Reviews for Bay Sands Seafront Studios

Review 1:The staff was amazing and so helpful! We were able to borrow bikes and kayaks and had such an amazing time! The staff did everything they could to make our stay pleasant

Review 2:Good location. In front of the beach and less than 10 minutes walk to town centre. Room was very clean and spacious. We especially liked the kitchen was separated from the bedroom with a door.

Review 3:Very poor water flow in shower. One cooking element did not work.

Review 4:Excellent location to walk to Waitangi and Paihia. Lovely view of the Bay - worth paying the extra for a Bay facing room.

Review 5:Beds could be upgraded...

Review 6:I was with my siblings and their families...10-11 people... Grant and Jimmy helped us so much...! We had bbqs, freezer space...,heaps of tips...loved the warmth and friendliness.

Review 7:ever think was good

Review 8:The Bay sands motel is facing the water some 400 feet away, and that's great you can sit on the beach in the evening with a glass of wine and watch the sun go down were else in this world would you be able to do this, and its so quiet, all you can hear is the waves rippling on the beach.

Review 9:From service to cleanliness to locations. This is one of the best motels we have stayed in. We will definitely stay there again. Have recommended it to our friends

Review 10:The position of the hotel was ideal for us as it was a short walk from the main resort area and in a very quiet area. The views from the balcony are amazing.

Review 11:Lovely location across from the beach and around the corner from the supermarket. Spotless facilities in the kitchenette and throughout. Highly recommend if you are looking for decent self catering accommodation.

Review 12:The bed was a little soft for me, but that's just a matter of taste.

Review 13:Great view, friendly and helpful staff and a bit of comfort for my last couple of days in New Zealand

Review 14:Had to leave - needed to stay longer!

Review 15:Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we were made feel very welcome. Grant went out of his way to help us. The room was comfy and spacious. Bed comfy and shower good. Easy walk to town. Kitchen small but works. Fabulous view! Loved the verandah and the view. Even though not the most modern we really loved staying. Great that we could open doors and windows. Felt safe.

Review 16:Friendly, helpful and welcoming on arrival. Room clean large and airy, kitchen well equipped, good shower, fluffy towels, comfortable beds and great location. Would 100% recommend to anyone considering a break in Paihia.

Review 17:Thin walls, if you had bad neighbours it'd suck! And very poor shower water pressure. But on a whole we really liked our stay!

Review 18:Great location, good facilities, friendly staff, great to have free use of: bbq, kayaks, bikes!

Review 19:Room service was poor. Kitchen condiments were not replaced and rubbish was not emptied for 3 days. - Did they expect customers to go to the office to ask for service? - No phones in the room. - Curtains were dirty and dusty.

Review 20:The location was superb.

Review 21:Our hosts, Grant and Jimmy, were friendly and very helpful. Our ground floor room was a little dated in style, but very spacious and spotlessly clean, as were the ensuite and kitchen. The absolute waterfront location of Bay Sands Motel is excellent, being a 10 minute easy walk from the main Paihia village. Nearby there is a convenience store, Krumz bakery where you can get a moderately priced cooked breakfast and around the corner is the takeway fish shop where fresh fish meals are cooked to order.

Review 22:Noise of the bathroom fan. Every time the bathroom light turns on the fan gets turn on with a annoying noise. It was so annoying to use the bathroom even. The sink in the bathroom is too small. You can barely wash your face. The place looks so tiny. This was the worst place out of all the places we stayed in New Zealand.

Review 23:Close proximity to the beach.

Review 24:Nothing

Review 25:Very helpful staff. Clean and comfortable facilities. Ideally located on quiter part of Paihia seafront with beach across road and fantastic views of Bay of Islands.

Review 26:No issues

Review 27:Very friendly and helpful staff (went out of their way to pick us up late from a location where there were no commuting options, helped us plan our itinerary), good facilities- they have free bikes, good kitchen facilities, very nice view, good location- a 10-15 minute walk to the Paihia wharf and shopping center as well as eateries, overall very good stay and great value for money

Review 28:Poor quality furnishings, very hot and stuffy in room, poor lighting both in bedroom and shower room - impossible to read book. Quite a walk into town if elderly.

Review 29:Not a lot

Review 30:Slight negative was the water pressure in the shower a bit on the low side, otherwise everything was very good.

Review 31:Ideally located, far enough out of town to be quiet but close enough to walk in to town for bars, restaurants & ferries. Great base for exploring the Bay of Islands and Northland. Staff were extremely helpful, motel had a very relaxed atmosphere.

Review 32:The motel is in a great location right opposite the beach about 10 mins walk from central Paihia . comfortable and well equipped rooms and a warm welcome from the owners

Review 33:i liked how the apartment had a double and single bed in it. i liked how the appartment was serviced every day( not expected of self contained appartments) keep it up guys,

Review 34:Wifi didn't work on mobile. No re provisioning of coffee. No "WOW" to make me want to comeback

Review 35:Easy. No $ add ons. A little quieter - that works for me! Met my expectations.

Review 36:Excellent Location, across the road from the beach, 5 min walk from main town of Paihia. Good rooms, cleana dn very friendly and helpful staff, they let us check in slightly early and leave our car there for a few hours after we checked out, while we were on a boat trip. Definitely recommend this place.

Review 37:room was a joke. it was tiny, cramped and definitely not a studio room. Bed barely fit in bedroom area and we struggled to find a place to keep our suitcases. it was dirty and smelt musty upon arrive the doors were left open in an attempt to "air out" the musty smell. the carpet had obvious water damage the "beach front view" was a tiny opening at the end of the car park. Felt there was a lack of privacy as the balcony was shared with every other room and no barrier/separation between them. the hotel advertised having 50+ sky channels when half of them were unavailable or you had to pay extra to watch. building looks very run down and dated. the reception was filled with creepy childrens' toys and teddy bears. Very off putting. rooms desperately needed a make over as they looked very dated. the staircase leading up to our room was old and looked as though it would break. The hotel is next door to a derelict-looking house with a yard that is full of rubbish (including nappies). Kitchen was far too small to use for any kind of cooking. on site parking is very small and difficult to park in. We ended up having to park across the street. Don't bother with this one. it is a waste of money. Lots of much nicer places to stay for similar price in the area.

Review 38:Location

Review 39:Little further from bus and town centre than we thought but really not a problem. Closer to the treaty ground and a more sheltered beach.

Review 40:View, Free wifi, helpful staff who even offered to pick up or drop us off places.

Review 41:Traffic noise from the road a bit.

Review 42:Friendly and helpful staff and children playground was just other side of the road, also the beach. Free wifi and wide range of TV channels including for children. Bakery is locating near. Our had also nice view to Bay of Islands.

Review 43:Patio door was heavy to move, probably just needs greasing.

Review 44:The location was great, about a 10min walk to the centre of town but that means you get a peaceful beach front location. There is a well stocked shop, takeaway, bakery and petrol station within 2min walk. Good access to free WiFi. Comfy bed. Good size room.

Review 45:Couldn't control electric blanket and got really hot during the night. Parking a bit tight. Blankets and curtains maybe due for an up grade?

Review 46:We booked the family studio which had a separate room for our two boys (ages 8 & 10) to sleep in. We were able to use the kayaks from this motel which saved a bit of money from hiring kayaks elsewhere. Playground just across the road and local dairy, bakery, takeaways and video store close by. We took our laptop so the kids could enjoy the free wifi and also kids channels on sky tv. Only a 5min walk to ferry and bars and restaurants.

Review 47:Parking was difficult as a vehicle had parked in a way which made it impossible to drive around to park in allocated carpark

Review 48:Close to where we wanted to be. Quiet & comfortable

Review 49:Only issue was shower pressure.

Review 50:Jimmy the owner was very friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and provided everything that was required for a weekend away. Right on the beach with lovely views. Located a few minutes walk from the shops. Highly recommendeed

Review 51:Doors to room were open when we arrived, room smelt damp, woke the next morning, room smelt damp, we returned late that afternoon, room smelt damp.

Review 52:Comfortable beds, clean linen, serviced daily.

Review 53:Electric blankets were dangerous. They didn't have any switches on them so couldn't be controlled heat-wise. Also, the wiring was dangerous. One had it's wires totally exposed

Review 54:Jimmy the Manager was particularly helpful. View was amazing, and it was only a 10 minute walk into the town. It was also very close to Waitangi, and could be walked if desired

Review 55:It had everything we were looking for: comfort, quality and value formoney!! The location was priceless!! Directly accross from the beach, the park and so close to all the local amenities, cafes and sights!! Andthe owner Jimmy, was the absolute best host - so hospitable, personableand accommodating!! We will be back for summer :))

Review 56:Kicthen has to be bit more equipped.

Review 57:The sea view is excellent and good, friendly staff. They allowed us to check-in almost 2 hrs before the check-in time.

Review 58:Shower needs improving. Water hot but pressure very weak. Parking very tight squeeze. Location of Hotplates in the kitchen is awkward and dangerous if cooking with fat etc as you have to lean over the fridge to reach them.

Review 59:Good location on the beachfront with views. Free bikes and kayaks were an added bonus.

Review 60:to many mirrors could do with light above mirror in bathroom. Both doors open on arrival cold when we came in room maybe forgotten don't know but in winter to cold.

Review 61:nice spacious room clean friendly staff on arrive

Review 62:Needs bathroom upgrade. Parking at Motels is always tight. Advertised breafkfast but was not part of the deal we discovered. Pricewise was all we needed.

Review 63:Great seafront location.Good central position with easy access to most things including supermarket. Showing its age but still very comfortable and, served our purpose well.Plenty of sun when it was available.Recommend Totaltours when visiting Paihia.....ask for Shona. Free WiFi excellent....thanks

Review 73:The view from our lounge.Very comfortable bed.

Review 74:Appreciated willing help taking suitcases upstairs. Could see water view from door.

Review 75:tidy and with beach view; walking distance to the beach

Review 76:nothing much. Couldn't park beside unit...perhaps but a carport was provided.

Review 77:Great spot and value for money

Review 78:Good location, very informative host

Review 79:Lack of hot water (in shower cylinder)

Review 80:kitchen very small...not many facilities

Review 81:Size of bedroom

Review 82:The wall heater was inadequate for the size of the room - we were cold in the evening, and the mattress was very hard.

Review 83:No milk offered/given. Coffee plunger but no coffee.

Review 84:Location to central township ; off street parking; seaview.

Review 85:Very friendly and helpful staff
