Reviews for StoneFort Inn
Review 1:Nothing bad to say about the place
Review 2:Friendly and helpful staff, who went out of their way to be of assistance. Loved the old fashioned Coke machine; restaurant was lovely.
Review 3:Our bedroom was in need of some maintenance - the bedroom door was not easy to close or lock and the bathroom door would not close properly.
Review 4:The hotel was in a good central location, with car parking across the road. The breakfast was excellent.
Review 5:Disappointed no restaurant service on Sunday evening but directed to an excellent restaurant nearby-Tupelo Honey Cafe
Review 6:Old worldly rooms in tradititional style. Easy walk downtown and very pleasant staff.
Review 7:WE ARRIVED LATE..NO ONE AT DESK TO OPEN DOOR..IT WAS LOCKED WITH GUESTS AT TABLE EATING. WE KNOCKED SEVERAL TIMES BEORE SOMEONE OPENED THE DOOR. THE FIRST ROOM HAD BED UNMADE AND OBVIOUSLY USED...A MAN WHO WAS FROM THE RESTAURANT THAT SERVED MEALS AT HOTEL GOT A DIFFERENT KEY AND DIFFERENT ROOM FOR US....VERY UNSETTLING EXPEREINCE THAT NIGHT. THE PEOPLE NEXT DAY WERE VERY APOLOGETIC.
Review 8:THE ROOM AND ATTENDANTS THE FOLLOWING DAY.
Review 9:I believe we were in the smallest room. For the price on a Sunday evening when the majority of the rooms were empty, we were disappointed.
Review 10:Comfortable bed. WONDERFUL tub.
Review 11:Not so good looking rom the outside, particularly the dead flowers in the window but don't be put off
Review 12:Very friendly and helpful. Resonable location
Review 13:Great location, friendly staff, really nice food and drinks, and the building and decor are beautiful. We liked being close to pubs, independent businesses, a nice urban running area, the river, and the battlefields.
Review 14:It was hot on the top floor but they were very accommodating and moved us to another, larger room.
Review 15:Everything about this place I loved! The breakfast was fabulous and staff were fabulous.
Review 16:The only cons: location was not perfect for us (a little less than a mile away from the downtown we were expecting - certainly not a big problem, but we did end up walking in the heat more than expected as parking is tricky and can get expensive in downtown Chattanooga) and there was a portable air conditioner in our room that was extremely loud (as in we literally could not sleep while it was running - this felt like a problem because it was mid July and pretty warm up on the third floor of the old building. Fortunately the rain cooled it off enough both nights so that we were able to turn off the A/C unit late at night and sleep somewhat comfortably without it running again until morning). I would stay at StoneFort Inn again, but I would request some other arrangement besides the in-room portable air conditioner if it were summertime.
Review 17:Charming, vintage, high end decor thoughtfully enhances the historical beauty of this building. The included breakfast was top notch. Hot coffee and tea were available near the lobby all day long. The employees were friendly and very helpful. Parking was free and somewhat close to the entrance of the Inn. The restaurant that is located within this establishment is highly regarded and also a very beautiful space. This is a perfect romantic getaway destination.
Review 18:The location was rich with rough people and made us nervous for safe walking to downtown which was disappointing. Chattanooga overall has gone downhill with an increasingly dirty feel and unfriendly people. I have many years visiting the city and doubt I will return.
Review 19:Beautiful building and rooms.
Review 20:front door was locked when I checked in at 4pm. the restaurant and bar were closed. the parking was in a unsafe area. for the price there should have at least had a micro and fridge
Review 21:not much
Review 22:No wifi.
Review 23:This place was beautiful. The staff was amazing, shout out to Harrison. The food was spectacular and the place felt a lot like home. Thanks for the great expirence.
Review 24:I stayed on the 3rd floor. I was told by other guests that stayed on the second floor that you could hear any movement that someone made on the 3rd floor. The room was very nice but I felt it was over priced.
Review 25:The entire staff was friendly, accommodating, very concerned about the guest's needs.
Review 26:Wifi doesn't work well in some rooms, cleaning staff only seemed to change towels daily, no other cleaning.
Review 27:Nice breakfast daily, convenient location, friendly staff
Review 28:No major issues with our stay. One has to accept limitations of old buildings when staying at a B&B You are there for the home like atmosphere.
Review 29:We liked the feel of the Inn. Quaint. The location allowed us to park our vehicle and walk to restaurants and museums. We are not normally "city" people, but we were very comfortable walking everywhere. Chattanooga is a beautiful city. Surprisingly quiet and restful at the Stone Fort Inn.
Review 30:In fairness, there is a short walk from the gated parking area, though it doesn't bother me at all.
Review 31:We love everything about the Stonefort Inn. I have grown to enjoy staying in hotels that have character and charm as long as they are clean, updated and well-run. The Stonefort has some of the best beds I've ever slept on, large bathrooms, and we love the huge open hallways and the furnishings/artwork/photos throughout. My wife said she didn't care what the night cost, the breakfast was worth every penny we paid. We have a student at the University of Chattanooga and the hotel is in the perfect location to get there and anywhere downtown. I have to keep up with work and Wi-fi and TV are great as well. There is a very nice restaurant/bar in the hotel (though not inexpensive). This was our second stay and I don't plan on going anywhere else.
Review 32:It's in the heart of downtown, so you might get some street noise at night, but it's not that bad.
Review 33:Large room, stately furnishings and decor with a big jacuzzi bath for day's end. The breakfast was superb.
Review 34:parking is a bit of a walk, but not terribly inconvenient if it isnt raining. Booked online, and room that I was shown was somewhat different than what was available when I arrived (smaller / no balcony).
Review 35:Great spa tub and comfortable bed. Wifi was free and fast. Staff was friendly and in-house restaurant/bar is top-noth, although quite expensive.
Review 36:Loved the care that was taken to maintain a sense of historic charm while adding accents that incorporate a modern feel. There were so many lovely artistic pieces. The breakfast area is especially warm and charming. The use of the library and presentation made the morning coffee (which was excellent) along with a 5 star breakfast, my favorite time of the day. The location was great - access to all that Chattanooga has to offer only minutes away. The staff was friendly, helpful and welcoming. All and all, a terrific stay and I would definitely return if I find myself in Chattanooga again.
Review 37:Beautiful place, great location, wonderful restaurant with tasty food. Rooms very nice with comfortable beds. Best stay on our road trip through Tennessee!
Review 38:Location, antique filled, romantic room, giant bathroom and shower, jetted outside balcony tub, comfy bed, walking distance to downtown restaurants, delicious breakfast and being welcomed and remembered by James.
Review 39:Cannot think of a blessed thing!
Review 40:Absolutely gorgeous Appalachian-chic decor--ridiculously beautiful, one-of-a-kind boutique hotel. I actually gasped when we walked into the room! This place is a real gem, and an amazing value at that. The restaurant Terramae (right in the hotel) was one of the most enjoyable, delicious meals we have ever had, and we are globe trotting foodies. Perfect place to celebrate our anniversary!
Review 41:If you need comfort or value modernity, you won't like it. It's old fashioned, and somewhat creeky.
Review 42:Quaint, historic, awesome location, great food and drink, large rooms, unique, awesome service. Perfect for our family. Varied room sizes and qualities, like noise, size, balconies, etc.
Review 43:Restaurant was WAY TOO expensive. and wifi was weak and slow.
Review 44:Very comfortable. Unique place. More of a bed and breakfast feel but with all hotel conveniences and amenities.
Review 45:We arrived mid-way through the breakfast time. Food was tasty, but several items were out and were not refilled. Choices were somewhat limited.
Review 46:We loved the location & old charm of the room.
Review 47:The creaking wooden floor upstairs made it difficult to move around quietly, but it didn't seem to bother anyone. More info about the choices for breakfast would have helped make better decisions. No menu or explanation was offered.
Review 48:The quaint style of the Inn was a refreshing change from today's standard hotel décor and layout. The room was spacious, and had all the modern amenities with an early 20th century flair.
Review 49:Spa was broken, air was broken, had to call maintence twice, had to switch rooms at midnight, then the new room the bathroom sink wouldn't drain
Review 50:Cleaniess, comfort, quite
Review 51:Everything. Room.breakfast.staff
Review 52:This is a great stylish little hotel and the staff are all fabulous. Brilliant restaurant attached and great bar for cocktails
Review 53:lots of noise from the street.
Review 54:Breakfast and facility were very nice.
Review 55:Parking situation
Review 56:Charm of the place
Review 57:Loved the bed and the staff were wonderful. The location was also nice
Review 58:The restaurant and bar were great too!!
Review 59:The balcony was disappointing.
Review 60:The concierge, Harrison, made our stay more enjoyable than it otherwise might be. He's a gem!
Review 61:Poor air coditioning.
Review 62:Overpriced
Review 63:It was convenient to downtown Chattanooga area. If you didn't want to do anything besides stay at the Inn you would be very well taken care of
Review 64:Locations was great and we loved the restaurant. Didn't have to go anywhere! Great place to overnight on our way to Savannah.
Review 65:breakfast and a great shower
Review 66:Staff was friendly Room was beautiful Breakfast awesome
Review 67:nothing
Review 68:see above
Review 69:The street noise.
Review 70:The atmosphere, price and location. The breakfast was also nice, with local yogurt and coconut water.
Review 71:Great service, great facility, fantastic breakfast each day, helpful friendly staff.
Review 72:Dirty Sheets plus are bed had no fitted bottom sheet !
Review 73:Nothing
Review 74:Great service Great food Wonderful location
Review 75:Weekdays offer some noise from the streets.
Review 76:Love the old building and all the character it offered. Had very comfortable bed and nice soaking tub!
Review 77:While our room at this bed and breakfast was wonderful, the breakfast left something to be desired. When we arrived to breakfast, we discovered it was a buffet-style affair. The lid was left on the warming-trays and was very hot to touch. For some odd reason, the staff provided nothing with which to grip the hot handle to the top, which made it very difficult to lift without burning one's hand. When I finally managed to open the tray, there remained only 4 pieces of bacon, a few potatoes, and biscuits. While it is true that we arrived at breakfast 30 minutes before it ended (9:00am), I think it poor form to not have a decent amount of food available for all guests up until the end of breakfast. In addition to the few hot items provided, there were dry cereals, a very picked-over fruit salad, various pastries, and packaged Greek yogurt cups--all of which I would expect at any decent continental breakfast in a normal hotel. On the plus side, they did provide eggs to order, which were very well cooked and tasty. So, all in all, if you stay here I would suggest arriving at breakfast as early as possible, as perhaps then it would not be so underwhelming.
Review 78:The location of this bed and breakfast is superb for exploring all areas of downtown Chattanooga. Our room was well-appointed and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom was roomy and included an enclosed toilet, a very nice stand-in shower, and a large whirlpool bath.
Review 79:No problems.
Review 80:Very old building renovated but still full of charming character. If you like chains, this probably is not for you. If you like fun-and-funky in a great location with good service and good food, this is delightful.
Review 81:Much too difficult to get to room (even with elevator) and much too far to park and walk back to room. This place really needs to offer valet service!
Review 82:History of facility. Also breakfast was one of the best I've had in any B & B establishment.
Review 83:the bathrooms need to be updated with new flooring in the shower and the jacuzzi on the balcony takes up all the room and a full length mirror needed in bedroom
Review 84:good location staff very nice restaurant good food
Review 85:the floor in the room was unlevel. On one side of the headboard there were two 2x4s under the leg to make it even. The bathroom had no vent, neither did the shower. Door to room was so bad that you could almost stick your hand between the facing and the door, not secure.
Review 86:Staff was wonderful, location was great
Review 87:A little disorganized with putting on the breakfasts. However, the homemade biscuits made up for it!
Review 88:Lovely old world feel. Extremely pleasant and helpful staff
Review 89:The Inn does not allow older children (2+ish), so we won't be able to return in the near future.
Review 90:The environment we very nice and we appreciated the older decor. The staff was very very helpful and its location was ideal for us.
Review 91:There was water system drainage that routed right over our outdoor tub. It dripped into the tub one day and was a little unsettling. Made us not want to use outdoor tub again.
Review 92:We loved the turn of the century (early 1900's) style and charm...claw foot tub, hard wood floors, tall ceilings, exposed brick. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
Review 93:Bathtub ont he balcony was so funa nd the weekday breakfast was amazing (I can't imagine how great it is on weekends). They will upgrade your room if they have anything available for free
Review 94:The Inn exuded a historic, boutique charm; the location is excellent; breakfast was a pleasurable experience each morning; and the staff were friendly and made us feel at home. It was nice to be at an Inn vs. a hotel. I would highly recommend this Inn to anyone who savors "out of the ordinary".
Review 95:This B & B is a great find, and great value for the price. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The breakfasts included with your stay were delicious.
Review 96:The bed was way to soft. I realize that the owners wish to stay with the authentic flair but sleep was minimal both nights.
Review 97:The welcome greeting when you entered the inn and taking care of every requests.
Review 98:Not one thing
Review 99:Accommodations were beautiful and comfortable. Food was fabulous, plentiful and reasonably priced. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone travelling to Chattanooga.
Review 100:I didn't stay longer
Review 101:the staff was amazing! they went out of their way to make sure everything was to my comfort. quintessential southern hospitality. I'd highly recommend stone fort
Review 102:Booking.com did not forward the correct accommodations to the Inn. The Inn made up for the discrepancy. I would stay here again.
Review 103:The staff were very friendly. The Inn has a lot of character; very cozy. The breakfast was excellent! I would stay here again.
Review 104:Before my stay, I had difficulty getting in contact with the staff viaemail and Facebook. I had specifically requested a room with a jettedtub, and we got a room with a tub outside (in January) which wasdisappointing. The people above us were loud through the night, so wehad trouble sleeping because of the noise. Also, the pillows areterrible. The bed was comfortable but the pillows were so thin that theymight as well have left an empty pillowcase on the bed.
Review 105:The breakfast was wonderful and accessibility to the restaurant/barwas nice as well. The staff was also very friendly. The room wasspacious and comfortable.
Review 106:With the old charm came loud noise. The floors were very loud and creaky. There was also a huge air/heating unit for the building behind the inn that was loud. The inn provided a white noise machine to kind of cancel out the other noise. It actually worked pretty well.
Review 107:The room was beautiful. The old charm of the place was very cool. The breakfast buffet on Saturday morning sure beat a continental breakfast from any other hotel.
Review 108:Although I like maintaining as much of the old building as possible, thebathrooms were very cold due to the bricks in the old walls needingrepointing. However, with the bathroom door closed the room remainedvery warm.
Review 109:Extremely comfortable, almost like being at home except the food wasmuch better!
Review 110:I liked everything, my friend said she ran out of hot water in themorning, but had plenty at night. So. Bathe at night.
Review 111:Charming place, old and comfy, the staff was excellent, the whole airwas comfy and relaxed. Parking was easy, great location, withinwalking distance of everything. The breakfast was excellent; therestaurant, next door but part of the hotel, was one of the best Iknow. We were both taken with the comfort, the atmosphere and thestaff. Will go again; only hotel where I thought it'd be a greatplace to retire forever.
Review 112:As it is an old building the insulation between rooms is not perfect. This is no complaint as is the case for old buildings and was not an issue personally.
Review 113:Beautiful property in restored historic building Excellent welcome and service from staff Well located with parking
Review 114:Slow to clean room
Review 115:The rooms were comfortable and had character and plenty of space. Good value
Review 116:Room was dirty and not clean at all.
Review 117:Breakfast was great
Review 118:Spa tub was on balcony outside
Review 119:The breakfast was excellent.
Review 120:The staff was the most positive factor...very friendly and helpful.
Review 121:Atmosphere and friendliness
Review 122:Parking wasn't the most convenient!
Review 123:Great friendly place!! Loved the atmosphere!!
Review 124:Could have been cleaner. Mold in bathroom.
Review 125:Value.
Review 126:Hvac didn't work well room stayed hot
Review 127:Convenient location, good price, friendly staff, good breakfast
Review 128:No Water ice in room
Review 129:Comfort
