Reviews for Riverwalk Bed and Breakfast
Review 1:Due to our age and state of health, we did not like all the steps you needed to use to get to and from your accommodation. We were first in a lower floor room but due to a booking mistake had to move to the higher floor.
Review 2:The breakfasts were very good and there was nothing wrong with the service, cleanliness or view.
Review 3:Light sleepers may wish to ask for a room on the top floor
Review 4:Excellent location and proprietor is incredibly attentive and tuned in to the needs of travellers. Spotless, comfortable, pleasant staff and an incredible five star breakfast
Review 5:I had requested twin beds in our room and it was confirmed on booking .com, but when we arrived a double bed was made up. 3 sets of stairs and no offer of help to carry our bags. They just took the second payment off my credit card before we arrived without asking me. I won't stay here again. French drain in the drive smelt bad.
Review 6:Room was nice and pretty view.
Review 7:We had a lovely overnight stay. The room was really spacious and on the ground floor with a super large bathroom which had plenty toiletries and superb soft towels. The staff were extremely pleasant, friendly and helpful. We were able to walk a short distance to a variety of restaurants. We would definitely stay here again.
Review 8:The room was lovely and had a veranda to sit outside and have a cup of coffee in the morning. I was a bit worried about the road travelling there as a previous person has said a bad road to the guest house. It turned out to be not a bad sand road at all and for a very short distance.
Review 9:The hosts made this a memorable stay. They did everything to make us feel welcome and their whole attitude towards us was fitting to the old charm of Clarens! The facilities was excelent and we couldn't ask for a better stay!
Review 10:We booked a king room with a panoramic view. On our arrival we were informed that the room is not available due to a geyser problem. No attempt was made by the proprietors of the establishment to inform us beforehand of the fact that the unit is not available anymore, or to compensate us for the inconvenience caused. We were just pushed into a small room and had to accept it. Furthermore on requesting information on the town from the owner, we were told to go to the information centre in town, and that on a Sunday afternoon! He couldn't provide us with any information. Definitely a disappointment.
Review 11:Property was well situated, with beautiful garden. Quiet & serene.
Review 12:No aircon, stuffy in room as there are no burglar bars ,didn't feel safe to open window or door.
Review 13:Very neat and private ,but still close to town centre.
Review 14:At night, the property is accessed via a dark road.
Review 15:Friendly hosts, comfortable room. Breakfast was fresh and plentiful. The location is peaceful, but still close to the center of town.
Review 16:Not too bad, but neighbours left light and therefore fan in Bath on, which was a bit noisy, but owners helped out there to keep it to minimum distubance
Review 17:Lovely modern place with quiet location, in walking distance to the beautiful centre of Clarens. The owners were very fiend ly and helped in every way to make the stay more pleasant. Outstanding breakfast
Review 18:in the bathrooms: the first time we opened the taps,we did not know where hot and cold water was- right or left, in nr.5. it is difficult to know how the taps are working in the bathtub, in the basin a water mixer would be perfect
Review 19:beautiful view, friendliness, good breakfast
Review 20:Beautiful view, great location and host was very welcoming. Our room was big and bathroom was massive. A lot of little touches that make your stay wonderful. Thanks!
Review 21:The staff was exeptionaly friendly! Great location. Stunning views. Couldnt ask for a better place. Breakfast deserves a 20/10! Lots of efford made for the guests. Very clean, big, luxury rooms. Very private location. Walking distance to everything. I will highly recomend this place and they will surely see me again! Thank you Hannetjie and staff for a weekend we deserved! You guys are the best!
Review 22:None
Review 23:The welcoming was very pleasant and we were made at comfort. The breakfast was very special and the host went out of his way to make it even more special on my birthday with a bottle of champagne. Nice and quiet next to the river and beautiful views.
Review 24:Unfortunate delay during check in but was resolved and apologies accepted. Staircase to our room is noisy.
Review 25:Spacious room (no. 7) and bathroom. Excellent breakfast each day. Good service.
Review 26:All the stairs although the owner did offer us a place at the back to park which was on the same level as our room.
Review 27:The owners went out of their way to make our stay comfortable.
Review 28:Bed a bit short for a tall person. Would work well without the footrest?
Review 29:Tranquil, beautiful setting & view of mountain. Close to everything. Clean & fresh & attention to detail beautiful.
Review 30:Rooms are totally unimaginative, cold and dark. No decoration on any walls, no carpets... If it was winter and we had to stay indoors, it would have been terrible.
Review 31:Wonderful views from the balcony, walking distance from restaurants and centre of town. Wonderful breakfast
Review 32:The younger lady who greeted us on the first day wasn't very friendly. Some minor details are missing (hooks in the bathrooms, AC, etc.)
Review 33:Beautiful view, nice owner, solid breakfast
Review 34:Clean spacious and nicely presented rooms in a tucked away location. Short walk to an excellent local restaurant called Clementines. Anneke the owner couldn't be more helpful. I'd thoroughly recommend a stay here.
Review 35:It was very hard for me to park because of the incline
Review 36:I loved the quietness of the area and the owners are very warm people! Place was beautiful and my expectations were met.
Review 37:A lot of steps that may not be good for disabled people. Staff helped with suitcases.
Review 38:Very nice bed and breakfast. Room spotlessly clean. Could fault nothing.
Review 39:Wifi is poor and only at breakfast room available (the website is incorrect in this respect), poorly designed bathrooms with too small sinks and off centre mirrors (we had 2 rooms and can confirm that they both have the same silly issues). Price/quality is OK but not great. No soul - this is a recently constructed bland building in an otherwise charming historical town.
Review 40:Well located in walking distance from centre of town, parking on site, good breakfast, decent beds.
Review 41:The Hospitality we experienced on our stay was wonderful, and as for the breakfasts, they were yummy and certainly very filling, I would recommend this wonderful Bed and breakfast to anyone visiting Clarens
Review 42:Were not warned about power cuts, no lighting in the rooms to compensate or warning that restaurants would be closed - our first night travelling and this was frustrating.
Review 43:Easy walking distance to towns facilities
Review 44:Nothing
Review 45:A very pleasant one night stay at the Riverwalk B&B. Our two rooms were on the ground floor with direct access to the garden. Despite the heat, they were cool and comfortable, and the welcome carafe of sherry went down well too. In the morning we were given a superb breakfast. Clarens itself is well worth a visit - a small, attractive town based around a large green, with so many cafes, galleries and shops that you're spoiled for choice. On our hosts' recommendation we took a short walk to Clementines for dinner - that too can be recommended. And whatever you do, don't miss the drive through the Golden Gate Highlands National Park. Stunning!
Review 46:No swimming pool, but we knew that when booking and it is not a criticism, just for other travellers to bear in mind.
Review 47:Located in a stunning part of the country with good outlook. Rooms very comfy with the nice touch of decanter of sherry and chocolates. Very clean with excellent bathroom. Good views from the verandah for breakfast. Good eating places located just a few minutes walk away.
Review 48:Although it is definitely within walking distance of the hub of Clarens, at night you need to use your car. But the view and moderneess of the rooms definately make up for this!
Review 49:The rooms are modern with stunning views of the mountain. Breakfast was excellent and beautifully presented! Owners and staff very friendly ! Would definitely go again!
Review 50:Breakfast was very minimalistic. No pool
Review 51:Nothing specisl, but nice. If we go to Clarens next time we would go domewhere else though. Close walking distance.
Review 52:In the bathroom of room 7 wasnot enough light, only one smal spotlight
Review 53:Beautiful place. The very nice people. The spacious room . The breakfast.I forgot something and they send it to my home!
Review 54:Nothing.
Review 55:The Riverwalk is a lovely place to stay for a getaway. The views are spectacular, and it's so quiet and pleasant - we never heard the other guests. Close to Clarens town, you can just walk to the square. The bed was great and the pillows amazing. Had a lovely time there. Breakfast was fantastic.
Review 56:loved everything, dont have 1 bad thing to say
Review 57:Owner & he's wife were amazing, made us feel really comfortable. staff were amazing. even when it was pouring with rain, the owner made sure to us that there was an umbrella. great location, short walk to main square.
Review 58:the steps. not for persons with walking disabilities. It should be mentioned. I was in a leg cast post operative had great difficulty with the steep steps. - from parking to the room and then up to the breakfast area. No privacy as you had to keep the curtains closed. Other guests walk right close to the sliding doors.
Review 59:Cleanliness, Lovely décor, spacious bathroom.
Review 60:Movement and plumbing noises on the top floor during the evening was disturbing down stairs.
Review 61:The guest house is centrally located and only a short walk from the centre of town making the location perfect! The staff were all welcoming and accomodating. Breakfast, the highlight of my day, was delicious and consisstently offered more than we could possibly eat. The rooms were large, stylish, comfortable and provided a nice retreat after a day out. On site supper and drinks would have been a bonus!
Review 62:the drive way into the parking
Review 63:The breakfasts where superb with the fresh berries and a delightful decor on the main breakfast dish. The rooms are spacious and the beds very comfortable.
Review 64:The silent atmosphere in the breakfast room was a little awkward. There was no loo paper in the bathroom when we arrived but soon found some in the cupboard.
Review 65:Good sized room, comfortable bed, lovely staff, good facilities

Review 74:Location very good Room + bathroom spacious Breakfast was excellent Staff very friendly and great hosts Star rating justified and value for money
Review 75:No proper directions to the reception area. The staff were not particularly receptive, especially at breakfast. Also there was not enough provisions in the room. the advert is misleading in that it states that provisions are provided. Overall stay was disappointing.
Review 76:The location was ideal. Beautiful scenery.
Review 77:That we couldn't stay longer!
