Reviews for Angra Garden Hotel

Review 1:We chose this hotel rather than others because it was supposed to have a gym and a sauna. Well it has them, but they were not working. The manager of the hotel told us that he will turn the sauna on, but he didn't. So actually we were paying more, for the services that were not availlable. The photos of the hotel we saw on booking.com were much nicer than the reality. Corridors and the restaurant is dated. On the end, when we wanted to check out, they wanted to charge us additional 3,50 euros for the water that we DIDN'T consume.

Review 2:We liked the location, and the garden next to the hotel.

Review 3:Pay a bit more than I did and book a room overlooking the lovely central garden courtyard - my outward facing room was noisy in the early morning from the light industry across the road - I guess you get what you pay for!

Review 4:Friendly, attentive and helpful staff; unusually good sauna!

Review 5:Some of the reception staff were not friendly at all. Breakfast was very poor quality. Our original room was right next to air con unit and noisy so we asked to move. Staff made us go downstairs to get key to another room rather than bring it up to us. It was as if we were inconvenient to them. Not friendly environment.

Review 6:Location -but then town is very small...

Review 7:breakfast is like a nightmare. Noise room and the bathroom old. Hard smell of umidity in the room.

Review 8:The hotel is in the centre of the village close to everything.

Review 9:Actualy nothing: only thing that comes close to a minor point is the fact that you need to pay 4 euros for a bathing-cask, which is mandatory in the adjacent swimmingpool.

Review 10:Location was very good: right in the centre of the city of Angra with the beach only 10 minutes walking distance.

Review 13:Breakfast was very simple. Staff recommend unsafe night club. Corridors unclean and even when I advised desk clerk nothing was done.

Review 14:Good location large room.

Review 15:Wi fi bAd. HAd to move 3 times. No wifi and broken light, next room broken air, next room broken light and tiny tv but we decided to just deal with that. No offer to help us move.

Review 16:Location

Review 17:Facilities for working/reading outside of the room (it would be nice to have access to a room with a few tables and chairs and a working WiFi). Breakfast was nice for a 3-star hotel, but could include some more items (e.g. more cereals or different fruit). WIFI in the rooms was broken very often (the hotel should find another service company). Other than hotel: Difficult to rent a car and expensive. It's probably wise to rent one before. Otherwise, taking the buses or occasionally a taxi is another option. Messy check-in at the airport. Unfriendly SATA staff at the gate for the TAP flight.

Review 18:The rooms with garden view are quiet and offer a nice view on a superb public garden. There are also front rooms that are probably noisy. The location (in the center) is excellent. The Island is worth a two week vacation and Angra is probably the best base. The staff is friendly. Tips: If you plan for a hiking vacation: Always carry a Goretex jacket in your backpack. Weather can change very fast and forecast cannot be trusted. Also, get a trail guide like the Rother, since you can do more than the five official trails. Shops with sporting items are sparse and don't have any useful items for outdoors sports (bring everything you need with you) In Angra, there are a number of decent restaurants and they serve more or less the same food, i.e. either a variety of fish and meat, or soup and salad. Not much other choice. Practically no night life (only one cool place), but street cafés are open fairly late and there is life music sometimes. Check the official announcements.

Review 19:Very firm mattresses

Review 20:Room with a view to the garden

Review 21:Like all places I stayed in Azores room was cold and damp

Review 22:Great location.

Review 23:nothing to dislike

Review 24:The location, the cleaness, the staff, the breakfast - everything is excellent!

Review 25:No wifi available Bathrooms not that clean

Review 26:Good location in Angra do Heroismo. Nice staff

Review 27:Being near the beautiful garden in the back, very relaxing and for the most part very quite

Review 28:Wifi was not available in rooms Elevator space. Very firm mattresses.

Review 29:Location..breakfast...pool Maid service (they were very pleasant and prompt) All the employees were very courteous . Car rentals in the hotel. Easy booking on internet.

Review 30:Most staff members were unfriendly. When checking out, the receptionist didn't bother to pause her phone call. The hallway had a very strong and unpleasant mold odor. The pool could only be used with a swimming cap, which you had to buy at the hotel. The spa looked dilapidated. Not great value for money, as with most places at the Azores.

Review 31:The location was absolutely perfect. Our room was facing the garden behind the hotel, which was very nice. The hotel has a nice (and pricey!) rooftop terrace bar.

Review 32:We never saw anyone using the extensive dining room or downstairs bar. We ate evey night in a nearby hotel, the Beira Mar.

Review 33:Room had good balcony overlooking a public garden. The Sunset Bar on the rooftop was a good location to enjoy a late afternoon cocktail.

Review 34:I missed a ventilation in the bathroom.

Review 35:The central location, the breakfast with the fresh fruits, the nice balcony view to the garden, the big bathroom with the tub. The friendliness and helpfulness of all the employees.

Review 36:despite being full for the festival very few folk ate in the restaurant though prices compared well with eating out - so atmosphere a bit lacking transfers from airport, 20dd km away, only by taxi which could cost 20 euro each way - very difficult to do by bus - we tried and failed to find the right bus stop - if indeed there ever was a right place but thats no fault of the hotel at 84 euros for b&b for two it was a tad dear compared with hotels on S miguel but Angra is well worth a look

Review 37:wonderful position in heart of a very beaut iful city and overlooking fine gardens spacious room and excellent meals

Review 38:The bed was uncomfortable. We were told at checkin that breakfast wasnot included with our room rate and when we went to breakfast and askedfor the bill they said it was free to guests. I did not like my dinner,it was not what I discussed with the staff serving us but they made noattempt to please me.

Review 39:Location and garden view from our room.

Review 40:I had stayed there 20 years ago and it was a pleasure to revisit it and the garden. I love the garden. I got a room with garden and birds view, which I had asked for.
