Reviews for Coral Cove Chalet
Review 1:1. No beach only 2 narrow beach. 2. Hotel is very old no suitable facility at all. 3. WiFi at room was horrible. 4. Toilet was broken no maintenence. 5. Very bad smell in room and not a worthy place to spend vacation. NB: i requested to check out early and went another hotel and got my money back.
Review 2:Only the staff were very helpful and polite
Review 3:The air con is too crowdy!
Review 4:Location: all the bedrooms &bungalw have sea view & is one of the best beach in the island.Snorkeling is very nice.just few people in august. Is in the middle of samui:in five minuts you cAn go everywhere! We arrived in august they had a party at the restaurant with live music, traditional dance & special food on the grill : it was a magic night * the food was soooo gooood! The swimming pool is very nice! The breakfast is good,is alot & you can order fresh eggs, omelett ecc...
Review 5:A few cracked tiles in the pool and the room could do with a lick of paint and new furniture but nothing major. Just for the price you pay compared to other hotels you expect perfect!
Review 6:Absolutely beautiful! Perfect for a romantic get away from the busier areas in Thailand. Private beach and amazing corals to snorkel around. Staff were extremely friendly and attentive. Food was delicious! Happy hour cocktails were brilliant and resonably priced.
Review 7:many rode noise, thailand car have big sound all time. no good clean up, bed have many mite, pool don't clear up long time. many miss take managment, forgot pick up and price ( need child food 250 THB/day, Web is free but lie)
Review 8:Can see many fish on the beach on Mar, but need sea shose and grove. beach side have many rock and coral. beach side stay and low price ( cotage better, I don't recomend suite room )
Review 9:Everything was very nice. Maybe the breakfast could have had a bit more options
Review 10:Rooms are big, they have beautiful views., very clean. The area is very pleasant and peaceful beach is very nice
Review 11:Food / room / noise / pool / decor / prices / lack of English spoken by staff It's had it's day it needs to be knocked down and replaced - worst place I have stayed in for years
Review 12:Beach /
Review 13:The rooms could be updated a little and the locks on the door were not very secure.
Review 14:We checked in here for three nights and stayed a week. The chalets are beautiful over looking a private beach.it was our honeymoon and it was very romantic.the staff were amazing and nothing was a problem.the breakfast was beautiful with lots of choices. The rooms were clean and the pool was fab .we had a great stay.
Review 15:Away from any shop or civilization so you either need to rent a car, a motorbike or pay the totally overrated taxi fees. Walking on the island is really not nice. Here meter taxi does not exist and they charge per person. Even the hotel charged us 500 Baht for a ride to the airport with own minivan!!! The drinks in the hotel are overpriced and if you want to eat and drink a bit cheaper without going to Chewang, go to the restaurant on the beach.
Review 16:The location is perfect if you want to enjoy a peaceful holiday. The hotel is not a luxurious resort but more a relaxed collection of bungalows. The rooms are quite comfortable and very stylish. The breakfast is OK - fresh fruits and vegetables, cornflakes, ham,omelettes... Drinks happy hour from 17-19 when you get extra cocktail.
Review 17:Too far from good beaches and towns, too expensive, poor value for money, location only acceptable when renting a motorbike for 200Baht/day, otherwise the taxis or songtheows rip you off at 200-300 baht per trip/person. Ocean at local beach is full of rocks, swimming is dangerous there and the sea is not clean. Food quality is acceptable to poor, breakfast quality and choices is below standarts for that money. Aircon in rooms is old style... either you freeze to death or you are cooked alife. When booking there supposedly where only 2 rooms left, but while we were there, most rooms where available. Better look for rooms at Chaweng beach or Lamai beach at half the rate and at better beach/ocean!
Review 18:Nice bungalows, helpful staff, spectacular views and ambiance, clean rooms, towels and bedsheets, wifi is ok
Review 19:Bed to firm. Amenities starting to get tired. And as usual in Thailand water amenities not as good as could be. Ceiling fans would have been good to avoid use of air con. But ceiling heights a bit low for this.
Review 20:Fantastic view from our beach front bungalow, away from the noise.
Review 21:The location was not great
Review 22:The staff were very friendly, however the location and facilities were OK
Review 23:The hotel is not new and the breakfast does not offer bakery
Review 24:The location, the cocktails and the close private beach
Review 25:2 Beautiful swimming/snorkelling beaches. Restaurant food and staff excellent!
Review 26:Personal is not call taxi. You have to catch it on the road.
Review 27:Calm place with clean sea water.
Review 28:Not much, if anything...
Review 29:Location right next to a private beach
Review 30:Dated furniture in rooms.pool side needs updating new beds umbrellas. Uncomfortable chairs pool bar.
Review 31:Sea view helpful staff, peaceful location.
Review 32:Nothing
Review 33:Hotel grounds
Review 34:In the first row closest to the street there is almost no sound insulation. If you're not used of city traffic, it can most definitely ruin your vacation. The air condition overrides that a bit, but in any case you will not have a sleep in silence. The staff at the reception, especially two a bit older ladies, not so pleasant all the time.
Review 35:Excelent balcony view on the beach from the left most deluxe room. Literally breathe taking. Beautiful beach. Pool and restaraunt staff is very pleasant and helpful.
Review 36:This hotel is very very poor value for money (we paid 80 € per night, and it was worth a maximum of 30 €). This is based on our experience fruing a 3 weeks-long trip in SE Asia where we changed place every 3 nights). Everything is old and neglected, it feels like the place used to be nice in the 70s, but nothing changed since then: paint coming off walls and chairs, wooden stairs between the bungalows were very old and with many holes, which was 'fun' climb at night. The staff are very unfriendly, but maybe this is because they are tired of tourists being disappointed as soon as they arrive and see the place. The photos online and in brochures are very skillfully photoshopped. We saw many nicer hotels in the same price-range on Samui.
Review 37:Good location - the beach next to the hotel is the best beach we saw on the island. This made our disappointment with the hotel slightly less painful. Also, after we paid for an upgrade from our initially offered horrible room, we had a bungalow on the beach with a beautiful view.
Review 38:I chose to stay in a suite with whirlpool. The room was clean, however, it was situated directly next to the main road, extremely noisy. Also a few licks of paint wouldn´t have gone amiss in the room.
Review 39:The location was lovely, situated slightly outside Chaweng and Lamai, but in easy reach of both towns. Coral Grove is situated on quite a steep hillside, but is a beautiful site. Breakfast was ample, cooked as well as cold choices. The personnel (with the exception of reception) were all very friendly and helpful.
Review 40:Some staff vague and unhelpful, a real mixed bag as one or two very good. Restaurant lacks the abity to produce anything vaguely good, keep your eye out for the miserable little chef, (I use the term chef very loosely) at breakfast, he really is hard work and never cracks a smile. Venue really needs a face lift, everything is starting to look old, showers just a trickle and decor a bit sad and sorry. Shame. Oh don't lean on the railings as all the signs tell you, you'll be on the beach quicker than you expected.....! Just about sums up the whole venue, really needs some TLC.
Review 41:Beach is fab, private little coves and really nice water, can be choppy or calm dependant on wind and moon cycle so be mindful with little ones. No amenities close by so a cab or moped is always needed. The hotel lacks ambiance with regards to eating and entertainment. Overall if you want a quiet relaxing day on the beach surrounded by nicely manicured gardens far from the madding crowds you can't go far wrong but don't expect the Ritz. Some nice wildlife and bird song too.
Review 42:It is rated much higher than deserves. The pictures were taken about 20 years ago and they didn't touch anything since then. We booked the best room with its own jakuzzi, the bathroom is a disaster. Ugly, looks dirty, used, broken shower doors. I was not careful enough to see there are no photos posted about the bathroom. The rain falls in the room!, the handrails says everywhere: don't lean on it - dangerous. You have to laudly hit the door to close, can't do that with the key, a consistant "drumming/bombing" wakes up in the middle of the night during the entire stay. It would not worth the half of this money or for this money you could find a much nicer, better equipped accomodation in the city center not miles away. The bfast is also below the average, very limited choise and not too tasty, warm fruits full of flys. We were not disappointed because we didn't want to dine here but the bar closes at 18.30, the restaurant at 23.00. The gym is a small dark corner facing to the wall with equipments in bad conditions - all together we are very-very disappointed and not sure if want to use booking for our next holidays. Happy to share photos.
Review 43:the view from the balcony
Review 44:The bathroom was very old, needs a remodel. The staff is not the friendliest in the reception area. This hotel is quite expensive if you compare it with others, you can find a better one for less money.
Review 45:The view was nice Private beach
Review 46:I think we got slightly ripped off by the airport transfer price; the hotel charged us for a private transfer then we ended up sharing with another couple who presumably paid full price too. The restaurant is a bit pricey compared with eateries in town but if you don't have transport its fine.
Review 47:Excellent location between chaweng and lamai. (but you need a moped its not walkable) Beautiful private beach. Would have no issues in recommending this hotel; book it you won't regret it!
Review 48:Spent money for the most expensive room and left our key in the room at midday. Returned and couldnt open door, had to stay at a lower quality accommidation. Was not inmpressed. Would not ever recommend this place for another couples honeymoon. Place/furniture was old and paint on walls was falling off!!
Review 49:Breakfast could be done better and it could be open until, atleast, 11 am.
Review 50:- Perfect position, in the middle between lamai and chaweng- easy to rent a motorbike - one of the best beach in samui
Review 51:We had a Jacuzzi Suite room with a lovely elevated view unfortunately very close to the mainroad directly behind the room so between that and the very noisy aircon sleep at night was interrupted.
Review 52:Loved the location of Coral Cove a magic spot away from other busy areas and especially liked the casual beach dining down at the Cove.
Review 53:Good location, great peaceful private beach for relaxation, VERY friendly staff, nice and clean rooms with sea and pool view (they changed your bed sheet and towels EVERY DAY), good breakfast including cooked food and fresh fruits. Only 10 minutes to Chaweng beach, Lamai beach and 20 minutes to the Fisherman village with motorbike (the motorbike is 5 dollars per day). Great value for money! We really enjoyed our stay at Coral Cove Chalet!
Review 54:Reception staff weren't to friendly or helpful. Make sure you book a moped from reception in advance of when you need it as if you plan to go anywhere...you will need it or fork out for a taxi as nearest shops are 3kms away. Restaurant is great but expensive as not much nearby competition.
Review 55:The bungalows were lovely and very private. Easy and multiple beach accesses and great restaurant and pool. Really loved the buffet brekkie and staff in the restaurant were very friendly and attentive.
Review 56:Twenty years ago the staff were friendly and warm. Now they're rude and cold. Nuff said.... We're finished with the place. Cheers
Review 57:Not much ....
Review 58:Distance from main attractions: You definitely have to rent a motor bikein order to make your way-around (5 km in either direction to Chaweng orLamai) - the moving around costs add-up. Hotel should be able to rentyou motor-bikes for free.Restaurant prices were over the average, although the food and service is great! SPA extremely overpriced.
Review 59:The location because it allows a quiet relaxation from the noisy main-attractions aroundThe hotel facilities are extremely nice: both the accommodation, the outdoor pool, the private beach access and the view, are incredible !! All staff speaks English and they all were very nice during our stay. I would definitely recommend people to book the hotel (try and do that directly via email - you`ll get a better price than booking.com)
Review 60:One incident that disappointed me - when it rains the tiles on theprivate decks become dangerously slippery. I fell over and cut my legvery badly, and badly bruised my other. Lying in pain on the floor, wecalled for some ice to be brought up to our room. No ice came, and whensomeone finally arrived they cld not understand at all what I was askingfor even though it was clear what had happened. Instead the employeefound it funny that I had slipped which really irritated me. Nice hotelbut the staff need a little lesson in etiquette.
Review 61:View was great and nice private beach. Breakfast was good enough for thestandard buffet.
Review 62:Terrible fitness center, language barrier an issue, food is overpricedfor the quality & everything has a 17% tax. We had to turn off ac touse the shower, otherwise electricity shut off. Power went off in entirehotel during storms but eventually turned back on.
Review 63:Breakfast was good; eggs, pancakes, french toast, cereal, Thai food, etc. Grounds are nice with great views of water, 2 small beach coves onone side of hotel and a longer stretch of beach on other side. Pool isalso good. Highly recommend room #104, stunning view, private balconyoverlooking crashing waves!
Review 64:very polite and friendly staff

Review 68:Restaurant Food is nicely presented and tastes Good, nice pool

Review 72:Just the reception staff was bad, not available and not kind, the opposite of the all other staff of the hotel
Review 73:Everything was great
Review 74:Location (far from crowded streets and beaches), small romantic beach with clean water.
Review 75:To and from... only by taxi!
Review 76:Very good rooms
