Reviews for Anantara Chiang Mai Resort
Review 1:The staff did a free Thai massage for me while I was sitting on the couch waiting for check-in in the lobby. My room type was full after my booking so my room got upgraded to a suite for free. The whole environment in this hotel was very quiet and comfortable, it was definitely the best highlight of my trip in Thailand.
Review 2:We went over new year and had to pay for a compulsory new year's dinner. We were happy to pay but for the cost, 8500 Thai baht (US$240) a person, I was surprised to find that basic soft drinks and water weren't free flow. A five star hotel shouldn't be so stingy, even if they want to make money on beverage sales, they could at least offer some soft drinks or sparkling water complimentary to their guests. Really my only complaint from our otherwise wonderful stay at the hotel.
Review 3:Stylish hotel with comfortable rooms, although a bit of wear and tear was visible. Not exceptionally large for the price you pay, so I did rate it slightly lower on value for money. The location is very convenient for exploring the old city and we enjoyed being by the river though travelers wary of mosquitoes should be warned, the hotel does their best to manage it, but mosquitoes are everywhere and even in the rooms. The staff were superb, very friendly and helpful without being overbearing. The spa and pool area are both lovely. Nice peaceful breakfast area overlooking the river as well. The restaurant 1921 is highly recommended, delicious food in nice a setting, especially recommend the booth seats for couples.
Review 4:Very impressed with the food and the spa treatments. Although it is pricey but is worth it. The design of the place is great, rooms are beautiful and the bed is so comfortable I can melt in it.
Review 5:must have turn down service and anti mosquito spray. room too dark. not much to do for kids. why can't they allow kids during the cocktails hours in the lounge? If not, they should provide free child care service during those hours, otherwise, if you have young children, don't bother staying at the executive level.
Review 6:lovely ground and hotel design. oasis in chiang mai
Review 7:A bit pricey, no late check out
Review 8:Location good, Staff friendly, especially the young girl from Hong Kong, very helpful. Room is big, balcony is good, just a little more Mosquitoes
Review 9:Nothing
Review 10:Just completed 6 amazing days at the Anantara Resort in Chiang Mai. We have been lucky enough to stay at some amazing hotels and resorts around the World and this was one of the best. The staff, service, attention to detail and responsiveness to any large or small request was incredible. We loved the location. Close to town and the night market but once inside you felt like a world away from all the hustle and bustle in Chiang Mai. The food at the hotel was some of the best we ate on our entire trip. We have never stayed at a Anantara Hotel, but will definitely do so again. They made us feel very special from the moment we checked in and made our first trip to Thailand a great experience for our family. 5 stars for sure!
Review 11:Nothing really although the candlelight dinner on the grass could have done with candles above plate level - tea lights on the table lead to some guessing of what we were eating.
Review 12:The staff (especially Polly but many others) were so caring and understanding Polly took time providing options for tours and then organising for us. The decor and comfort levels of the hotel was excellent. The location is nice by the river although a tuktuk to the city is recommended(& fun)
Review 13:many rooms have their entrance door just a few meters away from a busy road which means a lot of noise; the floor to the rooms are always looking uninviting and dirty; the swimming pool was not rely a place to relax as guest on there way to the rooms where constantly passing behind your beach chair;
Review 14:breakfast and breakfast place as well the bar where inviting
Review 15:low efficiency of house keeping dept. i spent 1 hour to check in and 1 hour to change a room
Review 16:clean & excellent environment. perfect afternooon tea time.
Review 17:Leaving!
Review 18:The hotel decor was ideal for the setting. The staff were fabulous and extremely attentive. There was a real feeling of calmness and tranquility. The reception lobby is the perfect location for afternoon tea! The attention received at the pool was second to none.
Review 19:Cant fault it at all, can't think of one bad thing to say about our stay here.
Review 20:The staff here were amazing, they couldn't do enough for us, we stayed here for the first part of our honeymoon, we chose one of the Kasara River View suites which was amazing, you got access to the Kasara lounge such where you could have breakfast and also complimentary drinks were put on each evening in the lounge so well worth the money, such a wonderful hotel, the breakfast was great, the pool service was second the none and the pool itself was very peaceful and relaxing, overall a great luxury hotel. Would definitely stay here again.
Review 21:Great service and staff Fabulons decoration very beautiful and very well located Special thanks to Tun at the swimming pool who was a real professional and so nice person !!
Review 22:Some areas of the hotel need a repaint The building works opposite are rather noisy
Review 23:The staff are fantastic. 1921 restaurant is excellent Walking distance from Chiang Mai town
Review 24:The only inconvenient was the drilling on the road maintenance near my room, was noisy
Review 25:Facility, staff, spa great, location convenient, great new restaurant just amazing and attentive staff , overall great experience
Review 26:mosquitoes is a real nightmare in this area being next to a poluted river. Hotel is a bit pricy. Breakfast location is nice but poor breakfast as well as the bakery products were not fresh (moistured)
Review 27:staff, room decoration & cleanliness
Review 28:They overcharged us too much when we booked some tours with them, but when we forgot our shoes at one tour that they booked to us, they did nothing to help us recover them. There is also too much mosquitoes at the whole hotel
Review 29:The swimming pool and the garden view
Review 30:Only suggestion would be more Thai snacks on poolside bar menu
Review 31:Wonderful location by the river, incredible design, superb breakfast buffet as well as a la carte if required, friendly and exceptionally caring service. We stayed in extra large luxurious River view suite - wow. All in all wish I was back there right now
Review 32:At one point, we had exhaust-like fumes coming out of our vent. We called to complain and ask to be moved and the hotel sent up housekeeping to deodorize the room with spray to which we said 'no'. We asked to be moved and they said there were no other suites available to move us. Tried to comp us with some free soft drinks at the pool (really!). We aired out the room and went for a swim hoping it was temporary and it soon passed.
Review 33:Good hotel overall but not sure it commands the high prices. A little worn around the edges, especially the pool.
Review 34:The cable selection is very sub par....most 3 and 4 star hotels have more offerings, especially english speaking stations....please investigate this...,
Review 35:The people... Big, Tanya and so nancy others I can't name.....
Review 36:Wonderfully comfortable beds, great decks on every room, terrific breakfast, convenient location, great staff that speaks excellent English. We will definitely go back.
Review 37:Mosquitos Some walls in the corridors / public facilities are a bit old
Review 38:This is my first stay at an Anantara resort. Being an ardent fan of Anantara spa in Shanghai, my high expectation has failed me to certain extent. Along the way there have been some hiccups (like broken water pipe, mosquitos everywhere, some sub-standard staff, etc) during our stay but overall speaking the service was quite good and there're always some fixes. Breakfast is good but Sunday teaset is soso. Location is good and literally next door to the Night Bazaar and the Mae Ping River.
Review 39:Bed could be a bit harder. Rooms could be a bit bigger.
Review 40:Great place to stay if you visit Chiang mai. We were with our 5 mth old baby and staff was very welcoming - we were given cot, steriliser, baby bath. Location is brilliant - next to night market and you can walk to old town. 100 meters away restaurant and cooking school. Restaurant in hotel is great too, both for meals and for cocktails - overlooking the river. There were some mosquitoes but sprays were available. Staff was very nice. We loved balcony in our room ( towards river ). Ambiance and layout are very nice and its a cosy and beautiful place to stay. Its former chedi hotel.
Review 41:none
Review 42:great reception, room service, neat room, wonderful landscape design & many others. 10 mins to dining place with great food. remember to include your breakfast as it is totally worth the price.
Review 43:There was paint missing in some areas near sliding doors in the bathroom and in a few other areas. Nothing major but for $300 a night I don't expect to see wear and tear like that. A map Of the facilities in the room would be helpful. I don't like exploring.
Review 44:Staff was excellent. Rooms were comfortable and catered to western preferences.loved the bathtub. Rooms were very comfortable.
Review 45:The size and softness of the bed
Review 46:Very friendly and supportive front desk. Breakfast with a high varity of fresh fruit and various kind of other healthy food. Location are also close to the recommendable nightmarket.
Review 47:Dare to say, less variety of breakfast slow WIFI
Review 48:Riverside near old city. Beautiful garden. Simple and and quiet atmosphere. Quick response of staff
Review 49:Noise from the street affected my sleep due to this could not have proper sleeping.
Review 50:Staff attention to details
Review 51:The hotel is very stylish and clean. The pool is a good place to relax , and the massage is brilliant too.
Review 52:very inflexible for not allowing 5 people in a 105sqm suite and 3 people in a deluxe room 50sqm. extra bed for 3rd is extremely high.
Review 53:Quite expensive
Review 54:Location was excellent
Review 55:everything was perfect

Review 71:Nice hotel, lovely facilities, very friendly staff
Review 72:wish to have more F&B facility and boat landing.
Review 73:I like the hotel location and by the river side and quiet.
Review 74:The food at the high tea sat out for a long time and was stale or cold by the time we ate at the buffet.
Review 75:We took four kids with us. The staff are all very thinkable, polite. We enjoy our time there. The adternooon tea is super!

Review 94:Beautiful hotel..great food ..great service ..great location
Review 95:Fantastic room. We had a Kasara suite with a river room. Very big and the room was great and quiet. Check in process was great. Staff service was fantastic. The hotel was extremely clean and relaxing and the location was excellent - 5 minutes from the night market. Food in the restaurant was great, and at breakfast also. The pool was big and fantastic. The gym was excellent. The spa was great too. Get the Kasara suite for access to the lounge - well worth the money to start your evening off with some drinks and canapés!
Review 96:Nothing...
Review 97:Super nice hotel. Great for relax. Near night bazaar and walking distance less than 10mins. Hotel provide a super good dinner menu and reasonable price. Opposite hotel there is a good restraurant called Pum restraurant and cooking school.
Review 98:I love this hotel very much. Everything is good, beautiful view, comfortable room, friendly staff. My flight from Chiangmai was really early (6am), hotel staff marked our flight time and taxi time at first day of our trip, also gave us a really good breakfast box when we left. It's very helpful and nice. I definitely will be back to this hotel again.
Review 99:The Hotel is beautifully designed. The rooms were clean and very comfortable. The Bar, though not cheap, had real character and excellent for a pre or post evening drink. It was the little touches throughout the hotel that made this place special. If in Chiang Mai again I will certainly be back.
Review 100:Practically nothing, everything was just perfect !
Review 101:We enjoyed the calm and relaxed atmosphere, the good breakfast, the stylish and confortable rooms, the wonderful swimming pool.
Review 102:The Anantara is a gorgeous hotel with lovely service and food in a beautiful and convenient location. It was a marvelous oasis and final hotel in our tour of Thailand and we loved every minute there. The staff is marvelous, too - so professional and warm and accommodating.
Review 103:The beds are very soft and are in urgent need of a change. The dinner in the restaurant was disappointing with the food of only average quality yet very expensive. Currently the hotel is suffering from an infestation of mosquitoes.
Review 104:This hotel is under new management and changes are already under way. The service level is excellent and the facilities are very well maintained, especially the pool area, spa and a very well equipped gym. The breakfast in a lovely setting overlooking the Ping river is first class with a wide variety of hot and cold food to suit all tastes.
Review 105:The rooms were entirely too dark. Even during the daytime. I had trouble walking around in the room and even shaving. The hotel needs to get to the guests the option of setting the amount of light in the room/suites
Review 106:The horizon club perks were good. I enjoyed the evening cocktails and canopies as they were excellent. The location was good. Liked having a balcony. The bed was good. The free Internet worked very well. The suite had a nice size shower.
Review 107:Wifi signal is a bit weak sometimes.
Review 108:Really beautiful hotel. It's definitely a special place in chiang mai. Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful.
Review 109:lighting is so dim that you'll need a flash light in the night...bed is too small and mattress too soft, if the hotel would like to attract more Chinese guests, I'd suggest they add some harder mattress choices.
Review 110:chic minimalism design and food quality/price (except for insanely high breakfast price during Chinese Spring festival)
Review 111:The lighting in both the room and the bathroom was much, much too dim and no way to get enough light when we wanted it. Very hard to see myself in the mirror to apply makeup, etc. So frustrating! Otherwise, it was a lovely room.
Review 112:gorgeous, lovely hotel and accommodations and food and staff with a great location. Feels like a wonderful retreat right in the heart of Chiang Mai and easily accessible to the heart of the city.
Review 113:A nagging feeling that the rooms need updating soon. Stress that they're fine for now though
Review 114:Our favourite hotel anywhere and worth the price in our case for the treat Every detail of staff, facilities, service pitched with class and subtlety, yet all very friendly. Just at the edge of town but an easy walk to everywhere with an unmatchable river setting
Review 115:The mosquitos - they tend to settle on the couches at the lobby and veranda. The hotel should do something about them (e.g. change the couch material).
Review 116:Excellent service. Staff are very attentive and helpful. Relaxing atmosphere.
Review 117:We wanted to enjoy spa facilities and treatment but the spa here was way too expensive. Found many fantastic places outside of the Anantara at much lower prices like The Peak and Cheeva Spa. But kudos to Anantara staff for arranging for us treatments at their rival spas without hesitation. Breakfast was great, not as wide as maybe at the Shangri-La but carefully and tastefully prepared. However, it was exactly the same every day of the 3 days we were there. Except for some changes to the fresh fruits.
Review 118:The club room with all the perks was fantastic - free airport transfer in a limousine, free mini bar, free daily laundry, private check-in and out and the tireless, friendly and helpful staff who accommodated all our requests and questions. Very peaceful and serene ambience great for unwinding though a little too quiet for those wanting a bit more action. Green surroundings easy on the eye and the décor reminiscent of old British colonial times with a Balinese touch. After all, it was once used as the premises of the British Consulate in past times.
Review 119:The spacious room with view to the river, the large swimming pool, the club lounge and most of all the very helpful and efficient staff. Special thanks to Joy from the Club Lounge who helped us choose and book our trips - couldn't have done it without him! The new general manager was always there to meet and greet the guests and to make sure that they were well looked after. Thank you, Nick for all your help and advice! Hope to come again soon and spend longer at this lovely hotel.
Review 120:Should have a bench or chair at the area between 2 main doors so that guests could sit and put on their shoes. The gym staff are friendly and forthcoming except for the gym instructor who looks glum all the time.
Review 121:Your front desk staff Pui is very helpful and friendly. Always display a pleasing personality. She is an asset to the hotel.
Review 122:the price is not that attractive compared to other hotels in Chiangmai, but I would choose staying there if I go there again.
Review 123:I stayed 3 nights there, very relex.
Review 124:Probably one of the most beautiful hotels I have stayed in my life, wonderful staff, wonderful architectural style, food unbelievably amazing! I would definitively come back to this hotel !
The Fine Print
Please note that extra bed is only available for Club Suite.
