Reviews for Kohjum Resort

Review 1:Since it is a jungle resort there are a lot of animals; monkeys, geckos, spiders. Natural but sometimes a bit scary for us who are not used. Food could be hotter, you do not have to adapt it so much.

Review 2:It is a great place, and the beach is good during high tide. The pool is good all times. Staff is wonderful!

Review 3:Villas aren't really that much better than regular bungalows. Save your money and spend it on the lovely food.

Review 4:Great location...! lovely atmosphere, very peaceful.

Review 5:The cottage we had was very basic for the cost in comparison to other resorts. There was no where to hang your clothes only and area to lay them in. We only had a fan which was ok. Mosquito nets have been stitched up when they have had holes in these could do with replacing.

Review 6:The location is fantastic. The view from the cottage we had was outstanding. Beach was great and good for swimming and snorkelling but would recommend going in the morning as it is clear to see the fish around the rocks than in the afternoon when the sea tended to get a little choppier. The food in the restaurant was very good and reasonably priced and the staff were always courteous and attentive. The resort is located on a hillside so the walk to a from the beach was great exercise but if you are a less able person this could be a problem.

Review 7:it doesn't look too much like the pictures, as details are badly finished, there is leftover construction materials under the bungalows and the pool, the pool has broken tiles, there is litter to the side of the restaurant deck, etc, etc. Little things that would give a much better impression to guests. The mosquito net in our room was not big enough so it wouldn't keep closed at night, I had to use hair clips after I got demolished by mosquitoes in the first night. The beach in front of the hotel is not good for swimming as it is full of rocks, unless you go on high tide. Still the water is not clear. The beaches in the south are better.

Review 8:Staff is helpful and the rooms were big. The food at the hotel was pretty good.

Review 9:Good food, very romantic suraundings, few steps from main beach you will find empty beach, you can rent a motor bike,to get to village for 200 bath for half day,

Review 10:Strikes a perfect balance between a high-end resort and a cheap-and-cheerful BnB. Staff was great. Personally I loved the swimming pool, which you won't find anywhere else in this price range on Koh Jum.

Review 11:However, the main problem might be its location, depending on what you want. Ting Ray Beach is rocky and not always clean, making it difficult to swim. It´s easy to hurt yourself! If you are with kids it might be ok because it’s isolate, but it´s very frustrating being in Thailand and not able to swim! It´s also far from the main village (about 5km), so you are forced to eat at their restaurant (a bit pricy) or in any other resort nearby. Tuk-tuk won’t you take back from the village, as the road is unpaved. They will drop you about 1km away from the resort. The island is nice and a good place to rest, doing nothing. But the next time I would be southern (from Golden Pearl Resort) and down where the beach is amazing and close to the cozy village.

Review 12:The hotel is comfortable, clean and staff is always helpful. You can trust on any good review.

Review 13:- we had no hot water in the room for full stay ( we have reported it but was never fixed as result of I got ill) -some staff member do not care - there was a safe box in room but it was not mounted against any wall so it can be easily taken away -snack and beverages overprices and poor choose of fruits)

Review 14:- Location, location, Location, - Very good local food - specially see food (but - not breakfast due limited choises) - nice and quiet place to relax even with kids - beautiful sunsets views from pool and restaurant - hassle free scooter renting - ferry transport from Krabi - relaxing place

Review 15:No bad experience really but would have appreciated if they also had fresh coconuts at the restaurant. No shops close by unless u go to the village about 1 km away.

Review 16:Everything! We stayed in a beach villa and it was absolutely amazing. The staff was really great, food was tasty, the beach location wonderful. Would recommend it to everyone I know.

Review 17:It was hard to get there, i would contact the hotel before you travel and organise the best way of getting there. Because it was so remote sometimes they wouldn't have the food or drinks you wanted. Bed was pretty hard.

Review 18:The manager was helpful. The room was big, I would suggest getting the beach front villa. beautiful beach and view. Very relaxing! We went during the off peak season so there wasn't many people. Food was good.

Review 19:As mention the light on the beach was switched off when we were still seating there :(

Review 20:Out side, nice beach and no to much people, go to COCONUT BEACH !! Heaven :)

Review 21:The staff as said in other reviews sour faces and don't even try to pleasant with you a shame as they let the resort down . The deck chairs are nice but really could do with some sun loungers on the beach . Food ok but take the short stroll up the beach to Tingraibay resort food plenty of choice and very tasty with good service .

Review 22:The location was good other resorts along the each to eat. The resort clean and tidy we stay in the largest villa with balcony with ocean view really large space inside. Pool area ok for a dip. Hired scooter to take a look around island as said in other reviews if your looking for night life this island is not for you. We enjoyed the simple village life. The beach had rocks but still ok to take a swim . The crabs funny to watch when tide out after heavy rain !! Relaxing few days to unwind not for long stay .

Review 23:On 2nd look everything got worse...bed linen was used and dirty- notchanged during our stay as well as towels (dirty as well with yellowflecks, not caused by usage, it was just dirty.. A loooot of insect inthe room, I know it's not rare in Thailand, but I havent't seenthat much during 3 weeks as I saw at Koh Jum resort!!! Mosquitto net wasso dirty, full of dead insect and with wholes so we didn't use it.We payed for a room with wonderful bathtub, unfortunately we only tookquick showers instead of romantic sitting in the bathtub, with seaviewbecause the water was yellow and was impossible to set. It was too coldor too hot, nothing in the middle.. Wifi worked well only at thereception and sometimes didn't wark at all, as well as electricity. The sea was not for swimming during day but the pool was quitedirty..Breakfast was included in the price we paid but if you're nota fan of eggs you'll probably eat just the fruit again andagain..just 2 options where to eat on whole beachside, both overpricedbut you don't have any other chance as you are surrounded just byforrest and even people living at the island recommeded us not to go tothe village after sunset. The only way how to explore the island isrenting a motorbike at the resort. As much as you can please don'trent a motorbike at koh jum resort!!! Then we saw the real face ofmanagement and staff! They will not offer you insurance, even when youask for that, they pretend they're not there, or don'tunderstand what you want (they probably don't pretend they don'tunderstand...) and in the end you don't expect an accident so youwill take it anyway. They won't offer you a helmet even if it'srequired by law and you can get fined or seriously hurt..

Review 24:First impression very good - the staff was nice, bungalow looked great, chilly pool and nice beach. The real feel of Thailand when you areexploring, but somebody could say there's nothing to see, just theforrest, dry beach and small village.

Review 25:Very old air con/fan unit in the room did very little. New aircon would make this an absolute winner of a resort. That being said we were fortunate that an evening storm and the sea breeze helped clear the humidity

Review 26:Views, seafood bbq

Review 27:It wasn't a bad experience, but the food is pretty much uneventful.

Review 28:The location. The deck. The bed. The views of the horizon. The quietness of it all.

Review 29:It's might be hard for someone who like convenience to stay without AC, TV, and fridge, if you stay in bamboo villa. Believe me you don't need it

Review 30:Villa are close to the beace, with attractive sea view. There is calm and romantic place for who love natural

Review 31:It's place is awesome! I should be writing this as it's perfect just how it is. Without the crouds of tourists spoiling the resort or island ;)

Review 32:But we didn't like the staff at all. We did not get any information about the facilities from the hotel or on the island. Over all the staff was verry unfriendly. We also regret that there was no fridge in the bungalow. In the hotel you can buy water but it will cost you 70 bhat (in town it costs you 20 baht).

Review 33:We did like yhe view, the bungalow, the island itself

Review 34:There is no trash on the beach and garden which is not convenient. The beach and garden should be better cleaned.

Review 35:Private beach, sunset, bungalows made of natural mateials just in front of the beach with great sea view, nice garden, good restaurant, manager Nop very helpful and always do his best to fullfill our needs and wishes.

Review 36:This was the most expensive accomodation we had throughout our vacation in Thailand. The bungalows really are nice, but in total it was not worth the high price. - rooms could have been taken care of a bit better (cleaning, sometimes towels missing, minibar not filled completely, shower flooding the whole bathroom but the flood was never cleaned away, toilet seat needed a replacement, closet could not be closed, balkony chairs could have used new paint or replacement) - pool and pool area small and could be made a bit nicer - we were two couples with two bungalows, but only three chairs in a bungalow - taxi required to get to the village. hotel car expensive. - as we expected to arrive too late for the last ferry we booked a pickup with the resort boat from Leam Kruat - for horrendous money - we expected it would be easier to organize tours/activities directly from Ko Jum. finally we left earlier back to Krabi as that was the easier option for us.

Review 37:- very nice bungalows - nice restaurant and bar area - away from everything, perfect for relaxing - beach quite nice but not white powder sand, also stones and small on high tide - beach cleaned directly in front of the resort (but only there) - manager was so nice to let us go earlier without having to pay for the whole prebooked days

Review 38:No parties around in the island.

Review 39:The place is amazing and quite. The view from bungalow fantastic. The resort's beach is nice to have a sunbath but not to swim, indeed you can ask receceptiom to go to freedom beach ( amaxing view and perfect to swim).

Review 40:KohJum Resort A nice, quiet, clean and children friendly resort with own beach and bungalows on a slope, we stayed here 15 nights in Dec 2014. One of a few resorts on the island that has a swimming pool and a nice garden/forest park. Free wi-fi available in the whole resort, clean and nice beach (at hightide sand, at low tide little stony), shower and bar at the beach. Very good meals - also non-spicy for children. Housing in local style, not air-conditioned, bungalows made of non-brick materials like wood, stone - a change to European standards, in our opinion local upper middle class. Good quality for a reasonable price. The resort offers trips to near-by islands with their own boat or by public ferry, can provide you with island taxi service or boat shuttle etc. Management, reception and some of the restaurant staff speak English. All the local team incl. Manager Mr. Nop were always very helpful and did their best to fulfill all our needs and wishes. We recommend this resort to everyone who want to escape from the city and just relax.

Review 41:The place is situated in the jungle and don't expect 5 star luxury, our only gripe was the showers they really need to get proper mixers valves as the showers are either too cold or too hot.

Review 42:Overall a great place to stay and recharge the batteries, if your looking for excitement look some other place. The location is perfect for chilling out on the beach and watching the sun set over Phi Phi Islands, we found all the staff very helpful and the food was very nice but a little on the expensive side and small portions, we ate most nights at the Last Fisher a 100 or so metres up the beach. The resort is pretty easy to reach and you can explore the small island by scooter in a day although many of the roads are graded dirt style, try eating at Koh Jum Seafood a 10 minute scooter ride away the food was awesome. Overall the resort is a great relaxing place for a two or three night chill out, any longer and you may wish to take the short boat ride to Phi Phi for the night to get a change of scenery.

Review 43:amazing sunset over PhiPhi perfectly relaxed place very nice staff just good!

Review 44:cannot imagine a better place to find peace and tranquility in a beautiful environment !

Review 45:Some mosquitoes but it would have been fine with repellent.

Review 46:The staff were friendly, food was excellent and the location is completely jawdropping

Review 47:The tranquility, the views and exploring the island on a scooter. Beautiful room, very clean.

Review 48:food could be better, extra beds could be more comfortable

Review 49:Perfect place - lovely quite and nice. Clean, comfotable.

Review 50:A bit far from a village. Poor road quality after rain.

Review 51:location, nice stuff, quite surrounding, massage ☺

Review 52:Far away from everything, either you feel locked or relieved

Review 53:Difficult to reach in low season.

Review 54:Silence, peace.

Review 55:Some of the food at the restaurant was inedible. We didn't bother with breakfast again after trying it the first day. Stick to theThai food as that's not too bad.

Review 56:The beach was fantastic. Room was huge. Staff were very friendly.

Review 57:The manager was very unfriendly and rude at times. The rooms were not cleaned properly.

Review 58:The location was beautiful. The swimming pool. The food was ok but over priced (although all the food on Ko Jum was expensive). The breakfast was good.

Review 59:Price for room and restaurant is quite high for the location. Hotel management should not put any food in the room since this attract small animals in the room, including small rats.

Review 60:Uncrowded beach, resort in the middle of the forest, very god restaurant

Review 61:Unfortunately we had some 'misunderstandings' - not at our advantage. However - we could clearify everything but it was a bit stressful. When we arrived, we had a downgrade and nobody told us. We went back to the reception - we had to stay one night in the downgrade-bungalow. We were refunded but if we would not have said anything we would have stayed there I think... At the restaurand they offered a seafood plate, we asked twice for the price and it was 500 Baht (for two). We took it and we signed the bill without veryfing (that is a bad idea, I know). It was very tasteful and so we took the same plate the second night. It was after signing the bill on the second evening that we recognized that 2000 Baht (50 Euro) is very very overpriced for dinner!!! So we saw that they factured 1500 Baht both times instead of 500! We discussed with the chef (?) who was very unfriendly and did not want to hear anything. He proposed a one-time discount of 500 Baht (!?!?). However he insisted the price was 1500 which was a lot more expensive than the à la carte fish - here the prices where shown directly where we stood. We felt cheated. The next day we went to the General Manager and he directly gave us the original price and even proposed to invite us... In some way that confirms some other reviews who say that the staff is not qualified. We found everybody very friendly though and they seemed to take the reviews seriously. I think they should show the prices to avoid misunderstandings... The educational tour was a good intention but it got real dangerous - see above. Koh Jum has a no waste system...

Review 62:It was very calm and restful, the teakwood villa is very beutiful, nature is splendid, we could see the monkeys from our balcony. The restaurand serves very good food and cocktails - try pink lady! The hotel proposed a free educational tour around the island (note: don't do that by night - the boat has no light and we nearly had a boat crash with another longtail without any light - very dangerous!!). If you have any problems, go directly to the general manager who will surely find a good solution.

Review 63:In this peaceful place the bungalows are equipped with more than you need. Friendly staff, fresh and delicious food. Especially General Manager William and his team did everything to make my short trip unforgetable.

Review 64:Bar area could have been better as in the rain it was not covered and little else to do. Lack of food in the morning was given a menu and whatever I picked I was told that they did not have it

Review 65:Friendliness of the staff fantastic beach location with stunning views food was very good but some overpriced

Review 66:Despite of the nice ambiance, the manager was very strange and unreliable. He tried to charge us for extra bed and at the end he gave it us for free. He tried to sell private boat to customers instead of telling them, how to get to public one. There were no information in the room about, how everything works (what time is the breakfast , what is included from the menu, what are the prices for renting kayak or motorcycle), we had to ask for everything. Food was overpriced and no good. There were no info about what`s gonna happen in the evening (BBQ, fool moon party).

Review 67:We stayed in vila, which was very nice, spacious and overlooking tops of trees to the sea, and at the terrace we had privacy. The pool was also nice, but there was too much chlorine, so I could not have gone there, as it was itching.

Review 68:The houses were a little bit dirty, it seemed like no one was cleaning them every day. The towels were not replaced. However, what more important, the houses (and I am talking about beach villa and teakwood villas) had cockroaches and rats inside and what more, the personel did not care much about it, we had to deal with rats by ourseleves. Unfortunately, the only one person (the hotel manager) spoke merely English, the other persons working there could not understand a word, which was not the dish from the menu. Highly not recommended place.

Review 69:The location in pretty nice, beautiful views and beaches which are not crowded.

Review 70:Liked all, but the litter on the island were not a good site. But I want to give Alex and his team at koh jum resort a thumbs up for keeping their part of the beach and island clean !!

Review 71:Stunning surroundings and the peaceful atmosphere. The best location on the island, beautiful beach and we hiked the mountain , breathtakingly beautiful. The best cook , good tasty food!! And a view and sunsets that will leave you in amazement!A wonderful time indeed.

Review 72:This was the only hotel we stayed at in Thailand that did not provideany bottles of drinking water free of charge. We bought some big bottlesof water in the village, a huge tour group arrived at the hotel and wearsinging karaoke late into the night. This was a shame as we came to theisland to relax and get peace and quiet. The monkey tied up by receptiontried to jump on me every time I walked past! I appreciate it is adomestic pet monkey, however I would rather not have seen it on displayat reception,

Review 73:Our bungalow was huge and had a gorgeous bathroom with sunken bath. Theviews were amazing. The windows did not all lock, however there was asafe in the room. The staff were very friendly, and even helped me getto a pharmacy on one occasion, The beach is rocky, but this is thenature of beaches on Ko Jum. Along the road out of the hotel we found alovely beach that we had all to ourselves. A highlight for us wasvisiting the villages on the island. The people were really friendly. The hotel is located on a lovely spot on the Western side of the islandwith one other hotel next to it. There is hammocks and beach chairs torelax on. The south of the island has more resorts and hotels, and thebeach is a bit sandier. We walked from our hotel to the South side ofthe island (about 4km each way) hiring a moto is widely available too.The roads are very rough in parts though. We felt our tourism wasappreciated here more than pricey Ko Lanta. It is a muslim island, andwe were unable to by alcohol in local shops. Ko Jum is fine to stay atif you want to relax in the resort, however exploring the rest of theisland can be difficult.

Review 74:the pool is lovely and clean, the bungalow was amazing with fantastic views of the sea and beach. A very remote island though so not much to do or see there other than being at your resort, in the pool and on the beach, so a couple of days stay here is long enough but worth a visit for ultimate relaxation.

Review 75:* Restaurant food is not good and it´s too expensive. Breakfast is very good. They really need to do something for the food if the food would be excellent resort would be near to perfect.

Review 76:* Beautiful place in tropic* Thai Villa is very beautiful * Staff is very friendly * Beach is beautiful and peaceful, it´s better swim before low time because beach is very rocky then.

Review 77:Rooms where dirty, dusty and not well maintained...no airco land a start seemed to be annoyed when asked for any service

Review 78:location, the view land the size of the villa

Review 79:No swimming at low tide but a Nice but not big pool

Review 80:Excellent service, friendly staff, good accomodation, ocean view, breakfast buffet included and good. Best value for money Wifi in room. Bungalow No 601 Fantastic for family w 2-3 children. I liked everything

Review 81:The resort is in the north part of the island, so it's a bitdifficult to reach the other areas: the road is pretty bad

Review 82:Staff very friendly, great rooms

Review 83:poor water sports equipment.

Review 84:Very quite good place to wind down before heading home.

Review 85:internet is very slow

Review 86:One of the most quiet places I've ever been. Feels like paradise if you can just hear the ocean. Friendly, helpful people

Review 87:Nice quiet and peaceful place.

Review 88:too bad the staff despite being nice (except the GM) is unqualified !

Review 89:Great island ! good location ! fantastic beach, good food.....

Review 90:hotel stay at good location... nice view and villa mix good with nature...Khun Lek staff every good service mind

Review 91:a bit rocky sea

Review 92:friendly staff, great location, quiet environment, easy going atmosphere.

Review 93:great staff! beautiful location

Review 94:Insufficient cleening Expensive

Review 95:Nice location
