Reviews for Rosie O'Grady's Fremantle
Review 1:Room . What looked like a blood stain on the wall
Review 2:Would not stay again . Dirty pillows with no pillow slips . When I asked for some , I was told they hadn't been delivered and they would have some the day after! I insisted on some so they took them from another room . Not the best
Review 3:Booking.com advertised a free breakfast - the hotel doesn't do breakfast. Booking.com said the cheaper rooms were full - on arrival they were not.
Review 4:Great atmosphere, great room will definitely stay again.
Review 5:No lift. No proper reception. No telephone in room. No safe. Though advertised as Deluxe room seemed neglected, shabby. Cockroaches in bathroom. Shabby bathroom. Instructions for second bed not carried out, though prepaid. On second night provided with small collapsible camp bed, more suitable for child (we were 2 adults). No duty manager in evidence when we checked out. Don't mind 'basic' but this was unacceptable.
Review 6:Airy. Comfortable mattress. Kitchen next door.
Review 7:Bathroom. And comforter is outdated and old.
Review 8:Bathrooms need upgrade. And parking should be organised with carpark for discount I paid 40 Overnight. Could have stayed where there is discount or parking.
Review 9:I thought the price was a little steep for a hotel. No parking available. Excess cost of $30 to park off road. On road parking was an hourly fee.
Review 10:Great staff and atmosphere, clean, comfortable and close vicinity to Fremantle centre.
Review 11:Just be aware parking at the multi storey carpark opposite isn't cheap. 24 hrs cost us $46. (Nothing to do with the hotel, I know.)
Review 12:Great location, comfortable room. We have stayed here before and would stay here again.
Review 13:The bathroom was seperate from the bedroom and there was a damp smell that had tried to be masked by sents sticks
Review 14:The location is great and the bar and food is good. There is a large bar and areas to sit. Easy access from the front and back of the hotel, nice outdoor area, and live music at night on a Saturday
Review 15:This was the most fowl putrid hotel I've ever stayed at! It was so bad that we left and went back home! It had what could only be described as a blood stain on our floor, it smelt like dead people. The "security" screen was broken! No bathroom- only a communal option where the shower was mouldy, shower head broken and spraying everywhere and no power points in the bathroom!
Review 16:Absolutely nothing!
Review 17:Lack of parking. We stayed at the parking building opposite which is reasonably close but a little expensive.
Review 18:We always stay at Rosie's when we come to Fremantle. It's ideal. Comfy beds, close to everything. Great food and cold beer.
Review 19:Looks very tired/ dated. Our room didn't have a great view and it was quite noisy. Being part of a pub, that's to be expected though so wasn't a huge issue.
Review 20:Excellent location right in the thick of it all. Really close to good cafes etc. for coffee in the morning. Quite a reasonable price considering its location and in comparison to other hotels in Fremantle.
Review 21:Shower had mould, only provided one chair in the room (we had a booking for two people), balcony was padlocked in the morning, TV remote battery was flat, and smoking area did not have a chair.
Review 22:Location and building heritage.
Review 23:Can't say I didn't like anything. Great location perfect
Review 24:Wonderful greeting by the manager Tyrone. Early check in and fantastic service . loved it.
Review 25:We booked in for 2 nights and had three rooms booked by family from the East as we had a reunion and we love it at Rosies BUT parking it cost us $84 to park in the car park over the road as you don't have parking. That was a bit sad!!!!!
Review 26:Very friendly nice food.
Review 27:All good, you pay your price and get what's right.
Review 28:Nice old world hotel, room basic but functions for my taste.Happy with the discounted price.would use again,Staff very attentive.
Review 29:probably to have medium sized plastic sanitary bags for those with incontinence to dispose larger panties/pads.
Review 30:fact that Tyson met us and then helped during the stay and when leaving with assisting with our luggage and shopping. bed was ready each day and comfortable. all staff friendly. great chef with properly cooked meat (not modern raw singed). great menu, could not fault the way we were treated and assisted at all times. Thank you.
Review 31:Shared bathroom & place a mess & dirty after someone had used it - too noisy, band still going at 1.00am & then noisy chatter thereafter - 2 huge flights of stars to go up & down - footy channels had no signal in room
Review 32:Room was nice & had high ceilings - centrally located
Review 33:The bed covers which seem to have been there a long time as you will notice in photos on the wall downstairs. The fridge was off and a tad grubby.
Review 34:The age and history of the pub. The atmosphere when having a drink was friendly and cosy. So close to everything which is great when you don't know the area. Staff were very helpful and friendly .
Review 35:The rooms were freezing no heating no extra blankets or pillows in one of our rooms we had 3 rooms the advertising said the bar was open till one of Friday night this was not the case when we asked the staff why they said it was a quiet night not enough patrons and they decided to close the bar we had been to the prison tour which didn't finish until after 9 and this was one of the reasons we stayed at this hotel also there is no parking we parked across the street overnight cost us $40 per car
Review 36:Nothing to like about this establishment
Review 37:it was all grim-like a boarding house from the 70s-dingy dirty and didn't smell too good. But the cost of my stay was surprisingly high. I left early and booked a 4 star hotel in central Perth for less money and own bathroom!
Review 38:I liked that I didn't have to stay more than one night
Review 39:The bathroom had not been cleaned! and needs an overhaul and is too small! Walls need painting, curtains were broken. Over priced!!
Review 40:Loved the location and it was surprisingly quiet!! Furniture was lovely and big spacious rooms and good TV.
Review 41:I wouldn't stay here if you want to spend any serious time in your room.
Review 42:Right in the middle of Freo - everything at your fingertips. Rooms were old and dated, but that I'm sure helped keep the price down. Perfect for somewhere to sleep and shower after eating and drinking in Freo
Review 43:No lifts made it tricky to access second floor with luggage but it was worth it.
Review 44:Loved the two night stay in Fremantle prior to boarding our cruise. Rosy O'Grady's was perfect, central to everything and had a great dinner menu served in a cosy pub setting. We originally expected breakfast but were happy to walk to the nearby coffee strip for great breakfast options. Of course you turned on exceptional weather too 23 degrees in June!!
Review 45:1- It is a live music venue. 2 - It is in the middle of the a/h action. 3 - They are undergoing renovations. 3 - The hotel does not have a lift. All up I wasn't too concerned about these issues...but others might be.
Review 46:It has an excellent location in the middle of the town centre, with shops, cafes and pubs a plenty, transport and the beach/river within a few minutes walk. It is a very compact town centre and has a charming and historic vibe.
Review 47:Too noisy as it is close to the night club and people were sitting outside on the verandah talking in the early hours of the morning.
Review 48:Close to cinemas and food outlets.
Review 49:Solid not clean room as found hat under bed and took about 5 min for shower to get hot enough to shower and the flag poles were making a tinkering noise through the hole night so had to keep the window shut and heater did not work
Review 50:Location
Review 51:Was renovations going on and wasn't told so woken early in morning to the sound of grinders. Not cool! Dust and dirt all on the floor from reno too. Creeky floor with neighbour walking around all night! But it is an old hotel. Simple and tidy but could do with new pillows and duvet covers. No cooling and no screen on window
Review 52:The seafood pie is what I stay there for! Great staff and helpfull
Review 53:No lift to the second floor was a bit of a challenge for us old people with heavy bags. Fortunately the staff helped when we arrived, but we had to leave the next morning before the staff were back on duty. I think our room was the only one with an ensuite (tiny as it was) and it certainly could have done with some updating/modernisation.
Review 54:Excellent location in the middle of Fremantle, excellent friendly young staff to help you up the flights of stairs and answer your questions, really good dining facilities for evening meals with a glass of wine (or two).
Review 55:TV not working. Loud band, hard to sleep, bed was not comfortable. Older hotel, no modern conveniences. Had to walk up 3 flights of stairs to room and down to dining area or outdoors. Holiday weekend, hotel bar area was packed to capacity, hard to hear, hard to get service quickly.
Review 56:Convenient location, strolled to Café Row for breakfast. Dinner at hotel was pleasant.
Review 57:The bed was far too hard, the rooms are not well sound proofed and therefore you can hear every noise & the rooms are very dark and dated.
Review 58:The bar staff member, a young man with small flesh tunnels, could not have been more welcoming or helpful. When we returned in the evening it was just in time to catch the live performance by Dakota, they were awesome!
Review 59:The music was very loud first night the manager then gave us earplugs for the second night
Review 60:The evening food was nice and good can t say anything more other than it was convenient for us
Review 61:Did not see the staff. And I did not know how to checkout. And Sunday morning all the doors were locked and I could not get back into the building after a morning walk
Review 62:Staff not very helpful with parking advice. Room run down with curtains hanging off rail, torn fly screen and light bulb needed replacing on bedside lamp. Renovations in progress during weekdays 7am-4pm but we were not advised at booking or on arrival- note in room. Have stayed previously and it was better.
Review 63:Location. Live music.
Review 64:The rooms were terrible...disgusting. We got insect bites and had to leave. Have sent emails to the hotel but are not getting anything back.....
Review 65:The food was excellent
Review 66:The price could of been better for a room with a bed, where you had to share a bathroom with small showers and the bathroom had plenty of room for a much larger shower to be installed
Review 67:The accommodation was good and located well to town, markets and pubs
Review 68:We were trying to rest up for a long flight back to Canada .We also had an early departure. For two nights in a row the music was so loud we could not sleep. This affected our entire trip home as we were so tired from lack of sleep. You should consider who is in the rooms open to the noise and possibly relocate the people affected by the band noice to a room further away from the music. If we did not have an early flight we would have joined in downstairs with the party. To be honest the lack of sleep made it very uncomfortable travelling. If you wanted to give us a free stay for the inconvience we would accept. We will be back in Australia next year. Thank you....Larry Martin
Review 69:Staff were great.Rooms were clean.Hotel was what we expected.Food was good.
Review 70:Unfortunately renovation of building in progress at time of our visit but this did not bother us
Review 71:Although it was a room with shared facilities there was 2 bathrooms to 3 bedrooms
Review 72:We didn't know that the bathroom was outside of the room - 2 bathrooms shared by 3 rooms. It was clean nevertheless. The room didn't have air conditioning, and it was lucky that the weather was cool when we were there.
Review 73:Good location. Short walking distance to all major attractions, and the multi-storey car park is just across the street (we drove there thus we needed a place to park our car over night, cost us ~AUD12)
Review 74:The 4 half flights of stairs. The renovation noise at 7am in morning. This is after arriving in town in preparation for an overseas flight. The non interested and off hand attitude of the manager when confronted with our concerns.
Review 75:The kind girls at reception who took our bags up and down the stairs.
Review 76:Arriving on a saturday night was not a good idea. Up all night as there was live music in the bar, which sounded like the band was in your room.
Review 77:We both found the 49 stairs up to our Deluxe room, twice a day was aneffort. And we are quite fit Lady Bowlers. As we age more a liftwould be nice!!
Review 78:Food was very good, good atmosphere. Staff quite friendly and helpfuland late checkout. Young cleaning girls took our luggage down stairs forus as we left. Thank you for looking after our luggage while we went upthe street again before being picked up at 2.00pm.
Review 79:No hot water had to run tap for 20minites and then only Luke warm. Mould in the silicon around base of shower. Torn fly screen and dry concrete all over the window Very noisy was not informed that there was entertainment had travelled all day just wanted a hot shower and decent sleep. Not worth $160 per night would not go back.
Review 80:The WiFi wasn't working good - it was very hard to catch the signal in the whole building actually. On weekends may be pretty loud. I had a problem with getting the proper invoice (bussiness oriented), even after making this issue clear and agreed at the beginning of my stay.
Review 81:Centre of Fremantle it is! Free WiFi and clean facilities. The common Tea Room with shared dishes and free tea/coffee option is cool! Luggage storing after checkout.
Review 82:No one menchend external work on the walls or that they would be starting work at 7am bang bang banging on the walls, waking me up on my week off .
Review 83:Nice old stile hotel
Review 84:No WiFi connection from room. Also could not connect in bar area. Had to go to a KFC restaurant to work which was very inconvenient. Very old property although clean. Staff friendly but very few.
Review 85:Portable aircon didn't give out any cold air, very noisey, bed uncomfortable, bathroom very basic, had to plug kettle into a socket on the floor to make our coffee
Review 86:The rooms had not been cleaned from the previous guests by the time we arrived at 2.00 p.m.
Review 87:In view of the next comment (what we did not like), we were given an upgrade for the same price. Very good customer service!
Review 88:the shower temperature was very hard to get right, but this wasn't a major issue
Review 89:great working air conditioner, comfortable bed and spacious room. all the essentials were there, everything we needed.
Review 90:Bar closes very early and not as detailed on the main door
Review 91:Exceedingly helpful staff. The cost of the hotel was very reasonable and I would go back again.
Review 92:The room was dirty and dingy, and over priced. There was no parking connected to the place so a stay just out of town would of been more cost effective.
Review 93:The place was very central
Review 94:A small table in the room would have added to the comfort, but considering the rates, I can't really complain.
Review 95:We didn't have en suite bathroom, but there were two bathrooms right outside our door. There were two toilets with showers for three rooms. Very clean and well decorated hotel. The room was comfortable with flat screen TV. The staff were efficient. The Hotel has an Irish pub on the ground floor. The whole place has a nice ambiance with great Irish feel.
Review 96:There was a communal kitchen which was very clean, however the fridge was full of rotting food. It smelt like a trash bin that has been left in the sun for a few days. I was nearly sick when I opened the door. Be careful what you leave in the kitchen. We had 4 bottles of beer stolen from there !!
Review 97:Excellent location. Right by the square and shops. A few minutes walk from the train station. Daily maid service was very good. All the staff were helpful. The pub itself had some great evening entertainment. Despite this, the rooms were very quiet and we did not have any disturbance from the music. Very historical building.
Review 98:I only had a fan in the room and it wasn't very powerful. Nice wind down there but opening the window would have made the room vulnerable as the window was on a shared corridor. Shared bathroom was only between 3 rooms, nice and clean and didn't see anyone else.
Review 99:location was excellent, not sure I could have chosen better. The fact it was above a pub made getting food and drink easy and convenient and there was no noise disturbance at all. I was worried about the shared bathroom but itwas only between 3 rooms, nice and clean and didn't see anyone else.
Review 100:Soft mattress. No air conditioning (overhead ceiling fan but really, ineffective during the hot nights) a little noisy (but to be expected!
Review 101:The location is excellent. Fresh towels etc daily. Everywhere within walking distance. Free wifi on site. Live music at weekends
Review 102:Having paid extra for ensuite facilities I was very disappolnted with the room. The air-con didn't work & the remote control for the tv didn't. I reported this to senior staff member who said "he would go up & have a look". He did look & nothing happened. The hotel is heritage listed i understand that but the room needs new carpet, curtains & definately a new bedspread. Yuk. The room wasn't serviced eg: bed not made & bin not emptied on 01/01 good way to start the year Rosies
Review 103:The location is perfect & the bar food ia tasty. The balcony up two flights of stairs was a great place to chill out however no inhouse service is provided so it was back down the stairs to get a beverage.
Review 104:The music was loud in the evening, which might be a nice experience for young people to have, but for elder people, it was annoying.
Review 105:The staff were really friendly and helpful. We left at 6.30am to catch the express to Rottnest Island when the staff did not start to work, they let us leave the luggage in the room and move to luggage room later.
Review 106:There was an aircon , but no remote. A lot of noise from the delivery lane early morning. Water pressure for hot and cold was very concerning and nearly got scolded by the hot water all if a sudden coming through very quickly.
Review 107:Liked the cleanliness of the room.
Review 108:$163 per night, 2 flights of stairs, we are 70 years old. No assistance with luggage. At $163 per night basic breakfast should be included. Ac ran all night, no ac control, freezing by morning. Very basic. How many stars? 1 1/2 perhaps
Review 109:The price is on a par with London but freo is not. but it is all about supply and demand, the demand is big but the supply is small so all accommodation is at a premium.......
Review 110:The location could not be better and the staff are very good . The building has an old world charm that only comes with age, but if you want all mod cons then book a new soulless minimalist hotel and enjoy... It has music 4 nights a week but on a couple of nights when we wanted an early night it was no bother . No lift , well it is over a hundred years old , im 66 and we were on the top floor but apart from a bit of huffing and puffing it was not a problem.so if you have a good attitude give it a try if not book the Hilton in Perth
Review 111:The fridge in the tea room was tiny, full of someone's food, had rust stains and the freezer was over flowing with ice. Could not see the complimentary milk so didn't bother having a coffee
Review 112:Location was perfect and the price great. Have stayed here twice, best value in freo.
Review 113:Tv, only free to air channels and some channels were losing reception in my room. This might have been an isolated issue with my room only though.
Review 114:Located away from the main busy street but only 2 min walk away. Quiet rooms Good email communication to confirm booking Room cleaned daily Bed made daily. Restaurant foods was good value (considering it's Perth and everything is so expensive.)
Review 115:We had a room on the third floor and there was no elevator. The ensuite bathroom was adequtate but very narrow. There was no place to put personal grooming items in the bathroom. There was an old style lock n the room and the hotel was very accessible to outsiders which raised a question about security.
Review 116:The location was very good. It was close to major tourist attractions, cafes, restaurants and the local free transit. The ensuite room was large with high ceilings. The architecture was interesting. There is a pub on site. On a Monday and Tuesday night it was quiet.
Review 117:If you're planning an early night this location probably isn't ideal as the music can be heard from the rooms, didn't bother us much but something to note.
Review 118:Great value for money. Centrally located close to coffee strip. Ideal location for day trip to Rottnest Island. Breakfast was good. Friendly staff.
Review 119:creaking floorboards everywhere in the room ( no13 ). Having to move the kettle to another power point as the cord wouldn`t reach the plug where it was situated. The hot water in the shower should have a temperature control as it can scald if not aware.
Review 120:large room, comfortable bed, clean room, everything within walking distance. Very friendly staff
Review 121:There is no lift and had to carry luggage up two flights of stairs. Reception not manned after business hours. Shared bathrooms....tea room - no teaspoons, plastic mugs...cheap coffee and the small bar fridge was pretty dirty....
Review 122:The staff were pleasant...
Review 123:lamps and general presentation of the room very poor- large tears on the curtains. lamp bases filthy with dust-poor presentation in bathroom
Review 124:if not for Tyson and staff I would have left the facility
Review 125:no elevator and up two flights to our room , difficult with luggage. decor is very jaded and needs freshening up and cleaning could be more thorough.
Review 126:central location is excellent and easy to walk to all places of interest , buses , and restaurants. the room was quiet and spacious.
Review 127:Dated, dark, with a shared bathroom. There are not many options in central Freo. Ok for a single man. Glad I didn't ask my girlfriend to come with me on this trip.
Review 128:Staff
Review 129:No kettle! No fridge. First floor reception. No elevator for heavy luggage. Bar was closed before closing time on Sunday.
Review 130:Comfy bed. Quiet night. Accessible bathrooms. Good location.
Review 131:the food was really bad! the first night I had fish of the it was on some green leaves with half a tin of baby corn. the next night I had the pork belly it was so dry I couldn't eat it it was on half mashed potatoes and boiled cabbage.
Review 132:room was a little dusty, could have done with a vaccume under the beds.
Review 133:great central location, didn't even notice we were sharing a bathroom with other people.
Review 134:We left the bar at 0.30 and went to the nightclub around the corner. The person I was sharing with returned to the hotel first. When I returned I realised I had left my key in my room (my fault). After knocking for 20-25 minutes a cleaner came to the door and shouted through the glass that he would get someone to let me in. Someone else came into the hall looked at me through the glass and then walked away. I had to wait until the doors were opened the next morning to get in. After spending $210 for the room (that I didn't get to use) I was very disappointed with this level of service. Will not be returning.
Review 135:Bar staff were great, food was really good and the person I dealt with on the phone was very helpful.
Review 136:Can't say anything because it was the best experience.
Review 137:Rosie o'gradys is an amazing hotel and felt like back at home especially the bar and the accommodation was outstanding loved every second of it there.
Review 138:the band down stairs was bad enough but to have a private party with full band on the floor below our bed till 1am that was too much. air con vibrated so bad it shook the wall had to turn off . Reception was closed most times. carried suit cases up & down stairs no help. too excpensive for so low standard .
Review 139:nothing
Review 140:Supertiny Bathroom/Shower/Toilet combo. Long overdue for a do-up. Insecure lock Average cleanliness
Review 141:Central Freemantle location Good Price Historic Charm Friendly staff
Review 142:The Stairs Parking in the overnight carpark cost $37.40, valet parking at Esplanade only costs $29.00 so security and price win out for that venue
Review 143:The Location The Pub The Meals The room was adequate and clean
The Fine Print
