Reviews for Zinciriye Hotel

Review 1:They gave us a room without any window and room was very dirty because of moisture on walls.Room door was next to public Wc and when u open door you were facing with wc rabbish bags and smells. Whole hotel was empty and when we asked to change room, their attitude wasnt good either. It was snowy weather and all steps were frozen . Mardin is an amazing city in all weather conditions except if you can choose right hotel. I tried to talk to hotel owners but they were very conservative about negavtive comments. Their approach is , if you book cheap room, u get this and this is normal .. It wasnt !!

Review 2:Hotel is located on main road and very close to all shooping area in old town.

Review 3:it's forbidden to drink alkohol in the hotel. breakfast wasnt good

Review 4:I liked the view and old historical building it's located. it was clean and comfy.

Review 5:Grumpy breakfast staff who refused to make Turkish coffee

Review 6:Location perfect - beautiful old building, in the middle of everything with restaurants close by and amazing views

Review 7:breakfast on Sunday from 7.00 till 10a.m., but on Monday only from 7-8 a.m (nobody informed us about it) . In the description of room which we have chosen was written, room is with a seating area, a washing machine, but there were not. In the hotel only a few rooms have a seating area, a washing machine none. There are also rooms without windows. In the front desk woman did not speak English.

Review 8:our room was very tiny, but with beautiful view. Mardin is worth to stay and the hotel is in very good location. There is car park not very far from the hotel, but diffucult to find. they. The did our laundry for free.

Review 9:Parking is a little difficult in Mardin old town.

Review 10:The hotel is in the middle of the old town in an old building with modern facilities. You have a nice view from there.

Review 11:We had a room next to reception area so we heard everyone checking in and out and it smelled like smoke from everyone smoking in the reception area all day and night. No windows in the bottom rooms and very damp and not well ventilated so the paint kept flaking off the ceilings on us.

Review 12:Location excellent, internet very good, room very spacious, nice terraces.

Review 13:Breakfast not so great, but we ate. Needs better presentation, serving and choices.

Review 14:Loved the location, views and staff. Our bellboy, Seymus, was great.

Review 15:the A/C didn't work but there was a big electric heater right upon the bed. there's no mini bar. the breakfast was acceptable but I was expecting for more

Review 16:room confort, great view from the terrace, nice staff. the location is great. everything was quite close and there's a dolmus stop right in front that you can use to connect to the otogar.

Review 17:Not very clean, tiny room, poor choice at breakfast, to make it short, I found it overpriced for what it offers apart from good location.

Review 18:Great location if you want to explore old Mardin.

Review 19:If you come with your one car, you have to park somewhere else (there is a parking lot some hundred meters along the main street), but I guess this affects nearly every Hotel in Mardin.

Review 20:This Hotel has the most beautiful building I renember. It is an old House with many stairs ans bridges just below the Zinciriye Medresi. The view from the terasse is stunning. The room size seems to differ very much. We had a very small one without a nice view, but it was however quite nice and offered anything needed. Breakfast buffet was good, staff spoke some english.

Review 21:My room was all vaulted ceilings, stone walls and arches. The sleeping area was distinguished from a very comfortable sitting area, where there was a divan. Tastefully furnished.

Review 22:Breakfast could be better.

Review 23:Hotel is situated in a perfect location. Rooms look exactly like on picture and the view from terrace is breathtaking. Staff doesn't speak fluent English, but communication is not a problem. Price is reasonable. If you're looking for a nice hotel in Mardin this one should match your needs.

Review 24:Some rooms are very small. Weak wifi conection in our room near reception. Loud music from the Konagi next to the hotel (life music every night, they stop at 12.00 PM). The staff did not clean the room every day; the second day we asked for it and even so they did'nt do it... We had to ask even for clean towels! The breakfast, that could easily be improved, is served in a relatively small and warm room (hot in August) and the aircon was not always on.

Review 25:Very good location up stairs between the main street and the Zinciriye Medresse. From the top terrasse you have beautifull views overlooking the Ulu Camii and the plains in one side and the Medresse in the other. Magnificent building with diferent kind of rooms: with or without windows, some small, some big enough... The room and the bathroom were clean. We had booked a doble twin room with a separate seating area consisting of a traditional sofa (sedir) but they show us a very small room. We clearly showed disappointed and finally they offered us a nice and confortable triple room near reception.

Review 26:For some travellers the number and steepness of steps both to and around the hotel might be an issue. Staff were more than willing to transport bags, however!

Review 27:The building is gorgeous and the rooms extremely comfortable; staff were welcoming and friendly, a good turkish breakfast and a great location. Highly recommend!

Review 28:Although everything was lovely, its not recommended for woman tourist especially who travel alone because night time reception guy seem to have wrong fantasy to foreign girls. It should be changed

Review 29:Good location , kind staff, lovely breakfast with beautiful view.

Review 30:While they serve snacks and drinks (and a buffet breakfast), there isn't a restaurant on site. Their location and view are so good, it would have been nice to have a full dinner service on the top terrasse. Also, if you have heavy bags, there are steep stairs from the street that you need to climb to reach the front door (although the staff is happy to help if you go and in ask!), but that just adds to the charm of this hotel.

Review 31:The staff were so friendly (young men and women who work hard and do everything they can to help you. There always seemed to be someone on hand who spoke English, which was so helpful. The location is right on the main street, but up stairs so it's not on ground level, and has multiple views overlooking the plains. Just stunning! I took breakfast every morning from the top terrasse – the view never got old. The rooms are exposed stone with high ceilings, making you feel like you're in a castle. The blue bus stops in front of the hotel and transportation is easy if you're comfortable on the dolmus and bus system.

Review 32:Some of the other staff members were less than helpful. For example, we asked about eggs and yogurt for breakfast, but the man seeing to the breakfast said no eggs, no yogurt. End of conversation. However, I knew better and asked someone else, and within minutes we had lovely scrambled eggs and yogurt. Furthermore, the woman at the desk when we checked out was not only ignorant of public transportation options but actually told us something untrue. When I asked about the minibus options to go to Sanliurfa (the exact route which I'd done before only 6 months earlier), she insisted there were no minibuses. I finally realized that she was only thinking about minibuses from old Mardin to Urfa, but when I clarified and asked about minibuses from new Mardin (which is where the minibuses in the town leave from), she also insisted that there were none and seemed unwilling to look into this any further. This was very frustrating, as I as the foreign traveler was expecting help from her and knew from experience that there are plenty of minibuses traveling that route. At the very least she could have asked other staff members for more information instead of simply saying there weren't any and acting like the conversation was done. I finally sought out Mr. X (the wonderfully helpful staff member), and of course he explained all the different minibuses available. I was very frustrated that the front desk person, who is responsible for helping guests and promoting a friendly image of the hotel, was both ignorant of the transportation options and unwilling to change her mind So, to Zinciriye Hotel, you have an incredibly beautiful place, but some of your staff members need serious customer service training in order to make it a truly fantastic experience.

Review 33:Cute boutique hotel right in the heart of old Mardin. Restaurants and shops are steps away, and the bus stops just meters from the door. Comfortable beds with wonderfully clean white sheets. When we arrived, the man at the front desk was expecting us and made us feel very welcomed. We also received incredibly great service from Mr. X (can't remember his name; perhaps begins with an S?) who did his best to solve every problem and help us find what we needed. He was the only staff member who spoke English on the day we checked out, so he was very helpful. Thanks, friendly Mr. X! You made our stay fantastic!

Review 34:wonderfully renovated stone building in a great location.

Review 35:People working there not interested in clients comfort. Breakfast too poor. Too much money for the poor quality of the facilities

Review 36:Very clean and friendly. Nice place with very good localization and host take care about the guests.

Review 37:I enjoyed my stay

Review 38:Friendly staff Central location Great views over the mesopotamia plains

Review 39:The photos are a bit misleading.

Review 40:Location

Review 41:No window to the outside in our room. Not described in Booking.com so came as a surprise.

Review 42:Location and great view. Good breakfast on the terrace.

Review 43:Schedule for breakfast is rather tight (1 hour).

Review 44:Welcoming staff on arrival. Very well located. Outstanding atmosphere and architecture.

Review 45:The bathroom and the breakfast could have been much better...

Review 46:The architecture of the hotel, location, very kind staff

Review 47:Staff and location were excellent and friendly. If I visit again Mardin, I definitely can stay in Zinciriye Hotel..

Review 48:Very poor Wifi because of thick stone walls. Otherwise wonderful.

Review 49:Timeless and comfortable rooms in a gorgeous, historical stone masonry building.

Review 50:Small Hot Friendly

Review 51:It was a clean and centrally located hotel.

Review 52:The central location, the architecture of the building and the helpfulness of the staff

Review 53:boutique hotel with flair friendly staff central location

Review 54:due to the old walls and because the room Bad no Windows it had a slight mouldish smell.

Review 55:beautiful house, scenic view, very nice room

Review 56:Beautiful views from terrace. V comfortable bed.

Review 57:Breakfast wAs poor and staff completely neglected this moment.

Review 58:Excellent rooms, excellent position for an excellent view!

Review 59:We stayed at 301 the room was small but i think thats becouse its an old house.

Review 60:Cleaning was good, hotels view is amazing. Mardin people loves to see this view at night because they think that it looks like sea.

Review 61:It depends on the kind of room you will get. We spent there two nights in two different rooms - one was excellent but in the other close to the reception (a cheaper option) there was a lot of moisture (mold).

Review 62:The staff were either friendly or very friendly and helpful Breakfast was very good, with lots of variety A very good location - close to the old town, a beautiful view from the top terrace, rooms were arranged in old historic chambers

Review 63:WiFi didn't work in our room (114). Breakfast was very expensive (28 Euro). Couldn't turn off the aircon unit.

Review 64:Staff were nice for the most part. Room was clean and the spa/fitness facilities were fantastic. Airport shuttle is convenient.

Review 65:Staff were chatting everywhere, even at morning and around rooms. Foods were not fresh at the breakfast (esp. eggs). Inside of the room was careless. Stairs may create a problem for some guests.

Review 66:Central location is a great advantage. Worth to go up to the panoramic terrace.

Review 67:too many stairs :)

Review 68:Terrace is perfect to watch beautiful scene of mesopotamian soil.. Also they prepare delicious open buffet breakfasts.. Highly recommended..

Review 69:Our room was very tiny. Also, as mentioned in other reviews, there are alot of steps involved in reaching the hotel from the street and thenmore stairs within the hotel.

Review 70:Hotel definitely has character. The views from the terraces arestunning. Centrally located in old Mardin's downtown. Woulddefinitely choose this hotel again

Review 71:Not great staff. The terraces of the hotel can be used as a cafe by the customers but sometimes there is no waiter to serve a drink.

Review 72:Great location. The hotel is architecturally very nice. Authentic building. Have two terraces with incredible view. Best you can get in town. Hotel can book you for an excellent one day tour around Mardin - strongly recommended.

Review 73:We only had one problem and that was the showers. The water took a long time to run out and our showers had to be short and sweet. We could not both shower directly after each other. One would have to shower in the morning and the other in the evening to avoid a flooding.

Review 74:The staff were outstanding! This is really what made our stay so enjoyable! Especially the night manager Halil who went out of his way to make our stay memorable. He spoke excellent English and was very informative about Mardin. We enjoyed our stay! The view was amazing! The breakfast was good too. We loved the big entertainment room with pillows and carpets. There was always tea and good coffee available all the time!

Review 75:We had no wifi reception in our room (room 204) although it was advertised. Painting parts fell down from the ceiling on the beds, in the suitcases etc.

Review 76:Very central location with parking possibilities. Staff at reception was a little bit reserved, but other staff very friendly. Nice views over town. Rooms are very atmospheric. Breakfast buffet is good.

Review 77:too many steps to get to the hotel and to the rooms. Not recommended for people with leg problems or elderly people. The room was not cleaned every day, but only on request....

Review 78:very central. Fantastic view from the terrace. Charming old building. Friendly staff.

Review 79:Although there is a view, you have to look over the water tanks and rubble-strewn rooftops of the houses in front of you to see the Syrian plains beyond. I wish the owners could negotiate with their neighbors to make their rooftops neater and more attractive.

Review 80:Lovely boutique hotel! Very tastefully designed and decorated. Bed was super comfy, and the water was hot. Easy to find and located just off the main street in the old town. Yes, there are a few stairs, but nothing so bad as other reviewers say. No more than a normal 3-story house would have. I asked for a room with a view and was given one. Top rooms at the front have views over the old town to the Syrian plain. Breakfast was a standard hotel buffet--5 choices of cheese, olives, meats, boiled eggs, 4 kinds of breads, hot drinks, juice, vegetables and fruits, etc. Eat on the balcony--the view is lovely!

Review 81:I did not like the noise level of the sira geceler (Music Nights) in the neighboring restaurant. It's really disturbing if you want a quiet evening in Your room.

Review 82:In overall I had a pleasant stay at the hotel.

Review 83:- charming building - scenic views of the great Mesopotamian plain - The Zinciriye Madrasa in immediate vicinity of the hotel - very welcoming staff

Review 84:Probably the best hotel I have ever been! Excellent location in the old town, close to the main street. Very friendly staff at the reception. Good Turkish breakfast served on the top floor with great Mesopotamia valley view. In brief, you just feel like you are at home in this hotel. Rooms were big and clean with Air Condition. I would return there again in the future and would recommend the hotel to others.

Review 85:Wifi reception erratic Some food left by previous visitors still in fridge.

Review 86:Great location - roof terrace Spectacular views Relaxed, helpful, friendly staff Stylish, classy rooms

Review 87:We did not like leaving this lovely hotel

Review 88:The room we had was spacious, comfortable and well appointed with bbcnews to keep us up to date. The view from adjoining balcony over theSyrian plains was breathtaking.

Review 89:Extremely noisy live music from the next courtyard till mid night. Rooms are a bit small though okay for a couple.

Review 90:Excellent location with a charming view. Very friendly staff.

Review 91:A bit overhyped as rooms and food are of mediocre quality, not five-star.

Review 92:An extraordinary historic site with a most courteous and solicitous staff. The location is unbeatable. Rates when I stayed were very reasonable.

Review 93:We had a two night stay in hotel Zinciriye in mardin. And it was a verynice experience. The staff is polite, friendly and yet professional, too. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Hotel is located in a veryconvenient place, in the middle of the old town. It is surrounded withhistory. The view of the terrace is spectacular, it makes you feel youare on the edge of an ocean.highly recommended.

Review 94:No real complaınts, tho' the bathroom was a bıt tacky and aırlessand the bedroom was a bıt basıc - though you'd really stay at theZıncırıye for the locatıon and vıew, not facılıtıes ın room.

Review 95:The hotel ıs very well located ın the centre of Mardın's maınstreet. I was gıven an excellent room wıth a great outlook over theMesopotamıan plaın - too bad there was a thıck haze! Decent buffetbreakfast. The staff are very frıendly and welcomıng - glass of tea andplate of fruıt on arrıval was a nıce touch. Also helpful wıth advıce reexcursıons from Mardın, how to reach Otogar and so on. Fantastıcrestaurant, the Cercıs, ıs a fıve mınute walk away - best meze ınEastern Turkey, I'd say!

Review 96:Our room was very small actually the smalest room because I wanted a room with view. It was the only one room with view that they told me. If you don't choose view you can stay in a very big room which has a small living room part too (We saw other rooms too before living).

Review 97:It is in the city center at the back of main walking and shopping road. It is an old big traditianol Mardin house. Breakfast was normal. Staff was so nice like all Mardin people. The best thing about the hotel is view from the terrace and also it was in the city center. If you make shopping and want to put them in hotel it takes only 1 minute.

Review 98:Very nice hotel, good staff and cental location!!

Review 99:There was very very big noice from the neighbour restorants. İt is very very to sleep

Review 100:The breakfast is OK but can be better.

Review 101:The hotel is very central, the staff is professional and friendly.

Review 102:Nothing

Review 103:Excellent location, kind and helpful staff. Breakfast was rich.

Review 104:Staff is helpful. Manager upgraded us for part of our stay.

Review 105:Excellent and unique location - friendly and helpful staff. Recommended.

Review 106:Staffs are all kind and nice. The breakfase was excellent. And the interior of building is good too.

Review 107:Breakfast mainly consisted of cheese and bread. No butter, nojuice or water.

Review 108:Good location. Air-conditioned rooms.

Review 109:Breakfast must be improved.

Review 110:Location and staff are perfect

Review 111:Small room. Unpredictable water temperature.

Review 112:Rooftop terraces. Great for drinking local wine and enjoying the view.
