Reviews for Angel of the Sea Bed and Breakfast
Review 1:Beautiful room in a great location. Staff was courteous and helpful. My wife commented that it was the most beautiful room she ever stayed in. get the room with the ocean view and balcony.
Review 2:The staff was very nice and friendly . I have never been to a B & B and Angel of the Sea was highly recommended . We had a beautiful room with a deck overlooking the ocean . I would definitely come back again .
Review 3:The location was perfect. Lovely tea at 4 followed by a very generous wine and cheese service at 5:30. Breakfast was awesome, you could easily get addicted fancy coffees offered. Staff went out of the way to ensure we were comfortable. Will be going back again next time we are in the Cape may area.
Review 4:The musky odor should be checked out from the crawl space. Since you breath 60% of the air from that space on your 1st floor and it would add extra storage room I would recommend at least having it looked at. Other than that our stay was enjoyable
Review 5:We've always enjoyed the Angel's hospitality and ambience.
Review 6:We had a very bad night's sleep. There were noises coming from the floors and there was a constant noise coming from above us (sounded like a vacuum cleaner but we think it was someone's heater). The walls are very thin so we could hear everyone around us.
Review 7:The staff was very friendly and courteous! We loved the wine and cheese and the breakfast was delicious. Great location for the beach and close to shopping/eateries.
Review 8:The the warmth, hospitality, food, cleanliness - can't say more about it! Had a very comfortable feeling from the time we walked through the front door.
Review 9:Unfortunately , there were people on the 3rd floor porch above us who thought it was acceptable to talk loudly and drag chairs across the floor until 3 am.
Review 10:Charming bed and breakfast in a beautiful house. Tasty food and lovely interior.
Review 11:Nothing, but my not mentioning anything does not mean there is no room for improvement, there is always room for improvement.
Review 12:I liked the attitude of staff , their readiness to step in and assist were needed. The rooms were homely.
Review 13:Would have preferred larger sized tv. Didn't realize how many stairs we had to climb to our room.
Review 14:We liked the facilities and decor. Enjoyed the afternoon tea and later the wine and cheese. Gave us n opportunity to meet other guests.
Review 15:"Breakfast" was continental at best ... Was not what I had expected from a "bed and breakfast " ....no omelettes ...nothing that I have even experienced at even a La Quinta or Comfort Inns we has stayed at across the US ... Sad because I had planned it to be "special". Evening wine and cheese "breaking down" at 630 because it ended at 7???
Review 16:Nice views of ocean ..
Review 17:The Angel envelops your spirit and embraces your heart the minute you walk through its doors! The welcoming staff -and engaging host and hostess-Ron and Theresa Stanton-embrace you like family and pamper you like royalty! Our room was gorgeous, and comfy-and clean. You can feel that the house is loved and it shines in its peaceful elegance. The gourmet breakfasts on the veranda, the afternoon delicious assortment of baked goods and coffee and tea , and the specialty cheeses, meats , wines, and crudités happy hours -barely leave room for dinner!! We had beautiful afternoons on the beach, which is just a walk across the street-and was provided with beach towels, chairs, umbrellas, and bikes! We felt very relaxed and thoroughly enjoyed our stay and can't wait to spend another getaway with The Angel and all its awesomeness!!!
Review 18:Beautiful quiet location. Relaxing porch and sunset. Great staff. Good tea and sweets, cheese and wine, and breakfast. Quaint Victorian room with all the extras. Beach chairs and bicycles incuded. Just the best!
Review 19:The cleanliness was fair. I suppose the facility need to be dusted more often and the fabric on the furniture needs to be cleaned regularly.
Review 20:We loved the friendly staff and the amenities
Review 21:bathroom was a little small.
Review 22:right across from the beach, beautiful historic gingerbread house, full breakfast, tea and wine/cheese all included. Plenty of seating on the porches.
Review 23:we did not know our room would be on top floor. my wife found it diffiicult to climb the stairs daily. We should be told that our room was on the third floor ealier at booking.
Review 24:service
Review 25:One of the rooms with king size bed that we were to be staying in wasvery dusty and on the third floor. The other room was not available forthe next two night that we were going to stay.
Review 26:The manager chet. Was very friendly and considerate. Because of him wewould come back again.
Review 27:Nothing major, the tub tap handle fell off but was fixed right away.
Review 28:The staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent. The room was very nice. Bathtub hard for me to get into, but cute. The building is lovely. Free bikes were a very good addition.
Review 29:Breakfasts were a bit disappointing.
Review 30:Fresh brewed iced tea, fresh linens & fresh air!!! The owner takes special care to see that all your needs are met.
Review 31:Rooms are in need of some updating, in keeping with the theme.
Review 32:Staff was excellent. Always ready to help you with a smile. The breakfast spread was delicious. The afternoon tea, cakes, wines and noshes were wonderful and plenty.
Review 33:No bad bad experience but the main area of the main house is a little spooky-Addams familyish. Too cluttered for my taste.
Review 34:The location just across from the beach and away from the downtown activity is great! Loved being able to sit on the porch.
Review 35:No dislike
Review 36:Staff pleasant and welcoming. My room was clean and warm decor. Plenty of towels, beach chairs and bikes available. Breakfast was delicious. Enjoyed their wine and cheese, plus other appetizers!
Review 37:there was NOT one thing we didn't love
Review 38:It was like a piece of paradise! I came with a friend visiting from Germany and she, who has been all over the world, could not believe the generosity and kindness, cleanliness and comfort and delightful ambiance of Angel of the Sea.
Review 39:The bed was just okay, room was cramped, tub/shower was hard to maneuver with no handrails.
Review 40:Location was great, staff was gracious, food was delicious.
Review 41:The hospitality of the staff was impeccable. The inn is very charming and clean as was our room. Breakfast was cooked perfectly and everything was fresh. It is also very nice that you can eat breakfast either inside in the dining room or outside on the porch where you have a most beautiful ocean front view. Tea is served in the afternoon with delicious baked treats between 4:00 and 5:00, and wine and cheese is served from 5:30 to 7:00 pm. We are looking forward to our next stay at this wonderful and most charming bed and breakfast.
Review 42:This property was so beautiful!!! The owners, Ron & Theresa, and staff were so friendly and helpful it made our experience even more wonderful. The food was absolutely delicious too. It felt more like a home than a hotel. We'd book it again or recommend it anytime.
Review 43:Some upgrades are needed -- age is showing with some areas, i.e. carpeting. Noisy room A/C units. If you opt to open windows in evening, there is also a lack of privacy as porch areas and seating are right outside your bedroom windows. The front desk staff seemed "pre-occupied" and not very friendly.
Review 44:Breakfast was great -- our servers were so pleasant. Location to beach was great. Loved the free use of bikes as well.
Review 45:My first time there i felt welcome I can't remember the gentleman name at the desk he was alsome there are a lot of places but I highly recommend Angeles by the sea... Thank you everyone... :)
Review 46:Could not hook up into the WiFi. Inside shower was a small area in claw footed tub. While it looked beautiful, I just didn't like fighting with the plastic liner during my shower. I preferred the convenient outside shower.
Review 47:Loved dining on the porch. Food and staff were wonderful. It was fun to ride bikes. We liked being so close to the beach. The lights on the house at night were magical. The ambiance was great. Staff members were friendly and helpful.
Review 48:No public bathroom on the main floor only in your rooms. Therefore every time I needed to go to the bathroom I had to walk up 3 flights of stair to my room.
Review 49:The staff was very friendly, the place was clean and located across the street from the beach. The place looked like an old fashion doll house, so cute.
Review 50:No really bad experiences, just that wifi did not work in our room.
Review 51:The inn is an impressive example of Victorian architecture and the owners have stayed faithful to its origins.
Review 52:We have been to Cape May many times, but this was this most relaxing. A beautiful porch to relax on, delicious tea in the afternoon and later on a wonderful spread of cheeses, salads & wine. Tastefully done!
Review 53:The staff was great and helpful and the breakfast in the mornings was amazing! Also loved the snacks and tea and wine avaliable throughout the day. They also have umbrellas and chairs as well as towels to take with you to the beach which makes everything 100 times easier!
Review 54:everything was great from the room to the staff to the breakfast, wine and cheese, bike rentals, beach chairs . location Wonderful cant wait to go back
Review 55:Plenty of good food and beverages included in your stay ,staff was very helpful and friendly. Great access to beach and beach restroom facilities. Bicycles, beach chairs and umbrellas were complimentary.
Review 56:Blinds were a little dusty, the room was very nice and comfortable. The wine and tea sessions were great
Review 57:Everything were great; other than what is noted below.
Review 58:Too far to walk to anything. Breakfast was cold. Took a long time to place breakfast order.
Review 59:Beautiful place with very relaxing porches. Great view of ocean. Pleasant staff.
Review 60:We have stayed at other B&B's in cape may, this is the only one that we had our own balcony looking at the ocean, it was like staying in a private Home
Review 61:No bath tub and bathroom door lock was inoperable so had to use door hook. Bathroom light switch was outside the bathroom.
Review 62:Wonderful beautifully restored buildings. Lots of stairs to climb!
Review 63:Staff was very hospitable and welcoming. Elegant breakfast outside on the porch in view of the ocean was superb. Afternoon coffee/tea and homemade sweets divine; followed by wine, cheese and array of appetizers. We will certainly be returning to Angel on the Sea.....two thumbs up!
Review 64:The room was kind of cramped, the bathroom was cramped and needs to be remodeled.
Review 65:We enjoyed the breakfasts, afternoon tea, and wine and cheese. The place is charming and the staff was pleasant.
Review 66:Everything is as advertised! The owner Ron wife Theresa, and the staff Chet, Mark, Destiny and Gail were all AWESOME ! We will return for a longer stay next time!
Review 67:It is hard to say what we liked most - the building is very comfortably adorned, our room was spectacular, and the king bed was arguably the most comfortable we've ever slept in. The Afternoon Tea and Wine and Cheese Hour are so thoughtfully practiced that they are a distraction from wandering off to the beautiful beach across the street. Angel of the Sea is also very accommodating for enjoying you day after you check out. We will definitely be back . . .
Review 68:The mattress was too soft. Everything else with the bed was comfortable (comforter, pillows, sheets, etc.)
Review 69:Loved the atmosphere and the breakfast. The staff is very friendly and accommodating.
Review 70:They did not have any irons in the room and had to use a community iron. Minor thing but felt the need to express it.
Review 71:Top-notch! Facilities food staff and owner were excellent and accommodating.
Review 72:The stay was perfect from beginning to end. We were greeted by the friendly staff and had a very quiet room. The afternoon tea and evening wine, cheese and crackers were highlights of our stay.
Review 73:We loved the fact that bicycles were provided for our use. We loved the breakfast. Unfortunately we arrived late and missed the tea and cheese and wine that is also provided here. This was the most amazingly beautiful Victorian B&B we've ever seen. It was also the largest and has a wonderful restoration story behind it. We loved it so much that we'll be back.
Review 74:The history of the bed and breakfast, the hospitality, the humble owners and staff and most of all the breakfast, tea time and cheese and crackers time which included wine. It allowed us to socialize with the guest.
Review 75:The Angel of the Sea was beautiful, decorated from the Victorian era. The breakfasts were huge & delicious. There was wine & cheese every evening. The staff couldn't have been more accommodating! The bicycles were fun! Loved sitting on our porch looking at the ocean. Highly recommend this place!
Review 76:The guy on Saturday was ridiculous about the morning breakfast seating. Everyone was looking at him like "are you for real". He made a fool of himself. If you don't want people to sit in certain seats, just remove them and don't tell stories about past guest...
Review 77:The room was clean, comfortable, and the food was really good. We met some very nice people and we had a fun time from start to finish. We will be back...
Review 78:From the moment we walked in, the place was rich with atmosphere. From the soft classical music playing in the background, to the lovely warmth and ambiance of the Victorian decorated fireplace mantel, it was like going back in time to a calmer, more inviting era. The kindness, friendliness and attention to detail by the staff made it a truly wonderful experience.
Review 79:Our room was right near the stairwell so it was a little noisy in the morning, but it wasn't too bad. If we visit again I would probably request a different room.
Review 80:Beautiful bed and breakfast with a cozy room. The staff was very helpful in telling us which places would be open this time of year. Breakfast was really good.
Review 81:a little bit too warm for me in the room although my husband loved it.
Review 82:Staff wonderful and helpful. Met some great people when we had wine and cheese and some more great people that we had breakfast with. Our room had a sleigh bed in addition to the bed, which served as a couch. So not to wake my husband in the middle of the night, i lay down on that and slept till 8AM, nothing ever more comfortable.
Review 83:I've always wanted to stay at the Angel of the Sea and this was a last minute, impromptu getaway. The staff could not have been nicer or more hospitable. It was a lovely weekend and breakfast was delicious. We'll definitely be returning!
Review 84:Our room was on the third floor which left us out of breath by the time we made it to our room. Next time we'll book a room on the first floor.
Review 85:We went before Christmas and the decorations and tree in the lobby were amazing. There was a tea in the afternoon which we did not attend but went to the wine and cheese event later. The food was excellent, especially breakfast the next morning. The staff were friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed our stay.
Review 86:we thought we booked a room with a queen size bed, and it was a double. very cramped. The walls were paper thin, and you could hear the other guests in the next room. We heard a TV all night.
Review 87:The building was lovely, and very charming. The grounds were maintained and kept neat and clean.
Review 88:Some of the porcelain pieces in the room were dusty but the room itself and fabrics were very clean. The bathroom was beautiful with a claw-foot tub and copper pipe hung shower curtains, but the area inside the tub to shower was small. I'm a small person and it was difficult to move as necessary without touching the inner curtain. I'm sure it's cleaned along with the tub but it would help if I knew it was as freshly washed as the bedsheets! Or maybe if there was a way to hang it so it was wider at the top than the tub area to give "elbow room" before narrowing into the tub? Oh, well, I may be too germ-phobic or watch too many "hotel impossible" shows!
Review 89:I like a rejuvenating beach vacation and this place provided it! Nice room, fabulous bed, quiet area, right at the ocean, with open space around the property and private, convenient parking. Breakfast was simple with choice of a different gourmet cooked offering each day. Tea & coffee all day with tea & pastries in the afternoon, wine & cheese & veggies every evening. Wonderful lounging area, wrap around porches, books, & board games. Chairs for the beach and bikes available all day, beach across the street, town center a short mile and a half away. It was like my own gracious mansion at the sea! The truly great part was the always cheerful, helpful, warm & friendly staff. I traveled alone and like my solitude but also enjoy good conversation and meeting new people at times. I felt no pressure to be sociable but it was easy to be whenever I wanted. It was a perfect balance for me.
Review 90:I didn't like the in season prices. But would highly recommend this B&B to anyone. It was our first NJ B&B experience & won't be our last !
Review 91:Loved the tea & biscuits upon arrival. The wine & cheese only added to our delight. The ocean view & walk along the beach were the prefect complements to our romantic Victorian room. Would return I. A heartbeat!
Review 92:Price - of course.
Review 93:Cozy room, excellent and courteous employees.
Review 94:Love old Victorian properties so this was definitely our taste. Food was excellent and the room was cozy.
Review 95:we were very impressed by the friendliness of staff and the both guests. We will stay where again.
Review 96:reasonably priced, met owner, very friendly and concerned with guest experience.
