and we woke up in themiddle of the night in a sweat. The carpet was old and stained and Iwouldn't walk on it in bare feet. Grossest motel of the trip.

Review 56:It was the only available room within close proximity of Mammoth.

Review 57:Everything was fine!

Review 58:We needed a place the last minute to escape the rain during our camping trip. Mountain View was a life saver. The guy also allowed us to check in early.

Review 59:The room was verry smelly and in a bad condition. There were holes in the walls and in the bathroomdoor. After complaining about the smell to the reception, the owner lied that he is not smelling anything and that we either stay in to room or leave without any refund. That was the worst room and service on our whole trip.

Review 60:ac unit could barely keep up with the 95 degree temperatures outside. finally got cool at 4AM. no microwave inside the unit.

Review 61:We understood it would be an older property but there could be more spent on maintenance and refurbishments to show pride of ownership. I've paid more for a room and gotten less so for the location and price is worked out for our one night say nicely.

Review 62:Could not contact motel by phone to make a request...when I asked about it the proprietor said it's not worth the effort since all reservations are made online (who cares what else those fussy customers may want). It wasn't a huge deal, I mean we're not looking for a 4 or 5 star experience, but it seemed a little tacky.

Review 63:Cheapest place in town at the time of booking, which is all we were looking for. After all was said and done we paid $102/night, which is ridiculous, but we paid it so there ya go.

Review 64:The stairs were uneven and slanted. One must be extra careful to avoid slipping and falling. There was no coffee in the rooms and other amenities were scarce. The price was excessive for what one received.

Review 65:The facility was not on a main street and was quiet.

Review 66:We were greeted with "take it or go somewhere else". Perhaps the host had experienced some criticism recently, but it wasn't necessary to pass it on. The pool had been closed by the health department. The room was a good size, but older. The stairs were dangerously tilted downward, you had to be careful carrying cases.

Review 67:We felt the motel needed some work in the rooms, particularly the shower room. Because of this we felt the fee we paid was excessive. The breakfast was not worth anything extra for the price we paid, and the pool was not habitable.

Review 68:Although the room was clean, there were a lot of ants. Pool closed.

Review 69:If you're just passing through Bishop and staying for one night this is a good motel. No noise from the neighbours. Basic breakfast and room.

Review 70:Millions of little beetles out side our door dead and alive. Also some inside our room as well as lots of ants in our waste basket and op the wall. Told the desk clerk and he just shrugged it off. They were in my hair! I thought he would give us a discount, since he didn't I am giving a poor review.

Review 71:Price...location

Review 72:Pool was closed roach in drawer ants bug infestation guy was very rude No knowledge of fishing spots if pool is closed list it if there are bugs because of drought list it .shower small n cracking on floor

Review 73:The bed

Review 74:Complimentary breakfast opens late, if you're on a fishing trip there is no access to coffee before 7. Pool was closed by health department

Review 75:Location is good

Review 76:reception does not open until 3pm and was not open in the morning. There is a bell, but no one answers. Had to track down cleaning staff in order to refill milk and juice at breakfast.

Review 77:Clean room

Review 78:The motel was OK, the stairs were a little dangerous, due to the slant downwards. The worst thing about my stay was the $20.00 charge after we left they said was for stealing towels that I didn't do. Be careful!!! I tried going through them to get it fixed but they refused.

Review 79:The room was big.

Review 80:When arriving we learned the pool was closed down. It was 95 degrees and we had two 7 year old twins who wanted to swim on vacation. We wouldn't have booked here knowing that. I think we are due a refund of some amount. Ruined our kids vacation and the whole family. We stayed here 10 years ago and it was nicer then

Review 81:Close to fishing

Review 82:we booked this Motel in the last moment , we called he hotel and they said they can wait or us cause we were arriving bit late :). i liked the the motel , and the room was clean and nice . though the breakfast is needed to be more organized.

Review 83:I thought the place was abandoned when I arrived just before check in time. The pool was green, weeds everywhere and just looked really run down. The curtain tracks where hanging off the wall. Stains on the carpets. Terrible pillows. I don't know where the 3 stars come from or how the system works. Maybe 1 star because it has a roof another because there is a bed and a third because there is a refrigerator. Not impressed at all. However the Italian restaurant down the main St by Vons called The Upper Crust was great.

Review 84:Location was handy enough to restaurants

Review 85:Staff didn't tell us breakfast was inclusive, terrible aircon, lots of ants, lots of flys, shower was too small, wifi was rubbish, tv only had one channel, towels were tiny, pool was green and out of use.

Review 86:Lots of choice for breakfast, spacious room, had a fridge with a little freezer compartment.

Review 87:Door did not fit the door frame so I had to pull up on the door to close it. Window latch in bathroom did not work so I was constantly concerned about security. Loose cable wire under bathroom sink was a concern. When I checked in, there were only 2 hand towels, no bathroom cups and no spare toilet paper roll in the room. The second night there, no room service at all. At 6pm, I had to ask the front desk for towels and they seemed miffed that I asked. Front desk staff did not inform me of free breakfast or free wi-fi when I checked in. When I asked for a breakout of the rates, all they said was that those were the rates I had booked through booking.com. The entire experience was additional confirmation that the concept of excellent customer service continues to erode in our hospitality industry. Shame on the owners of the Mountain View Motel. Will never stay there again and will never recommend to anyone.

Review 88:Everything

Review 89:Staff had a bad day, everyday! Room neighbors were frustrated also! Breakfast was 1 choice of cereal, coffee and miniature muffins in a small/tiny room next to pool!.ants in room and beds. The A/C was good. Wi-fi didn't work in the room, we had go outside and closer to the office to get good signal

Review 90:Front office locked early a.m.and limited breakfast (muffins, bad coffee.) Wifi worked well until it didn't.

Review 91:Very friendly and accommodating. Comfortable bed.

Review 92:the aforementioned disgusting smoke smell, overflowing outside ashtray, no coffeemaker or hairdryer.

Review 93:location: proximity to events at Mule Days in Bishop

Review 94:The motel advertised free WiFi but it only functioned a few meters around the main office.. When I enquired about it I was told to go elsewhere. I felt unsafe after the encounter. The pool was stinking dirty and unusable.

Review 95:The manager was rude unhelpful.

Review 96:Bad penetrating smell of poo in the motelroom, manager did nothing tosolve it; permanent noise from the refrigator and the airconditioning soyou can’t sleep; moreover the aironditioning itself does workinadequate; swimming pool stinks and is green of algae; no internetbecause the capacity is too little; very bad breakfast, no milk, no jusorange juice and old bread

Review 97:Nothing, very bad motel, worst motel ever, the manager is very lazy andif you complain, the manager ridicules you

Review 98:WiFi kept dropping the connection. TV also lost connection a few times. Breakfast was marginal (poor pastries). Pool was still closed (it had been closed when we stayed here a year ago).

Review 99:Comfortable bed. Good sized room. Good location. Shower worked well.

Review 100:Needed a little TCL some paint on the walls and the carpet vacuuming close to the baseboards wouldn't hurt! Also, the pool was Closed :(

Review 101:Bed very comfortable.

Review 102:I stayed over Memorial Day weekend, which turned out to also be "Mule Days". As a result, every hotel and motel in town had exorbitant rates. My room should have been well under $100 per night, but the holiday rate was $150. Not good value for the money. The decor and furnishings are outdated and not in the greatest shape.

Review 103:The motel has a convenient location walking distance to the main street of Bishop.

Review 104:No coffee maker in room. Old style tv. Thin walls. I could hear the people next to me as if they were inside my room. Bathroom has mold on the ceiling.

Review 105:Very comfortable bed.

Review 106:No extra electrical outlets. Came. opening weekend for trout season. We didn't get any sleep because a bunch of loud foreigners were tweeking all night. Had two night reserved, but left the second night to another motel where I learned that mountain view is popular with the local tweekers.. makes so much sense now. If you stay here, don't stay in any room along the south side.

Review 107:Front desk dude was cool. Coffee was free and pastries were pretty good.

Review 108:The staff wasn't very kind when we checked in. The room smelled wired and carpet was dirty but for that price, can't complain.

Review 109:Good price. Wifi worked good.

Review 110:WiFi inconsistant. Decor a but tired. And our bathroom had a little ant problem.

Review 111:Good location to town. Good continental breakfast. Very large room. Easy parking.

Review 112:Looked like the arear behind the beds had not been cleaned in years and the shower stalls were so small I couldn't move, the water always seemed to find its was out onto the floor.

Review 113:The staff was very helpful and friendly

Review 114:Charge for a towel that was not in the room, called talked to person in charge nothing they can do. Will not reverse charges **** Advise that customers count the towels at the start of they stay.****

Review 115:The shower was a little overpowered. It came out in a single strong jet, but it did get nice and hot.

Review 116:The hotel was an excellent value for the cost. Located near Yosemitie, it has a gorgeous view. The parking is ample and the rooms are clean and nicely decorated.

Review 117:Great location with beautiful views of the surrounding area. We only stayed 1 night on a road trip but the front office staff was great and the room catered for all that we needed and was very large

Review 118:No clothes hangers. TV remote did not work in 1 of the rooms. Bathroom vent did not work. Rooms were not made up but large envelope fpr house keeping tips were left in room! Advertised as having continental breakfast from 7-10 AM but nothing ready at 7:30 AM. Had only a loaf of bread with jelly & regular coffee with splenda (no sugar), corn flakes. Front desk gentleman was not helpful, sarcastic bordering on sounding rude.

Review 119:Comfortable beds & nice warm shower.Good price.

Review 120:the room we had was smelly and the carpets had stains everywhere made our stay uncomfortable, breakfast room is also poor very small for a large hotel and freezing cold as well ! Views are stunning and the bed was comfy

Review 121:the views are stunning and it is a nice little town, close to mammoth mountain and Yosemite

Review 122:Only con was the heater does not have a set temp. More on off with damper. But it definitely works!

Review 123:The room was clean shower was basic great preasure did the job. Place is clean and quiet. Overall great place just basic but cant beat the value! Went back and stayed a second night.

Review 124:Not a thing.

Review 125:Front desk was awesome, very helpful, friendly each time I had to call. Went over and above for my late arrival. I got a .com special rate which was very helpful and the only reason I tried it out. I don't need glitz, glamour...just cleanliness, service and help for a decent price. Definitely got that AND good coffee in morning!! Will definitely stay there again! Thanks!

Review 126:The room was very dirty. There is mold all over the restroom from non ventilation. The room had a musty smell and the floor looks as if it hadn't been vacuumed in a long time. Never will I book another room at this dump.

Review 127:The location and the view was great. The location is close to the town of Bishop and the restaurants.

Review 128:The heater unit was a bit noisy, so I turned it off after warming the room for night. It was comfortable under the blankets, and so I only turned it on again in the morning.

Review 129:The location is off the busy US 395, but just a very short distance away. The bathroom was newly tiled, clean. The bed was very good, and we got a good night rest in it after some long hikes in the mountains. Breakfast was simple, but we got a good start with that. It was served outside in a little house by the pool There was a little store nearby that had everything you could possibly need, including gas, wine, cheese, milk, etc.

Review 130:Bed wasn't very comfortable and the rooms are outdated and old, but nothing was broken or horrid.

Review 131:Staff was friendly and helpful. Getting situated at the hotel was simple and easy. Overall a pretty fair experience, nothing incredible and nothing terrible, decent for the price and recommended for an overnight stay on a budget.

Review 132:The price-performance ratio was awesome. We stopped there on the way to death valley and it was perfect for us. Cheap, clean, comfortable, big room and included breakfast!

Review 133:We got our hubcaps stolen and the video cameras do not catch anything below the lower half of cars. There are a lot of residents there who walk around checking to see what's inside your car during the night, wiggling the door handle to see if it's open- lock your doors!!! Found a big wolf spider in the room!!

Review 134:Wifi can be spotty at times. But overall better than in previous years.

Review 135:A simple place that gets the job done. Nothing fancy but everything is functional, clean, and comfortable. Nice staff. My third year in a row here.

Review 136:Staff took offense at husband being tired so over charged us and never gave us the wifi code. He said he didn't like his attitude...well you try being jovial after driving 12 hrs...never ever go there again.

Review 137:No free breakfast , instead a coupon for 10% off. Maybe 50% off wood have been better. No ice machine on 2nd floor.

Review 138:Lactation to highway 41. Lots of food choices within a short driving distance . Quite, peaceful setting. Nice base camp for visiting king canyon and sequoia national parks.

Review 139:Designated as 3Stars. Reality: Delapidated rooms, furniture, parking lot, breakfast room and pool. Basically everything old and run down. Felt like Bate's Motel in Psycho...

Review 140:Getting out of there.

The Fine Print
