Reviews for Jetwing Yala

Review 1:The a la carte restaurant is new and has some way to go before it gets ?Asian fusion right. The service was good, but the food was awful.

Review 2:Our rooms were located at the far end of the complex in the dunes. Very peaceful and beautiful. The main restaurant was excellent, if a little slow. It was immaculately clean and well maintained. The pool was gorgeous and monkeys came down to it to drink. Animals roamed the dunes freely.

Review 3:Beach is a little tough for swimming but plenty of lifeguards on duty.

Review 4:The most amazing hotel we stayed in Sri Lanka. A little piece of heaven! Amazing rooms, gym, pool. Staff are very helpful! Beach is stunning. We stayed here after safari to relax. Hotel is in remote area but you won't want for anything. Wish we could have stayed longer!

Review 5:Worst service ever. We had to wait over 2 hours to be checked in. This was after we had made the booking over a month ago and having called the hotel 2 times to let them know we are coming.

Review 6:Amazing views and amazing hotel

Review 7:This hotel is an absolute stunner. Amazing views, spacious toilets, beautiful interior & exterior design. Massive pool, awesome gym. Helpful staff and a very romantic al fresco dining area at night. Right by the beach and within a few minutes drive to the Yala Safari. Hands down the best place we stayed in all of Sri Lanka!

Review 8:The welcome was poor The kettle in the room was difficult to use The pool hadn't been cleaned at 8am Room service has an added charge which I feel was poor form for such an expensive hotel! Check out took far too long.

Review 9:The beach , the rooms , the food were all excellent

Review 10:our driver/guide mentioned that his accommodation (driver's quarters provided by hotel) was full of bed bugs and he ended up sleeping in the car for the night which was not good as he had to drive us for a couple of hours the following day. Hopefully, the management will look into this and improve on it! Roads to the hotel was unpaved. Food options: there was only buffet available at the restaurant.

Review 11:location: close to yala national park, private and quiet beach staff: friendly even though they were very slow during check in rooms: huge room and bathroom with good hot showers! The wandering cows and a shy wild boar on the hotel grounds was a nice touch to the safari feel!

Review 12:The only negative thing was booking a tuk tuk with the reception staff and it turning up half an hour late. Luckily we were getting a bus that ran on a regular service but wouldn't have been good if we had a specific train booked!

Review 13:Amazing hotel with access to the beach (with a beach bar). Beautiful pool, and loved that there were so many animals (monkeys, stags, boar!).

Review 14:The walk to the rooms is very long from the reception.

Review 15:Being pure vegetarians , we had limited options in the buffet , but the head chef went out of his way to have paneer makhanwala be served at dinner and dosa during breakfast and attended to us personally . The huge pool under the starlit sky was an added luxury.

Review 16:Huge comfortable room! Long long way from room to main building with reception and restaurants. The crowls steal bread from tables just in front of you! The a-la-card restaurant is really good with delicious food! Service is perfect! It seems some wild animals walk along the corridors and territory at nights

Review 17:Just a bit of a drive into town- was a bit of a rough ride in a tuk tuk down the dirt road, so if your planning on going into tissa a lot then it may be a bit annoying, but if your staying at the accommodation and doing a safari then it's perfect! We loved it!

Review 18:Amazing accommodation- rooms were great and the pool is a great place to relax

Review 19:Remote from town/city and other facilities; not enough variety of different kinds of food in hotel restaurant.

Review 20:Comfortable environment, some food in the hotel restaurants

Review 21:We booked a package which included game drives to Yala. Only on arrival were we informed Yala was shut and only expected to open on the day we checked out. This was the main reason for visiting this hotel and so we were disappointed not to have been informed of the hotel by email in advance so we had the opportunity to reschedule our trip. We were offered a safari at Bundalla instead which we did thoroughly enjoy so not all was lost!

Review 22:Tented Villas were excellent and set away from the main hotel giving a feeling of "exclusivity". Bed was amazing! Option of indoor or outdoor shower. Lovely touches from butler at turndown with locally made sweets and some fruit and water. Hotel pool area very well kept and a pleasure to spend time relaxing there with a drink in the sun. Meals were a really high standard whether breakfast, lunch or dinner the menu was varied and food of top quality. Staff very friendly and nothing too much trouble.

Review 23:the hotel is very large and some rooms are literally in the middle of now where, far from the reception, restaurant and swimming pool. Our first room was there and we changed it.

Review 24:The hotel design and decoration

Review 25:Not too easy to be found if you don't have a local driver/guide.

Review 26:Very good location with private beach. Quiet, near to the YALA national park though we didn't go there due to seasonal closure. Very good room, clean, big, good view, especially for the great bed!!! I should I had stayed there more nights, what a shame...

Review 27:We could not find fault with anything.

Review 28:Hotel was great, location was great, room was fabulous, we could have stayed for much longer. We specially loved sitting on the balcony, drink in hand, watching the sunset with the waves crashing on the beach. There were lots of monkeys, wild pigs and we even saw a large wild bull elephant in the car park.

Review 29:Access road is a track only suitable for 4x4 s, Due to location so remote from the nearest village you have to make do with provision an amenities provided by the hotel.

Review 30:Good size rooms with large bathroom with open air showers, sea views with private balcony, Sand dunes and beach area just like home. However the visiting wildlife make this hotel unique.

Review 31:Yala national park was closed for yearly maintenance during September so we couldn't see Leopards. حديقة يالا كانت مغلقة للصيانه السنوية ، لم نستطع زيارة الحديقة و لم نشاهد الفهود التي تشتهر بها الحديقة

Review 32:buffet had good variety espiccially salads, tranquility, animals visiting all day long, the urban design of the hotel بوفيه الطعام متنوع خصوصا السلطات، الجو العام الهادئ، الحيوانات تتجول حول الفندق، للحداثة بتصميم الفندق

Review 33:Most people staying in the hotel were on safari for which they set off early (before breakfast started), it would be nice if some breakfast incl coffee could be provided earlier, the pack breakfast didn't quite work. Given that it is an Eco hotel filtered water rather than bottled would be good.

Review 34:lovely pool, great location on the beach, good life guards to help with sea swimming and surfing, near to Yala.

Review 35:Amazing setting in heart of national park. Fantastic views of the sea and pool from our room. Very attentive staff who were nice and engaging. Huge pool (75m long) which was open until 8pm so great for swimming. Felt like the company was very ethical with lots of great energy initiatives and good relationship with community. Highly recommended.

Review 36:The only downfall is the lack of ease transport wise to hotel. As only possible to get their via taxi .

Review 37:Lots of nature around hotel, we saw warthogs, cows around the pool during the day. The pool is very trendy with a gorgeous beach very close by with a lovely beach bar. The hotel is very chiq With amAzing views. The cocktails are amazing also.

Review 38:Nothing.

Review 39:Amazing stay at an excellent hotel. Very reasonable price for B and B basis and the buffet dinner too. Lovely pool area and luxurious room. Staff arranged all safari drives and airport transfer to make every aspect of our stay easy. Super relaxed vibe, great location and a wonderful stay.

Review 40:The road leading to the hotel needs to be done up. Also more sign boards to be displayed to make it easier for guests to find their way to the hotel.

Review 41:Amazing holiday destination. Enjoyed every minute of our stay. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. Delicious food options with a variety.

Review 42:We found the pool bar staff very unhelpful with them refusing to serve us coffee at the pool side or even getting another bottle of rum from the key hotel so we couldn't enjoy a mojito.

Review 43:The hotel is in a great location with beautiful sea views. The staff are friendly and food delicious.

Review 44:The coffee. They should create better beach access so you don't have to walk through an unpleasant area of the hotel.

Review 45:We like the beach and the room. The animals that are around the property.

Review 46:Free wifi was hard to use and the road to the hotel was really hard to drive.

Review 47:Everything in this hotel was prefect! Friendly staff, delicious dinner and breakfast, low price, located near the Yala national park, big room with a large bathroom, simple and Morden design..... Beautiful sights! Everything was perfect and the hotel itself was a surprise or magic to me and my parents!!

Review 48:The food could be of a better standard to match the quality of this hotel.

Review 49:friendly staff, location and the enourmous rooms with balcony. great place to put the feet up and only 5mins from the ocean.

Review 50:The wi fi is not so good, the dinner and the buffet are not recommend it was very expensive and not tasty.

Review 51:The hotel is beautiful, the best one we have visited through our honeymoon tour at sri lanka, just perfect!

Review 52:Pool closed at 8pm which is early if you are coming back from safari and would like a swim after dinner. This seems to be a common closing time fore hotel pools in Sri Lanka

Review 53:everything about the hotel complex is lovely, very tranquil and relaxing. Price with breakfast was very good using bookings.com

Review 54:The road leading to the hotel is bumpy, I heard it's the hotel's intention for guests to feel "the local way", but i really don't find it charming. Also it's a little bit difficult to communicate with some staff.

Review 55:Great facilities! The ocean view is magnificent. And you get to see a lot of wild animals in the hotel, monkeys and hogs around the pool.

Review 56:everything.....from the room to the massive pool to the beach nearby, the dinner, the care taken by chef to preapare special vegetarian meals, ... excelllent property.

Review 57:Can't even think of a little single thing. Maybe the service can be a little slow sometimes because it s a big hotel. But come on, you are on holiday. what's the rush.

Review 58:Every single thing! There is too many things I could rave about. Of all the hotels I have stayed around the world, the is my favorite hotel and I want to stay here for 2 weeks next time! Room, decor, facilities, service, food, ethnic of the hotel, environment, view, pool, nature...everything is perfection!!! I am a nature lover. We saw so many animals around the hotel. Even wild boars!!! The beach near the hotel was also so rough in an artistic way. I usually don't buy the ethical company thing but this hotel really touched me by taking care of the surrounding stray dogs. I love this hotel too much!! We were on our honey moon and hotel even gave us really nice honey moon surprise! Even the service at the restaurant was impeccable. What was really personal is there is no business centre but when I need to use laptop, the receptionist just borrowed me their work laptop.

Review 59:- None

Review 60:- Welcome smile and drinks - Room (205) - Location - Pool - Room Service - Food - Spacious Bathroom - Ceiling Fan - Balcony with desk - Friendly Staff - SPA

Review 61:We have no complaints whatsoever.

Review 62:Beautiful hotel built to blend in with the landscape making maximum use of the stunning views of the ocean. Efficient and attentive staff who know how to demonstrate true Sri Lankan hospitality. Tasty food.

Review 63:The food was a huge disappointment especially as I consistently stay with Jetwing properties whenever I visit.

Review 64:A luxury resort in the middle of the jungle by the sea....despite the bumpy road getting there, once at Jetwing Yala you realize it was worth the trip. Jetwing has managed to provide its guests with proper luxury without cutting any corners despite the location. The staff are amazing, the rooms and entire hotel are spotless and a refreshing surprise was a prompt, proper laundry service as good as any 5 star in the city. That and the fact that Jetwing Yala strives to be as eco friendly as possible. Kudos to the GM and his team. Special mention to the hotel's housekeeper, Dhammika for going out of his way to accommodate my requirements as per my laundry needs. That kind of service is what defines a hotel and has guests like me coming back again and again.

Review 65:The rooms were wonderful--beds were amazing! The bathrooms too were incredible. Food was very good - this was a great stay, and we really enjoyed the comforts of the hotel after an exhausting day at the Yala National park.

Review 66:Hotel charged booking.com credit-card before check-out and without any notification, so be careful if you want to use another card.

Review 67:Really lose location to Yala National park. Elephants and other animals are chilling right on the hotel territory. Good swimming pool, comfy beds. Perfect stay for Yala visiting.

Review 68:The water ponds running along the entrance to the rooms are dirty. The only small details they should reconsider to change but doesn´t impact the stay!

Review 69:The stylish spacious room with partial sea view is very nice decorated. The bath is just huge and has two kind of showers (rainforest + waterfall) The beds are very comfy and the pool ist over dimensional and not crowded (except for the 20 monkies, wild boars and a kind of deer who surrounded the pool area!). The restaurant offer lovely sea breeze and the food (BBQ night) was excellent and well prepared. The resort boasts of course the premium site for a visit to Yala national park which was the reason for most guests to check in at Jetwing Yala.

Review 70:Not really a bad experience but the sea swimming opportunity just opening is quite a walk in the heat of the day.

Review 71:This is quite a large hotel but it never felt too busy. Lovely swimming pool to relax in between game drives. The main dining room was quite busy but the bar offered a full menu and had excellent staff

Review 72:Service and Quality of Food are not according to the very high room rate. Value for Money not given....

Review 73:Location is nice, but not easy to acces. Rooms are really spacious and well equipped.

Review 74:Wifi is very poor. The location is very poor, and you need 45 minutes of driving on sandy bumpy roads very slowly just to get to the hotel. Yala Naitonal Park was not great at all, we barely saw any interesting animals. Price is TOO high because booking.com prices didnt include taxes, and this hotel is in Sri Lanka, not Dubai! Way too pricey.

Review 75:Amazing hotel, with huge balcony terrace in your hotel room, state of the art design. Amazing facilities including beautiful large pool, large restaurant. Great buffet food, and open style bathroom to see nature! Very impressive design and very luxurious.

Review 76:The tented hut! Safari was a mass scramble of 4 by 4's. V lucky if see a leopard. Guide could not speak English and just pointed out clearly visible and identifiable animals. Felt like being back in primary school. They expect a tip over and above the safari cost. So check if your driver is getting a guide and you may wish to say no thanks - unless you would struggle to identify an elephant or peacock that is!!

Review 77:The food was fantastic and staff very friendly welcoming and accommodating. We booked a tented hut but wanted to move as hotel rooms much nicer, cheaper and more convenient for hotel facilities. Fine dining available but book early as only 1. You can also bargain on price of dune dining.

Review 78:Road to the hotel very bumpy, costs a lot of time to get there (however this is not the hotels fault). Is there a reason why the beach cannot be utilised? It's right at the hotel and we enjoyed walking there, even though it's a rough beach, but stunningly beautiful. A wooden pathway to the beach would be awesome.

Review 79:Very close to Yala entrance. Accommodating and genuine staff. Beautiful, large rooms with terraces overlooking the pool and the dune. Very good breakfast selection, dinner a la carte or buffet possible. Lot of outdoor areas.

Review 80:Really enjoyed the hotel and it's pool. Be aware if you have mobility problrma aa it is a bit of a walk to between thd dining room abd some of the rooms. Found the bed and sheets to be the most comfortable of our trip. The bar food/Al a carte menu was a.good price considering its a 5 star hotel. Would love to stay again if I had the opportunity.

Review 81:It has the most impractical bathroom in any of the hotels I stayed: no place to hang towels where you need them, the toiletry dispensers don't dispense -- a real struggle to get shampoo out of the little container, same for the other items. No place to hang a bathing suit, although one can place them out in the balcony. No air conditioning in the bathroom and pretty impossible to keep the door open to improve ventilation (I used a basket to hold the door open, and had to jump over it each time I used the bathroom.) Lots of noise in the bathroom from neighbors. The reception lady wasn't very helpful, but everybody else seemed to be making an effort. I was surprised by the strong smell of disinfectant in the outdoor dining area during dinner and was told that it was due to animals nearby -- strange.

Review 82:I loved the location, on an beautiful area, and near Yala National Park, and the gigantic swimming pool. My room and balcony were large and comfortable.

Review 83:the road to the hotel is a bit bumpy unless you arrive in a 4x4 (not really the hotel's fault though)

Review 84:the location - right on the edge of Yala, on a deserted bit of beach - very raw and unspoilt. The semi outdoor bathrooms and the big terraces on the first floor rooms are amazing. food is generally great too

Review 85:Food isn't that great. Small thing, but getting a chicken curry with lots of small little bones in it isn't appropriate for a hotel like this. You should be using whole leg or breast.

Review 86:Bed, Bathroom, Balcony on top floor, pool is amazing.

Review 87:The road to the hotel is still under construction, waiting staff of the restaurant could improve on english, laundry service is quite expensive

Review 88:Luxury at unbeatable price (though it is true there was a 85% discount at the time:) ), spacious rooms with stylish modern interior and excellent facilities, first-class dinner buffet for a reasonable price with a very wide selection of perfectly made dishes, huge pool with a bar attached, right next to Yala entrance

Review 89:Road to the hotel is very poor.

Review 90:I did like everything in this hotel, food, pool, beach, jungle. Yes! All in one place. A must visit hotel in Sri Lanka.

Review 91:1. Breakfast was good, but not buffet and it takes chef a very long time to prepare it.

Review 92:1. Location and views were great 2. New hotel with modern design 3. Very spacious room with interesting decor, especially bathroom 4. Great bar with ocean view

Review 93:Cockroaches in bathroom, because of the open bathroom plan, but they removed it immediately.

Review 94:Amazing place, very good value for money, delicious food, 10 min from safari spot

Review 95:The service is very poor - I had to help myself to a menu several times and my room didn't have soap. The service was extremely slow and although some staff were friendly the majority of them were not very good.

Review 96:The bedroom was large and comfortable. And the hotel is very near the entrance to Yala national park but those are the only good elements.

Review 97:coming to the hotel from Yalla village no clear signs and no road conditions warrninning signs. Other than that, it is lovely.

Review 98:I like all the staffs; they are very cheerful and helpful. They are prompt and accomidating. The facilty is nice and include a huge swiming pool.

Review 99:1. BUGS; flying beetles, all over the place. 2. Small spa for the size of the property - only 2 spa rooms. 3. Most of the staff (except for the restaurant) can't speak English.

Review 100:1. Beautiful, beautiful property. 2. On the beach. 3. Fantastic swimming pool. 4. Service at Reception and in the Restaurant is wonderful.

Review 101:Food - need to address vegitarians.... Most of the High Net worth tourists are vegitarians.... Kindly look into it...

Review 102:Everything .... Sure to come back to spend more time in the hotel...

Review 103:Access to the beach is a bit tricky and far. See view a bit hidden by the dunes. However must be a good barrier from tsunamis.

Review 104:The room is great, lovely bathroom, the lobby, the staff, overall design.

Review 105:No beach for Swimming. To reach the sea, you have to wander of the dunes, but see the pool

Review 106:very close to the NP which is a real Advantage. Real Swimming pool (50m) Food was excellent Room and bathroom very nice desin

Review 107:Everything especially the massages The best we have ever had So professional

Review 108:Staff is well-meaning and helpful but very slow, inneficient and inexperienced

Review 109:Living with the animals, beautiful beach

Review 110:The surrounding wildlife and hospitality of the staff

Review 111:Fabulously run hotel on Yala beach with a beautiful pool with deer wild boar and a cow wandering around the grounds

Review 112:The bugs in the bathroom floor

Review 113:Everything was amazing. Especially the animals wandering around the hotel.

Review 114:Food is very disappointing

Review 115:Very comfortable Excellent location close to the entrance gate of Yala Park Staff helpful

Review 116:Not an easy place to get to.

Review 117:Great stay, good hotel, nice bar area for food and good value all around. Animals roaming around - kool.

Review 118:The front desk staff is always smile and make you feel comfortable. We have a wonderful time in Jetwing Yara.

Review 119:Price

Review 120:Very nice ecology hotel

Review 121:Everything from the amazing staff to the superb location.

Review 122:Wildlife in abundance on the property!

Review 123:oustanding food (for breakfast and dinner) very close to the national park staff extremely kind and present

Review 124:could not fault it.

Review 125:Excellent hotel. Good friendly staff. Great food, great facilities (pool, bar, beach). great location if you want to go on Safari

Review 126:Beautiful hotel, great rooms and great staff

Review 127:The location - decor and ambiance.

Review 128:The pool was fantastic, the buffets were great with so many choices. Staff welcomed us and helped us to have a wonderful time there.

Review 129:Kids loved the pool.

Review 130:The demeaning attitude of a minority of guests toward staff. Not a.fault of the hotel.

Review 131:Just about everything

Review 132:Absolutely nothing to complain about

Review 133:Lovely view of the ocean. Excellent rooms. Very relaxing experience overall. Loved it!
