Reviews for Hotell Pilen
Review 1:one shower per floor (the price was too expensive for just 'shared shower-rooms' in my opinion)
Review 2:easy checkin (reception or doorcode), really safe (key an doorcodes), free tea, included breakfast, good location, nice and helpful staff.
Review 3:It was a bit hard to get inside the hotel as we arrived after 6 pm Sunday. But after a phone call it was OK.
Review 4:Food was perfect, location and the hotel was nice.
Review 5:Rooms are very basic. I didn't mind, but don't expect anything fancy. I didn't even have a proper cupboard to store things.
Review 6:The hotel is set in a quiet neighborhood about a 15 minutes walk from downtown Umea. You can also reach the university / hospital in 15 minutes walking. The hotel consists of three buildings that look very authentically Swedish. The breakfast is good; there is very well-working free Wifi available.
Review 7:WiFi not properly fast. Sometimes down.
Review 8:Nice and cosy place to stay. Rooms are located in separate little buildings. Very close to the river, the University and the city centre
Review 9:bathroom due to smell from toilet not usable; you can hear everything that happens on the floor; no heating available in late summer although already cold during the night; nobody available after 6 p.m.; narrow steep stair case; breakfast in dark cellar; very expensive
Review 10:looks nice from the outside
Review 11:Super nice hotel, simple but effective with all comforts, very tasty Scandinavian breakfast and 5-10min walking far from the center. Extremely helpful personnel.
Review 12:Staff were incredibly helpful. i arrived a few days early, they let me store luggage whilst i went hiking, gave me great local advice. Brilliant location
Review 13:-Hotel parking was on a street -Pillows were very lumpy, desperately need replacing -Bathroom needs renovating to bring it in line with the bedroom decoration.
Review 14:-Good breakfast -Nicely decorated room
Review 15:- It was really noisy because you could hear everything of upstairs and beside - it wasn't possible to keep the window open - a very easy breakfast
Review 16:- The red houses were really very nice and cute - the staff was really super nice and kind
Review 17:i didn't get any code of anykind to get inside....had to ask help from other customers?! The shower cabinet was so small that there was quite lot of noise when having a shower....but I'm a quite big guy anyway
Review 18:this hotel doesn't feel like a normal hotel...it feels like a your coming home....truely nice and comfortable place.
Review 19:They changed the code to the front door twice without telling me or any of the other guests I spoke to. The girl in the reception was rude and did not seem to enjoy working there. The breakfast was so bad I only ate it the first morning, after that I went to a nearby café. I will never stay there again.
Review 20:The location was good.
Review 21:Shame it rained - I couldn't make use of the small terrace
Review 22:Location was close to town but very quiet. The smell of lilac wafting in was pleasant. Great shower!
Review 23:Not having reception available when we arrived. Not used to this with a hotel. Someone staying at the hotel helped us our as I did the same the next day. Also had a guest arrive upstairs who came late and left early and clomped around and kept me awake then woke me up so the soundproofing was not good between the floors.
Review 24:The boutique like nature
Review 25:Noisiness in the house because of thin walls. Breakfastroom placed in another building.
Review 26:Spacious room with extra table and two armchairs. Fridge, tea and instant coffee at the corridor. Waterboiler at the room. Nice interior. 100m to public transport.
Review 27:I was living in a room with shared bathroom and toilet. It was difficult to fall asleep some nights because I can hear people snoring clearly next to my room.
Review 28:Nice breakfast and the staffs are very helpful
Review 29:Really poor standard of my room (not renovated since forever). Smelly bathroom, broken shower cabin, no schampoo, poor isolation between rooms. Short time for breakfast (had to finish at 8.30). I'm usually quite OK with most hotels, but this was bad for the price paid.
Review 30:The reaction to my critique was good.
Review 31:Hotel Pilen is located in three very nicely restaurated old houses. Our room was really cozy and nice. The staff is super-friendly and helpful; the breakfast is good. Everything is very clean. You can walk to the city centre from there in about 10-15 minutes.
Review 32:Noise from the room next to mine, there doesn't seem to be much sound proofing. Would benefit from varying the breakfast food selection a bit more.
Review 33:The buildings are attractively rustic and homely. The location was excellent for me, half way between the city centre and the university. The breakfast room is nicely decorated and the standard of the food is good.
Review 34:Not too good air circulation in the ground floor rooms In the bathroom the liquid soap dispenser was by some reasons placed outside of shower cabin, so to get some soap one had every time to get out, walk, and then go back... Probably this was in our sole room only :)
Review 35:Breakfast with a special gouffre-making fun for children
Review 36:We arrived late and as we made our reservation a bit late too, I hadn't received the mail about the arrangements how to get in as the reception was not open. The problem was solved very quickly though.
Review 37:The hotel is located in a nice and quiet area, not too far away from the city centre. The hotel actually consists of three (I think) buildings - as if you would visit somebody's private house. The houses were quite charming. There's free parking space.
Review 38:Worn furniture & towels.
Review 39:Superb breakfast. Perfect sleeping comfort.
Review 40:great homelyy athmosphere. Clean and quiet place with nice breakfast.
Review 41:Toilet and bathroom in hall
Review 42:Whiff of drains in bathroom
Review 43:Friendly, helpful staff. Nice, comfortable room. Good location from which to explore Umea by foot.
Review 44:Good breakfast and friendful staff
Review 45:I booked a room without window and it felt a bit too close environment.
Review 46:The breakfast was great.
Review 47:Badrummet var under all kritik.
Review 48:Awesome breakfast!
Review 49:I felt there like at home. Incredibly pleasant people allaround. I have never felt in hotel like this!
Review 50:Reception works from 8 to 16. Very inconvinient
Review 51:Room and service, very nice hotel
Review 52:Noisy room. You can hear other visitors pretty good in your own room (walking and talking)
Review 53:not having a private bathroom
Review 54:breakfast
Review 55:Would have loved a window
Review 56:Location to the UMEA Design School
Review 57:room with personality, very cozy
Review 58:The doors in the red building should be changed!
Review 59:To be cheaper!
Review 60:Need to upgrade bathrooms.
Review 61:The location is perfect for a family.
Review 62:Nice and cosy atmosphere.
Review 63:a bit dated interior
Review 64:pleasant and traditions environment, almost a living room at home
Review 65:Wooden stairs slippery under ice!
Review 66:Great location, friendly staff, and homely rooms. Also good value for money.
Review 67:The shower handler was clogged and didn't give a pleasant showering experience.
Review 68:Cosy, home-like hotell. Kind and helpful staff.
Review 69:Peeping noise of my door each time someone didnt fully close it. No 3 room might want to be checked as the door doesnt seem to shut very well.
Review 70:Very nice and pretty hotel. Clean. Beautiful interior. Good breakfast
Review 71:friendly staff and helpful waffles in the afternoon, very nice
Review 72:Beautiful, romantic room. Very nice. Very tasty fresh bread in the breakfast. Thank you.
Review 73:Large suite, quiet, staff, parking
Review 74:Fairly nondescript, bit of a walk to downtown
Review 75:Nice room, clean, good breakfast
Review 76:Så mysigt hotell! Vänlig personla och gratis parkering bredvid hotellet ett plus.
Review 77:Absence of staff at the weekend; although clear instructions on how to get in were sent to us; it felt a bit impersonal letting ourselves in.
Review 78:Lovely large ensuite room (number 15), with comfy chairs, kettle and good wi fi. The location was great - very close to the river and bildmuseum. A shared fridge was also available, and the parking was free too.
Review 79:The room was too small like a prison. There were stains on walls and floor. There was no reception after 18:30 and the whole weekend. The window's blinder didn't work and I asked them three time to fix it and they didn't, in June it was always light and it was hard to sleep.
Review 80:the location
Review 81:I and my daughter enjoyed our staying at Hotell Pilen, the room was very peaceful and tidy. And breakfast was tasty. Extra points go to friendly personnel who tolerated my extremely bad Swedish skills with smile and understanding. I certainly could visit this hotel again.
Review 82:The reception is closed at the weekend so you must pay after the breakfast.
Review 83:A lovely hotel few steps away from the downtown. Went there to watch midnight sun, spent just one night.
Review 84:nothing, we knew what to expect
Review 85:Typical Swedish houses, not a standard hotel! Feels like staying with family, nice veranda's, free parking, with heaters if necessary. We liked the swedish breakfast. In the afternoon you can make wafers yourself for free. You feel very welcome. This was our second stay
Review 86:Friendly and helpful staff. The 3-bed bedroom was beautiful and had character. Breakfast was fresh and appealing. The hotel served free coffee and waffles in the evenings!
Review 87:Given the home-like atmosphere, we can accept that the furnishings were anything but modern.
Review 88:This is a homely hotel with rooms in various 'cottages'. Free afternoon tea / coffee and waffles were very welcome.
Review 89:Very bad sound insolation of the room, door clapping by other guests in the corridor in the morning, very bad breakfast coffee, window curtains in a very bad shape (some of them were basically broken), furniture was rather old, no possibility to plug in an electronic device in the bathroom, inconvenient position of the shampoo spender (outside the shower box), the only non-finnish TV channel (BBC World) had a serious sound problem, too expensive
Review 90:Central location (10 minutes on foot to city centre), charming building, quick internet for free, free car parking
Review 91:The staff at the breakfast room constantly walking back and forward carrying goods and boxes across the small dining room was very unpleasant and noisy...I believe this task could be done when customers are not there, outside breakfast hours! The wifi was not available, only cable internet, and that information was not available beforehand.
Review 92:Perfect location!Typical swedish house, very nice and cosy room with everything needed!Coffee and tea, towels, etc..Afternoon waffles and coffee for free!Very clean!Great breakfast!
Review 93:Bathroom tiny could use some refurbishment. Receptionist close at night and weekends but owners can be reached by phone. Was not a real problem for us.
Review 94:Typical swedish house. We had a large room good (double) bed. Large refrigerator on the hallway. Quiet surroundings. 10 minute walk to the city center. Friendly staff. Breakfast not very copious but more than enough choice. In the afternoon free coffee/tea with waffels. Felt like staying at home with someone.
Review 95:The room was not cleaned properly, the furniture and rug was full of stains, the bed linen was full of holes.
Review 96:The hotel itself is cute and quite charming in a quiet part of town
Review 97:Not at all as expected, nothing like the photo's. Maybe it was just my room, but everything felt and looked really old-fashioned. Not very clean bathroom. Hotel isn't necessarily bad, but really not worth the price.
Review 98:Great looking hotel from the outside. Friendly staff, even housekeeping. Okay breakfast. Clean bed.
Review 99:Not good value for money.no lifts for carrying heavy suitcases. The breakfast was not good and the room was very small for the price
Review 100:Prebooking was good, checkin was fast and efficient and check out time of 12 was very convenient. The location was good
Review 101:Breakfast was boring - but this seems to be the norm in this part of the world
Review 102:Very comfortable room, easy check-in system, a very sensible place but with character. Will stay there again.
Review 103:If you are looking for super luxury then this is not for you, howeverit is clean and cosy. Coffee machine broke down at breakfast so wethen were offered instant cofee sachets and hot water. Quiet place atnight but in the morning you notice that the sound carried from thecorridor so it was less quiet when people started to check out andleave for the day.
Review 104:Great cosy feeling. We had a double room with own bathroom. The hotel issplit over different buildings and once you have checked in at the mainbuilding you then get a code to enter the other building where you haveyour room and your own room key too. It felt like having your ownappartment. Outside the buildings is a courtyard with garden furniturewhere you can sit and drink your morning coffee outside your appartment.Old style wooden houses with cosy old style furnishings. Felt at home.Would definitely book there again.
Review 105:The room got a bit stuffy during the night. Fortunately we were able to keep the window open.
Review 106:Location was good and staff friendly. Very good place to stay with the dogs as the riverside park was near.
Review 107:Very nice breakfast although the breakfast room is in the basement without daylight.
Review 108:Excellent, helpful staff.
Review 109:I suggest to stay there.Reasonable price, quiet place, clean, close to the airport bus stop.
Review 110:It's İn middle of the between city Centre and University. It has got small but enough facility. And the Turkish towels.
Review 111:Nothing. I found it perfect
Review 112:Welcoming place, totally warm even in -15! Lovely breakfast, would highly recommend to anyone
Review 113:Thin walls between rooms
Review 114:Very welcoming staff Good furnitures and accomodations
Review 115:The beds were a little bit hard.
Review 116:Clean, spacious rooms. Very silent. Nice furniture.
