Reviews for Hi Coral Cove Bungalow - Snorkeling Point
Review 1:As a standalone resort is it has so much potential to be a great place but it is neglected and the facilities desperately need to be upgraded. NO wifi connectively!!! The listing states that wifi is 'available in public areas and is free of charge', please note the public areas is restricted to reception/bar/restaurant which is located up the cliff so not ideal to trek up there to connect to the internet. The lighting is dimmed at night, so it doesn't even feel safe to go up there. Reception/bar/restaurant is often left unattended, had to wait 30 minutes to check-in as no one was available. The small restaurant and mini-bar does not invite one to actually want to spend time there, I never saw anyone drink/dine there in my one week stay. Note there are no amenities located within walking distance, you need to have a scooter/car or jump on tuk tuk taxi to commute to Lamai/Chaweng/Silver beach to dine and shop. Lack of security was worrisome as a solo female traveller. The owners son was typically assigned to the night shift, this involved him sitting in an armchair watching TV whilst chain smoking suspect roll-ups. My concern for safety extended to him as I was not comfortable around him. Room lighting is SO DARK! Please replace the lightbulbs with 100w bulbs, would make a big difference!!
Review 2:The one and only reason why I stayed at Hi Coral Cove Bungalow is due it's close proximity to Vikasa Yoga Retreat, as they are located on the same grounds. I had been staying at Vikasa for a week, and loved it, but couldn't extend my stay as they were fully booked for the Christmas period so I chose to stay at Hi Coral Cove Bungalow for the sole purpose of sleeping whilst I continued to use the Vikasa yoga sala for daily classes and dine at the Vikasa restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner with my friends. Air con in the room was great, simply it to the required temperature as opposed to high/med/low and having to change it throughout the day/night. Electricity is still active when you leave the room, unlike many hotels/resorts with the key fob/key card feature that turns off when you removed the key to leave the room. Room is spacious and I enjoyed the view over the ocean and Vikasa yoga sala (white tent) which allowed easy access to yoga classes. Access to a private beach, you will often have the beach to yourself for most of the day and at max I shared it with 3-4 people.
Review 3:it was probably run by a family, which consider their ease more than their guests. Restaurant & lobby closed early at night, where as internet service was available there. Check out time was 10 in the morning :( and lady has special terms & conditions.
Review 4:The hotel operated last weeks before owner change so staff behaved awfully, could not have cared less The location is between beaches so taxi or bike is mandatory to get anywhere No cafes around Food in hotel cafe is expensive and average taste Pool is empty and will not work again No room cleaning The beach consists of huge rocks so no swimming here
Review 5:Awesome, unbelievable view Green territory Balconies are located so that you don't see any neighbours
Review 6:Furniture was going to fall apart. I have stayed with this bungalow twice because of great view. But all my bungalow were so old. Without soap, shampoo etc.
Review 7:Amazing view.
Review 8:Cleaning could have been better.
Review 9:I stayed here for a week. A very quiet place on the beach with great sea view. Breakfast and swimming pool are ok. Good value for money
Review 10:We arrived at the hotel at 7 pm and was nobody at the reception even if was ment to be open til 8 pm. I cold the number I had from the booking and we had to wait 30 min for someoane to come. Came a young man he ask us to pay and said he can't come to show us where is the room becouse someoane has to stay at the reception
Review 11:The bed was so unconfortable in our bungalow that we really had difficulties sleeping.
Review 12:The location and the staff is is just perfect. They are friendly and the surrounding is clean. Be prepared that you have to climb several stairs to get to the reception from your room.
Review 13:we were at the bottom of the hill/cliff.. soooo it was a long hike up with luggage when we left!
Review 14:we were at the bottom of the hill/cliff. sooo we kinda had our own private beach.
Review 15:Poor service attitude! Sincerely advise don't stay in the peoples all over the world Images with serious do not conform to the hotel, considered the place not only showed us the best Room no wi-fi, wi-fi and hall can't link Stair hundreds of layers, the fluctuation is very inconvenient Air conditioning old noisy let a person can't sleep, and does not open air conditioning is very hot Hot water lying, with also than the water a little heat, and water volume is very small
Review 16:noting!!
Review 17:Only one plug in the room. The door locks, although secure I would have preferred a self locking door when closed behind you
Review 18:Great staff. Good food and cheap, having lived in Thailand, thai food is overpriced in most tourist places but not here!! Great location, if you walk along the beach rather than main road you are right In the main part of haad rin in 5 minutes. It has lots of facilities, pool overlooking the bay and the sunsets. If your full mooning the set up is perfect!! Pre parties and the staff get you motivated for the night ahead, but calm resumes the following day! Often beds in Thailand are rock hard! We had a soft mattress and it's the best nights sleep I've had some living here. Would drubs telly recommend and will be back for a full moon in the future
Review 19:EVERYTHING! We check out the same day we get there. We make a reservation for a bungalow with a see view, but we get a beach front bungalow with a palm tree view, when want to change rooms staff say ok but you have to pay more. Than we want to get a redound because we didn't get what we pay for and they say they can't get as our money back. Bungalow was dirty, with lots of ant and hole in the flore. Bungalows witch had a see view were better but they weren't worth to pay more.
Review 20:NOTHING!!
Review 21:The staff where not to friendly. They didn't care much about the guests.
Review 22:You get what you pay for. It's not a good resort. It's ok for that price. A big plus is the balcony facing the ocean. This is a budget buddy resort. Don't bring your love/lover her. It's not romantic
Review 23:Need a scooter or taxi to get to the main beaches but these are about a 5minute drive away
Review 24:It's in between two of the most popular beaches Lovely pool Beautiful view Quiet private beach
Review 25:The food was tasteless and expensive. Very little to see in terms of snorkeling and the shore was very rocky. The only person speaking English was seldom in the reception area so be prepared to wait for her. Amount of stairs that you need to use to get to the bungalows and back is insane!
Review 26:Nice view and the bungalow had an external balcony
Review 27:Room was spacious and clean, the manager was very friendly and accommodating, pool area small but perfect to relax by. Real sense of privacy and being away from it all looking out at view from room terrace. Read the other reviews which mention location and the steps as bad points- know what you're getting before you book and you won't have any complaints. Suited our stay perfectly.
Review 28:Lamai beach was a bit far since the beach at the hotel was known for snorkelling. No wifi in the room, but understandable since we were so far from the lobby.
Review 29:Being able to go to sleep and wake up with the sounds of the waves from the beach. The pool The view from my porch The staff The overall set up of the hotel
Review 30:Very hard beds.
Review 31:Feeling like home, great sea view, staffs are very friendly and nice!!!
Review 32:Weather
Review 33:Weather was bad, but Ko Samui is nice and comfortable island with others possibility. Pool was clean and water clear:-)
Review 34:bed bugs! very steep hill! very old and run down place, rocky beach, not for swimming, mouse in kitchen - yuck!
Review 35:the view
Review 36:The rooms, not clean. Lots of stairs
Review 37:The view
Review 38:The area is very steep and hard to access, Bungalows are worn out
Review 39:View over the sea, friendly staff
Review 40:Room wtih view Nice pool
Review 41:Room needs to be cleaner. Only reason we didn't stay there longer.
Review 42:Private, relaxing, great pool, secluded terrace, gorgeous view, cheap, great location
Review 43:1. Remote area. Only one restaurant 2. No currency exchange 3. Wifi is only in the reception area which is on a top of the hill through a long flight of steps 4 too many insects inside the rooms ( cocroaches, lizards and ants) 5. No english channels on the tv 6 sea only suitable for snorkling. You cannot swim and the rocks have a lot of black scorpions 7 cross the checkout time which is 10 am and they will cut your water supply 8 . Only the receptiob old lady speaks english and they make up rules as you go like ya 50 bhat for laundary but 150 bhat is minimum charge 9. Bad food at the reception 10. The lady who searves you food will be removing dog ticks during the afternoon in the reception area 11. Offff bad staff attitude 12 . Have bike and 3g and snorkling gear and mosquito cream and u will be fine unless u hate lizards in your bunglow 13. They will charge u 50 bhat per bag they help you with down the hill
Review 44:Lots of steps. No spa as advertised. Scooter needed all the time whilst there because of location. No evening restaurant it stopped at 5pm, we didn't eat there quite expensive for food.
Review 45:Liked the staggered bungalows, not overlooked, very private and quiet. Good sea view. Nice pool. Nice location if you have a scooter and dont need night life. Good value accomodation for price, we had a nice bungalow for a week, but we stayed one more night and had to change bungalows the next one was not so good, but it was only for one night, no discount given.
Review 46:Nothing
Review 47:Amazing place to be.great view to the ocean .located just beeteen two main beaches in Koh samui.beautyfull swimming pool.love every Moment of being there.
Review 48:Light was broken outside bungalow and to get to the steps to the bungalow we have to climb a few rocks- not the safest. We didn't mind but others may find difficult. Wifi didn't work at while we visited which was annoying as we were in the middle of nowhere. Also motorbikes were all rented out so we had to walk about 30-50mins for dinner etc. TIP-get bikes early before they're all taken!
Review 49:Our bungalow was at the very bottom of the hill so we felt like we were almost in the sea. Waves were really loud. Nice view. Free breakfast was great(scrambled egg on toast with fruit on side).
Review 50:But the room had a huge spider. There is no room service. No phones. NoLifts. The reception is at the top of the mountain and the rooms are atthe bottom. For every need, be it food or just to ask for something, youneed to climb a 100 stairs.
Review 51:The view was awesome from our room.
Review 52:Staff were very rude...rooms dirty ...no drinking water...no toilet paper...very dangerous (no rails and poor lighting at night)...i could go on and on...all in all it was the worst place i,ve ever stayed in...
Review 53:Nothing !
Review 54:Not good value for money you can definitely get something better for that price! The amount of stairs going to the rooms is insane! Ridiculous to fathom anyone in anything but peak physical condition conquering them!
Review 55:The pool was nice and the views from everywhere in the hotel are amazing!
Review 56:The reception counter have a lot of mosquito and the room didnt providethe shampoo and gel.no hair dryer and even adaptor also none.the stairis too slippery for older people to walk.advice not to take a bigluggage,it's a lot stair .
Review 57:The view is nice!
Review 58:Not close to any town especially since the staff are not cooperative. Not good for the not so young since the rooms are far from the receptionand there is no phone, so u have to go up all the way. The breakfastoffered is unacceptable u do not even get a toast after the first 2 thatthey give. The hostess is insisting on charging everything, even thesoap shampoo and toilet paper. The rooms are not cleaned everyday. Wehad to get up at 5am on the last day to catch our flight, the receptionis abandoned at 7pm everyday and there is no one to help u after that. Also they have no Beach of their own. Do not go by the snaps there arefar better places in the neighbourhood
Review 59:It was on the main road. The view of the sea was awesome
Review 60:beds were old and hard. no toppers to help, roof leaked onto bed when it rained. tv channels were restricted and repeated many times, breakfast had no bacon or sausage had to buy from 7 eleven. car park small beach was dangerous for swimming lots of rocks. staff seemed uninterested in helping, not smile much...very steep steps, some just slopes,, no handrails dangerous in the rain, no water given for every day stayed.. in all less tha 2 star.would not take a lot to bring up to 3 star
Review 61:location right on the sea. pool was excellent, umbrella supplied
Review 62:No wifi in room. I had to go the front desk area to access the Internet .
Review 63:Awesome place! Great value for money! Everyday I woke up and looked out at the beautiful view of the beach and ocean. Great location if you get a motorbike. If not, there is no shortage of taxis because it's right on the main road between Lamai and Chaweng. Nice pool. Quiet. This is the best place I've stayed in Samui yet. And for the price, it's a no brainer. When I go back to Samui, I'll stay there again.
Review 64:Lot of steps:) insects in room.
Review 65:The view is perfect! The beach is 10 minutes from hotel with motorbike. But its not a problem because you can rent a motorbike on reception for 180 bath.
Review 66:1.There were no toiletries provided even though on booking the room it said we would have them.2. TV Didn't work, nobody repaired it 3. The pool was closed my entire stay for repair, no advance warning given. 4. The breakfast was nothing like as advertised, terrible! 5. Very unsafe to walk down to room, no hand rails in many places. 6. Stained and broken light shades and fittings. 7. Poor security, room keys left on desk for anyone to pick up after reception closes at 8pm. 8. Tired old furniture, badly painted 9. Bad electrics, wires hanging, lights badly fitted etc. Stained dirty light shades
Review 67:1. It was right on the beach.2. Very quiet. 3. The Air Conditioning was quiet and worked well. 4. Its cheap!
Review 68:The pool had too much chlorine, maybe it was being cleaned or shocked? Just avoided it and went down to the beach.
Review 69:Beautiful location with great seaside view, balcony with the breeze is excellent.
Review 70:- Very old bungalows- whole place needs to be refreshed - far away from all the cities
Review 71:+ View from the window on the ocean+ nice garden, small beach + swimming pool
Review 72:The staff shouldn't be working in the public sector. Signs writtenin pen on all computers saying out of order and no indication of anyattempt to fix. When we booked a taxi to the pier with the receptionistwe were quoted 600 baht, we flagged one down in the end as oursdidn't arrive and only paid 200 baht. Not really sure why the 400baht difference was for??
Review 73:Nice location just outside of busy Lamai beach.
Review 74:But be ready to meet little lizards
Review 75:We like our rest in the hotel. We had great view on the sea and beach. The 606 bungalow is closed by bananas trees from others bungalows. Good arrangment between two beachs (Lamai and Chaweng), just rent a motorbike from the front desk. They have good prices on new motorbikes. Also this hotel have a great evening view on the Chaweng beach where every evening you will see salutes.
Review 76:Views were amazing and the beach is very private and quiet close enough to town for night life but far enough away to chill during the day
Review 77:old, dirthy, no wifi in room
Review 78:nice seeview...
Review 79:room is really modest, an eye-sore
Review 80:price is excellent value for money
Review 81:Great value for money. Perfect for budget travellers. Felt like home :) Amazing view
Review 82:the beach was not that big and it was a bit dirty.
Review 83:View nice pool
Review 84:Too far away from everything
Review 85:Calm
Review 86:Lots of stairs if you are staying in the bungalows.
Review 87:Nice water views from the bungalows. The staff was super friendly and helpful.
