Reviews for Dara Konagı
Review 1:Nothing!!
Review 2:A very old, very quaint building with a pretty courtyard, and a terrace with breathtaking views, where a healthy, local, delicious breakfast is served. The hotel is located in the narrow streets of old Mardin, where cars cannot pass. So it is very peaceful and relaxing. And the staff are just WONDERFUL!!
Review 3:Shower and toilet was in the room, as in just a small glass panel with no roof, so all noises could be heard from the bathroom. Not great info on the local area, when asked how we could go anywhere by ourselves they pushed their tour and driver on us who coincidentally found us in the street.
Review 4:Very good value for money, impressive looking hotel and room. Very polite staff. Amazing shower. Decent wifi.
Review 5:perfect place to stay. good location, close to anywhere you want to go, clean and very unique room, staff could help you to arrange a short trip to dara simple breakfast recommend
Review 6:Even though the old building was recently rennovated, and quite well so, not much upkeeping is being done: a few examples are a faulty switch, a loose faucet, no hangers in the closet, torn curtains.
Review 7:The building has character, its location is fine.
Review 8:The one of the highlights of the hotel : ''Free public parking is available on site (reservation is not needed)''. In Mardin and especially on the main street very few parking spaces and they are always occupied. The hotel doesn't have acces to the road, there is paid parking and it cost 15 TL / night and then you have to walk. I believe that that highlight shouldn't be even mentioned.
Review 9:The room was large and comfortable, nicely decorated, the hotel brings you back to the time. Even the way to reach the hotel through narrow and dirty street gives you some exotic experience. It also has a beautiful terrace. Staff is very friendly and helpful.
Review 10:If you have some legs disabling of something could be not so good movingaround. It has a lot of stairs but it's because of the buildingitself. From the place where the dolmus/taxi left you until youreach the place you have a long ride plenty of stairs so if you camewith lot of cases. ..Wish you luck
Review 11:For sure fai̇th is the best part of being here. So lovely man and takingcare of you every moment. For sure you'll discovering thingsotherwise you don'T. ...Thank you for everything I made myreservation in other property but that one was too far (as the ownertold me) so he make my accommodation in this place. Good to enjoy. Thelocation is good due you are in the center of the old town and walkingdistance from every place
Review 12:Friendly staff and nice location. Definitely recommended. Like in most of the renovated mansion turned hotels, bathroom is not completely separate from the bedroom itself.
Review 13:800-year old stone walls are great, but they don't have much soundproofing.
Review 14:A genuine boutique hotel (there are about 8 rooms on the property), with a great setting and gorgeous historic property. Fairly well-renovated and well-decorated, although not ultra-luxurious. Staff are friendly, casual, and very helpful and speak basic English.
Review 15:Nothing
Review 16:The owner Burak and the staff is really friendly and their guidance and help for planning the trip was valuable. Location and breakfast is good. Otelin konumu harika, son derece tarihi. Otel sahibi ve çalışanlar çok yardımsever ve güleryüzlü.
Review 17:At least during the winter there was no restaurant at the hotel for dinner. Not a major minus, just made a solo female traveller to think twice where and when to eat since it gets dark early.
Review 18:The hotel had that lovely old stone mansion atmosphere. The bed was super wide, the room was a bit cold (hot air from aircon stayed up naturally) but there were so thick blankets and an awesome hot shower so it didn't really bother me. The location was brilliant, nicely off the main road so rooms were silent. Really good breakfast too - would definitely recommend this place to anyone!
Review 19:I travel in very short budget, but this time I made an exception: during my stay in Mardin it was my anniversary. So I made a little effort to have a better to place to stay. Definitely I found it. This hotel is charming and its staff is helpful and reliable. Meet Ali, Resul and Fatih and you'll understand of what I'm talking about.
Review 20:I have no complaints about the hotel personally. But keep in mind that the building is old and some facilites were added. The architecture is a little bit difficult for older people because the stairs are old and not easy to climb - Benim otel hakkında en ufak bir şikayetim yok, ancak bina tarihi olduğundan renovasyonda bazı bölümler eklenmiş. Mimari özellikle yaşlı müşterilerin kullanımına uygun olmayabilir, zira merdivenler eski olduğundan tırmanmak zor.
Review 21:The hotel is located in a wonderful place. It is very historical and exotic. The staff and the owner are friendly and it worths to stay here for 1 or 2 days in order to feel the atmosphere. - Otelin konumu harika, son derece tarihi. Çalışan ve otel sahibi çok yardımsever ve bu otelde 1 yada 2 gece kalıp atmosferi yaşamalısınız.
Review 22:No Wifi connection to the rooms in the first floor. The second day there wasn't wifi anywhere. The bathroom was very dirty full of hair everywhere. Two cats were begging for food in the breakfast room.
Review 23:Very friendly and willing people who worked there. You could feel the atmosphere of an old house.
Review 24:The location was hard to find due to some repairs the government is doing around there. You'll be okay if you can ask someone.
Review 25:The hotel is amazing, very cozy and comfortable,. In the heart of the old city and with excellent services. You'll never regret to stay here.
Review 26:Layout of hotel - my room was too close to noisy reception and the entry courtyard metal door which gets constantly slammed shut. Bathroom not really separated from room and doesn't smell so nice, cold room and heater didn't work so well.
Review 27:Good value for pricey Mardin, breakfast, WiFi, right in old town. Got a good deal on booking.com but would never have paid full price.
Review 28:The hotel is located along a very dark sokak (side-street) that's almost impossible to navigate at night. But I guess this is a tough point and nothing much can be done about it.
Review 29:Quiet, well-located, serves good breakfast and has great rooms. The actual venue of the hotel - an old Mardin house - is itself historical.
Review 30:We had the twin room, look closely at photo 22/45, you can see the bathroom incorporated into the bedroom. Our twin room had a bathroom design similar with no roof, so the two outlet drains gave of a smell and was not pleasant. The air con stopped I had to get assertive to them to come back and finish fixing the air con previous to the guy being called away to attend to something else. As was the answer to alleviate the smell was to put the air con on.
Review 31:The guy who tried to fix our gripes.
Review 32:We passed some very relaxing time in Dara Konagi. Nice to have the delicious breakfast in the balcony on Mesopotamia. What's more, the staff is gentle and ready to help you (they managed to provided us a car to rent for a optimum price and gave information, maps and all necessary for a complete visit of Mardin). Data Konagi: hight suggested.
Review 33:Room that we stayed was not suit and it was small. So i recommended you check the room. I'm sure suits are larger. There was not table in the room.
Review 34:I was checking hotels from booking.com. I found Reyhani Kasrı and called them. I wanted to make reservation by phone then they asked me are we married or not. But Dara Hotel did not ask and show their hospitality. Also the hotel was not full. And they upgrated our room free. There is a great view from terace.
Review 35:We stayed in the ottoman suite and loved it. Beautiful restored stone. Closest thing to being royalty, four poster bed and all. The room was huge and we were able to take breakfast in our room each day. The entire staff was very accommodating and attentive, but Ali especially exceeded our expectations. He anticipated our wants/needs and fulfilled them with a smile and a respectfulness that, as a woman traveling alone or with other women, I rarely encounter. BRAVO to the entire staff and especially to Ali for making their guests feel at home!
Review 36:They need to hire more staff. The toilet location in the room isnot appropriate.
Review 37:The attitude of owners are pretty good. They (especially Burak Bey) were helpful. You can feel the history in the stone room.
Review 38:It is not possible to go out or leave the hotel if you want breakfast first. With temperatures above 40 celcius you want to visit interesting sites early. But breakfast preparations start at 8.30 at the earliest and you are lucky to if you can start around 9.00. Then the location is hard to find, no signs untill you almost reached the front door. It took us by car far far far too long. The small streets that lead to the location are really dirty and full of garbidge. Of course the hotel itself is not responsable for that, but the local authorities, but still. We think the hotel should also make a deal with the neighbour hotel for car parking. You cannot park your car free or you have to park in the main streets which makes that you have to carry your luggage over quite a long distance. Back to your car you are helped by the personel.
Review 39:Personel service attitude and the help by calamities. The view because the location itself is very very nice. The personel member that speaks good German is a great help.
Review 40:Booked a twin room got a double room.. but it was because we received new beds so I guess it wasn't too bad. .
Review 41:The staff was so helpfull even planning out tours and guiding us to the best rrestaurants etc.
Review 42:Staff were so welcoming and decent people.Building has historical value and renovated perfectly. You can feel at home when people offered you some traditional drinks and pleasant conversation.
Review 43:Unstable wi-fi
Review 44:Friendly staff and good view at the dinning terrace
Review 45:Cool room. Old and also somewhat luxurious atmosphere.
Review 46:They are great !!!!
Review 47:The view is amazing. Also location, staff and everything.
Review 48:Hotel reception knew very little English ao communication was a little hard.
Review 49:Clean, the reception helped me whenever they could. Central location.
Review 50:nothing
Review 51:you feel like you are in the mid century when you stay here. the place is decorated with taste.
Review 52:Despite the fact that Mardin is Kurdish city. They did not know Kurdish language fluently.
Review 53:Their smile and hospitality
Review 54:Hotel location and hotel service.
Review 55:Location is difficult to find. Please beware of your belonging esp money, keep your door lock all the time.
Review 56:Great breakfast.
Review 57:Wifi would not work in room but good in dining room.
Review 58:Building has lots of character and charm. Quiet location.
Review 59:Staff was friendly and helpful. Room was very clean. Location was great.
Review 60:Nothing.
Review 61:Very friendly and helpful staff, excellent location, great breakfast, breathtaking view from the terrace, comfortable rooms.
Review 62:Friendly staff, charming rooms in old style.
Review 63:In our opinion it is n more a back packers hotel but too expensive. It should also update photos of views and ALL rooms.
Review 64:The staff tried to be pleasant and were helpful
Review 65:The lack of shade on the terrace where breakfast is served. Needs an awning installed because the sun is too fierce even in May.
Review 66:Beautifully restored old building. Friendly staff. Comfortable bed with good linen. Good shower with properly hot water.
Review 67:Hotel is not easy to find from the main road as there are no signs. Neither the Navigation System nor Google maps had the right Location... Best idea is to drive into the parking lot on the right side of Cumhuriyet Cd after the intersection with Hükümet Cd and ask for the way to walk to the Hotel. There is no parking next to the Hotel and parking is an issue in Mardin so this is not the best choice if you travel by car.
Review 68:Very nice, ancient building in old part of town. Absolutely quiet. Spectacular view from the terrace where breakfast is being served.
Review 69:Love my stay at Dara Konagi! Hotel architecture and ambience are cool. Room and breakfast are nice. Owner and staff really helpful and friendly. If I come to Mardin again, I'll stay here.
Review 70:The parking area is close to the hotel but you've to park and walk and it's NOT free as advised. Wi-Fi is not working at the rooms and in the 2nd floor. When you sit at the terrace you see only a part of the valley among from the houses . They did not serve any food except breakfast, maybe because the season is not open yet?
Review 71:The staff are helpful , the room decoration is nice ,very big bathroom .
Review 72:Murat was very friendly and welcoming. The breakfast was always delicious and the view from the terrace was wonderful. My room was very comfortable. Dara Konağı is a gem! Don't miss it.
Review 73:A bit lound because all room share around a small yard. Hard to find in a small alley. The staff speak poor English even though they are try their best to help.
Review 74:The room is extremely clean and bed is very soft! 19 euros per night totally worth! And love the breakfast on terrace, the best honey and the fresh bread. And you can ask more if you want and free of charge.
Review 75:The location of the hotel: It can not be reached by any vehicle. So you have to walk with your luggage from the stairs up and down the road. We had reserved 3 rooms. Two had no windows outside. The people who stayed in these rooms said they couldn't have stayed there more than one night. Their rooms were very hot whereas our room couldn't get warm. Because AC was blowing in through the wardrope thus not effective in the room. The doors of the rooms are almost ancient. It was impossible for us to lock and unlock. Ours stayed half open during an icy cold night. I guess our opinion about this hotel could have been much higher if we had visited during summer.
Review 76:We liked the staffs friendliness and interest in our needs.
Review 77:The stairs to the upstairs bed room quarters are original but would need a rail. I think they will make it. In January it took a bit time to heat the room.
Review 78:The staff is very nice; the interior is gorgeous in the bed rooms and the terrace part. The scenery is stupendous. The location is difficult to reach even it is in the central old Mardin because the site is secluded. The staff will fetch you from where you are in the old Mardin and help you in all the practicalities. I loved to stay there.
Review 79:Wifi, tv and jacuzzi didn't work
Review 80:Great magnificent place where time has stopped. Hotel is really nice and clean but not easy to find since Mardin is a real maze. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Winter time it was really warm
Review 81:The room is so cool, very comfortable! My favorite is their bath room. Really good! Hot shower in winter season can relax and feel good :) the host is friendly and genereous! U should to live in it !
Review 82:Absolutely nothing.
Review 83:Excellent hotel to stay in Mardin. Staff was EXTREMELY helpful. Perfect location. Nice and clean rooms. Beautiful stone building, amazing and peaceful view from the balcony. Staff was not only our hosts, they also became friends to us. It is THE place to stay in Mardin.
Review 84:The bathroom was not cleaned, toilet very dirty. Staff very unprofessional, we had to look for the staff all the time, we needed something
Review 85:The room was nice, nice decoration, arabic style
Review 86:the boss
Review 87:wi-fi
Review 88:Staff hospitalty,
Review 89:The interior design has problems for an authentic and traditional ambiance
Review 90:Very beautiful rooms with great hospitality
Review 91:Bathroom is installed as a part of room, which doesn't provide privacy.
Review 92:Location, building, breakfast, hospitality, heating
