Reviews for Coconut Court Beach Hotel
Review 1:We arrived at the hotel on Christmas Eve after a long flight from Sydney. Our flight was delayed and we arrived at 1am. We were told by the hotel that they will organise a pick up for us, so no need to worry about this, however, there was no one there to pick us up. We ended up alone at the airport at 1.30am in a country where we haven't been before, with a number of people around us offering us a transport, some of them looking a bit weird, and us trying to figure out where is our pick up. At the end, we managed to find a driver to take us to the Hotel, and when we arrived the reply from the front desk was that he was not sure why this happened....?Went to our room, exhausted, and dreaming of a shower..... However, amenities are so poor, there was no shampoo or conditioner. There was only a liquid soap diepnser that had the same soap for the shower and for the hands (!).so no luck on washing my hair and having a decent shower that night. Then, thirsty as anything, I checked the fridge and there was not even a small bottle of water in. Even in the cheapest motels, you will find a shampoo and a small bottle of water in the fridge... But not in the coconut court! When we called the reception and asked for some water, they said that the bar was closed.... We said that we had such a long flight a we really need some fresh bottled water, and since the hotel has a restaurant in their premises, please get us a bottle and we are more than happy to pay for it.... They said not possible, and advised us to go to the petrol station 100m away from the hotel to get one as this was our best option to get water at 2am in the morning (!!!!!!)After we insisted and explained how tired we were, ( all that at 2am in the morning) the guy that was at the reception, offered my husband a ride to the petrol station, and we finally had a bottle of water.
Review 2:Location is ok, however, the west side beaches are much better.
Review 3:I needed a hotel that was handicapped accessible but this one was not. It's not for anyone using a wheelchair or walker. One of the owners explained that it's not also. Please update your info for this hotel.
Review 4:Very friendly and helpful staff. Special mention for Sandra in housekeeping, Wynette at the guest shop. The location is excellent and the food was good. The beach was right outside my balcony.
Review 5:The room is ready for an upgrade as the bathroom in particular was dated. The room had a wonderful view and was cleaned daily. Restaurant ok but plenty of places to eat in the area and a good local bus and taxi service. Tiny pool but who needs it when only a few paces from the ocean!
Review 6:Lovely staff and great location between Carlisle Bay and Lawremce Gap. The beach bar really good and friendly.
Review 7:As a business traveler, dependable internet is paramount. Did NOT have Reliable access at the Coconut Court. Very inconvenient- meant I was searching out internet cafes to do my work
Review 8:Staff lovely. Rooms acceptable and clean compared to some of the other mid-low range hotels I've stayed at in Barbados.
Review 9:Rooms large but a bit basic: need some refreshing. Lovely beach but not much to see in the shallow waters in front of the hotel.
Review 10:Direct access to their own beach, incl. beach bar and beach beds. Wifi works on the beach, for people that are unfortunately there for work and not holiday...
Review 11:Restaurant could offer much better choice. Whoever chose the merlot should reconsider his occupation!
Review 12:Beautiful rooms in a wonderful location. Hats off to the owners and thier staff. Will be returning next year.
Review 13:When I think about our accommodation here I dislike how expensive food at the hotel could become. Also the room floor is too bear, there needs to be a rug or carpet installed. When the A/C is working the entire room becomes an icebox. The floor is very cold and easily dirty after using the shower.
Review 14:I appreciated the simplicity of the room, and the cozy home feeling. We thank the staff for making the trip most comfortable even without an elevator present.
Review 15:The hotel driver was almost an hour late to pick us up for kadooment. We made the arrangements a day before. When he arrived he just stared at us like it was our fault we called him. We took another cab service who arrived in 5 minutes after our call. Another down side to this location is that there were no offers of tours or group trips to see the island. If there were I wasn't even informed.
Review 16:Antonio the bar tender is the best waiter and bar tender I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. I've been to many hotels throughout the state and islands and he is definitely top 3. Please keep him! And also, your beach is clean and gorgeous the best view to wake up to every morning I applaud whoever manages that they have done a great job keeping it clean.
Review 17:Wifi is not properly working sometimes ...
Review 18:Clean, spacious and comfortable room ( superior beach front), very good value for money, I recommend it. Also the free airport shuttle.
Review 19:The small window beside the door did not lock, so can be opened from outside....and then the door can be opened easily....safety concern.
Review 20:Location to lots of restaurants, beaches and shopping
Review 21:Vaida at Hotel's Activities desk was really helpful, would really recommend having a chat with her regarding activities during your stay in Barbados!
Review 22:Staff are lovely! The owners take the time to speak with each of the guests! All the staff make you feel extremely welcome! Antonio the beach bar barman remembers everyone's names! Beach is perfect and plenty of sun loungers - Had a lovely time and would highly recommend.
Review 23:Only got two very minor moans; the first is the English breakfast, most expensive thing on the breakfast menu but not really much there, The other is about the sports bar opposite, brilliant food, but guys give them another hand! One tender and 2 food servers on a couple of busy nights!
Review 24:Beach area with its own reef to make it safe for snorkling was a big bonus, the beach bar with its regular happy hours (Antonio is one the best bartenders you will ever find) Everything is contained within the complex, the shop is handy for essentials, souvenirs and post. All the staff were amazing and friendly and helpful
Review 25:Having to leave at the end
Review 26:Being able to wade out to the reef and see the fish as they swam around you. Honest and friendly staff. I forgot a piece of jewellery when I left the hotel and was immediately contacted for it to be returned safely to me.
Review 27:The breakfasts are very basic, a little fruit, very ordinary cereal and bread, a few pastries. Dinners are all buffet style with little choice. After day one we got our own breakfasts in our room and ate out at night
Review 28:The beach; good for swimming and snorkeling. The hotel is walking distance along the boardwalk from good restaurants and surf beaches.
Review 29:Road Noise - Reggae Buses !!
Review 30:Friendly and resourceful Rezeption staff., Position near to the Beach under beautiful Shading trees, Beach Bar,Pool. Close for Trips to Bridgestown, Holetown and West Coast Ressorts.
Review 31:We got in late Saturday so if we had info on trips before Monday but the activity desk was great too!
Review 32:It was all great, although we took Teds tour and wished we took it at the beginning of our trip instead of the end. Great info and a super guy! Thanks Ted.
Review 33:Ocean front room was a little dated, bathroom facilities were slightly shoddy (taps were loose etc...). Not an issue for us, but you would notice the difference if you stayed in a 4 star hotel.
Review 34:Lovely beach and great view with loungers provided. Tropical fish swim just off the beach and snorkelling gear is provided (if you book an activity through the hotel). Staff are very friendly and helpful. Close to some excellent restaurants; Bridgetown and St Lawrence Gap are also easily accessible. Room spacious and balcony view delightful. Despite some other reviews the food was pretty tasty and good value (cooked breakfast ~ BBDS$22). We ate there several times. Organized events such as the Monday night rum punch party are surprisingly good fun (live music, free rum punch and a tasty buffet BBQ BBDS$54 ). Thoroughly enjoyed our stay!
Review 35:I found the price high for the accommodation provided. Water pressure in the shower, was not good. Towels, were well worn and I had trouble locking the door to my room, because the lock was ill fitting.
Review 36:The staff were lovely, verry helpful, always happy to assist. My room, was beautifully cleaned every day.
Review 37:Hotel in need of updating/ refurbishment Very thin curtains so the light woke us too early. Small bathroom and thin towels Some of the sunbeds need replacing Checking-in systems are rather antiquated and need updating.
Review 38:The beach front location. Some very helpful staff. Good location for getting around the island. Spacious room with ocean view
Review 39:When selecting rooms be careful with the description/terminology: Standard Rooms - Ocean facing. These rooms are not considered sea/ocean view rooms, therefore we upgraded our room to Superior Ocean Front for an additional cost on arrival.
Review 40:Location on the beach Best Bar Manager - Antonio Credit to the hotel for the knowledgeable, friendly staff. Amazing View from Room 88. Could not fault the hotel, amazing.
Review 41:The restaurant was not the best An almost constant stream of cars made it sometimes difficult to cross the street
Review 42:Beach was very clean and had great snorkeling for kids because the water is fairly shallow. There were always enough beach chairs The staff was very friendly Balcony was private with a solid wall between you and the neighbors Very easy to get transportation
Review 43:Nothing much
Review 44:Great location and lovely staff...facilities very good and a wonderful beach inside a protective reef.Restaurant very good with great menu.Live music on Monday night with BBQ fabulous.Super stay
Review 45:There is no elevator at this hotel, but we didn't mind. One thing that was a bit of a pain was the proximity to the main road (but all the hotels in that area are close to the road). That meant that you heard the traffic and horns honking (and they honk a lot, believe me) in the early morning. But, it was OK, as who wants to spend your time in the room in the morning? There was absolutely no sounds on the beach side of the hotel, it was like you walked into an oasis. Only other thing was that we had room 55, and we could hear the guests in the next room when they came in at 2:00 a.m., but that was only one night. Nice room, but the sound proofing wasn't the best
Review 46:Loved the location, close to Bridgetown, but not too close, fantastic beach, with snorkelling right off it. Close to the Hastings Boardwalk and great restaurants. The pool area and beach bar were perfect too, very chill, not fancy-schmancy. If you didn't feel like going out, the hotel had decent food, and there is a pizza place across the street, you can eat in your room or on the balcony.
Review 47:The better beaches require some walking (either to the Hilton at Needham Point or to the Accra along the Boardwalk). Never mind. The walks along the shore (about a mile each) are pleasant.
Review 48:Location (close to Garrison and EU Delegation, fairly close to downtown Bridgetown). Clean tile floor of my room. The open restaurant, and the little souvenir shop.
Review 49:Free wi-fi a Joke - virtually non existant Booked standard room but the word sub- should have been in front of it. The quality of an updated room should be the minimum standard. I have discarded better mattresses and bedding. Thread bare sagging sun loungers on beach, moody driver for hotel shuttle. Hotel next to constantly honking taxi's on main road
Review 50:Really struggling with this question. I think i'll leave at that.
Review 51:The bed was a little hard but not a major issue.
Review 52:The location of this place is great! Quiet and a little removed but so easy to get to any of the key areas. The beach out front is pristine with some great snorkelling (even saw a puffer fish!). The staff are friendly and incredibly helpful with directions and advice. Room was large and spacious and very clean. I had a phenomenal view of the beach where I watched the sunset each day from my balcony.
Review 53:Should have a sink to compliment the kettle, microwave, toaster oven and refrigerator.
Review 54:The staff were extremely helpful and friendly, food was excellent,
Review 55:I thought that the food was expensive considering we could go outside and get food of good quality and bigger portions for less money, when travelling with more than one person this could enable you to spend your money very quickly
Review 56:The staff were very friendly, Harriet and Peter staff in the restaurant in the morning were absolutely welcoming as with the other morning staff just cant remember their names. The evening staff, chef and assistants were great and very friendly and the food was very nice the days that we ate in the restaurant
Review 57:The staff was very friendly, personable and went above their call of duty to make sure that we had a good time. The view from from our patio was fantastic. Our rooms were cleaned thoroughly everyday. I would certainly recommend the Coconut Court to anyone who is looking for a place to stay. I will definitely stay there again. Special thank you to Zakia who was on the front desk the night we arrived. The food on the Deck was excellent and so were the wait staff.
Review 58:The service at the restaurant was a bit lack lustered and my breakfast order wasn't correct, nor was i charged the same for the exact items(weather I order 3 eggs scrambled with cheese or 3 eggs with cheese made in an omelet...its still just 3 eggs and cheese and the price should be the same) - but the service at the bar was spot on!
Review 59:The ladies at the front desk were very accomodating. I had called a few days ahead requesting for a room on the ground floor, as soon as I said my name i felt like a was an old friend who had returned! the welcome was AWESOME. Thanks Janell and the crew~
Review 60:The bedroom was noisy in the evening with a loud volume from the Bar across the main road outside. They would not accept American Express for payment. Our room was not one of the refurbished rooms and was pretty basic but did have Fridge and Kitchen.. It could have done with a small round dining table and a couple of chairs.
Review 61:Well we had a late booking budget room so you have to take that into consideration. The Beach Bar Pool and Restaurant we liked. The Beach was nice with a shallow swimming area protected by a coral reef. Not so good for those who like waves but good for kids. The hotel is in a good location with plenty of shopping and restaurants nearby. Close to the Hastings Boardwalk.
Review 62:staff could smile more at front desk.
Review 63:view of ocean from room. very close to beach. small size of hotel
Review 64:Not a variety of food to choose from.
Review 65:The location and beach
Review 66:not much of a grumble but you have to cross stones and pebbles to get from the beach out to the sea
Review 67:nice staff and good location
Review 68:No internet first day No hot water. Solar not working well.
Review 69:Location
Review 70:The staff are so friendly and helpful.

Review 82:Staff friendliness,location
Review 83:The room and bathroom was much worse than the picture on the web
Review 84:Nice beach location
Review 85:Food way too pricey
Review 86:Amazing staff
Review 87:everything
Review 88:Old Fashioned (appart from the room) Breakfast Noise from the street
Review 89:Nice room Nice beach in from
Review 90:The Wi-fi was poor, requiring constant logins and re-logins. The TV service was poor until it was corrected on the last day of our stay.
Review 91:We liked the staff, the location and the renovated accommodation. The staff was friendly and helpful and the room had all that we needed for a pleasant stay. Beautiful beach on the property too. We'll be back!
Review 92:the hotel, pool area and beach (free towels!) are really beautiful! the restaurant of the hotel offers every day a different theme as a buffet with a high quality. there are also some restraurants/bars close to the hotel (at the opposite of it and at the boardwalk, which starts just after some meters at the left). a big thanks to Antonio, the waiter of the beach bar! He offers a fantastic service and is very friendly! the hotel offers also a free shuttle to Bridgetown and organizes tours and taxis.
Review 93:Think they could give more info on the facilities and the local amenities on arrival, however they were very helpful when info was requested
Review 94:very friendly family run business. Staff helpful and professional. Room clean and upgraded. Good situation. Nice clean beach area. Handy free shuttle services to city and other amenities.
Review 95:Nothing.
Review 96:Location, location, location, with a natural looking reef protecting the beach from any waves at low tide and with a depth of around one metre, it's perfect for less able swimmers. Palm trees for natural shade and excellent air con in the spacious room provided wonderful comfort. Good live and electronic music every night to provide entertainment while eating at the very reasonable restaurant and bar. Hastings is an ideal location for dinning, dancing and sightseeing.
Review 97:The exchange rate given was pretty poor. Get your money in M and S before arriving.
Review 98:The location was very good, we had a lovely refurbished room on the third floor, the room was a very comfortable with a very handy kitchenette so it was possible to have breakfast on the balcony. Dining area almost on the beach with tasty barbecues served some evenings, with music provided.
Review 99:The location was kind of mixed... It wasn´t very near to Bridgetown neither the southern hotel and restaurants section. Pool deck was quite lame with just one small pool.
Review 100:Beach was excellent. However, this might be a standard at Barbados so I am not sure if there was anything special there. Hotel services and personnel were excellent.
Review 101:Room very dated but lots of space. Kitchen area very poorly equipped Location good for the beach but not very close for the main restaurant district Poorly served for local shops
Review 102:Location to beach Wifi accessible at the beach Happy hour beer a pound a bottle Pool Staff efficient and pleasant Beach excellent
Review 103:towels need to be renovated the floor around the pools needs to be refurbished
Review 104:location friendly staff wonderful view from the room easy access to town with bus and vans
Review 105:Breakfast selection / variety can be improved (more fruits, veggies, diary).
Review 106:Everything made us feel good. Relaxing place. Nice room. Nice beach. Nice restaurant. Good tours. Did not want to leave ...
Review 107:I loved the coconut trees and the beach in front of the hotel. It wasn't a busy beach very quite and relaxing. I stayed in the recently renovated part of the hotel and it was very nice and clean. The staff were very friendly and the rooms clean.
Review 108:The hotel is due for an upgrade- asethetics and facade.
Review 109:Great location to restaurants, public transportation, the capital city, and the BEACH. It is one of the smaller type budget hotels, so the opportunity for private quiet time is greater, than staying at the Hilton fro example, where the pool is always such a hive of people and activity
Review 110:Dinner Menu could improve choice. Same for wine menu Bit noisy im mornings as adjacent main road.
Review 111:Friendly and relaxing ambience. Free internet access. Daily cleaning Beach Bar Happy hours x2 daily
Review 112:Rooms while spacious lacked charm.
Review 113:Ideal location both for beach and night life. Free Internet access in Lobby. Very good breakfast on the Deck Terrace.
Review 114:Rooms are very dated Bathroom very small Flies in Bathroom Food at dinner was very substandard. Wi-Fi VERY slow, nearly unuseable TV pointless, no channels
Review 115:Location to beach balcony facing sun
Review 116:The bathroom was very very small
