Reviews for P.P. Palmtree Resort

Review 1:There was no wifi signal in the room. They were a bit stingy with the shampoo and soap, we stayed 3 nights and they didn't refill even once. Some rooms could be very noisy due to the party going on at the pubs.

Review 2:The hotel is located near the Tonsai pier so you won't need to take and extra boat. If you want to visit different restaurants and enjoy the nightlife this is the spot for you. It was really cool to hang around the pool after a day at the beach.

Review 3:No irons in rooms, not enough sun beds around the pool, staff where miserable but not rude like other reviews. No gym as stated in write up on booking.com. The noise from the bars. The hotel did not read the requirements from booking.com, even though we booked our room in August !!! The room was really small and no real balcony like the other rooms.

Review 4:I loved it was a non smoking resort, they collected our bags from the boat. We asked for a top floor room and they gave us a second floor one but was happy to change it for us.

Review 5:The view was terrible, I think we possibly had the worst view in he hotel and was literally facing a wall, however its a few minutes from the fantastic beaches of phi phi. Small niggle, the hotel can actually be a little difficult to find (especially after a drink or 2), the sign and entrance are set back from the pathway so you need to be aware of where you are going.

Review 6:Fantastic location, central and amidst all the action without being too close or noisy. Staff seemed friendly and helpful enough. Nice swim up bar.

Review 7:Shower was always changing from cold to hot during taking the shower! The ac was directly blowing in the head b/c above the bed!

Review 8:Location was good. In the night you had always until 2am the loud music, but was okay! The breakfast buffet was nice!

Review 9:If you need to call they dont have phone... Bangkok airlines left my luggage in bangkok and they didnt have a phone to ask for the situation update... A very nice girl from the staff made the phone call from her personal mobile phone.

Review 10:Our room with direct acess to the pool. Friendly staff. Good breakfast. Near everything, food, shops, dive operators.

Review 11:If you are looking for partying the location is perfect. The island has been transformed into a clubbing tourist area (which we didn't like) and the central area is where all the parties are. That means noise until 2am. Our room was next to a club and we had to move to be able to sleep. If you are looking for beach and relax you will have to move away from the main town to a resort.

Review 12:Staff was very friendly and helpful, we needed to change room because of the noise and they helped as much as they could. The rooms were clean, a very nice place

Review 13:Reception lady wasn't very welcoming. On the morning of our departure, we asked some questions about our ferry ticket to Krabi, and whether she could ring our Krabi hotel to find out transport options. She bluntly told us that the telephone didn't dial externally. When we asked the porter 5 minutes later, he promptly took out his mobile and gave them a call and was very helpful, despite limited English. Room wise, the plumbing probably needs an update - our toilet was very noisy throughout the night. Air con in the room either blasts cold air, or nothing. Shower head is mounted way too high, with no adjustment available, and the water temperature would fluctuate from cold to warm and back (but not a huge problem given it was so hot)

Review 14:Good location, set back from the pubs and clubs. Basic but served our needs for a one night stay. Good breakfast selection. Very friendly and accommodating porter who took our luggage to the port (on our arrival he offered to take our luggage but would first have to wait for the next ferry before returning to the hotel, so we opted to walk there with our luggage ourselves).

Review 15:Hotel has a very strict policy on non-guests being on the hotel grounds. They can't go any further than the lobby. Frustrating when travelling with friends who are staying in other accommodation and wanting to socialise in the room. Even hotel guests are questioned if they are staying here etc when venturing through the lobby. Very unwelcoming atmosphere. Swim up bar in the pool closed. You do have complimentary access to a fitness centre, but this is not on the hotel grounds, and around a five minute walk away. Shower water temperature flicks between hot and cold on its own accord.

Review 16:Location Room with pool access

Review 17:The location is perfect, in the middle of everything: stores, restaurants, diving clubs, and 5 minutes walking from the beaches. Breakfast was good and the front desk ladies were always smiling and willing to help.

Review 18:Wifi stopped working for a bit, but it was fixed pretty fast after informing the staff.

Review 19:Staff was extremely friendly and helpful! The location is great. It's right in the middle. Everything is close and its relatively quiet at the same time (comparing to other hotels). Very clean and comfortable.

Review 20:Slow service charging cridt card wifi is Terrible Air conditioning and shor not well

Review 21:Comfort Designs Reasonable amount the gym far but it is very amazing

Review 22:The staff was too rude, Chang the person at reception almost shouted at me once.Only when told him that he is not suppose to talk and if he knows how to deal with customer he stopped. WiFi stop working sometimes. Rooms are smelly as seems too old and too expensive as compared to what it has to offer.

Review 23:Just location is good

Review 24:The young receptionist checking us in was rude, unfriendly and started our 4 night stay on Phi Phi island on a real low. Didn't greet us or smile and went straight into the payment, when the credit card machine didn't work it was automatically our fault and we were instructed to get money from the ATM which didn't suit us and gave her an alternative to paying cash one night and trying the credit card the next day but that was not allowed, eventually she found someone to fix it and the payment was processed. The next couple of days were really awkward, she didn't smile or greet us and we felt like unwanted guests. Also having to hand in your towels by 8pm otherwise you would be charged was like being at school.

Review 25:The location was great, so easy to walk to restaurants and the pier and easy to walk to the beach as well. The pool access room was really nice, definetly recommend this room.

Review 26:staff is extremely rude, was promised a buffet breakfast - instead received egg on a piece of toast? ALSO , toilet didnt work and flooded the entire room, when asked the staff to change my room they were swearing at me and telling me to wait in the toilet smelling room. worst experience of my life.

Review 27:absolutely nothing

Review 28:Very unfriendly staff. Had to beg the front desk for a bottle of water when I was quite sick. Very, very rude front desk staff. Was questioned about a missing spoon upon checkout (really?). Pool bar had no bar serving drinks just an amity gazebo. A very bad hotel experience among many great experiences in Thailand.

Review 29:Clean, comfortable.

Review 30:Relatively expensive to other places in Phi Phi.

Review 31:Great location, nice pool, good room and excellent shower, free wifi, friendly staff, good buffet breakfast with many options.

Review 32:The location was good in the middle of Phi Phi . The first room we had was quite noisy at night with the nearby bar noise. It wasn't too bad but we were able to move to another room on another quadrant and this was much better. Pool was lovely, clean and welcome after the heat of the day.

Review 33:We were supposed to stay for 3 nights but ran away as soon as possible. The place smells as an old abandoned cheap motel, for which you wouldnt pay more than 20 dollars per night. The stuff (that was composed of one unplesant worker at the reception) was a joke. We paid for pool exit room but got a room without an access to the pool. Everything in this room was old and smelly and i didnt want to touch anything or to shower in their disguasting shower. Because of the policy of the place we couldnt leave without paying for the first night, so we stayed just until we found a nice place to go (amazing isolated resort) we advise everyone to stay away of the centrr of the island and go to the more isolated amazing places. .

Review 34:Central location was the only good thing about this place

Review 35:We arrived to palmtree and from the moment we entered the room we saw bugs on the bad!!. When we complained to the staff in the reception which "suddenly" did not understand english, they offered us to change the room. We accepted the offer and entered to other room. Guess what again bugs, bugs and bugs EVERYWHERE.

Review 36:Nothing

Review 37:The wifi was free but it kept disconnecting and sometimes having to log back in again. Breakfast was ok not many choices.

Review 38:The location was good as close to everything but far enough away from the noise.

Review 39:No smoking in the structure, even in open spaces. This means you can't virtually smoke on the balconies or front pool as we were. Crazy. Cleaning ladies very helpful but rest of the staff not friendly. Not much services offered at the reception desk, so I wouldn't call this a resort but just an ok hotel. Payment in advance - 3% charge if you pay with credit card.

Review 40:Great location If you want to be one in the crowds of Ton Sai. 5 mins from the pier where they pick you up upon arrival. Even If right in the center and well connected to party venues and shopping streets you can't hear a sound in your room - this was so wow considered that sounds travels easily on the sea so all the locations along the shore would be affected by late party sounds. Room was clean. Worth it to book a room on the pool - private pool access really nice and pool open till 10pm.

Review 41:Bathroom a little old and tired, in need of remodelling

Review 42:Convenient location near the port, main beach and shops and restaurants all easy walking distance. Rooms fairly quiet despite proximity to the party area.

Review 43:1 We spend more than 1.5 hour can not check in becase they refused us pay by caedit card(as terms allowed) instead of asking whole payment by cash. And do not wanna offer any help. 2 Also a female staff very rude with very bad attudie whole check in process, yelling at me . 3 Room quite old with poor wifi, not value at all for price around 100 euro per night

Review 44:location quite okey, but phi phi is a small place

Review 45:Breakfast not very good. Smokers have to go outside of the hotel you can't even smoke on your balcony. A lot of stray cats about.

Review 46:Good staff and location. Pool area lovely and clean.

Review 47:The beds where like sleeping on planks of wood. Pool was murky. Only 7 or 8 pool beds. The wifi did not work at all in the rooms, only worked in one spot in reception. DO NOT STAY at this hotel if you are a smoker, you are not even aloud to smoke on your own balcony which we reaso see after we were yelled at (quite rudely and went on for an unnecessarily long time). It was not very clear on the website that you couldn't smoke ANYWHERE in the hotel. We were also probably the only hotel in phi phi that did not pick you up from the boat port so we have to lug all of our luggage from the port not knowing where we were going in about 38degree heat and once we got to the hotel we had to take our bags to our room (I've been to Thailand many times and this was the first time I had to do that). I would not stay here again.

Review 48:The omlettes at breakfast where really good!! And the lady who cooking them was lovely. There was good shower pressure

Review 49:- Not the hotel for those looking for sea view. - There was a bit noise on the street at night, however this did not bother our night sleep. Our room was well isolated (you could not here anything when the door was closed to the corridor).

Review 50:- The staff was nice and helpful. At arrival they met us down the pier and carried our luggage to the hotel. - If you prefer living in centrum this is the place for you. It is close to everything from here. - Cosy and clean rooms

Review 51:The Wifi is very slow, you can only use whatsapp or imessage. The breakfast is ok, but nothing special, it's better to eat outside the resort.

Review 52:The location is great, from what we've saw, this is probably the 2nd best hotel in the town of Phi Phi Don. The pool is great and the services are very good.

Review 53:The noise coming from the fire dance show on the beach (9pm-4am).

Review 54:The hotel is comfortable and well located. The employee, called Mike, was very kind and helpfull!

Review 55:Non cooperative front desk staf. They really dont care if you are facing some problem.. HORIBLE wifi comnection...they should from the beggining say that there is no internet in the room. I know that it seems that all phi phi hotels have staff problems, but in this one they are really not trying to improve

Review 56:The location is close enough to the pier and njghtlife, and far enough from the noise. Good room, clean, and good pool. The ladie that prepare the eggs and the cleaning staff are lovely.

Review 57:No beach towels in the room, had to go to reception each time and give room info and then return the towels by a certain time each night. Just seemed like an unnecessary thing to do.

Review 58:The location was central to everything, you could walk 5 mins to get to the beach one way, then walk 5 mins to get to the warf the other way. Breakfast was good, although the same every morning

Review 59:Nothing! Some people may not like the noise of the late bars that are very near by.

Review 60:Very handy for all that is going on. Nice pool. Clean rooms. Helpful staff.

Review 61:Poor internet and WiFi connection. Intermittent

Review 62:Was in a good location not too far from the Pier but away from all the noise. Felt safe and comfortable there. 5 minute walk to the beach

Review 63:The receptionists dont speak a good english and sometimes talking with them can be confused. At night you can hear party music from the bars outside..

Review 64:The pool is very cool, room are quite nice. Breakfast is good and fresh.

Review 65:Staff at the front desk do not speak much english. They are also very strict with lost room keys or towels. My friend lost his towel and they charged 350 baht. Very outrageous.

Review 66:The location is central and walking distance to nightlife. They also give you a free pass to a nice gym near by.

Review 67:breakfast a little bit poor but ok. wifi was very unstable and the electricity were gone sometimes, but not a big deal.

Review 68:location was really good. the room had access to the swimming pool with a small terrace for us. was really nice. one guy came with a trolley to the port when we arrived and carried our luggage. when we left was the same.

Review 69:We were away for the whole afternoon, but there was no room service. When I complained they said the room service hours were over. The next day at check out when i complained the staff was incredibly rude and affirmed we rejected room service. When I asked for the manager the recptionist said there was no manager and continued to be very rude. An unexpected situation in a hotel that costs more than 150 dollars.

Review 70:Despite being right in the middle of the village, the noise of the beach parties doesnt come through. Nice decoration in the room and nice shower.

Review 71:The staff's attitude is not so warm, they never smile. But they are helpful. The breakfast is so poor, not so much choices.

Review 72:The hotel is so so, i booked the room with pool access, its nice view, good location.

Review 73:Beds and pillows were hard as a rock. Rooms are nothing special.

Review 74:This was a good location without being on the beach. Hotel was clean and breakfast was good. Nice pool area.

Review 75:Stiff bed. No elevator. Alot of noise from near clubs and do not pickyou up from the pier unlike .other hotels which is annoying

Review 76:Very nice pool and breakfast. Big rooms with all you need in them. Veryclose to the good bars.

Review 77:the staff's attitude is not so warm and she didn't tell us anything about the wifi. We thought that the wifi is not free. However, when we checked out the next day, I saw the wifi notification on the front desk. There is free wifi. The most annoying thing is, there is too much noisy at night, loud pub music. I cann't fall asleep with so much noise. The room I like very much, but the location is not so good.

Review 78:good place and nice environment. room is clean and featured with thailand style. With a balcony which can see the swimming pool, really nice.

Review 79:The room is old fashioned, some of the team does not smile enough or at all, WiFi is really unstable and weak

Review 80:Swimming pool is nice and welcoming, room is clean, luggage kept for few hours free of charge, breakfast was satisfying yet humble.

Review 81:Poolside room, location was nice and central, very clean, staff were very friendly. Price is higher than most and could do with being a little cheaper. Really pleased and by the far the best place for our budget to stay at.

Review 82:The bathroom was in need of modernization, the bed was a little hard, and it was really noisy in our bedroom due to the bars outside when we were trying to go to sleep - but this only lasted until around 1am so not a problem if you are out partying too!

Review 83:The pool area was really good, the location was great, and the breakfast was nice.

Review 84:1. Staff is really not nice and rude 2. Breakfast is terrible 3. They don't give you more than one towel and more than one (little) soap for day)

Review 85:Beds were hard and again only 1 pillow. It seems the more expensive the room the less comfy the beds get. Charged for extra pillows and as we already paid €110 for 1 night i dont think an extra pillow is too much to ask for.

Review 86:Location was great and took a room over the pool which was nice.

Review 87:The bed was too firm for my boyfriend but I was fine. Softer pillows were available in the closet.

Review 88:Staff was very helpful. Hotel is a 5 minute walk from the pier. Staff is available to carry your luggage from and to your ferry transfer. You may want to notify the hotel ahead of time so you know who and where to look for them. At the time of booking, we wanted a poolside room but only twin beds were available. We requested a double and early check-in. We received a king and our room was ready at 10:30am! The poolside room is definitely worth the extra $20. We loved the location because it was in the heart of town. We had no issues of hearing late night music or people. When the weather decided to pour rain for a couple hours, we walked around the corner for a 2-hour Thai massage or to one of the local bars for drinks. We needed a voucher printed for our ferry transfer to the next destination and the front desk was able to get that done for us in a couple hours. Previous reviews mentioned you must use a safe in hotel lobby to lock up valuables but our room had a safe. Enjoyed the more traditional Thai decor in our room. Front desk warned us wifi may be spotty but we had no problems connecting during our stay. Look forward to coming back!

Review 89:The room was only cleaned after we asked a few times but that seems quite normal from our experience in Thailand. There's a fairly loud bar nearby which you can hear if you go to bed before 1am

Review 90:Clean room, very central location. Helpful staff. Would go again

Review 91:Some nights you can hear music going way into the early hours of the morning from the surrounding pubs etc... In saying that it didn't bother us that much.

Review 92:Its pretty central to everything , nice breakfast and a big room with a balcony . Free water and coffee making facilities and nice clean hotel with a very pleasant atmosphere .

Review 93:We found the room a bit expensive for what you get. The wifi completely didn't work (due to heavy raining). We asked for a quiet room but at night there were drunk people talking in front of our room. I guess this was not the hotel's fault, but they didn't make them go away either. The first night our night rest was good though. Breakfast was not so nice, too unhealthy (sweets, white bread and a lot of meat).

Review 94:Good location in the middle of Tonsai village. Nice big comfortable bed with a quiet AC.

Review 95:Staff should be more conversant in English as this is an international language, however, they did try their best and were most helpful

Review 96:The location is superb - close to pier, clubs, restaurants etc. The staff were really helpful and friendly and the accommodation was very neat, comfortable and clean.

Review 97:it is difficult to find anything t mention that I did not enjoy. If you are not hyper critical this hotel will offer you close to a 5 star experience.

Review 98:I booked a room with pool access and this was a real winner in the warm weather. It made a difference to have the pool right there. If you enjoy coming back to your room in the early afternoon before you go out again, it is a welcoming treat. The rooms were spacious and magnificently decorated. The light control remote set next to your bed was a pleasant surprise. The bed was big and comfortable with good linen. The shower and bathroom facilities are neat and the standard is high. The location is nice and central and all directions the island can be easily accessed.

Review 99:We went to to hotel to have fun and it does have a potential but the hotel staff is so unplasent, asking for tips all the time and if you tell them to stop they are saying to you to get your own staf when you check out, not changing the beach towls twice a day and if you want it cost extra money. I will not go back e

Review 100:Only the location but it is not worth it

Review 101:Their eftpos machine was broken when we got there and they insisted on the whole amount for 3 nights in cash immediately when we wanted to pay just the first night as that's what we had on us at the time. That left a sour taste in my mouth. This hotel is average at best, do yourself a favour and spend your money elsewhere!

Review 102:Awesome location. In amongst all the shops, resteraunts and nightclubs. But couldn't hear a peep of noise once inside the room. We had a pool room - totally worth it. The pool was beautiful with a swim up bar. Breakfast was decent. The staff weren't overly friendly and helpful, but they weren't rude or anything. Very happy with our choice and would definitely stay here again!

Review 103:We had a poolside room which we loved. Breakky was the standard Thai hotel buffet. On phi phi, there are lots of very average accommodation places so we think this place is perfect. It's not very big either so not too busy.

Review 104:On reaching the pier the bellboy told us to go on ourselves even though other hotels were assisting customers with their luggage. A couple checked in before us who didnt have a booking for the same package/room type etc and it cost them 2000 baht less, the reception explained it was cause we had booked our room (which we had only done the day before) ???? Staff very unfriendly no interaction, just looked customers up and done. No information nothing. Breakfast was poor. Room to small for price. Housekeeping came once at 0800 then one day at 11 the other days not at all...

Review 105:Stayed four nights from the 10-14 August on the beautiful phi phi island. The pool and area around it was nice. Although in the shade from 3pm. Amazing restaurant less than 3mins away called papaya...

Review 106:Nothing but it's a bit dear for a three star.

Review 107:Nice pool Authentic Asian design Great location 5 min walk from harbour and to all the nightlife. Lovely restaurants just outside the hotel

Review 108:The price was too high for what you get, wifi wasn't very strong.

Review 109:The room was comfortable, the pool is very nice, breakfast was nice, staff is very kind.

Review 110:Nice place, located in the middle of island, so it easy to get on each side of the island. When we just came on phi phi island, there wear man on the pier from Palmtree, who met us, and show the way to the hotel. There are a lot bar and restaurants around hotel, it takes 2-3 min by walk. We took room with access to the sweeping pool, it was awesome, especially after hard and long trip. There is bar in the pool btw. Breakfast was good. We booked room just for one night, but than decided to stay for one more night! That was good and right decision.

Review 111:Nothing.

Review 112:Great location, close to everything. Loved the swimming pool. Really nice staff. The room was very clean. I would defenitely recommed this hotel!

Review 113:A fair few mosquitoes around the ground floor rooms

Review 114:Really good location and rooms... The breakfast was excellent also

Review 115:Good location. Nice pool and nice rooms.

Review 116:Didn't clean room, poor wifi , ignorant staff, cockroaches and mosquitoes everywhere would never go back

Review 117:nothing.

Review 118:- everything was amazing - staff very friendly

Review 119:Noisy neighbourhood

Review 120:Location

Review 121:Friendly staff

Review 122:strict rules. People not allowed over.. No exceptions. Musty smell, hard bed

Review 123:The shower switches between hot and cold.

Review 124:room,no wifi in room

Review 125:location

Review 126:I love how the staff are very friendly and hospitable.Very efficient room service.

Review 127:while taking a shower, the temprature of the water changes dramatically from cold to hot and backwards..

Review 128:very good staff, location, pool. recommended.

Review 129:The rooms are old, the beds were hard. We didn't like the breakfast, no WiFi.

Review 130:Nice small pool

Review 131:Internet was poor, it was like old fashioned dial up connection speeds.

Review 132:Location was great, very central.

Review 133:The wifi from the rooms is sometimes poor.

Review 134:Room, staff, location. Had great time in this hotel.

Review 135:Wifi has a variable quality (but I think the entire island has wifi problems).

Review 136:Excellent location. Great staff. Good accomodations.
