Reviews for 200 South Street Inn

Review 1:Homemade cookies on arrival, fresh fruit in the library, wine and cheese reception...healthy breakfast. The common room with fireplace was comfy and inviting!

Review 2:We weren't so keen on the very long and rather noisy goods trains which trundled past our window in the early hours of the morning.....!

Review 3:We arrived to discover cheese and wine being served in the library - very civilised! The staff go out of their way to make you feel welcome and it feels as though you are staying with friends. The house is beautiful and full of character, and just a minute's walk away from the lovely town centre.

Review 4:They can't do anything about the train. Good thing that trains are infrequent.

Review 5:Cordial employees and most accommodating. Speaking as someone who bakes, their homemade breakfast 'cakes' are terrific.

Review 6:There's no elevator, so try not to book a third floor room if this would be a problem

Review 7:The rooms were fun and interesting. Nice wine and cheese reception. Good breakfast, helpful and friendly staff

Review 8:Our initial room No 21 in the annex was VERY small & no drawer space. Cheese & wine a nice touch, great cheese but NO RED wine, very odd indeed.

Review 9:Once we moved to lovely room 8 in the main house our stay just got better. Super comfy bed. Great breakfast, especially the granola. Cookies all day too! Carolyn on reception made our stay, she was charming, genuinely friendly and so helpful, a great asset to the Inn. Lovely short walk to the many bars & restaurants.

Review 10:Nothing

Review 11:Carolyn checked us in & took us to our room. She didn't like the way the AC was working & switched us to another room. There was always something to drink in the library, cookies at the front desk & wine & snacks at 5PM. Lots of porch for people to sit on & meet other guests

Review 12:The bed was a little hard for my wife and my taste. But still slept OK.

Review 13:Amazing and helpful staff with great restaurant recommendations. Lovely old house in the perfect location.

Review 14:It'd be nice to have a carafe of coffee available for early risers.

Review 15:Not having stayed at a B&B in a long time, we enjoyed the uniqueness and homeyness of the South St. Inn. Location couldn't have been better

Review 16:Great atmosphere with friendly helpful staff. Interesting old building, every bedroom is different. Cheese and wine welcome is a lovely touch that helps you chill straight away!

Review 17:Not even complaints, but our original room's AC didn't work, but they quickly put us in another (bigger) room.

Review 18:Great house, a short walk away from downtown. Great staff. And great homemade cookies and macaroons :), which are great if you have late night snack needs.

Review 19:Since building is right next to the train tracks the cottage shook. The train passed by 4 times, the first at 6:30am. This is the only negative thing about the inn.

Review 20:Location was great to walk everywhere, felt very safe, all of the staff was so nice and helpful, very genuine.

Review 21:The bed wasn't my favorite, but it wasn't that bad either. That's about the only negative, as I really enjoyed the place.

Review 22:Great staff and a wonderful, unique B&B. Good breakfast...and cookies!

Review 23:We would prefer more protein for breakfast. The fare was generally geared to those with a sweet tooth. The train in the night is OK if you're not a light sleeper.

Review 24:Restaurants within walking distance in two directions. Great outdoor seating.

Review 25:- a very minor inconvenience: the heating system was pretty loud .. but we didn't care so much because we loved everything :)

Review 26:- pretty much everything: the room was lovely, the bed divine, and the little fireplace was a nice touch - breakfast was amazing; homemade baked goods (we loved the little library) - super well-located (a few minutes away from dt)

Review 27:The train was right there..Please give people a discount if you put them in the room next to the train tracks...not worth the price.. I'm sorry to say.

Review 28:The evening staff person was lovely and helpful. The beds were comfortable

Review 29:Train might be a little startling for some - but no big deal if you are used to DC or a major city.

Review 30:Awesome B&B! Can't beat location, staff friendliness and knowledge and perks of tasty wine, cheese and homemade breakfast treats.

Review 31:Dark, lugubrious room with Bates Motel memories. Didn't even stay the night and booked at The Boar's Head Inn immediately by simply picking up the phone. Glorious stay in this beautiful place at a very advantageous rate.

Review 32:Not much of anything

Review 33:The rooms, the staff, the location, and the smell of the cookies being baked. A step back in time in the very nicely renovated building with a rich colourful history.

Review 34:Upstairs rooms are a little dark. Breakfast was nice just missed hot foods.

Review 35:Great location. Very clean. Nice staff.

Review 36:Walls thin, train(s) a surprise
