Reviews for Hyatt Regency Bethesda near Washington D.C.

Review 1:Parking attendant charged more for a validated ticket. He gave us astrange explanation but we were leaving the facility so we let it go.The other complaints are too numerous to list here. We completelydisliked this property.

Review 2:Staff was very nice, greeted us and made us feel welcome upon arrival.

Review 3:The hotel is dated and didn't seem very clean. The fake greenery in the balcony boxes is dusty, the comforter on our bed had spots on it, and the floor in the bathroom looked like it hadn't been swept under the sink, just in the open area that you could see immediately upon coming in.

Review 4:The desk staff was very friendly

Review 5:For a 4 star hotel and price: Old furnishing and facilities Poorly illuminated interior (corridors, main hall, room) Old carpet

Review 6:Great location next to Metro station

Review 7:Very tired looking room. Booked for a 4 person room but only given a small 3 person room.

Review 8:Helpful doormen, helpful reception staff. Good location for getting around DC as directly over the metro line.

Review 9:My stay was very unpleasant and problematic. Main issues: - Front Office couldn't find my reservation, done through Booking.com - Room was dirty and I had to complain twice to get it cleaned - I was woken up at half past midnight by a very loud hoover noise that went on for 45 minutes. They were doing the deep cleaning of the restaurant in the middle of the night!!! The staff had a very bad attitude and not was helpful at all.

Review 10:The hotel is conveniently located close to the Metro Station to Washington. Many restaurant and shops in the area.

Review 11:The room was adequate for my needs but the furniture was surprisingly old and tired looking. The handicapped shower was sloped in a way that it wasn't safe for me to go into it, despite all of the railings to hold onto.

Review 12:It was very convenient in downtown Bethesda and transportation was easily available.

Review 13:parking prices - we had to leave half way through our stay, and because we had parked for 25 1/2 hours, our bill was $22. Then we had to pay another $12 when we left the next day. If we had just left the car there, it would have only been $24. These fees are ridiculous.

Review 14:location

Review 15:The best receptionist, Malia, tried to settle our chaotic first night then gave us free upgrade to suite without additional charges for the rest 4 nights of our stay. Really great stay!!

Review 16:The breakfast waitstaff was rude and condesending. She made me feel bad about asking questions and made it seem like such an imposition my family and I were even there. It was a terrible experience.

Review 17:Everything was great, the pool was nice my children enjoyed it and the location was ideal. Rooms were very clean.

Review 18:Breakfast not included and no free coffee station.

Review 19:The location can't be beat. The Bethesda Metro Rail stop is located below the hotel. Elsa, the bartender, was outstanding. Joe, front desk worker, was also great!

Review 20:Amazing location right on the Metro- perfect for getting around DC but Bethesda was wonderful too! Hotel within walking distance of shops, restaurants- anything you need!

Review 21:I didn't realize the tax would be added on after I checked out - I thought I was just paying my bookings.com fee, which stated no hidden fees?

Review 22:I loved the comfort of the room, the closeness to the metro and the hotel staff particularly was amazing! Everyone from the bartenders at the daily grill (one particular vibrant young man...john? really took care of us and made me great specialty drinks and gave some of the best service I have seen in a while!!!) to the front door staff to the front desk were very accommodating. As my boyfriend was waiting for me to come to check-in, the front desk staff were chatting him up and they were so nice to us. Answered all of our questions. As someone who works in the hospitality field, I was thoroughly impressed with the experience. Go to the daily grill if you visit here!! And sit at the bar.

Review 23:Our first room had nonfunctioning A/C and while they tried to repair it, we had to move. Also the hotel is built around a huge atrium and there was considerable noise from events --even when we were on the 6th floor.

Review 24:Good location and pleasant staff.

Review 25:They only had one socket on the desk to plug in your computer. Had to use the one in the bathroom to charge my phone...

Review 26:The hotel was right near the Metro Station, so easy to get around.

Review 27:I didn't have a BAD experience, but the breakfast hostess did not possess (or demonstrate) the same level of professionalism, friendliness and helpfulness as the other staff.

Review 28:It started with a wonderful welcome from Miriam. Also really like the valet staff.

Review 29:Large inner area was noisy most of the evening with yelling and laughing that we could hear easily on the third floor. Walls were thin so we could hear next door. Went to restaurant/bar in the back and it smelled like bar cleaning detergent. Nothing for the dog even though we notified in advance.

Review 30:Close to the action.

Review 31:They told mr breakfast and internet is not included and i had to put sime time to get that included. If you book it online make sure the price includes both.

Review 32:Overall is a place i will go back.

Review 33:Bleach used to clean left an overpowering smell. Maid service was spotty; glasses were left dirty, trash under the table, bathroom was moldy(?) in shower. Furniture was worn and tired.

Review 34:Minor stuff - I like it very cool for sleeping and the A/C just wouldn't get all the way down to where I wanted. Also minor, had to go outside to access the elevator to the parking garage - can't get to the parking levels from the main lobby.

Review 35:Cleanliness of the whole facility and thoroughness of the housekeeping staff. The front desk staff was also really outgoing and pleasant.

Review 36:Our room was on first floor pretty much right over the lobby. This was only an issue around 6am when the lobby music started up each morning. Not a fan of the unavoidable parking garage charge either. The light blue lounge chair in my room was also so stained you would've thought you were staying at a motel 6 or Howard Johnson. Not the cleanliness I am used to from the Hyatt chain.

Review 37:Shower could've been more updated, very slow drain was irritating and hot water was tough to figure out. Seemed there was only one spot you could turn the faucet to to get at. Maybe it's only room 130

Review 38:the room was oddly shaped, paying for parking, having to use the elevator for 1 floor.

Review 39:the bed was very comfortable, and the location above the metro station was very convenient.

Review 40:Our flights were delayed/canceled and we had a horrible time getting to Bethesda from California. We arrived quite late but I had called ahead and told someone that was going to happen. When we arrived at 3:30AM after a frustrating day, the woman at the desk was very unpleasant and apparently had given away one of the rooms. She said we were "upgraded" but the room we got did not have 2 beds, which we needed. It was corrected the next day by the day staff.

Review 41:Location. Walking distance to my mother in law

Review 42:Cost of continental breakfast. No coffee available in the lobby. Rooms themselves rather dated- especially the bathroom- calking looks old and dirty.

Review 43:Good location with Metro right there. Many choices for meals within walking distance. Beds and pillow very comfortable. Housekeeping did great job!

Review 44:The hotel is looking old. My bed mattress really needs to be changed. I find the price I paid for the hotel expensive for such an old looking hotel. I would return to the hotel though.

Review 45:The location is excellent. There are a lot of restaurants a few blocks away. There's a metro station right next to the hotel. There's a parking lot underneath the hotel. There's free Wi-Fi and a small pool.

Review 46:The pool was closed from 10 until 5.

Review 47:Staff was friendly. Being next to the Metro was divine. Bethesda has lots of good restaurants within walking distance of the hotel property.

Review 48:lots of confusion over parking. we were never told that our parking ticket needed to be validated at the front desk for in and out privileges and were consequently overcharged for parking. i was at the front desk for check-in and asked about parking (where to go, etc) and this was NOT communicated to me at all. did not received a paper bill under my door the morning of check-out and received no explanation. never happened before to me.

Review 49:location. cleanliness. valet personnel very friendly and helpful even though we did not use valet.

Review 50:Still, a little pricey.

Review 51:The bed and bedding was very comfortable, especially with the six goose down pillows - very plush. Great water pressure in the shower. Great In-room coffee (starbucks, Verona).

Review 52:Curtain weren't wide enough to block out light from the street. Plumbing gurgled loudly and water splashed out the sink drain during peak usage times.

Review 53:Stail smoke smell permeated the room. Price was more than I've paid for five star hotels--this is a property in the tradition of the 1970s architecture with the lobby open throughout the building. This causes noise from the lobby to travel throughout the building. So at 10:30pm the bar noise was still going.

Review 54:Long list of dislikes. Its large, soulless and depressing, the decor in the rooms and lobby is tired, the muzak drives you crazy, the breakfast is very average by modern hotel standards. The wifi is slow (free) and the garage entry/exit payment system for hotel guests, most unsatisfactory.

Review 55:Its adequate. Its a place to sleep. Some of the staff were very helpful - not all.

Review 56:Too many ambulances in the mornings. The baseboards in the bathroom need touching up.

Review 57:It's beautiful inside, I love the bar and that restaurant is great.

Review 58:Room was disgusting. I called the front desk and the lady did nothinguntil the next day then I complained to someone else and they moved meto a better room. If I travel with my dog and I pay $100. I expect tohave a clean room. My house is clean and does not smell like a dog. Thefrom was in bad shape. Come on! Do a better job. Keep the rooms nice. Mydog is a dog I am all human!

Review 59:The bed was comfortable.

Review 60:Very long and disorganized wait for the valet (>15 minutes to get my car).

Review 61:Very friendly greeting on SuperBowl Sunday evening from check in desk staff and the bartender at the restaurant attached to the hotel was very welcoming.

Review 62:Loud people on my floor . Ending with cursing and a fight. I was in room 237 I think they were 235. Called a security guard came promptly . But it was from 10 til 1 and ehrn the fight and cursing happened I called.

Review 63:Convenience

Review 64:Next door ordered room service in late afternoon and the tray/plates were left outside the room and no one came to pick up until the next day.

Review 65:Location

Review 66:I was there from Wed to Sun - during the week it's all business travelers and the hotel is quiet and calm. On the weeknd, it seems to be a destination for large groups of young children, and the lobby and atrium becomes chaotic and loud and they destroy the common areas. Try to leave before Saturday morning if you want a relaxing weekend.

Review 67:Overall everything was excellent. Picky points. They could have have a heat lamp in the bathroom and a micro-wave.

Review 68:ALL the staff were "above and beyond", very pleasant, friendly, attentive and helpful. And I needed help. I lost an important carry on, and they went out of their way to help me find it, calling many cab companies and checking in with me as we both hunted. I found the piece myself, but the front desk person helping me took the time to come over to me to hear my story. He deserves a medal and a raise.

Review 69:1. Mold on bathroom walls. 2. Strange smell in the room even after they changed my room. 3. The picture of the room I selected which was $20 more than the standard category showed bigger square footage with a sitting area however, the actual room did not look bigger or have a sitting area. 4. Took 50 minutes to deliver one salad and a drink from room service after several calls. But most important was the mold in the bathroom which I had not noticed until last day otherwise I wouldn't have stayed for a minute!

Review 70:Staff were nice.

Review 71:The first room I was given had damage to the patio door, giving questionable security. There was damage to components of the room, poor lighting and what looked like jury-rigged environmental controls. I felt insulted and afraid for my safety The hotel is in severe need of updating.

Review 72:That the staff so readily addressed my concerns and found a different room for me. Convenience to metro.

Review 73:We thought the hotel was very welcoming and the staff very friendly. Only there for one night but would have liked to stay longer. A comfortable and relaxing stay.

Review 74:The parking deck was horrible -Very cramped and falling apart. The ceilings are actually crumbling. The rooms were in need of an update. Furniture was dated and worn and there was a power cord with extension cord shoved under the bed which I'm certain is not to "code". The cleaning was ok but not great.

Review 75:Food was good in dining room and the location was good. Staff was friendly and professional.

Review 76:That the cold water faucet in the bathroom sink was broken. The faucet would turn but water wouldn't come out. I would imagine the person cleaning the room would have noticed that. In any case, I went downstairs and our room was quickly changed.

Review 77:- Swimming pool. - Service at the party we attended (Goldstein wedding anniversary.) was excellent.

Review 78:No drinking water, no hot water kettle,no snacks,no newspaper in the room. Poor room service, poor restaurant. Inadequate lounge facilities. Very impersonal environment.

Review 79:Room size, large beds, large bath room. Good location.

Review 80:When I arrive the front desk staff could not find my reservation and the way the parking lot is structured and the additional $15.00 for the parking is outrageous. The parking should be free

Review 81:The beds was comfortable and the location was okay about 12 minutes from downtown.

Review 82:The air-conditioning was noisy.

Review 83:Waiting for the elevator when it's not full. Always had to take the stairs. Good thing we're just on the 2nd floor.

Review 84:None

Review 85:The quiet hours were not obeyed. The walls are thin and due to a group of young people partying next door, I could not fall asleep until 3:30am.

Review 86:Strong odor in room, air fresher wintergreen?

Review 87:Convenient , easy to get around Bethesda and to metro.

Review 88:Clean, friendly, easy to enjoy

Review 89:Everything went very well.

Review 90:Great location and restaurants around

Review 91:Bed is a bit small

Review 92:Location convienient

Review 93:Internet no good

Review 94:Good Location

Review 95:-Hotel located very close to metro station -Good community place

Review 96:The waitress Leka Meselech who tidied up my room was very nice and friendly.

Review 97:Rooms seemed to have thin walls. Could easily hear talking in rooms around me.

Review 98:The service was very Good

Review 99:Very helpful, friendly staff

Review 100:No bath matt for two days out of three nights stay.

Review 101:Really nice staff!

Review 102:Yasmeen was wonderful! She is an asset for your company! Will come back for sure!

Review 103:We drove down from CT, arrived early, were given a room immediately! The ENTIRE staff was most helpful at very point!

Review 104:My home address was mistaken for anyone else, and my request made in advane via booking.com was ignored.

Review 105:Very close to the metro station

Review 106:The smell of the room was not pleasant

Review 107:Location was convenient and right by Metro station

Review 108:Way too expensive for what you get. Hotel is old.

Review 109:Bed was uncomfortable and noisy!

Review 110:nice and quiet!

Review 111:Building/garage are a little worn out. Needs some updating.

Review 112:Staff was great.

Review 113:Excellent location just steps from a Metro [subway] station. Great restaurants in the hotel (Morton's, The Daily Grill).

Review 114:Really nothing

Review 115:Clean. Excellent restaurant and bar. Appreciated business office facility did not charge computer time to print boarding pass.

Review 116:Sink was clogged the entire time and I had no time to complain to get it fixed or move rooms.

Review 117:Room had overly strong disinfectant smell, not just in the bathroom but in the room as well

Review 118:Desk clerk, though nice, misspelled my name. I ended up getting charged twice for my prepaid stay.

Review 119:Everything

Review 120:No Wifi instructions $10 + another $20 to park.

Review 121:Quiet - good sleeping

Review 122:Dated facility, and overpriced Daily Grill restaurant!

Review 123:Location, location, location!

Review 124:Pub was blah, they tried several times to up charge me. Bed was very uncomfortable
