Reviews for Double Eagle Resort and Spa
Review 1:Very relaxing. The resort was fully booked but we never felt crowded or heard a peep from our neighbors . Great facilities, bar , staff andthe room is an 11.
Review 2:It was our second visit. The first one was very good so we expected the nice Thanksgiving holidays. Unfortunately the room looks not clean, clogged sink, and the worst thing - we were bitten by something, looks like bedbugs.
Review 3:Massage in spa was wonderful
Review 4:Can't really think of anything bad to say. My wife introduced me to you guys so I'm glad. I'll be back sometime I'm sure.
Review 5:Location for everything. Skiing was great, your staff in the Spa is very professional and Chris is an outstanding human being with a big heart. The restaurant was really good every morning I had something different for breakfast so whoever's cooking' is doing fine. Also the manager of the restaurant was very attentive and sincere. You can tell he takes his job very seriously and is a true pro at whatever he does. Forgot his name starts with a "J" Give that guy a raise though. He's good for your business, Chris in the Spa too. Thank You
Review 6:Restaurant expensive for not very inspired food. Acceptable. Breakfast very expensive, but we found a nice place in the village itself.
Review 7:Very pleasant cabins in the forest, excellent room, large and comfortable.
Review 8:Several things in the room were broken, the blind over the slider, the fireplace (but they fixed that), a sluggish sink, etc. We stayed two nights, and after being out all day, we came back to a room that was not cleaned at all. The front desk said two housekeepers had to leave, but still, some attempt to help would have been nice. It seems they were very understaffed. We had to walk up to the front desk to get clean towels. Coffee cups were not replaced, the bed was not made. It was very overpriced for how it was advertised. There was no offer to adjust the room rate or apologize.
Review 9:The location and large room.
Review 10:The wi-fi did not work! If a top-rated resort advertises that they have wi-fi for their guests, they need to honor that commitment. To pay $189 a night and not have wi-fi in this day and age is not right. I would like a $40 refund.
Review 11:Spacious, clean room in a great location surrounded by mountains
Review 12:The only negatives for us were 1,, that the restaurant and bar both close at 21:00. 2,, only two staff at breakfast. They worked really hard but we had a bit of a wait because they were a bit stretched.
Review 13:Absolutely stunning location and accommodation. June Lake is a beautiful place. The wooden cabins were excellent. Very comfortable. Great views. We can't wait to return.
Review 14:restaurant was poor, and there are few places nearby to get decent alternative food. waitress in the bar was not at all cheerful; it was an effort for her to serve us. We were told we did not need to reserve a table for dinner, but when we turned up we had to wait for a table in the bar, even though there were lots of empty tables in the restaurant.
Review 15:good location for visiting the east side of yosemite - not far to the entrance to the park. close by to mono lake.
Review 16:Housekeeping did not come to do our room until five p.m.. It was a Labor Day weekend. Nevertheless, that was a disappointment.
Review 17:The Eagle's Landing Restaurant is very convenient. We had four meals there during our three day stay.
Review 18:Breakfast was disappointing due to the fact that part of the meal was cold. Server was very nice, but didn't have enough help.
Review 19:Very nice and clean room. Only problem was the noise of the people walking across the floor upstairs.
Review 20:I reserved and confirmed room with two queen beds, I was given a king, the manager changed my reservation to accommodate a larger party without notifying me.
Review 21:Restaurant waiter could have been nicer surprisingly disinterested and slow for the USA
Review 22:Fabulous place in beautiful setting. If in this area you must choose this hotel. We booked from across the world in NZ and you never know what you will get but this one exceeded our expectation.
Review 23:Wifi was poor
Review 24:This is a lovely resort with great lodges that have their own fireplaces. It was a great room but the wifi was not great. We didn't use the bar or restaurant but drove to the local village for food. We stayed over looking a little duck pond, which was relaxing and scenic.
Review 25:Room was not ready at 3:00 pm as promised.....had to wait thirty more minutes before check-in. House keeping was not provided until after 4:00pm on days we remained in the room. For these room rates one would expect a lot more prompt service than what was provided
Review 26:Wifi was weak and they had a strange accordion door to the bathroom. Minor detail in a wonderful location!
Review 27:Beautiful June lake! What a little treasure! Our room was spacious and comfortable. I loved taking a whirlpool tub! Calming views over the pond with the mountains behind.
Review 28:There seemed a little lack of attention to detail for what purports to be a luxury hotel. Little things, but noticeable. Limited toiletries, no guest info in the room, bed not made up during the day, etc.
Review 29:The pool was excellent - larger than one usually finds. Scenery around was lovely and the huge bedroom overlooked a pond. Happy hour in the bar was excellent.
Review 30:Swimming pool was only open to children for a few hours a day, around midday, so not convenient for people who travel to Yosemite.
Review 31:Location, views, leisurely feel of the place, helpful staff, views when driving east from Yosemite at sunset.
Review 32:The fact that no kids are allowed in the pool after 6.30pm is a pain, especially when they have to leave and there are no adults at all in the pool! The restaurant reception staff were not very friendly and showed little interest when I inquired about a special diet and possible meals for my coeliac son
Review 33:Superb location Superb views Great room Excellent pool and facilities Excellent food in restaurant
Review 34:Eating in the restaurant---although the food was good, they were understaffed....wait was long, too much confusion!
Review 35:General ambiance and location of facility.
Review 36:The creaking floor above us. The room to restaurant access. Resticted pool hours for children.
Review 37:The location was great. The staff was very friendly. The spa located at the resort.
Review 38:The restaurant on site serves poorly prepared food at high cost. Staff was responsive to our needs but the kitchen needs a new chef. The indoor pool is highly clorinated and it was difficult to breath in the pool room even with the windows open.
Review 39:The cabins are private, comfortable, and clean. Beautiful property and surrounding scenery.
Review 40:The restaurant food was only average and the wait for the food from the kitchen was long. The property area is very small.
Review 41:Nice, spacious room. Beautiful spa and workout facility which we did not get a chance to use.
Review 42:Double Eagle was a very pleasant surprise - really a small resort. Our room was unusually spacious and faced right onto a small trout pond - beautiful spot. The restaurant was quite good, to the point of having gourmet aspirations.
Review 43:Absence of air conditioning but did not feel we needed it. The spicey chicken pasta dish had a conflict of flavours; although I enjoyed it, the chicken appeared to have been given a barbecue flavour and would have enjoyed it more just cooked in the spicey pasta sauce.
Review 44:Quiet, excellent location. Would happily return with family. Bar staff very good and enjoyed the company of local customers. the central fishing pond adds character.
Review 45:Having two rooms in five people. We can be all in a cabin. I finally pay a room and a cabin. The web site booking is incorrect! In that case! A breakfast could be included.
Review 46:The restaurant is good and the service too.
Review 47:My only complaint is that if you don't have your own cabin, you can hear every footstep of your neighbor in the next room.
Review 48:Beautiful location with trout pound for barlbess fly fishing.Excellent restuarant/bar on premises. The staff and people are extremely friendly. You get sone delicious free cookies when you check in.
Review 49:We loved our stay. We enjoyed walking around the fishing pond, getting spa treatments and enjoyed a nice dinner. It was a relaxing place in a beautiful setting surrounded by majestic mountains.
Review 50:we were at the lower level and can hear every sound from the above floor so did not sleep well. front desk staff normally gives the first impression and we were not greated kindly . was very short on us . so did not start our stay with smile. the massage was not worth the price
Review 51:nice food and great restaurant staff
Review 52:Those damn fish wouldn't bite.lol
Review 53:So beautiful. Very home like feel. Amazing food. Don't even eat in town. You think it will be cheaper but it's not. It's about the same but the restaurant at the resort is great
Review 54:No directory in room to call restaurant. Tried calling office and received dreaded voice message even though during business hours.
Review 55:Beautiful location, comfortable rooms, great massage
Review 56:Nothing to dislike about this hotel
Review 57:Loved the room which was perfect, topped off by a lush spa bath. Thoroughly enjoyed the walks around the area and being up close to the wild deer.
Review 58:Nice location, very peaceful, loved the fireplace! The staff was the best! We didn't have time to use the spa but it looked great....maybe next time.
Review 59:If I'm being very critical the wi-if was poor with struggles to connect anywhere but apart from that was fantastic.
Review 60:The cabin was excellent with many facilities at your disposal to use, set in a stunning location with the lake and mountains surrounding you, very peaceful with amazing views. Really friendly staff also.
Review 61:The fact that booking.com hadn't sent our reservation to the hotel . The rooms I had booked were not available but the staff were charming and found us an alternative.
Review 62:The Spa. Great massage, good swim. Only stayed one night and would like to have stayed longer.
Review 63:Prices are pretty steep. Wifi wasn't really reliable.
Review 64:Nice spa, great swimming pool. Location is very nice as well. Location is very nice, great view of the mountain. Staff lent us some good DVD's for the evening.
Review 65:The room overlooked the pond, it was spotless, very welcoming staff and the spa was incredible. Free entry for guest of the resort with a heated pool and Jacuzzi as well as a good fitness centre. Room is very reasonably priced and very large, includes free wifi, a fridge, very nice bathroom, and the restaurant served very nice food for a decent cost. There is quite a lot to do in the vicinity (Devil's Postpile, Bodie, Lakes where you can fish / hire boats) so was extremely happy with this resort. Would definitely recommend to all to spend a couple of nights here.
Review 66:No bad experiences at all. We stayed in Las Vegas for 5 days and here for 2. Wish we had spent 5 days here and 2 in Las Vegas.
Review 67:Peaceful surroundings, very friendly employees, loved the ducks in the pond in front of the cabin. Spa treatment was so relaxing. Restaurant food was delicious ... staff was friendly. Other visitors were friendly and also said they loved the place. Some people come back every year.
Review 68:small fireplace didnt work room A115 called front desk spoke with a male said he would send maintenance they never showed up good thing they have central heat for the price they charge for a basic room they should have everything top notch..
Review 69:location was ok we were still 2hrs from Yosemite valley the room was ok needed a microwave.
Review 70:The Wi-Fi was sketchy.
Review 71:This place was amazing for value for money and top everything. But Special mention to the staff who were friendly and helpful. Please stay there!
Review 72:The bunk beds were in bad shape. The kitchen and bathroom floors were absolutely filthy. The WiFi rarely was working and we had to call three times for maid service, which didn't come until after 5:00 PM.
Review 73:We enjoyed having a real fireplace and the kitchen was well stocked.
Review 74:1. The shower head was a rain style and just dripped, difficult to shower without getting hair wet. 2. No comfortable chairs other than on the deck. No microwave (to heat water for tea) and warm coffee and office doesn't open until 8 am that has the hot water. 3. A family with a small child was put in the unit above us. The child constantly ran around the room which sounded like stomping on our ceiling. They should have put them in a ground floor unit.
Review 75:The location and views.
Review 76:The only con to the resort room is the lack of a kitchenette (no microwave, stovetop, or oven). So be prepared when coming to either bring a large ice chest with cold foods or to spend quite a bit of $$ eating out. The restaurant at the resort is amazing, thought. And they do have actual 2-3 bedroom cabins w/ kitchenettes but for us newlyweds, the resort rooms were great!
Review 77:My husband and I were blown away by the resort! The staff was extremely helpful when there was a mixup with our booking, and even were able to give us an additional discount for the same number of nights. The bed in our resort room was extremely comfortable, the large spa tub in our room was amazing, the pond was beautiful and full of huge trout, the spa was amazing (we definitely recommend the couples massage) and the restaurant was by far one of the best in the area. We're planning on coming back and "honeymooning" again each year on our anniversary!
Review 78:Everything was perfect for our first visit to Yosemite, staff very friendly and helpful from CheckIn, to sightseeing tips from our morning waiter, to the spa staff that were excellent and attentive to our needs!!! What a fantastic and relaxing place to stay, will definitely recommend and will stay again. Thanks for a memorable stay.
Review 79:We loved the facilities and dinning. Also the spa and fishing in the lake! Absolutely fabulous place to stay. The food was exceptional, staff very friendly and knowledgeable. Our room had a balcony and a Jacuzzi bath. The whole stay was highly enjoyable and we'd love to return soon.
Review 80:The cabin we had was nice but for the price we paid I expected a little more. The shower needed some upkeep, a chair in the living room was broken, etc. We tried to light a fire but the lighter was empty so we called the front desk and had to leave a message that was never answered. The cabin is very roomy and the beds ver comfortable in a beautiful location.
Review 81:There lovely indoor pool, was not really warm enough to enjoy- but could have been due to the sudden drop in climate. Still sitting in the tepid jaxcuzzi looking at fresh snowfall on the surrounding mountains, is pretty lush. The restaurant selection was diverse, but a bit pricey.
Review 82:The Double Eagle is rustic, but not in a rough way. Beautiful setting, and has amenities not generally found in this Eastern Sierra Nook of beauty. the double queen room, was not cramped for a family of four. the gas wood stove, was welcome after walks in the snow.
Review 83:unfortunately the heating system broke down in both our rooms and the telephone in one of the rooms was not working.
Review 84:We received helpful advice on the local area from the reception. Shanie was particularly helpful and kind in trying to resolve the issues that we experienced. Also the maintenance chap who came to assist with the issues in the room and for the clearing of the snow on the paths.
Review 85:I didn't like the artificial smell of the restaurant lobby. The first time we went there I thought it was another patrons cheap cologne but it smelled the same when we went back the next morning so I think it was some sort of air freshener or something.
Review 86:The whirlpool tub was awesome. The views were spectacular. The decor was appropriate updated and nice. The staff were friendly and helpful.
Review 87:Nothing at all!
Review 88:Clean, beautiful, serene. Big room with huge bathroom. Large jacuzzi tub. Private trout pond. Nice pool and huge jacuzzi. Friendly staff. Good restaurant. Close to June Mountain Ski Resort. Close to June Lake Village and the lakes. Awesome!!!
Review 89:The restaurant was slightly overpriced.
Review 90:The room was wonderful; comfy, spacious and warm. Everything was clean and worked. The staff was friendly and efficient. The little things were great like that the room was heated when we arrived and there was ice in the trays. Worth every penny.
Review 91:Food was bad. French onion soup came out Luke worm. Steak was over cooked when we requested medium rare. Fettuccini was stuck together as a one large lump.
Review 92:Beautiful setting, Good architectural design, Cleanliness, spaciousness, Convenient parking, Fantastic sauna and swimming pool.
Review 93:The walls were a little thin but that's to be expected. The black "fire place" foe word burning stove didn't work
Review 94:Loved the location, loved the feel of the place. My family truly enjoyed our time here and will absolutely be back!
Review 95:-internet issues -front desk young male attendant VERY VERY rude -wish they had option of full housekeeping -toilet kept breaking..annoyance
Review 96:-most staff very nice -food is good, nice portions -love the firewood supply -great for family -super private and mellow, but not uptight -so close to June, not far from mammoth
Review 97:Over an hour drive to Yosemite Valley from the resort.
Review 98:Beautiful property. Room spacious and clean.Food very good. Would stay here again without hesitation.
Review 99:The heater roared on the off all night. The bedroom doors (two-bedroom cabin) were closed and then the rooms got so hot that the smoke alarm (placed near the furnace) went off! We turned down the heat but it appeared to be set independently (i.e., it wouldn't change).
Review 100:Great location, friendly staff, spacious cabin with working fireplace, well-stocked kitchen, nice front porch with chairs! GORGEOUS location, with granite peaks visible!
Review 101:WiFi was slow in the room, but worked fine in the lobby. The only thing we didn't like was having to leave...
Review 102:They were fully booked, but we felt as though we had the place to ourselves! The spa was a wonderful place to start the day; the aspen were turning and the entire area was stunning. Restaurant was delicious (rotisserie chicken!) and affordable with nice ambience. I was traveling with old friends (a couple) and the room we shared was spacious. We all wish that we had allotted more time at Double Eagle and less in Yosemite.
Review 103:Nothing.
Review 104:Stayed here whilst travelling California earlier this month. On arrival, we received a friendly and informative greeting, the room we were allocated was spotless, very cosy and comfortable. The food in the restaurant was very good, really wished we could have stayed longer than one night.
Review 105:Our TV needed a cable cord and the sliding glass door wouldn't lock. We reported the above to the front desk three times, but it was never fixed.
Review 106:Location, spa personnel and grounds were amazing!
Review 107:Pricing is fair, but still expensive - our next visit to the area may be at a more affordable motel.
Review 108:The location and setting are absolutely first-rate. Such a beautiful and relaxing place to spend some time.
Review 109:I have pace reservation for two by dealing 700. No one took it as they were surprise to see us at 20:00. Not much let to choose on the menu. We both went for the salmon and we must say it is the worst one we ever eat. Too cooked and so dry. How can that be when coking salmon is so easy. Service at the table of this resto was just as bad as they were closing atnine. Mopping the floor while clients are having diner. Guess what, i will never recommend this resto to no one. So for the price we paid for our stay, we are finaly kind of desapointed
Review 110:yoga, spa, the whole omplex except the resto.
Review 111:We loved the setting, the scenery around the lodges, and the lodge itself. It was spacious and very clean, the bathroom was huge and I loved that you had a jacuzzi bath as well as a shower. We stayed in the upstairs section of the lodge and had a balcony that overlooked the lovely water out front. The food in the restaurant was really good and reasonably priced (we stayed for dinner). The whole place was wonderful, it was quiet and very picturesque. We would love to go back and stay for several nights on our next trip.
Review 112:A little scary looking for mountain lions and bears when walking in the mountains. Didnt see any, though. Restaurant a little expensive, but food was great. A little far away from Yosemite. Very small groceryshops nearby. Difficult to make your own dinner, even though there was a fullt equipped kitchen in the cabins.
Review 113:Location, hotel surrounded with tall, beautiful mountains. June Lake, fantastic beach in high altitude. Great dinner at the restaurant.
Review 114:Unfortunaely the staff of the resraurant was very slow and in comparison with other much busier places not really paying much attention. Unfortunately the wlan was not working at the time we stayed there
Review 115:The location is wonderfull. Beautiful view into the mountains and a little lake in the midle of the resort. The spa and the hotel are very nice. Great place to relax and calm down
Review 116:Only one side of the bed had a night stand and lamp, also there was only one armchair in the room so second person had to sit on desk chair. Restaurant wasn't busy but service was slow and not especially friendly.
Review 117:Great bathroom and good quality toiletries. Enjoyed balcony overlooking little fishing lake.
Review 118:Having to leave.
Review 119:Friendly and very helpful staff in a nicely presented and well run Resort surrounded by spectacular scenery. Watching trout swim in the crystal clear water of the central pond on a sunny afternoon is almost mesmeric. Enjoyed sitting in the hot tub in the Spa admiring the dramatic mountain scenery. Comfortable cabin with delightful balcony and BBQ.
Review 120:The pool was not kid friendlly since they have restrictions on the time kids can swim.
Review 121:We loved visiting June Lake and the hotel was very comfortable. We also enjoyed the food the restaurant.
Review 122:-We stayed in lower level- very hard to rest well when you can hear every step and move from upstairs; was very noisy :( - Resto (we had breakfast) was a bit pricey for quality
Review 123:Lovely facility
Review 124:Not enough time for us to enjoy.
Review 125:Great location under the cliffs near lake but with its own trout pond. Nice spa though we didnt get to use. On site restaurant very nice. Large studio rooms with decks.
Review 126:Wi-fi was not available in the room, just at the reception and the spa.
Review 127:Charming and comfortable cabins in a wonderful setting. Spa and restaurant were also great. Staff was really helpful.
Review 128:when we left the restaurant after dinner, found it hard to find our cabin, without the benefit of lighting and we accidentally tried to get into someone else place! Must have terrified them when we tried our key in their lock - maybe thought it was a bear!!
Review 129:location was amazing. Food in restaurant was great with fantastic service Facilities were second to none - loved the lap pool, the gym and the yoga (all included) So much to say, but were there only for a short time - would love to return and enjoy more
Review 130:Beds were old and soft The Lodge was a little tired and need refurbishment More eating facilities on site
Review 131:The Spa and Pool The Location The peace & quiet!
Review 132:Restaurant had poor choice of food and pretensions to be more than it was. Far too expensive for quality offered. Service on second night was dreadful and waitress rude. They ran out of soup, brought mash when my wife ordered fries, forgot hot water, ketchup and my starter. When we finally complained waitress said she would give 15% off and slammed down bill. We didn't see her again until we left the restaurant and spotted her smoking with friends.
Review 133:Loved the accommodation in log cabins with large beds and bathroom. Really relaxing location.
Review 134:Bathrooms are dated Wifi was spotty
Review 135:Nice cabins. Well furnished. Spa facilities were great! Restaurant was really good. Grounds were very nice and peaceful.
Review 136:The first time driving to the resort it seemed far away from the actual town center. However, when making the drive during daylight hours the location of the resort really is worth the little bit of extra time it takes to get there. And, staying at the resort is wayyyyy better than anything in town anyway.
Review 137:We were completely stunned by the beauty, seclusion, and comfort of our cabin. So much so that we truly didn't want to leave to even do sightseeing. We couldn't believe the spaciousness, cleanliness, and creature comforts provided. We kept thinking we must have figured the rate incorrectly as it was such a bargain!! We were delighted with the working fireplace and amazed that there was no extra charge for building a fire and that the firewood including kindling was provided again at no extra charge. The breakfast in the restaurant was plentiful and delicious. We didn't avail ourselves of any of the spa offerings although we did walk through the facility just to get an idea of it. Again, we were amazed at the cleanliness, variety of services, and products offered. We feel that we completely lucked out in discovering this gem of a resort and only hope to be able to visit again in the years to come.
Review 138:We had an amazing time here during our stay. We only booked for one night but wished we had stayed for longer. Our room was beautiful and smelled of the redwood trees used to build it! Everything was very clean and we overlooked the crystal clear trout pond. Staff were friendly and location was fab. Amazing :)
