Reviews for At Chiang Mai
Review 1:Breakfast could be improved (e.g. some dishes which were supposed to be warm were cold)
Review 2:Very good location in the center of old town, nicely decorated rooms in traditional local Thai style.
Review 3:bed a little hard, lots of mozzies but some citronella did the trick, wifi inexistent in the room available downstairs at the expense of bites, breakfast dull
Review 4:location, access by foot to the old city, staff helpfull
Review 5:Hotel Lobby is abit far from main road (20m 2-3 mins stroll) but everything else is alright. The Street outside this hotel will be little quiet after 8pm or 9pm local time. As most local shops will be closed. Need to walk about 5 to 10 mins to nearest 7-Eleven, Thai massage, or pubs
Review 6:Location is excellent right in the heart of Chiang Mai Old city Walking distance to Wat Chedi Luang , Sunday Night Market, local food (10 to 15mins walk) Very tranquil and nice boutique hotel with a bit of homely touch. Nice swimming pool. Breakfast is decent spread. Easy to stop and hop onto a “Red coloured Taxi” 20-30Baht to anywhere else in Chiang Mai city.
Review 7:The city centre is a bit noisy. A music bar close to the hotel plays music until midnight. During the day you'll have noise from a construction site behind the hotel. The room safe is too small to hold a laptop computer.
Review 8:Location in the historic city has all the temples, restaurants and travel agents in walking distance. The hotel is very nicely decorated with wood furniture, carvings and a lot of little details. The breakfast area is open on 2 sides, giving view to plants and flowers, enabling a chilling and relaxed atmosphere. Rooms with balcony, efficient and quiet aircon and a desk. Friendly and helpful staff, available 24 hours.
Review 9:Even if the staff was very friendly they lack of training, I wanted to get a cab and they didn't have a phone number service. There were some ants on my breakfast table.
Review 10:The location is perfect, you are very close the principal temples and markets. Staff is very nice. The breakfast was a mixed between oriental and western food to please every taste.
Review 11:Nothing
Review 12:Amazing .... definitely recommended . I have stayed there with my family. ıts close to everywhere ... good breakfast ... I'm a flight crewand I travel around the world often .. one of the most helpful andamazing staff... We had an earlier flight to phuket .. left around 4 30in the morning. . at check out we were given packed breakfast. . such athoughtful gesture.. Well done ..definitely stay there
Review 13:Loved the location & it was exactly what we needed. Value for money. Family room was big enough & little balcony outside perfect to read a book when kids were in bed. Swimming pool was lovely. Food was great too. Had everything we needed. Also perfect for my parents who were travelling with us. Definitely value for money.
Review 14:Quiet room with balcony, helpful staff especially girl with glasses at reception. Also very kind waiter went out and bought me green tea as they did not have any at breakfast.
Review 15:So the shower needed a good grouting & the shower door needed to be fixed! The door didnt open too easily, took a couple of gos to get it open. Also the safe needed the key as the security code did not work. Overall i would recommend & would stay here again.
Review 16:Pool area is beautiful, staff were helpful (mostly), brilliant location! Breakfast was good. Room was really nice but did miss the natural light when the door was closed!
Review 17:Noisy bar music played at night - need double pane windows. Also bathroom sink partially plugged, but asking for repair didn't get anyone to repair/clean.
Review 18:Great location
Review 19:Noisy fridge, had to unplug it to be able to sleep. More choises on the incontinental breakfast would be good.
Review 20:Good location to attraktions and restaurants in old town, friendly and helpful staff. Cosy Thai inspired interior and relaxing Thai music in pool area.
Review 21:Great location,.2 minutes walk from hotel room to nightlife, bars and restaurants but far enough away from the noise of the nightlife to get a good nights rest.
Review 22:quite disappointed for gym room & swimming pool breakfast is acceptable but can improve
Review 23:location is very good. Staff are friendly and willing to help.
Review 24:The room had no window in the pool side of room. Only negative but not a big criticism as the room was very nice
Review 25:Great staff, location and pool. Good place for people to stay if first time here. Walk to temples, bars, restaurants, etc.
Review 26:The room was a bit dark and no space to dry your clothes. But the furniture was really nice everywhere.
Review 27:Breakfast was really good! The pool also is very nice. Perfect location within the walls. Staff was helpful.they gave us a fruit basket in the room.
Review 28:The safe didn't work well and we had to call reception several times to come and open it. The room was dark and didn't have any windows.
Review 29:Very close to the main attractions. Good TV.
Review 30:Very good position in old part of Chaing Mai. Easy access to various places (we went by scooter). Friendly staff. Adequate breakfast. Great value for money (went late October 15)
Review 31:Dirty hallways and filthy tablecloths in dining room. 'Hard as iron' beds; smell of drains in bedroom; very noisy from nearby bar/ nightclub. Breakfast terrible- low quality ingredients- coffee weak and nasty taste; margarine not butter; orange squash not juice. There isn't any reason a hotel should be this bad- it's obvious from the marketing the hotel know what people want, so felt disappointed that the reality was a dusty, sticky faulty towers type affair.
Review 32:Staff were very helpful. Location good. Pool was a bonus.
Review 33:We booked it as a hotel near to the airport (according to your ad)because we had a six am flight. It is not near the airport, but rather in the old city off a little street ... hard to find . Fortunately our taxi who was a friend of a friend helped us out by coming at 4am to pick us up. If we had had to rely on a regular taxi I don't know how we would have made it.
Review 34:Lovely hotel, good food
Review 35:The bedroom itself didn't have windows, the windows were in the huge bathroom. We found that rather odd.
Review 36:Great location in the old town. Large family room. Good breakfast.
Review 37:Awful laundry service, gave 4 kg got them all with worst smell then before , its like they only put it on smelly water and that's it. Breakfast - ants in all dishes : vegetables, pancakes ,eggs... EVERYWHERE
Review 38:Clean and authentic. .. nice location Awsome and clean pool. Nice staff Very special and unique hotel
Review 39:Slighty overpriced. Breakfast is aweful and then can't even make a decent coffee. Lots of noise at night due to the proximity of bar area
Review 40:the location is great
Review 41:The room did not have windows facing out. It felt closed in. There wasn't any place to put my things down in the bathroom.
Review 42:It was a good location in that we were able to walk around or find transportation easily. They had a buffet and a restaurant for dinner. Nice pool.
Review 43:too less clothes hanger, arrangement of the bathroom facilities: small shower room and too big bath tube, toilet nerby in the center of the bathroom, not cleaning the room after 14:00
Review 44:good breakfast, provide water, coffee and 'Welcome Fruit',
Review 45:My dislikes are minor, it just seems long. The wifi has good reception only next to the window, but I think it's better to stay of the phone anyway when you travel. :) Also the breakfast is very weird for us- meaning we're not used to having rice and meat for breakfast so we have little to eat here, but there is cornflakes and fruit for us.
Review 46:The hotel is very pleasing, all at all. Big rooms, comfortable bed, great bathroom, understanding staff. We are just now back in the hotel for round two, after 3 days in Pai- which I assume says it all. The location is great, it is just a few minutes from the sunday market street and right next to us are some nice bars. Also very quite in the rooms.
Review 47:The remote control of air conditioner is not good working.
Review 48:friendly staff, the lady at the front desk is very helpful in arranging day tour, fluently chinese, very patient. The lounge outside is nice at summer night. Melodious music.
Review 49:I like the privacy and the location
Review 50:Make alchol drinks optional and to remove from the rooms.. And I hope infuture to add in tv channale english and arabic channales
Review 51:Maybe mosquito but I heard it is everything in the city.
Review 52:Staff the first place - very helpful, and patient. Never promote tours but offered a lot of help when you asked questions about anything in the city. Location is just great. Walk distance to the Sunday market. Lots of restaurant options, bars just cross the street and turn a corner, you can have fun if you want and you won't be affected with the noise at night at hotel, just great distance between the two.
Review 53:This hotel did the job for us as a family. Great location, decent bed, clean linen and fresh towels, hot water (not that you need it!!) and friendly staff! Though breakfast wasnt great still edible, WifI was a bit eratic but used internet in the lobby for free! Would recommend.
Review 54:Uncomfortable bed and just too far away from attractions. Expensive for what it was. Television had bad signal and was almost unusable and very few English channels available
Review 55:Staff attitude and service. Good food on site at a good price Nice bathroom
Review 56:No good staff. Room and forniture not commensurate. Last day we booked (and payed) the hotel shuttle to reach the airport but they just call a taxi ( the taxi did not work, every two minutes the engine turn off while it was going). So we payed much than taxi and we had bad service
Review 57:Grat position, inside the wall
Review 58:The beds were a little hard and the Internet kept on dropping out. It was convenient to have breakfast downstairs but a little average. Not worth using the gym as most of the machines needing servicing.
Review 59:Perfect location in town and out the front of the hotel is the best mango place in town. The staff were very nice and the pool was beautiful to relax in the afternoon. I would stay there again.
Review 60:Poor Wifi connection. Poor tour advice from on site tour rep therefore booked direct. Very small tea cups.
Review 61:Good location with free parking. Attractive garden, swimming pool and flowering orchids
Review 62:The breakfast could have had more choice the bed was hard and we only had one pillow each pool not very big
Review 63:we did not like very much the reception staff did not smile or even say good morning
Review 64:doesn't seem to fit the solo travellers as the price and rooms would be a better choice for families and couple of friends.
Review 65:Nice breakfast, lovely garden, very close to the Sunday night market and easy to walk around in the old city.
Review 66:Only negitive was that the 5th bed was as hard as lying on the floor!
Review 67:We loved at Chiang Mai, this hotel is really special. We received a very warm welcome, a nice cup of tea and very pleasant staff. There were 5 of us in the family room and there was plenty of room for us. The pool area is really lovely and relaxing and so quiet. At first I panicked about the choice of location thinking we were away from the buzz but it was perfect. The hotel is in walking distance of restaurants, pubs and shops. Tuk tuks and taxis are very easy to flag down, they are in expensive and fun. We went to the night market one night and it was great but I was glad I wasn't staying in that area, it was so busy with tourists.
Review 68:hard beds. Noisy and loud during nighttime from nearby party place. Wifi very bad and low connection! Staff not extremely friendly. Pool location in front of the reception, not a lot of privacy. No chairs on the big balcony.
Review 69:Location very central. Pool is very clean. Breakfast okay but not too much choices.
Review 70:The pool closes at 8.30pm too early when guests would have time to enjoy swimming after day out for touring. Lots of mosquitoes outside so one cannot enjoy a cigarette in open air. Breakfast quality was poor.
Review 71:The price was fair. Location is great!
Review 72:No chairs in our bedroom and the wifi password must be re-entered each day and night.
Review 73:You are within walking distance of the night markets, shops and bars. The hotel is very clean and the staff are friendly and helpful.
Review 74:Good sized rooms, very clean, nice pool area, and very good location. Close to lots of good restaurants and the markets. Would certainly recommend it as a place to stay.
Review 75:hard beds, no window in room, very dark, breakfast very chinesse people, not for western people, no pc available only the reception pc,
Review 76:Location, swimming pool, big bathroom, staff, beautiful, near atm, near restaurants, in city center, good air conditioning
Review 77:My room is standard level.Room is small. Bed is close to door.
Review 78:No big yard, but have a fairly good swimming pool. I swam there. Located in old town.Easy to find.
Review 79:Food was decent - not the worst but not the best.
Review 80:Staff were very kind and always willing to help us out - locating and recommending places to go, booking tuk tuks and hiring motorbikes. The lobby area was beautiful and clean, especially the pool! Highly recommended.
Review 81:First of all it took 10 minutes to get hot water. I left 4 items of clothing behind. I called the hotel 4 hours after check out and discussed the problem. They said they could not find my clothing. "Unbelievable" make sure if you stay here take all your belongings or you probably will never see t hem again.
Review 82:But the first night we didn't have hot water (just warm) and the staff didn't want to admit the problem and did nothing to solve it. The breakfast was not good with no real orange juice and cold coffee.
Review 83:We booked the most expensive room wich was pretty good. The swimming pool is very nice.
Review 84:We arrived mid to late afternoon, and our room still hadn't been made up. The bed was very firm, to the point of being too hard. The shower drain backed up and flooded the bathroom floor on two separate occasions.
Review 85:The hotel was well located within the old city. We were able to walk the complete old city and surrounding areas from there. The facilities were good, and the staff very friendly and helpful. The buffet breakfast was of a good standard, and the meals at the restaurant were very nice and well priced. The free WiFi worked well, and the staff organised an airport shuttle for us on our departure.
Review 86:Our room in the first night was close to the road and to the hotel's restaurant. We suffered from noises from the street and the music from the restaurant. The staff in reception were not showing any smile to guests, which is very untypical in Thailand. Food for breakfast was poor, not matching the price we pay.
Review 87:Nice location with walking distance to main temples and restaurants.
Review 88:breakfast is normal with a lot more flies. wifi is badly connected.
Review 89:Very good location, two minites to Karon beach and main street. Bed is comfy and nice view from the balcony. Good swimming pool.
Review 90:The shower needed attention.
Review 91:The staff are very helpful, Chiko, go to man is a great asset to the Hotel, observed him taking care of many different areas... and the food.. yummy. breakfast very nice, good variety.
Review 92:the walls are very thin, you can hear everything from the other rooms, especially when the other neighbors are not interested in others than them. Breakfast not so rich in variety
Review 93:Very comfortable accommodation, you also have a pool outside which is nice to chill inside.
Review 94:Nothing.
Review 95:Very friendly Oriental style, lots of beautiful orchids. Large room, comfortable bed. Clean Tea & coffee in the room. Fridge, kettle, fresh fruit and drinks. Pool clean and large. Quiet at night Good breakfast.
Review 96:Upon checking in the staff were not friendly. They seemed disinterested and rushed. Upon being shown our room the receptionist pointed at the minibar and tv before rushing out after spending a max of 10 seconds in the room. On checking the bathroom there were dirty towels in the shower, not a good start. I tried to use the safe following the instructions only for an alarm to start sounding, I had to call reception who told me that they forgot that it doesn't work using the code so I would have to use a key which they forgotten to give me. We paid for some clothes to be laundered but they returned dirty, some items were 'whites' so there were marks clearly showing they hadn't been cleaned properly. The hotel still wanted to charge us and we had to argue to get it removed. My advise would be to visit chiang mai but look for a different hotel.
Review 97:Chiang Mai itself is a fantastic place to visit and I would love to go again. If I do go I would not stay at this hotel. The location is very good. The hotel and it's grounds look good and the breakfast was ok.
Review 98:Had to log in for wifi every single time even though we had clicked "remember me", the wifi signal in rooms was weak. The side glass door was too clear that one of our friends bumped his head onto the door, it would be safer to put some warning signs or stickers on the side door.
Review 99:Great location in old town, had a lovely restaurant with good food (Thai and Western dishes, we went there almost everyday, it was nice to eat outside with live music in the background). The mango sticky rice was awesome. The staff were all very friendly and provided us with lots of help. The swimming pool was nice too.
Review 100:Nothing really, the decor is very Chinese which is not to everyone's taste and the room we had did not have a lot of natural light.
Review 101:The location is good and central for all places of interest, bars and restaurants in the old city. The restaurant attached to the hotel offered good Thai and Western dishes and we ate there twice and were pleased with the quality of the food.
Review 102:Great location, very tasty, varied, and fresh breakfast. The whole property is very well kept (Nov 2014) and clean. Very green and quiet surroundings, the rooms are spacious and nicely decorated. Overall, a great option to rest after a busy day sightseeing Chiang Mai.
Review 103:A friend made my booking, and when he ttied to book a second room for himself was told the hotel was full. He then made an alternative booking through booking.com and was double billed for the room At Chang Mai and the other motel reservation. Be careful when booking through Booking.com
Review 104:The Hotel
Review 105:Staff was not very helpful, especially when getting a taxi. They didn't even do that since they have a tour desk and want you to book everything through them and it felt like they just wanted to rip you off. We didn't want to join a tour group so we went around a corner to take one of the many red cars which worked just fine. Bathrooms were not up to 4 star standard and doors and windows were not properly closing so we were concerned about mosquitoes. One bed was directly located beneath the airco so we had to move it to not get a cold.
Review 106:Nice hotel, decor, pool. Breakfast was ok.
Review 107:Think the price for the room much more should be involved. The room was nice, we did get a lot of ants which my husband killed but when paying as much as we did this should not be a factor. Communication when ordering food was difficult.
Review 108:I think that for the price paid you could expect more. The staff was nice but the room was fair. We stayed in rooms in Thailand that were less with much more to offer.
Review 109:No window in bedroom, in the backside there are windows. Breakfast was hardly refilled after 9:00.
Review 110:Great location, spacy room with a bit hard but comfortable bed. Enough choice at breakfast.
Review 111:Wasn't offered room with pool view when I booked.. No bacon for breakfast..
Review 112:I liked the size of the hotel.. Not too big and not too small... Staff were really friendly.. Location was close enough to the action but still quiet when you needed it... Restaurants around hotel were also good.. I would recommend it to anyone that didn't want to just laze around the pool...
Review 113:The pool is right at the entrance which was a bit odd and there was a lot of mosquitoes there!
Review 114:The beds were really good and the WiFi was strong. Location is quite good too - quiet street but close to everything
Review 115:I had some trouble with wifi at first, but they were very helpful in resolving it. The wifi was very fast!
Review 116:A great (clean, well maintained, attractive) property, with an excellent pool, a great location, and friendly and helpful staff!
Review 117:Breakfast very poor standard. Bed linen only changed once in 6 night stay.Mould in bathroom. Hot water hit and miss. A couple of the staff quite friendly but overall it,s like you are putting them out by being there.I live and travel extensively in Asia to me this is not a 4star establishment. Not recommended.
Review 118:Quite location. Room comfortable.
Review 119:It let us to get many memories in Chiang Mai. The staffs are friendly and helpful. It was worth mentioning what helped me to prepare a birthday cake, and I didn't need to pay.Thank you so much.
Review 120:Had to ask too change rooms because wifi did not work at all. Inge this was done, which is inconvenient , everything was fine.
Review 121:The location. The pool. The breakfast. The bathroom.
Review 122:Fitness center was not well equipped, but provided a modest workout. A few more plates for the barbell and some heavier dumbells would have made it far better.
Review 123:Room was large and comfortable. Hotel was quiet. Fitness Center was available.
Review 124:Staff does not speak much English. Tour booking agent in hotel spoke noEnglish. Restaurant food so so, barely any English there either.Breakfast is odd, quality seems good but it's more like dinner.
Review 125:Hotel Decor Authentic Thai feel Clean Quality fitness room
Review 126:Breakfast just ok, often dishes cold but did have signs to tell them if it should be hotter! Limited variety! Rooms, although serviced daily, seemed dusty around power points, handles etc!
Review 127:Central location Pool
Review 128:Sometimes the Wifi didn't work well. Also the shower leaked a bit but there were 3 of us sharing the bathroom.
Review 129:My friends and I were ending a tow week stay in Thailand. We had been in Chaing Rai on a mission trip for a week and had spent 3 days in Bangkok in less than stellar accommodations. When we decided to spend a few days in Chaing Mai we had no idea how breathtaking the city and the hotel@ Chaing Mai would be. The room was beautiful and there was more than enough room for an extra bed. There were 3 of us. The Location was excellent . The staff was so kind and went out of their way to help with excursion plans, taxi cabs and wonderful advice and directions. Our stay was inhanced in so many ways. Too many to mention. Chaing Mai is a beautiful , friendly city with the BEST prices. Please if visiting Thailand , go to Chaing Mai first and stay at the boutique hotel @ Chaing Mai.
Review 130:I have spent a lot and spent a little when it comes to hotels. My research told me that if I wanted a few luxuries right in town, stay @ Chiang Mai. I was correct. I payed for the best room in the Hotel and was not disappointed,
Review 131:Breakfast, awful coffee in tiny cups! Staff were lovely but unorganised so charged us twice for the stay (over 12000TBh!!!) so check all receipts. Not deceitful just muddled!
Review 132:Location - within city walls, pool is small but fab water without too much chlorine, staff very helpful and charming. The food in restaurant was consistently good both Thai and western dishes. Amazing shakes and smoothies presented like cocktails.
Review 133:Internet speed is good, but may need to login several times, the pool is small, breakfast can be improved
Review 134:Good location, very close to Sunday night market, staff are really friendly and helpful
Review 135:breakfast low quality foods and bfroom not clean, pool not clean, room without appropriate lightning, bathroom with cheap soaps and towels.
Review 136:location good
Review 137:Very clean rooms Friendly staff with good English Free WiFi Good breakfast-plenty of fruit Restaurant -good food /inexpensive Clean pools beautiful gardens Close to night markets -easy walk
Review 138:Breakfast was so-so, but not a deal breaker.
Review 139:Staff very helpful, made appointments, arranged transport, etc. In Chiang Mai square walking distance to North Gate, East Gate, night market. A lot of nice small eateries, shops within walking distance.
