Reviews for Whispering Pines

Review 1:The fitted sheet did not fit so good and came off during the night.

Review 2:I liked that we had a kitchen and that the room was big and the heater worked great. I also liked the hot tub and the sauna which is needed after snowboarding all day. The view outside the room was gorgeous and we ate at the restaurant across the street which we could walk to.

Review 3:Wifi was On and off, didn't always work which was annoying since I had no phone reception up there.

Review 4:Basic needed amenities like wifi, coffee, spa, fridge, microwave and hot water were all great. For the price I can't complain, had everything we needed. We were just there for a place to crash between boarding.

Review 5:Wifi doesn't work in all places. People below me we're having sex and were rude about noise level! :(( So sound travels very easily! Gustavo the manager is very sweet.

Review 6:glad we only had to stay one night as a stop over on our way to San Fran. Very noisy hotel. Foot steps up and down the hallway/stairs kept us up. Hard and springy beds and the room smelt musty. Could not bring myself to shower there. Got up as early as possible the next day and left very quickly. Staff were very unhelpful with trying to get wifi to work (never got it to work). They also don't know their room locations as they told us our room was on the bottom floor and after searching for several minutes we discovered it was in fact on the 2nd floor.

Review 7:It has an incredible view! The rooms are comfortable and equipped with a kitchen with silverware and everything!!! Shower was excellent- water pressure, heat- flat screen tv !

Review 8:The bed & pillows was too soft and uncomfortable. Room was not dirty but certainly could be cleaner/better maintained. Kitchen floor was sticky.

Review 9:Nice quiet location - big room but dated.

Review 10:The shower door fell off, the bathroom faucet was broken. No stove, they were taken out and we brought food.

Review 11:Close to fishing and restaurants, beautiful views. The staff was friendly and helpful.

Review 12:Kitchen only had a refrigerator, sink and microwave. No stove or oven. Only dinnerware and silverware, no coking dishes or cooking utensils Bathroom sink had no plug - had to be careful not to drop anything small that would fall down drain Would have liked to have TV channel listing

Review 13:Good location-kitchen facilities helpful. Very large refrigerator

Review 14:Old but clean. Receptionist did not appear to speak English nor really care that we were there. Strange. But a gentleman who was there a little later was very helpful and courteous.

Review 15:Beautiful views from the room for a decent price. The full kitchen was a bonus.

Review 16:The view of the mountains is outstanding. The feeling I get when I'mthere. This was our fourth visit to Whispering Pines, and we are already planning our nezxt one.

Review 17:The entire cabin creaked regardless of how lightly you stepped and woke people up constantly, clearly in need of repairs. We requested a different cabin and were told none were available even though the other cabins remained empty the entire time we were there. Maid service did not come when they said they would and a florescent light bulb fell out of the ceiling and almost hit one of the kids. The staircase was extremely steep and had no railing or wall on one side so we had to work to keep the kids away from the stairs the whole time.

Review 18:Great location.

Review 19:Bed was uncomfortable and questionable cleanliness, rather dated.

Review 20:Such a pretty place, great for summer and ski season. Beautiful mountain views. Facilities include, large bed, kitchen and shower room.

Review 21:The hot tub wasn't that hot and had limited hours. Not that big of a thing really.

Review 22:Lovely views and good location for access to local sights. The kitchen facilities were excellent.

Review 23:Lodge interior was old and tired. Patio doors held shut with a pole andunable to slide open very wide. Sofa bed had the worst mattress ever andthe sheets didn't look clean. Bathroom very dated.

Review 24:Lovely views of the mountains and the a frame lodge looked lovely fromthe outside.

Review 25:- poor quality of the facility with very old furniture and equipment, e.g. VHS Recorder :) therefore low price-quality ratio - WiFi is not working in the cottage - not very friendly staff

Review 26:+ nice location: beautiful views, very quiet

Review 27:The property is run down and funky. The toilet would not flush, there was no air conditioning, surfaces were not cleaned.

Review 28:The location of the motel, near Silver Lake, is the most appealing feature of this property. Guest service was good.

Review 29:Run down, but adequate. Beds were fine, but old / threadbare and blankets have seen better days. No wifi in the cabins (needed to use it in reception).

Review 30:Gorgeous location - remote and with spectacular views. Kitchen area / dining table fine. Once we'd found heating we slept better on the second night...

Review 31:Priced way too high for low quality accommodations. Arrived 9 pm, no one appeared for several minutes to check us in, and then he was not very friendly. Place is shabbily furnished and poorly lit, and did not feel clean. Front curtain falling off rod. Front window loose in window frame. Kitchen floor very sticky. Will not stay here again.

Review 32:Beautiful scenic location on June Lake loop. We arrived in the dark and when opening the door in morning, we were awestruck at the incredible mountains just across from us. Coffee in front office was appreciated.

Review 33:No WiFi. Annoying raccoons were around, and were unafraid of hanging out at the front or back door looking for handouts. The kitchen and bathrooms are in dire need of an upgrade. There were ants on the kitchen counter each morning. Oh, during the summer, be warned that loud fishing boat motors will wake you up every morning as the fishermen take off across the local lakes.

Review 34:The location to Yosemite was great, and the small town of June Lake was really cool.

Review 35:A tad run down but we only needed a place to sleep for a night.

Review 36:We chose this place because it was 2 minutes from Frontier Pack Station where we had to meet at 7am. The place was packed. Great place for fisherman's vacation at June Lake area who don't need luxury.

Review 37:Should offer breakfast, muffins Bearcats or something. Only cost 10 cents per pastry for businesses at most. Kitchen stove was broken along with a couple fixtures in the cabin, lights, towel racks etc.

Review 38:Great view

Review 39:The carpets and furniture had stains, there was no air conditioning, and the tv's were analog. I would stay again if the worked on cleaning the rooms better and got wi-fi

Review 40:I loved the location and the surrounding area.

Review 41:The kitchen utensils provided by the hotel are very old and some of them need to replace a better quality. Although the unit is maintained clean, it's better to put more resources to upgrade the bathrooms to improve the overall quality of the unit. Some sofas are too old and feel uncomfortable to sit on it.

Review 42:The cottage which we stayed with enough bedrooms to accommodate five of us. A comfort size of resting area and kitchen suits for our family needs. Quite location.

Review 43:Nice if u could have breakfast, but there is a kitchen, and the restaurant opposite has a very nice restaurant, with view to waterfalls and mountain - together with nice breakfast.

Review 44:The nature - the view

Review 45:Internet was working poorly. It actually only worked for a bit in the morning, so we had some problems planning the next day of travel.

Review 46:It was clean. Location is nice if you are into nature.

Review 47:It's time for a makeover. Rundown. Hot tub was filthy. Toilets barely flush. Coffeemaker didn't work but they did replace it. Cleaning girls were great.

Review 48:We stopped over here on our way from Lake Tahoe to Death Valley. It was very comfortable and the views on the June Lake scenic drive were beautiful. There is a really good restaurant across the road.

Review 49:When I call them to make sure how to check in since it was my first time to use cottage, the staff replied, "have you ever stayed motel before" and hung up the phone. Also, it said free wifi in the detailed information, but there was no wifi at all.

Review 50:Too far from West Entrance to Yosemite - Pass closed to get back to West side - had to drive out of our way to get around

Review 51:Nice place - clean - great view - very good Restaurant - close to small town

Review 52:No food or breakfast facilities.

Review 53:Located in a beautiful area! June Lake loop is worth the trip. Also located right across the street from a larger hotel with a good restaurant.

Review 54:The mattresses are firm and OK but are inline for replacement.

Review 55:We stayed in a twin queen room. It had a separate full kitchen with dining table for four. A family of skiers will find it comfortable, not high end, but just the thing for a group wan ting to ski June and Mammoth which is just 25 minutes away.

Review 56:Jeff is an outstanding host! We had a number of challenges on this trip (sick child, car trouble), and Jeff was there for us every step of the way. We really can't say enough about his kindness and support.

Review 57:It was great for an overnight stop, lovely area with great views close to June Lake and Silver Lake. Liked the fact that it had a kitchen and if you stayed longer you could cook your own meals.

Review 58:Front desk occupancy was scarce (every time we needed them they were not there and didn't answer the phone. The room felt a bit poorly constructed (you could feel when people passed by your room) The refrigerator was a bit noisy.

Review 59:TV quality was fine (although a bit too small) Bed was comfortable, room was big, clean, tidy and well equipped (refrigerator, stove, sink...) Good Wi-Fi signal. Flexible with check-in/out times

Review 60:Bathroom was a bit unclean I had hard time sleeping (nose problem) after turning heater on - but it's probably my sensitivity to dust

Review 61:Service Comfort Location Quietness, privacy Beautiful place & the town Wonderful hotel for reasonable price !!!

Review 62:We booked a cabin, but they moved us to a more expensive A-Frame unit, at no extra cost to myself, because there was a minor maintenance issue with the cabin. However, I noticed another A-frame with a better view and asked if we could move to that. Even though they were under no obligation to do so (the cabin I booked didn't have a view), they moved us to the A-frame with an awesome view but honored my original price for the cabin. This was excellent service.

Review 63:We picked the main floor bed which had a hard mattress. Should have went upstairs, king bed was softer.

Review 64:Location, as we were visiting friends who were camping at Grant lake. We also got a cabin as a online special. Beautiful views in the morning. Would stay again.

Review 65:Sticker in the kitchen warning of $35 charge if any dish is not washed and dried. Bit harsh! Shower needs a make over.

Review 66:Comfortable beds and bedding.

Review 67:This being our first time in that location were not aware how far one has to drive to get any where. A location inside the park would have been better

Review 68:Peace and quiet

Review 69:The bed were about as cheap as they come. The pull out bed was worse and wrapped in plastic. For the price and location you would expect a little my comfortable for the guest

Review 70:Location

Review 71:Fairly sparse

Review 72:Good value for money. Once you accept it's a motel out in the sticks that has been furnished to a price, you can't really complain.

Review 73:I had originally booked this place for four nights to visit Yosemite but, on further research, we changed our stay to two nights and booked accommodation nearer to the south entrance of Yosemite for the other two nights. I would not suggest you stay at June Lake if you wanted to visit the Valley floor in Yosemite - as although you can get to Yosemite east entrance in a reasonable time it is a long drive to Yosemite's Valley floor. This accommodation is a good 2.5 - 3 hours drive from the Valley floor.

Review 74:The staff were very helpful - we upgraded to a cottage with a kitchenette and found the property ideal for our purpose. It was very clean and spacious. The furnishings were a little outdated but that didn't matter. This place is very handy if you wish to visit Bodie (ghost town) and the lakes nearby.

Review 75:The location is a little bit out of June Lake, so you can t just walk down the street for food etc, although there is a restaurant at a neighboring hotel across the road. Still, the remoteness of it does mean you get good views and its quiet at night

Review 76:The motel has a good location, is reasonably price, good sized room, included free wifi, has good views. Has a separate little kitchen with a closing door which is nice

Review 77:The staff was really help full and Nice with us. We faced problems with ouf car and they helped us! The room was quiet and well equiped! The view on the mountain is just great!!!

Review 78:We stayed here on our last day of travel and our room was located upstairs in the main two story building. Our room had a little kitchen that was fully equipped with dishes, utensils and cookery, dish soap, scubber and handtowel. Also a fridge, microwave and coffeemaker. Room was nice with ample space and bath too. Nice towels in bath. No problems with hot water. Bed was comfy and clean. The property is older and family owned and operated. The staff is onsite and polite. The property is clean and quiet. It isn't fancy, but that's okay because it is a pleasant place to stay. It has a 'homey' feeling. There was no A/C in our room and we were there in the warmth of August, but because of the elevation, it was not too hot. It cooled off nicely at night. Property is located in the canyon area between Silver Lake and Gull/June Lake and easily visible from the main road. Nice view of the mountains out the window. They also have a really nice ice machine too. There was no breakfast in the lobby in the morning but they did have coffee. We will probably stay here again when we visit the area in the future.

Review 79:Bed was like sleeping on a rock, my back and neck has hurt for 2 days. Also the TV kept going in and out of reception. Did it all the time, very annoying.

Review 80:Loved how clean it was and the Kitchen was a treat to have. The view was out of this world.

Review 81:No breakfast, and check out was a little early (10am) but this wasn't too much of a problem.

Review 82:The room was big and had a good bathroom and kitchen. It's located in an attractive area, and even though it wasn't too close to Yosemite (where we wanted to go) we were given information on how to get everywhere.

Review 83:The only thing that could be improved was the wifi in the room, but it really wasn't part if the room (it's available in the lobby), so although it was a little unreliable from our room, it actually was an extra!

Review 84:This was a clean, unpretentious place with friendly and helpful staff and everything needed for an enjoyable getaway. All the convenience and a homey feel to it that was instantly comfortable.

Review 85:It was very obvious to us that the property is not being taken care of. The main entry step was broken to the large cabin. Someone had just placed a loose board on top as a repair. Come on! This needs priority attention! Inexcusable! The asphalt in front has needed some repair for years. Broken pieces very painfull to step on. Nails sticking out of deck, dirt and grime build up inside cabin like we have never seen there. Broken lamps. The shower was disgusting. Bad enough with the weird ceiling. Mold, broken, missing grout, won't drain! Floor very dirty. Oven in kitchen is dangerous and should have been replaced years ago. We love WP but if this is how they maintain the property I think we're done which makes us sad. We wish WP luck and hope they make things like they used to be.

Review 86:We love the location and set up of the cabins. Great for family get-togethers.Have never stayed in the motel wing. Have always stayed in the large 1bdr A frame and a 1bdr cabin down hill. We have stayed here with, family & friends for many years.

Review 87:The A frame type cottage looked nice, from the outside. Inside, the carpet was stained and dirty. One side chair with stains on the arm rests and seat. Several small holes in bathroom wall. Sheets on second bed not fresh. Either not clean or not used for some time. TV remote not working. Probably batteries were dead. Mainly, I never removed my socks. Very scurvy carpet. Do yourself a favor, for a bit more money you can stay right across the road at the Double Eagle.

Review 88:The location in June Lake was great.

Review 89:• A chalet for 4 persons with two persons in the living room on an old sofa click snap type (announcement with a futon?) • Deficient insulation in sound and vibrations transmitted from the nearby rent passed on by the floor • Wifi does not work • Weak maintenance with badly fixed doorknob of entrance, damaged blind allowing to pass the light, bath seal is black on various location, cover of the armchair out of age….

Review 90:June lake

Review 91:Dirty everywhere - sheets, shower, floor, kitchen dish. There is a moyth on the pillow. Very old furniture and deco. Lamp shade is broken and looks like from yard sale. It's super noisy.

Review 92:location - in the mountains There is a kitchen.

Review 93:Office didn't open early enough for us to check out but they had a sign to leave the keys if no one was there.

Review 94:Hot tub was awesome and we got to check in early.

Review 95:Not able to reach front desk staff in a timely manner. Kitchen and bathroom need some improvments

Review 96:very close to our trail head location( rush creek ) rooms have decent size and the kitchen is a plus if you want to cook( decently equiped)It is a good choice for a low budget family trip

Review 97:heavy spraying of Lysol makes one wonder what they are trying to cover up. Torn carpet was a tripping hazard. Linens weren't clean. Ceiling showed evidence of roof leaks. Water was rusty and smelled awful. Heaters did not work at all.

Review 98:The obligation to close the curtain to have a certain privacy in the room because it is right on the balcony or the parking where everyone passes.

Review 99:The view on the mountain +++ The bed was really comfortable The staff was helpful The jacuzzi The facilities To resume I would say we really enjoyed our stay at this hotel.

Review 100:The house was in very poor condition and needed completely refurbishing. There was no privacy as the front door opens directly into the first bedroom and upstairs is a hay loft which is very bright due to the lack of curtains. There are no doors. Didn't get a good night's sleep there. Overpriced.

Review 101:The location was good, with a great view.

Review 102:We was not aware it was so far from the main part of town. We drove quite a ways and then turned around and went back and finally decided we needed to go further.

Review 103:Nice quiet place.

Review 104:Very basic breakfast provided. No shop in the nearby area. the closest grocery shop is 10mins away near the entrance of Yosemity.

Review 105:Mountain view in front of the motel was wonderful. You can even see and visit waterfalls nearby. There is a beautiful lake in walking distance where you can see people fishing and canoeing. The location is close enough to the northern entrance of Yosemity national park.

Review 106:A truck blocked the drive for us to get to our room the entire time we stayed at the hotel. This was a safety hazard. The front desk person was not very friendly.

Review 107:We stayed in a room which was in a building separate from the main hotel. The room was newer, large, and very clean. I was very pleased with the room for the price.

Review 108:Did not like the threatening notices posted around: Pets - $350 Smoking - $350 Wash dishes or $35.00 We were going to comply with all of the above. It just didn't seem very friendly.

Review 109:I liked the fellow who checked us in and out of the unit. The hot tub was very nice and it even had a dry sauna.

Review 110:unfriendly staff bit outside of June Lake town

Review 111:20min away from the East gate, so quick access to the Park Nice lakes around for leasure, fishing, hiking picknick Free Coffee in the morning was good

Review 112:No airco.

Review 113:The view from the window is amazing. No need to put on the TV, just install yourself on the deck. The house is clean, although the kitchen and bathroom could do with an update.

Review 114:The oven didn't work right. The stove had two burners that didn't work. I was cooking a large meal for our campsite family re-union so that made it difficult. The oven only worked on broil and that lit the bottom not the top.

Review 115:Location was great and cozy place with 1 bedroom and living room area. They cleaned the place daily which I didn't expect. That was a plus and we got clean towels and had a large refrigerator and freezer.

Review 116:Location, though beautiful, was not located where I thought. My search parameters were hotels between San Francisco and Yosemite. This was on east side of Yosemite. Our driving time was horrible.

Review 117:Helpful staff.

Review 118:I could hear people talking. I had a hard time sleeping. It was difficult to get comfortable. The owners wife seemed put off by the fact that we arrived early.

Review 119:I loved the view! The room was spacious. I liked that it had a full kitchen but did not need it on this trip.

Review 120:The hanging lamp in the room looked like someone had chewed around the edges for a nice snack!

Review 121:Staff was very helpful--my husband was on crutches and Gus and others helped us access the back parking lot so my husband didn't have to use the stairs.

Review 122:beds a little old and creaky

Review 123:The views are spectacular. Cabns are stocked with the necessary essentials for cooking/bar-b-q's Place is great for group of guys there for fishing & now with the new June Lake Brewery it has other destination choices

Review 124:Hole in the lamp shade. Two chairs with broken arms (wiggly). Looked like it could be updated.

Review 125:Loved the view, close to restaurant, I would only recommend if you give a little extra care fixing broken items.

Review 126:The accommodation was very run down, carpet torn, doors wouldn't open properly. The towels were damp and there were not enough for the five of us. The picture on the internet is not the same as we were given. It is the delux cabin. Called the reception twice and no one answered. Not good value for money at all.

Review 127:The location was nice. Peaceful and the view was amazing.

Review 128:Front desk gentleman was not very friendly, was not happy that we did not have packages of coffee in the room, not happy when we asked for a receipt, nor when we asked where we could get breakfast.

Review 129:Room was nice and big, well decorated, and clean and comfortable. Beautiful location at June Lake.

Review 130:A huge thank you for the amazing hospitality we received at Whispering Pines! We checked in with 24 people (without notifying them up front that we were a group - sorry!) and the Whispering Pines team spontaneously helped us arrange a barbecue for the same night for everyone. We had one of the best stays of our whole US trip there! Loved the rooms and cabins. If we ever come back in the region, we will definitely stay there again!

Review 131:shower dirty, walls and floor discolored due to body oils over time. Bring shower shoes!!!! No elevators, though staff was very helpful taking all my stuff upstairs.

Review 132:price was ok. I was going kayaking the next morning so chose this location as it is very close to Silver Lake. Also there are two other lakes very close. liked being able to reheat and cook my meals I brought from home. There was a nice looking restaurant across the street though I did not eat there. There is an indoor hot-tub though I was too tired to try it when I checked in. Owner very nice. free coffee in the lobby in the morning but nothing else.

Review 133:Didn't receive AAA discount like I typically do.

Review 134:Stayed there many times before. Quiet, close to hiking & fishing but far enough from town. Beautiful area!

Review 135:Distance from restaurants, affordable gas, and convenience stores - no continental breakfast

Review 136:Nice un-crowded hot tub (Weds-Fri), comfy beds, quiet rooms, full kitchen, plenty of close parking
