Reviews for Purple Island Hostel

Review 1:There was no hot water when I wanted to take a shower. (but it could have also been due to power cuts throughout the city)

Review 2:It is a standard nice hostel, the only one in town actually. Breakfast was good, and free coffee. Nice common place too.

Review 3:1) My room was too small, no space to even turn around and let alone walk or stand up straight (the ceiling is low). But I had it to myself, so I did not complain, I enjoyed the privacy. 2) The staff was often not in the hostel and it happened that I needed help or info, and I waited for a long time for them to come back from where they went (there was never a note for guests). 3) Hot water in the shower took forever to start and once it did - it went cold many times without me doing anything. It was very difficult to shower.

Review 4:Amazing staff, helpful and so nice! Good breakfast. Huge bathroom with bathtub. There is a computer in the common area for guests to use.

Review 5:Meticulously clean. I like to cook my own bacon and eggs for breakfast and there was a nice grocery store 50m up the street. Convenient parking at the end of the block.

Review 6:Nothing

Review 7:This is the only one hostel in town. They have only dormitories, but the owner is so nice, that she tried to locate me in a room alone (if it is possible). Very helpful staff, great location in the centre. I can really recommend this place to anyone.

Review 8:Got super noisy because the hostel was hosting an entire sports team at the same time... but nothing to do with the hostel, rather with the lack of consideration these boys displayed when coming back home at 1:00 and shouting at each other! (Maybe I'm getting too old for this ;) )

Review 9:Easy parking on the streets Very friendly and responsive staff Great bread at breakfast (!) Great wi-fi connection Cosy living room Proximity to downtown Very close to a supermarket

Review 10:The staff, the cleanliness, the desktop with internet free of charge, Marilia's effort to get that desktop pc working for me, the location... If you're a solo traveller this is the place to stay.

Review 11:Staff is super friendly and helpful and the hostel has a feel good atmosphere that I didn't find in other hotels/guest houses in Angra do Heroismo. Besides having wifi they also have a desktop available for use free of charge, which was great for me.

Review 12:The couple of the hostal are super sweet, very nice and welcoming. I love the hostal, new, quiet, clean, lovely breakfast, close to everything, nice tourits and more important lovely experience when I was there. I trully recommend this hostal.

Review 13:Sometimes Azores whether !!

Review 14:Qua é tutto nuovo e perfetto!! Posizione ottima, con migliore supermarket davanti. Usa la cucina é sempre pulita come il resto. Reception utilissima e simpatica. Everything new and perfect!! Good location, front of best market. Good kitchen cleand as the rest of the hostel. Friendly and usefull stuff. C'mon that's the place to stay for the moment

Review 15:If there is any complain, it results from this experimental phase, from irrelevant details, equipment related with bathrooms and lockers (inside).

Review 16:Location... is certainly decisive for someone who likes to walk, or doesn't want to spend too much in transports (there is a bus top just few meters from the door, a line connecting to Praia da Vitória, as well to Porto Judeu). And, of course, the hostel concept, the friendly and informal environment, with the free access to wifi, kitchen... breakfast, or the familiar and unexpected library, or the TV room, also purple and black, to make the difference, if the style is to be modern, to recover from a long day journey.

Review 17:The staff are very friendly and helpful.

Review 18:cozy and very very clean place, in front of good supermarket, good price

Review 19:Very friendly and helpful staff. There was a festival in the street outside the hostel and I got to do some Azorean dancing!

Review 20:No elevator

Review 21:The staff

Review 22:Super-nice staff, clean and comfortable.

Review 23:friendly and helpful staff, free parking, nice design of the living room

Review 24:Location, just a few minutes walk into town. Supermarket just across the street. Staff very friendly and helpful.

Review 25:The room upstairs was a bit humid and needed better ventilation.

Review 26:Clean, safe, location, friendly. Helpful, and comfortable

Review 27:Bruno and his wife are so nice and welcoming. And they even offered to take and join me for some hiking and sightseeing up in the mountains. They were more than willing to provide all sort of information and maps. They were very, very heplful. The hostel is brand-new, great dorm and bunk beds, ensuite bathroom, great kitchen and fulfilling breakfast. Perfect hostel in beautiful Angra, close to everything in town. A supermarket and bus stop are close by.
