Reviews for June Lake Villager
Review 1:The room was immaculate and the staff was great! The bed suprised me because it was really comfortable. I was looking for a reasonably priced hotel as I was arriving late and leaving early.
Review 2:The June Lake Villager has a very family feel to it. The staff is so friendly. Being a woman traveling solo, I asked the front desk for help putting on snow chains. The owner himself offered to put them on for me and he did. I was so grateful. The rooms are cozy, clean and warm and the bed was very comfortable.
Review 3:Bathroom needed updating and repair of walls and floor.
Review 4:Staff was very friendly and helpful. One of our group locked our keys in the room, and the manager brought them to our other room at 2:30am.
Review 5:Could have better quality TV and definitely needs to have a TV in the bedroom. Office hours are short and they're not always there during those hours. No phone in room.
Review 6:Excellent location right in the middle of the town of June Lake. Convenient parking right at each room. We had a two bedroom cottage that wasn't as roomy as the first time we stayed there, but was plenty big for us. Well equipped kitchen overall. Wifi was reliable and fast.
Review 7:Old furniture, rooms need renovation. We ordered double room but there was only one bed. We travelled with group of guys. We changed into 2 bed room called apartment but price was 2 times higher.
Review 8:The room had a musky smell to it. The floors were not even and bathroom lanoleum was old and dirty. The heater was so noisy that if u could get over the smell, the creaking appliances would certainly keep u awake. Over priced for what is was.
Review 9:This place was close to the lake and food places.
Review 10:Kitchen not fully supplied for anyone who wants to really cook. Stove top burners hot or extremely hot. No low settings.
Review 11:Dog friendly. Quiet. Nice to have separate bedroom and kitchen. Convenient to stores and restaurants. Wifi worked OK.
Review 12:Shabby, run down, no phones in room,. There is a broken concrete step outside 101. Excavations outside 118. We were given an upgrade which seemed like a joke. It was a worse room.
Review 13:Nothing
Review 14:The burner on the stove was messed up, and the bed was alittle hard.
Review 15:Great location and views. The room and bathroom was clean and fresh towels everyday.
Review 16:Don't plan to take long or multiple hot showers. Electrical outlets would not hold the items plugged in.
Review 17:Almost everything was great! The staff was very friendly and helpful.
Review 18:All doors were difficult to open and close. They would stick and you had to yank or push hard to open or close.
Review 19:Bed was very comfortable and wood burning stove worked very well. Lots of space in the BR and kitchen.
Review 20:Premises needs some repair work and painting; it was kind of run down. It looks like they are doing repair work currently as there was some construction equipment onsite,
Review 21:Room was very clean and bed very comfy as I needed it after a 400 mile drive. It was right across the street from the Tiger Bar which I recommend for food
Review 22:We loved this place! Such a beautiful place. Short stroll to the lake, gorgeous surroundings and lovely staff. Couldn't have been happier with the stay
Review 23:The place is nice but the place was very poor cleaning was bed hart they need to be more supervise my room was dusty and they go every day but for just do the bed, not take even the trash. Header did not work when I want it to use it. No pool or swimming lake
Review 24:Location the mountains the trains
Review 25:Cute little 1-bedroom cabin with nice views. Allows dogs. Has a full kitchen with refrigerator, stove, microwave, coffeemaker. Flat screen TV, excellent Internet service. Close to grocery store, bar, cafe, marina, trailheads, lakes.
Review 26:No a/c, older furniture living spaces not so good, tv hard to watch sitting sideways. No chairs only futon.
Review 27:Great location, very friendly staff. Very quiet area, comfortable bed.
Review 28:The parking lots are fewer than the rooms, so sometimes it's not that easy to park.
Review 29:Nice surroundings - mountains, lakes, chalet-style houses - to make it short, a picturesque village. Close to various placec of interest in Eastern Sierra Nevada and to the Yosemite National Park. And there was heating in the room, which is good, as tempreture at nights in September were pretty low.
Review 30:Had to clean the bathroom on arrival (it had clearly not be cleaned since the last guests), no breakfast included, quite small bed, and despite all of these it was very expensive
Review 31:large living room with kitchen
Review 32:Nothing bad. The buildings are a bit odd, floor of room slopes a bit, but not a problem
Review 33:Comfortable, value for money, restaurants nearby. A good location after leaving Yosemite NP. Room and bathroom recently refurbished.
Review 34:Staff could have told you a bit more about the area and what to do.
Review 35:Location, cleanliness & comfort of rooms. Great location to stay if your visiting the lakes and Yosemite.
Review 36:Just off the main road. Very little parking, No hot tub or pool. Thought it was a stand alone cabin, but it was actually more like a two bedroom apartment.
Review 37:Polite staff. Clean bedrooms, bathroom, dining area, and living room. Kitchen well stocked for basic cooking. Roomy for dining, watching TV, playing board games, cards. Nice wood-stove, though we didn't use it.
Review 38:We were 1st.assigned a room that smelled of animal or rodent urine.and was in a uninviting location . But we moved to a nicer unit.i was led to be leave it was the last room available when I made reservation. Pleasant though
Review 39:The kitchen needs serious updating. There is a stove, sink, refrigerator combination right out of the 1940's. A bit scary, but it worked!
Review 40:The June Lake Villager has a friendly, accommodating staff and clean, comfortable rooms. It is located right in the village, which gives easy access to June Lake and route 395.
Review 41:Good location, the room was clean and huge and with free wifi. As read in previous comments, there was still a construction site next to the motel but as we were there during the weekend, we haven't been bothered by the noise. The motel has simply everything you need to enjoy your stay and be comfortable without being pricy.
Review 42:On the whole the room was clean. well maintained, but care worn. Amenities were few, no phone (not a problem), tv had adequate reception (TCM and public tv). It was very quiet, fellow guests seemed very reserved and did not make any appreciable noise, externally I could not hear much of any noise from the main or nearby road. Located well within walking to food and supplies. Easy in and easy out. Good location for Yosemite NP, Mono Lake, hot springs around Bishop, and Bristle cone pine NM. August is a hot month for the area but comfortable, even without AC.
Review 43:They did not have our booking in their system but they found it by going to their booking.com site. Although we were given the last available room (that was a large Cabin), we did not have any tea or coffee making ability, we always like that in our accommodation after a long drive.
Review 44:We ended up in a large Cabin. The lady in reception was very helpful in setting a wrong right for us. The same lady came over to our Cabin in the evening to check if we were warm enough as it was very cold. She was very thoughtful and we appreciated her kindness.
Review 45:Floor is really slanted, i.e. Not level at all. The building has obviously shifted... It gives you vertigo. Head of bed is directly under window on first floor. Because it was hot we slept with window open for air, but it was a little un-nerving.
Review 46:Staff was really helpful, polite, available, awesome. Room was super clean.
Review 47:The whole place (including the village) was under construction while we were there. There is no place to Eat/Sit/Enjoy outside. With two little kids, I wish we didn't get a room that is four feet from a high traffic street.
Review 48:Good location, as in proximity to the village. The staff was very nice and accommodating.
Review 49:The accommodations were much better than a hotel room for a long term stay. In addition to a bedroom and bathroom that a hotel offers, the cabin-like cottage had a full kitchen, dining area, living room, and patio with barbeque. Also, we were very impressed by the binder containing the menus of local restaurants, places to go in the area along with maps and directions, types of birds and trees, and other useful information. This was a very thoughtful gesture that was much appreciated.
Review 50:We booked a room for 1 night at this motel & are glad we didn't have to stay longer. $100/night is not bad for a summer stay, however, the facilities were still subpar even at that rate. Came into the room, 65 degrees on the thermostat. Went to close the window, it was in bad shape, off the frame, propped up by something. I tried to turn up the heat but the heater wouldn't kick in. Walked to the office to let the lady know about the window, she had to come by and close it for us. She also had to grab a lighter to switch on the pilot light for the heater, since they don't keep them running in the winter. I'm sorry but I can only imagine how cold it would get in there over night esp since it was 65 when we got in at 3pm in the afternoon. The housekeepers or maintainence people should have addressed the broken window & cold room so that the customers wouldn't have to deal with it first thing as they check in. Although the room we stayed in seemed to be remodeled and the bed spread & sheets were good quality, the bathroom was old. The cheapest showerhead in the world in the shower. My husband is 5'9 and he couldn't even get under the showerhead to shower properly. In the morning we had a 7am wake up call by the construction crew right by the motel, jackhammering away for about an hour. Overall, I couldn't have had a worst experience at the Villager, and will not return.
Review 51:Free wifi.
Review 52:The hotel staff were very freindly and even provided me with some birthday treats after my wife told them that we were celebrating my birthday. The room was clean and good size.
Review 53:wifi rarely works, have to wait in the morning because of road renovation but that wasn't fault of owners and was just a problem when I was there, so for others will be ok
Review 54:staff, room ok
Review 55:The beds are hard Not much kitchen supplies just the basics.
Review 56:The staff are very friendly Location is great. A good restaurant across the street, the Tiger Bar great food but don't expect friendly staff.
Review 57:dirty room, outdated, poor service, noisy noisy road work going on during stay, being awaken by road work at 7:00 am, not enough parking for all guests in that area, parking area and sitting/bbq area same and right on street edge, no dishes or utensils in kitchen at arrival, no parking for motorcycle trailer we were towing
Review 58:location in enter of city
Review 59:Just outside Yosemite the motel is good value. If you are expecting all the creature comforts then this is not for you as you are in cabin country. we enjoyed our brief stay and would come back again
Review 60:We could hear every step of people walking on the upper floor. You are not allowed to use jacuzzi after 8pm.
Review 61:Unexpectedly there was small but nice Jacuzzi in the bathroom.
Review 62:Happy with everything! It is a plain and simple unit, so if someone is looking for luxury, then this is not the place.
Review 63:We loved everything about this place. The location near June Lake and other attractions was great. It was a wonderful little cozy cottage with movies to borrow and wood for the fireplace. Our family was able to spread out and feel comfortable in the spaces.
Review 64:Could hear a lot of activity outside and next door. Property was a bit old & run-down.
Review 65:Refrigerator and stove top, real kitchen. Unit was clean. Good night's sleep. Pet friendly. Staff helpful.
Review 66:The building was really old and dilapidated. Doors jams stopped doors from shutting, floors sloped and uneven, dangerous stairs to loft area.
Review 67:The area and views in the town
Review 68:Heating system made loud noise and was very outdated (afraid to keep it on for a long time) Very cold in the small bathroom
Review 69:Room was very clean and parking spot right in front of room Location close to Tioga pass (15 min) at the nice June lake
Review 70:Unfortunately we were in room 125 directly under the office and in the middle of a construction zone for the new Fish Cleaning station, so maybe we should have gotten a small break in the price. Still everyone was friendly and we didn't mind it much. You might look for rooms 122-124, or further down the slope rooms 114-118.
Review 71:The Villager on June Lake Loop is a quiet, peaceful retreat in the Sierras at an altitude of 7500 ft. Its very near the 2 lakes including beautiful Gull Lake a short walk away. Unlike many lakes and streams in this part of the Sierras, Gull lake is full of water, and June lake nearly so. The Villager offers many rooms in separated buildings near the office. The Tiger bar across the street offers good breakfast, lunch and dinners. The night when we were there was super quiet with crisp night air flowing thru the windows to sleep by.
Review 72:We liked the room. It was nice to have a little kitchen. It would be nice to have a TV in the bedroom to. We had a great time thank you. Steve & Mary.
Review 73:The office closed before we got there. Tried to call in route and got busy signal? Room dropped 4"s so your feet where above your head in bed. Heater wasn't on and wouldn't stay on. Plugged coffee machine into outlet on floor because the cord didn't reach. Pillows? Lol
Review 74:Wished maybe there was a little breakfast in the morning.
Review 75:When we arrived late afternoon in May, it was just as a snowstorm was beginning. There was no one at the reception but they had left an envelope with our name and keys to the room out side the front door. It was great we didn't have to wait around. A warm room and quiet.
Review 76:Room on the slant - which in many ways added to the charm.
Review 77:Friendly staff. Clean , comfortable, warm and a fantastic location. Had a nice meal at bar next door.
Review 78:The floor and bathroom were very very cold. Piping in the heater was very loud.
Review 79:The motel with nice and relaxing cabins is located at a good spot along the loop road. It's surrounded by eateries. The staff is very friendly.
Review 80:Used a credit card to hold the room. Upon check-in, paid we cash for our stay. When I got my credit card bill it had been charged in advance. I'm waiting to see if they remove it.
Review 81:Room looked just like website (although the pictures didn't show the muddy construction site we had to walk across to get our suitcases to the room).
Review 82:No breakfast. Heating with natural gas scared us and could not use the heater. Reception/office close at 9:30pm
Review 83:Small room but everything was neat and clean.
Review 84:no t v in bedroom-had to put my batteries in the remote to make the tv in the living room work-first room they gave us hadn't been cleaned- had to wait till after 4:30 to get another- nobody in the office-highly overpriced
Review 85:The bed was comfortable
Review 86:I hope they fix the fish cleaning station.
Review 87:I really liked the location and how clean the room was. I also liked the modern conveniences of the room. I will stay here again soon.
Review 88:Bed was lumpy, very uncomfortable. Did not sleep well. Floors stay cold, even when heater is up. We laid out towels to walk on because there are no rugs. Also couldn't connect to WiFi.
Review 89:Location was good, walking distance to everything. Out of the way and quiet.
Review 90:Not much open in the morning, but it would be the same no matter where you stayed..
Review 91:There are a lot of ways to do the Eastern Sierra...If you are doing them with a budget in mind this is a great option..our room felt like it was a step up from a standard motel room..Very clean, great shower, and comfortable bed..with the wood trim and vintage Yosemite posters it almost felt like a cabin..and we had the most basic room on the menu..
Review 92:The heating didn't work u ntil the morning, we were warm in the bed but the room was freezing!
Review 93:Comfortable bed, clean room, coffee machine! The view, local bar, and walk around the lake.
Review 94:It wasn't super clean - the bed and bathroom were clean and comfortable, but under the bed, behind the nightstand...that kind of thing...hasn't been cleaned for quite a while.
Review 95:I love that I can bring my dog without an extra charge.
Review 96:The house was very cold and it took long time to heat it.
Review 97:Nice cabin into the woods. Helpful staff, they helped us putting up a fire, lent us a sled. We had so much fun. I totally recommend it.
Review 98:No bath in the room -- but I booked late.
Review 99:Room was warm, bed was comfortable, TV had Outside Channel. Very rustic, and that's JUne Lake for you, location was perfect for me. Walking distance to two restaurants.
Review 100:If you're looking for a place that has the worst shower, burnt out light bulbs, two-prong outlets, $5 per load laundry room, and a bulldozer with a pile of dirt as the view from your room.....then this is the place for you. I had to use the ice bucket to capture water because the shower took low-flow to a new level. Your choices to make coffee include the bathroom or on top of the TV since that is where the three-prong outlets are. Spend $10-$20 per room to avoid dissatisfied guests!
Review 101:The area.
Review 102:Lovely place in a hidden little vilage. I am very happy to have found this place, good feel to it. Stone throw away from a lovely pub, with great food.
Review 103:Could have used a cooler in the room and I had some trouble with the coffee maker.
Review 104:The place was clean and for spacious. We did not expect to spend much time in the place so I got one of the least expensive rooms in the area. What was really nice was that hot water was available almost instantaneously - hot water in 5 to 10 seconds!
Review 105:The noise and the thumping sounds next door and up stairs where the owner or employee who lives there have al, alot of kids and they were running back and forth upstairs above us at all different hours of the day. Mostley when we were trying to sleep and rest. Not coming back.
Review 106:The tub.
Review 107:The first room they put us in, it was impossible to open the lock with old fashioned keys. The door basically had to be kicked open. We complained and they gave us another room which was much better and the key actually worked. Old fashioned locks and keys.
Review 108:When they finally got us into another room, it was quite nice with a jacuzzi and separate shower. Beds were comfortable..
Review 109:The threadbare carpet on the steps up to the apartment said everything. The refurbishment programme we had read about seems to have come to a grinding halt. We felt that we should have got far more for our money. Out of 9 places we stayed during our 3 week trip, this was the joint worst and it was the second most expensive. Reception was not even open for check-out.
Review 110:Nothing really.
Review 111:Had to fight with key to open door Cheap wood linoleum floors over spongy floor No refrigerator or microwave No hair dryer No AC/heater unit in room No closet
Review 112:Clean room Location Very hot water Blue tub, sink and toilet! HDTV Wonderful comforters
Review 113:We asked for another room, as we had a room right beneath the owners appartement and you heard every single step or talking. as there were no other rooms left, staff offered me an upgrade for a suite (no, not for free), as this was the only room left. The "suite" we got was very quite but shabby, doors did not close well and the overall condition of the suite wasn't worth the money.
Review 114:Very quite location to stop on the way from/to yosemite
Review 115:Older facility, very small room and bathroom needs some updating. Lighting was not good for reading (unless in bed) or knitting. Availability of outlets for hair dryer difficult to reach. Have stayed is less expensive with better amenities. However, overall very clean and very nice staff.
Review 116:Location
Review 117:broken light, slow wi-fi, thin walls, inadequate electrical plugs (had to put coffee pot on floor to plug in), unfriendly staff, whole room was run down and needs love
Review 118:location
Review 119:The outside carpeting needed serious replacement-watch your step. Although the weather had been rather cool, management had not turned on the heating system-we awoke to 66 degree in the room.
Review 120:The room was clean and the bed was excellent. Staff was cordial and responsive to our requests.
Review 121:Parking isn't the best, but adiquate. The bars of soap they provide are not much bigger than a quarter when new, and no soap dish in the shower. Bath towels were frayed. (talk about nit picking)
Review 122:Location, Location Walking distance to several good restaurants Spotless clean Very comfertable bed
Review 123:Bed was a bit soft, no lift could make it difficult for elderly to access top level
Review 124:Beautiful location, good information upon arrival, friendly welcome,
Review 125:No pool or spa. Husband would have liked an additional TV in the bedroom.
Review 126:Very nice one bedroom suite. Large kitchen, full size refridgerator and stove. Cozy, perfect little living room. Ample closets and drawers. Nice TV in Living Room. Wonderful location if you want to be in town.
Review 127:I had no dislikes whatsoever.
Review 128:Beds were comfortable and kitchen facilities were like home. Cottage was reasonably priced. We caught a lot of trout, did lots of hiking and had a great time!
Review 129:As a new visitor, I expect I can get tips and route recommendations from the receiptionist, they were not be able to provide any tips and not familiar with the places for fun. It's too far to the Yosemite, need another 2.5 hours. I would not take this in my next trip.
Review 130:The location was beautiful with outstanding views. The friendliness of the staff was brilliant. Room was a little dated but extremely clean. The newly opened brewery was a welcoming place with friendly locals. The tiger pub was right next door, busy and friendly.
Review 131:The buildings were very old and in serious need of repair and upgrade. There was no air conditioning and the two windows in the sleeping area wouldn't open to let in fresh air. It was hot and stuffy, hard to sleep.
Review 132:The location was good, but no lake view, they were pet friendly.
Review 133:It was much further from Yosemite's main attractions than we thought it would be. However, these areas east of Yosemite have their own beauty and sites of interest.
Review 134:June Lake, CA is a very quiet little town in a very beautiful part of the eastern Sierras. The town is very quiet and the way the units are situated you feel very private.
