Reviews for Star Hotel Chiang Mai
Review 1:room 502 was adequate at 25m square, why claim 30 ? no hair drier; as claimed. not that i care but beware the possible charge for hotel claim you took it. I squared that with reception after breakfast.
Review 2:good elevators, massive bed, quiet efficient air con, food good value. friendly staff, quiet in room, easy from airport 200 bt taxi. Very close to the night markets.
Review 3:Charged my visa twice in error but sorted out ok
Review 4:Good location. Very good for 3*** standard and good value for money. Would use it again without hesitation.
Review 5:I liked the huge bed and the friendly cleaning staff. Good location near the Night Bazaar, Anusarn Market and very close to the street with the massage parlours that lead to the square with the mote.
Review 6:we called them to change my reservation, they said ok, they already changed our reservation, but finally they didn't do any change, we wanted to change our 3 persons room to one single room, finally we just got one 3 persons room. that's not fair.
Review 7:no really
Review 8:The hotel was probably very good 20 years ago. Right now the equipment, furniture and carpets are used, however the hotel is clean and if you do not reguire 1st class stay it will be very good solution.
Review 9:Very good location, close to main street and night market.
Review 10:room decor is rather dark but beds are comfortable.
Review 11:great value for money. convenient to get transportation to anywhere at all. very close to night market, yet not noisy. breakfast is sufficient.
Review 12:None.
Review 13:Good temperature control given by the air con system in the room. The safe deposit box in my (upgraded) room was extremely convenient. Very efficient staff.
Review 14:Room 314 air-con was noisy Bathroom sink tap leaking Breakfast buffet was average.
Review 15:Perfect location walking distance - 5 min walk to everyday night market. Room was clean with huge king size bed. Good facilities inside the room. Hair dryer can request from reception. Reception staff were quite efficient too but a little extra smile with guest would be better.
Review 16:Smoking area shouldn't near lobby because I am allergy of that and lobby is a first impression for customer.I suggest to provide room for smoking and they should join together for that room and not people who allergy of that.
Review 17:Location, staff and breakfast are awesome for me.I will visit your hotel again for next time.
Review 18:The staff are the most honest people in the world!! It was very heartwarming when I was brought the purses (which I had unknowingly left behind in the room after checkout which had all my debit & credit cards and cash) to the airport!! Right from the housekeeping boy who came in for cleaning after we had checked out (who found the purses) and the hotel manager and the hotel staff who drove all the way to the airport and found me (luckily i had not crosses immigration!) I am very grateful to the team at Star Hotel Chiang Mai. Good people!!!
Review 19:The air con in the room was a bit noisy and so made it difficult to sleep. But still great value over all.
Review 20:Staff were very friendly and discreet when required. I got the Junior Suite which was nice and big and comfortable - a little bit dated but that wasn't an issue.
Review 21:Bathroom a bit dated and fixtures a bit leaky. Bit it was ok. Buffetbreakfast was ok, but if you go to breakfast near the end of the time, things in the buffet are a bit cold. Do not have your laundry done here.Very very expensive. Many places within a block to have your laundrydone much cheaper. This is the one area where we felt ripped off. Forsome reason (???) you have to get a new wifi user name and passwordevery 24 hours. Wifi was good, but this was a pain.
Review 22:Having read mixed reviews about this hotel, our expectations weremodest. Our room was lovely: we booked a Deluxe Corner and given that wewere in a corner room assumed that's what we had. But we learned 2days into our stay that we had been upgraded to a junior suite, whichwas quite comfortable. (Cannot report on what a Deluxe Corner would havebeen.) Location great for Night Bazaar and ok for old city if you'rewilling to walk a bit or hop a "red car." (Tuk tuks are a ripoff.) Staff helpful and friendly.
Review 23:Coffee creamer rather than milk in the fridge. The air conditioner was quite loud.
Review 24:Tea and coffee facilities in the room. Restaurant downstairs. Lots of TV news channels.
Review 25:The Wifi inside the room was too slow, but it was perfect if you come down and play at the robby. Other thing, the carpet was a bit dirty.
Review 26:Good location, just only a few blocks from night bazzar!! comfortable bed and the room very big. It is very worthy for money.
Review 27:Showers are not for tall people (I'm 1.87 meters).
Review 28:This was our 3rd time at this hotel. The hotel staff are very professional and helpful. Good location and good price.
Review 29:Cannot think of a single thing I didn't like
Review 30:Fab hotel with lovely helpful staff. Took was cleaned and replenished daily. Would deffinatly stay again.
Review 31:Very quiet and calm hotel. Staffs are very friendly and always smiling. Beds are comfortable. Beautiful city. Definitely gonna return here in Chiang Mai.
Review 32:Beds were hard. The twin room did not have a safe. Our booking did not come with breakfast (probably my fault), but the add on price for breakfast was reasonable.
Review 33:Great location and friendly staff. Breakfast had many options. Easy to get to night market. Short tuk-tuk ride to old town. Rooms were kept clean but it is an older hotel. The rooms would look very nice if they had new carpet and a new coat of paint. Hotel upgraded one or our rooms to a very nice suite (thank you!).
Review 34:Wifi speed too slow - unable to load an online platform. Ok for email and social apps, but inablity to load a program prevented an online transaction.
Review 35:Your efficient staff & excellent location
Review 36:Had high expectations when we checked in and they upgraded us from the double room that we had booked to a junior suite. Unfortunately, the air con did not work at all and, after trying to fix it twice, they moved us to a double room at 3am. We would have been happier to just have that double room to start with. Really annoying having to get a new login for the wifi every 24 hours and the Internet was slow.
Review 37:Really close to night market. Comfy bed. That's about it. Rooms are pretty cheap, but you get what you pay for.
Review 38:I believe removing the carpet in the rooms and make new floors would make a big difference. The carpet looks quite old and dirty looking. I'd assume the carpet is cleaned, just the look of it is not so nice. Not really inviting to walk around bare foot.
Review 39:The location of the hotel is very convenient. It's on a side street, right off a quite busy street lined with Bars, Restaurants and Massage places. The staff was always friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet is quite varied, from bread, toast, french toast, pancakes, eggs, fruit to meat, sausages, rice, potatoes, veggies and coffee and tea. The juice is not fresh but available.
Review 40:Everything was good - nothing to dislike
Review 41:Very friendly, helpful staff with good command of English. The double bed is gigantic and was very comfortable
Review 42:Old furniture, bed is not king its two single beds, breakfast is very poor for Muslims no variety at all, same food every day
Review 43:Good location, big room, helpful staff
Review 44:The staff is not friendly with directions and questions. I not sure is it because of language barrier. They charged for tea and coffee in the room which is rare although most of us do not need that. need to ask reception for hair dryer the extra bed is not comfortabLe. For people that are particular, have to look for other option althought it is close to night and warorort market,it is not close to good resturant or cafe
Review 45:The price is affordable. generally comfortable and clean and a quiet place to rest.
Review 46:No Australian TV yet French --query how many Aussies stay there compared to French. The bath is inaccessible as one gets older. Leaking taps and poor shower head --all things that could be fixed
Review 47:The location, free WIFI that seemed to work and the staff @ the front desk
Review 48:Lift rather old and small, Floor carpeting rather old an dirty, suggest change to tiles,
Review 49:Location is great as very close to the night market, price is a good deal and friendly staff who speak fairly good english
Review 50:The breakfest was awful. The restaurant where it was served was dirty. The room was not so clean, especially in the bathroom.
Review 51:Location, just on the night market.
Review 52:There is nothing to dislike!
Review 53:A nice room with a very good shower. The breakfast would have been great for an Asian. It was still okay for us Europeans, i.e. there was toast, corn flakes, butter and jam. Don't forget, the hotel is in Thailand!
Review 54:Felt that the manner of reception was not good, the facilities were old and not many suppliers for the breakfast. One more point, not sure whether we were checking out too earlier in the morning, we forgot several pieces of personnel goods in the room, but no one told/informed us about those things even we had waited for the room checking. We stayed twice in this hotel during our trip, but the first time no one told us that the coffee and tea in the rooms were charged. And others….no comment….
Review 55:free cocktail provided during valentine's day...
Review 56:Wifi was very poor as our room was located right at the end of the floor. Breakfast is average. They charge 50Bhat for the coffee sachet in the room and did not inform us of that earlier.
Review 57:The hotel was located nearby the shops, market area and restaurants (2 minutes walk) but not close enough for it to be noisy. The hotel staffs upgraded our room from a Superior to a Jr. Suite for free as we had booked an extra bed and the Superior room was too small to fit an extra bed. Staffs are helpful.
Review 58:The bed was quite hard. Although the restaurant was nearly empty for dinner, service was extremely slow as room service orders took precedence and there were many Mosquitos.
Review 59:The staff were very helpful and the room was very nice. The restaurant had a good international breakfast breakfast and lunch buffets.
Review 60:Poor and very old facilities. Hot water shower not working for 2 days. Cleanliness fair. Does not reflect a 3 star hotel standard.
Review 61:Location is near to night bazaar and bed is big. Staff are ok
Review 62:Wifi wasn't great but that is all
Review 63:The location of this hotel is excellent not far from the night market and around the corner from the bars on lo kroh road. The staff here were brilliant so helpful always smiling I definitely recommend this place.
Review 64:The wifi is a little bit painful. You have to get a new code every day. The manager gave me a hard time about changing my booking to check out a day sooner. But I will return because ultimately we worked it out. The breakfast was good, but better breakfasts exist at other Chiang Mai hotels.
Review 65:Star Hotel staff members were very helpful. The rooms were comfortable. We could walk to the night market and many restaurants easily with our kids. We would definitely return if we come back to Chiang Mai.
Review 66:No reading lamp, but, of course, few people read anymore. On sunny side, very hot sitting on sofa in afternoon.
Review 67:I would put a "very" before "good" in the categories above. Fairly close to Gymkhana Club tennis courts with good mix-ins Tues through Friday
Review 68:Bad reception staff, impolite while checking in. Rooms are smelly with 1960's style. Towels were ripped and bathroom was small with spots in WC. For three days I avoid taking the shower! No iron available in the hotel. Breakfast wasn't fresh and no choices and the area of breakfast wasn't clean. This could be considered as one star hotel. I didn't enjoy Chiang Mai because of this hotel!
Review 69:location only !
Review 70:Nothing
Review 71:Everything was nice. The people were so helpful especially the tour desk lady who helped us to arrange day trips. Stayed in a deluxe double room and bed was very comfortable and shower was nice. Breakfast was good too. Centrally located and about 15 mins walk to old town and 2 minute walk to the night bazarre.
Review 72:Hotel rooms are ageing and tired. Breakfast was disappointing, limited range. Inefficient method of maintaining heat to prepared dishes, most were barely warm. No pool or gym for those who may require these facilities.
Review 73:Location was convenient, only minutes walking to night market and Pantip Plaza. Junior suite was reasonable size.
Review 74:the room they gave me had a leak in the bathroom ceiling which was very annoying. Staff apologised and offered a alternative room but this really needs repairing.
Review 75:rooms are clean and modern and the location is excellent, not far from the action of the market streets. Excellent cheap eateries at walking distance.
Review 76:The room carpet was old and dirty - would not have walked on it in stockings - the kettle looked like it had not been cleaned in a long time, with crusty bit on the spout, the bathroom fan, activated when the light was turned on was so loud I never turned the light on. And the doors to the rooms are incredibly loud, so evey time someone leaves a room near by, you are startled. The bed was lumpy. It is a tired hotel, in a great location.
Review 77:The location of the hotel is great and the staff in the restaurant lovely
Review 78:The breakfast was the same every day very little choice you all ways has to ask for some thing self service every thing the staff in this area were not on the ball.
Review 79:Great location close to night barzar great number of places to eat and drink the street food is the best and the cheapest and it is fresh a bowel of noodles 30 baht around 1$ can't beat it along Khampangdin road, if want a drink or a massage then it is off to Loi Kroh Road were you have endless choices up to you.
Review 80:Holes in the bed sheet they were clean but still had holes in them. I asked for an airport pick up but one didn't arrive.
Review 81:Staff freindly, tour operator very helpfull and very close to night bazaar. All in all good I have booked again so can't be that bad.
Review 82:The carpets were filthy, there did not vaccum once for the 3 days I was there, the bathroom was black with mildrew between the tiles and door. So yes, 2-star would be my rating.
Review 83:Location was good for the night bazaar as it was only a few blocks away.
Review 84:Staff's English ability is fair to poor, super old furniture in the room (all of them look like they were brought second-hand and repainted), bring your own towel since their towels don't look clean, the faucets and bathtub in the bathroom are outdated.
Review 85:Located right in the heart of the night market, near a couple of convenience stores, many restaurants and cafes within walking distance
Review 86:No blinds on windows which allow sunshine enter the room and if you want to take a nap afternoon will be annoying. The room has old furniture
Review 87:wifi, comfortable bed, helpful reception staff, location
Review 88:no blinds for windows sunshine get inside room which is annoying if you want to take a nap in the afternoon.
Review 89:location, Wifi, quiet room, reception staff
Review 90:Staff could be more proactive in rendering a small help with the following: What to see & do in Chiang Mai How to get to places How much is the estimated tut tut fare Is fare flat rate or based on distance?
Review 91:Good value for money staying at this hotel. Location was great. Staff were helpful. I have had a good night sleep throughout the 3-night stay at this hotel.
Review 92:Room size..very big confortable bed.located in 2 minutes walk to night bazaar. MCdonald..burger king are very close..other resataurant can be found within the walking distance. Hotel staff are very friendly and always helpful. Front desk staff especially Ms.Natthanichaanan and Mr.Chinatan are always smile and welcome you that make me feel great and comfortable. Tour desk ladies are very helpful.
Review 93:Nice big comfortable bed WIFI The location to the night and Sunday market Great value for money let me check out at 2 pm no extra charge and were willing to give me an early check in
Review 94:Hotel gives only big towels, would be nice to have small towels for the face included as well. TV did not work properly. They send a technician to fix it, but he couldn't. We were offered to move to another room, but opted against it, as we fully unpacked by that moment. There are no rubbish bins around the hotel - very annoying.
Review 95:Hotel location is perfect - very short walk to the Night Bazaar, but on a quiet street. It was not noisy at night. Staff was very helpful and friendly. We enjoyed our stay
Review 96:Not all the staff members at the reception were allowed to extend our stay, so we had to ask several times a day to different people, little bit strange for a hotel like this. Though this is the only "not positive" thing.
Review 97:Breakfast buffet Wifi (though not comfortable with all the cards every day) Location Booking office Reception received my package in advance and responded to my email (in which I asked for this) inmediately
Review 98:The staff are not so nice.Very poor wifi!
Review 99:The price is good, the location is good. We stay outside mostly, so the hotel means not so much to us. The facility is old, but just enough. Very convenient to any places. Good pricing for a stay.
Review 100:The facility is old, but are acceptable. The Air-Con is leaking water, but cool enough.
Review 101:Location is good, near to the night bazaar, and not far way from the ThaPae Gate, about 15 minutes walk. For the other two days, they changed our room to Royal Lanna Hotel, which is even more better. The facility is old, but staff are all very friendly. The location is also very good. The breakfast is also nice. The price is good according to the service.
Review 102:Lots of ants in bathroom Bathroom not the most clean I've seen Quality of room looks much nicer on website than in real life
Review 103:Location Comfy bed Good value for money
Review 104:Restaurant bill with "extras", a little bit old hotel, but the worst part is that the phone was broken and they try to make us pay for it. Also I bought some minivan tickets to chiang khong on a really crowded minivan for 200bath extra than other people in the tour. At least the girl organizing tours was very helpful.
Review 105:Cheap hotel, very good location, nice rooms, clean.
Review 106:No gym, No pool.
Review 107:The restaurant was cheap and the foods were nice. Extremely cheap promotion price. Tourism counter helped to make my stay happier. Close to the night market street. Close to bank. Close to the city.
Review 108:some staff is not helpful most of staff dont speak English bathroom
Review 109:breakfast, Chief was real expert in cooking and I like has help and open mind to any comments location carpet comfort
Review 110:The room that we had Was different from the one described in our reservation on Booking (no city view, no special area with a sofa) Breakfast could be better.
Review 111:The position is excellent, few steps from the Night Bazar. Staff was friendly and helped us organizing tour and solving problems.
Review 112:There's nothing not to like.
Review 113:Everything. This is not a 4 star luxury hotel but is excellent value for money if wanting to explore the night Bazaar area.
Review 114:the carpet was very unclean. internet was very slow.
Review 115:the place is very good. not far from hight bazzar and center of the city. the price was realy low and breakfast was included. breakfast was diferent all days. it was to choose from. room was big enough.
Review 116:Would definitely stay here again, the rooms are are a better set up than ones like Meriden and the real expensive hotels, star hotel in my books is a five star hotel without the exorberate price tag. Value for money.
Review 117:Parking. Limited parking out front and the overflow is under a half finished building next door. Down a narrow road to the entry.
Review 118:Location is very handy to the Night Markets. Very friendly and helpful staff, front desk speak sufficient English. Best free WiFi we have had in Thailand.
Review 119:There was nothing I disliked.
Review 120:Location as it was very close to the shops and eating places. The breakfast was also good. The price is very good for a 3* hotel.
Review 121:1.) Coffee and Tea sachet pack are excluding in complementary. Once you will use it , you have to paid it.
Review 122:1.) Star hotel locate at strategy location, it is really close to night bazaar within 5 mins walking distances. Easy to access to 7-11, McDonalds', Burger King, dobby shop, motorbike rental shop, pharmacy..and Chiang Mai street food. 2.) Comfortable and tidy room which over my expectation. 3.) Value for money. Sure will stay this hotel at next visit. 4.) Easy to take cab, taxi, tuk tuk which nearby 7-11 areas. From hotel to airport ,it will take 12 mins.
Review 123:it's position is so strategic...near by Anusarn market
Review 124:Hotel needs some serious renovation. Moldy bathroom, stained carpet, bad small, air-con smells musty, fragile / unsafe doors
Review 125:Good location.
Review 126:beds a little hard.
Review 127:nice position, nice room, average breakfast.
Review 128:My room air-con condensing unit at bit noisy.
Review 129:Good Location. Friendly staffs and clean room
Review 130:Breakfast. Not many facilities. Smoking area in front of the hotel lobby.
Review 131:Location, large room, room amenities, TV.
Review 132:Outdated rooms. Internet didn't work on it for and staff were not helpful.
Review 133:Location
Review 134:Location was very handy to everything. Breakfast was excellent and a great variety for all tastes.
Review 135:Taxi to bring us from airport did not arrive . Hotel needs to be renovated
Review 136:very good temperature control of air conditioning system
Review 137:Everything went smoothly, nothing to complain about.
Review 138:Got free upgrade to a very big room. Very quiet yet night bazaar one block away.
Review 139:N/A
Review 140:The complete professional service from reception staff to kitchen service to room staff, I could not fault anything.
