Reviews for Oakhurst Inn
Review 1:It's a creaky noisy building. There is little insulation and the carpeting does little. We had someone above us walking around for an hour and when we changed rooms we were below the lounge with the nespresso machine running every minute. If you are a light sleeper don't stay here.
Review 2:Staff was great. We complained about noise and they tried offer a better room. Breakfast and coffee were super.
Review 3:Room was more like a college room than a hotel, old furniture and tiny TVs. VERY disappointed based on the VERY high cost per night.
Review 4:Location was great and service was very good
Review 5:No parking on site but quick valet so nott a real problem.
Review 6:Lovely welcome. Quirky property. Rooms good, all different. Spotlessly clean. Free soft drinks bar. Well located for UVA
Review 7:The room was smaller than expected, but fine for a one night stay. From the hotel's website, we thought it would offer a bit more luxury. The hotel includes two renovated houses, so there are common rooms in each, but not much opportunity to meet other guests.
Review 8:Conveniently located to the UVA campus, so walking to dinner was a plus. The staff is quite friendly and helpful. No street parking so our car was complimentary valet parked. The breakfast next door at the cafe was the best of our trip! Though not included in the room rate, it is reasonably priced and the food is first-rate.
Review 9:I basically got shoved in a basement room next to the maintenance closet that was heavily in use all weekend. It was way to expensive for the experience and room we received.
Review 10:The staff was super friendly and helpful. The grounds where lovely right by UVA campus.
Review 11:A lot of the rooms are very overlooked by surrounding buildings.
Review 12:Every thought has been put into your stay at this hotel. Very clean, well appointed bedrooms, if a little on the small side. Communal seating area with complimentary drinks and books available.
Review 13:For the price, breakfast should have been included but it was worth spending the extra money on excellent breakfast / brunch choices.
Review 14:Like a small apartment in a house. Located in a residential neighbor hood. We had our own entrance and that was very convenient. The rooms were very clean, perfectly sized, and the staff very friendly. The Oakhurst cafe in another building was wonderful with great food and a very relaxed atmosphere.
Review 15:The only downside is the lack of convenient parking, but the staff and their valet service more than make up for that!
Review 16:The staff of the Oakhurst Inn are very friendly and helpful. The location so close to the UVA campus is great with easy access into and out of town. But the Bacon and Gruyere Scones at the Cafe are like nothing else we have ever had; simply delicious!
Review 17:My husband and I needed a night away from the kids and the Oakhurst Inn delivered not only a break but a dose of relaxation as well! The rooms were nicely appointed and the staff was fantastic. We loved sitting near the old fireplace in the library sipping coffee. We will definitely return!
Review 18:Cold on the bottom floor. Old construction is quaint but sound carries.
Review 19:Interesting architecture. Well-done design and decor. Contemporary feel in traditional setting.
Review 20:When I did an internet search, Oakhurst was listed under a B&B. But breakfast was not included. The Oakhurst site did indicate that they serve breakfast to guests, but it's an "upgrade" on price. We had a room on the lower floor (in February) and there was a draft. I did not feel it on my side of the bed, but my husband did.
Review 21:The staff was fabulous...7-Star! We loved that they offered (free) cans of Sanpellegrino Italian sparking water for their guests. We were surprised to see that Oakhurts consisted of several historic homes in a row. I liked the bed and how impeccably clean the modern room was. I also liked that they had a hot water carat, so you could make coffee or tea in your room. I was very impressed with their website. Very "user friendly." Good job!!! We loved the amenities in the bathroom...a hairdryer that actually dried your hair (a long travel story)..and wonderful shampoo, etc. Very nice! We loved the central location to the University of Virginia campus and all the restaurants around.
Review 22:The only thing I didn't like was the bathroom was cold in the morning after a winter evening. Heated floors would have been nice.
Review 23:This hotel is unique and feels like a bed and breakfast but it's not. I love the reading room and fireplace. It was a nice surprise to come back in the evening and found turn down service with a cookie and water waiting. The staff were exceptional and made us feel very welcome.
Review 24:I had a wonderful stay at the Oakhurst Inn, and I would definitely recommend it to others! The location was great and the room was cozy and very clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
Review 25:*Limited amenities in the room (i.e. no body lotion) *Limited restaurant hours on premises
Review 26:*Location - literally across the street from the South Lawn *New property so everything is very fresh *Great staff *Love the free coffee and water
Review 27:Somewhat expensive and strangely breakfast was not included in what is essentially a B&B offering.
Review 28:Unusual properties with character in a quiet location. Excellent bathroom, and delightful communal lounge with newspapers and wide selection of books.
Review 29:There was no one at the desk when we arrived. I had to call a number that was left on the reception desk. Having just driven 7 hours and just popping in to the reception area to get my key, I was frustrated that I had to go back to the car to get my phone when what I would have liked was a warm, fuzzy hello.
Review 30:The location was ideal for everything we wanted to do in Cville. The room was nice, the bathroom very nice.
Review 31:Staff are amazing, could not do enough for us.
Review 32:Not enough light in room no bathtub!
Review 33:Extra friendly staff; newly renovated property; free espresso and sodas; one block from the free trolley stop.
Review 34:Location
Review 35:Excellent breakfast; convenient location; very helpful staff.
Review 36:The location is great and the room was quiet and very comfortable.
Review 37:Room small with little place to put much stuff
Review 38:Friendly and helpful staff
Review 39:No complimentary breakfast
Review 40:Easy check-in , friendly , helpful staff , beautiful decor and very clean Complimentary pellegrino water amd expresso
Review 41:Fire alarm, noise neighbor
Review 42:Location, staff
Review 43:Excellent staff, comfortable room, cozy library with coffee and tea service.
Review 44:Traffic noise.
Review 45:Very friendly accommodating staff. Good standard and very cozy.
Review 46:Nothing
Review 47:The decor was very fitting and comfortable. Love the European feel!
Review 48:Lack of furniture.
Review 49:Quiet place, very nice staff.
Review 50:Location was difficult with cars... Valet offer was fair though and it wasn't a major problem.
Review 51:Loved the furnishings and style.
Review 52:The comfort and beauty of the Oakhurst Inn make it a destination all on its own.
Review 53:Lack of self parking for car and lack of nearby convenient parking options. Overly ambitious breakfast menu tended to miss the mark. (Steel-cut oatmeal arrived at our table already laced with Tabasco!)
Review 54:The location, access to public transportation, cleanliness, Nespresso machine, friendly helpful staff
Review 55:Nothing! Loved it all.
Review 56:The hotel is absolutely lovely. The room was not huge, but it was perfectly fine. Loved the bathroom. Great breakfast and coffee. Very convenient to the campus and not too far to downtown. Definitely recommend if you like a B&B or boutique-type of hotel.
Review 57:Price was a little "steep".
Review 58:The "homey" feeling, and the location.
Review 59:Noisy, no parking, hard to find. Obviously used to be a dorm.
Review 60:Quaint and clean. Attractively decorated.
