Reviews for Antik Tatlidede Konagi
Review 1:The beds were suck, the air condition was older than my grandpa and didnot work. When I told the staff that the ac is not working, theirrespond was "we will give you a fan".. The bathroom was tooold, the water was warmed via electric, just imagine how suck it was.
Review 2:The location - Konum
Review 3:WiFi didn't work, breakfast finishes at 10am (served us 10:30am after requests), no hot water for shower (although we set the boiler for "hot"), AC was not enough for warming up the room, generally the facilities were poor to respond to customer demands
Review 4:the view, old style, a few helpful smiling staff
Review 5:The room, bathroom and the restaurant for the breakfast were extremely cold. The shower was not working properly but they fixed it immediately when we told them. However, it must have been checked before. The bathroom was very smelly and they should have used some air freshener. The breakfast wasn't good. The dinner in the restaurant was horrible. We changed a room and had to pay extra money. The airport shuttle was not free (40 TL (17$/14 Euro for each trip). I noticed in the recent previous comments, people wrote ''room change and airport shuttle were free'' but they were not for us. This must have been because of the ''foreigner tax''. There, when local people see a foreigner next to you, prices go up. After paying 55 Euro/64$ per night, which is a great deal for places like Mardin, you expect better conditions. I suggest thinking twice before booking!
Review 6:Staff and location were good.
Review 7:None
Review 8:Location is great; near to ulu camii and scenery at night is stunning. Staffs are really helpful and friendly esp the manager, Ali. At night, there is a singer at the cafe with beautiful voice. Breakfast is simple and yet tasty.
Review 9:There appears to be no management in the hotel. No one speaks any European language Watch out the scalding water ! The breakfast - just adequate on some days ! Stayed 3 nights - room never serviced etc not a problem but....
Review 10:The views from the terraces across the plains of Mesopotamia The building is magnificent Location the best - middle of the old town
Review 11:late in confirming vua email that they are going to pick me up from airport. Email sent just a few hours before i left from istanbul so checkibg email is necessary til the last minute.
Review 12:Location. Breakfast. Friendly staff. Free transfer to or from airport.
Review 13:Poor electrical wiring and no bedside lamps that worked. Water supply problem - water was off for most of one day- this was not the hotels fault, but they did not deal with it very well and failed to supply any emergency water
Review 14:Location and building itself was very beautiful. Terraces had stunning views.
Review 15:Dirty and smelly hallways, garbage in pits...A Few hours cleaning (not only rooms) and hotel has 10 points...
Review 16:Beautiful place and hotel. Very helpful personal, but communication only turkish. Very nice and clean room, gut airconditioning. Rich breakfest. Superb views.
Review 17:No English speaking staff. Had tired time to make them understand that I needed some glasses for drink.
Review 18:Being a photographer I actually looked for a place as close as possible to the centre of the old town. I had it here. Just a few steps you are in the market place with cobbled streets, donkeys and local people. Best location, of course.
Review 19:Staff without any English, very funny to hear OK, Ok, ok with different intonations to any our question :)
Review 20:Location is very good. Building is unique.
Review 21:the WC was narrow and not comfortable
Review 22:The staff were polite but not very helpful
Review 23:The hotel was beautiful and in a great location in the old city.
Review 24:- THIS HOTEL PROMISES WIFI IN ALL AREAS, BUT WIFI ONLY WORKS IN THE LOBBY AREA. - My room was dirty: Sheets used by previous guests had been prepped to look new, but had obviously not been washed. - Only after complaining several times did they agree to change the sheets. - The toilet and sink were not very clean. - Old soap had not been changed. - Although my room was comfy, the toilet was placed in a corner behind the door, making toilet biz a really cramped experience. - The shower head was broken, so water was splashing in all directions. It would have been easy and cheap to replace the shower head, but even after I complained to the reception, the staff couldn't be bothered to fix it. - Staff has very poor Enlish skills. - Staff seemed nervous and with little trained, often smoking outside the main entrance, instead of working. - Staff refused to serve breakfast on terrace, although its only wo steps from the restaurant. - A free roaming turtle with the same colour as terrace tiles is not a good idea, somone might accidentally step on it. I almost did. - The TV in my room was from Mesopotamian times. Ok, I didn't go to Mardin to watch TV, but no TV is better than an ancient TV. - I looked at 4 different roomes. 3 of them were very small and had no windows. The rooms in basement look very unpleasant. Make sure to ask for room with window when you book.
Review 25:- Excellent location in Mardin's picturesque old town. - Only 2 minutes walk to main attraction, Ulu camii, Mardin's most impressive 12th century mosque. - Only approx. 6 kilometers from amazing Deyrulsafaran monastary. - Fantastic view from hotel terrace. - The limestone building has been restored without destroying it's historic charm. - Hotel staff offered free cay and Turkish coffe around the clock. - Plenty with hot water in shower. - Reasonably priced: For two nights in April 2014, I paid 70 euro for a quite comfy room with a large bed. - Turkish breakfast plate was decent, although not magnificent. - All in all I would recommend this hotel, but staff still has a long way go on cleanliness and professionality.
Review 26:1) The staff. Murat and team were friendly, kind and hospitable. 2) I booked a single room but Murat gave me a suite at no extra charge! 3) The bazaar and market were right down the lane.
Review 27:first room we checked in had lots of problems. Rooms must be checked before send and guest.
Review 28:excellent staff, very helpful specially young gentlemen who works overnight. He is very kind, engaged, truly asset. He owned and resolved our problem immediately.
Review 29:Bathroom too small, with broken shower tap. Small room with uncomfortable beds. Breakfast was poor too. Should have been better for the price we paid.
Review 30:close to the old city and local market
Review 31:There was some construction noise that came through the stone walls which was annoying but Murat the receptionist upgraded me to a room away from the noise.
Review 32:The brothers Murat and Ibrahim were amazing they made my stay very memorable. They should be given a raise.
Review 33:It was not a terrible experience, but there's lots of room forimprovement. There is a problem with dampness in the bathroom: theceiling paint was flaking badly and there was a leak under the toiletwhich kept the floor wet. There was plenty of room for a table or stand, but there was only a small glass shelf above the sink, barely largeenough to hold my toothbrush and razor. My other toiletries I had to seton the floor. The second morning the water in the sink and shower hadslowed to a trickle, and there was no hot water at all. I went to thefront desk and the clerk said he'd call someone. So I went tobreakfast without showering or shaving, but when I came back 45 minuteslater, nothing had been done. I went back to the front desk and spoke toa different clerk. He came back to my room to investigate, calledsomeone who appeared immediately, and they called a third person whofixed it in a couple of minutes. Why this couldn't have been donewhile I was at breakfast remains a mystery. There were no maps or othermaterials for tourists. Other reviews indicate that there is a staffmember who speaks English, but he must have been on vacation while I wasthere. The beds were too narrow; so narrow, in fact, that I fell out ofbed during the first night. Fortunately it wasn't far to fall.
Review 34:An old mansion with charm in abundance. Large rooms with plenty ofstorage space. The bathroom was quite spacious, as well. The front deskclerk tried hard to help, but he had virtually no English and seemedinexperienced.
Review 35:- In fact, it is more hostel than a "boutique hotel" - for undemanding travellers - spots of different colours, hair and hairs everywhere (toilet, pillows, covers) - cigarette butt in the corner of the bathroom
Review 36:- the architecture of the hotel - the atmosphere - very quiet place - it could be an excelent place to stay if it was better managed
Review 37:The room was very nice but was dirty, they didn't clean the dust. The breakfast was little bit poor and the access was very difficult with car, parking was very small.
Review 38:The localization and decoration of the hotel were quite good. Views from the terrace were amazing, staff helped us in every moment. We enjoyed our stay.
Review 39:breakfast okay. no buffet as the hotel wasnt busy that was okay but the waitor forgot stuff and wasnt paying much attention
Review 40:we got a room for three so big and antique gorgious. bathroom okay great location in theold city is where you need to be mardin is beautiful and historic
Review 41:This hotel is the perfect romantic getaway in the center of Mardin. Not only did we enjoy our spacious beautifully decorated room, the view from the terrace was breathtaking and the staff was very friendly.
Review 42:Unfortuanetly the staff was really unprepared - young guys with no ability to speak english. And the first rooms we got was not clean. Hair on the bed and dirty toilet. And it shouldnt be like that for a hotel for this price.
Review 43:The surroundings, the view from the hotel and the fantastic atmosphere in Mardin. Properly one of the best locations in town.
Review 44:That we did not stay longer!
Review 45:The manager of Antik Tatlidede Konagi gave us the history of the townand of the hotel, ideas for sight seeing and made sure we were verycomfortable. The location was in the center of the town and it had amagnificent view from the terrace where you could have breakfast. Thestaff were very helpful!
Review 46:Nothing.
Review 47:Staff (particularly Burak - the manager) couldn't have been more helpful. Arrived a day early hoping to find a space for extra night - which the manager did (last suite room at ordinary double price!). Helped by sending one of the staff to bring the car up (didn't appreciate the one way system and the very minor road access). Lovely characterful hotel in central location of old Mardin - with superb views over Mesopotamian desert. Would love to stay there again.
Review 48:Breakfast could have more options and be served outdoors.
Review 49:Fantastic old house/palace with a lovely terrace overlooking Mesopotamia and the old city Mardin. Centrally located, albeit on a small and indistinct street.
Review 50:The dark dining ,breakfast room and the tiny shower
Review 51:fabolous view, spacious rooms, big terraces and a very dynamic, helpful manager, Mr. Burak, with good english.
Review 52:wonderful old traditional Mardin house with a breathtaking view.. you could just sit in the terrace and watch the view for hours.. we had a triple room used by 2 of us, so it was big enough for us.. we had some unfortunates during the stay but the they made everything possible to solve the problems. As a Turkish, I think the breakfast could be improved with small changes, such as bringing pide from close by bakery- which are all around the Mardin roads..the hotel is at the historic center, perfect location to go around.. allow at least1 hour to enjoy the view from the terrace..
Review 53:The bathroom needs some attention and the price is a bit high for what you are getting.
Review 54:The view from the terrace is outstanding and the staff were very kind.
Review 55:The room was kept clean, while the bathroom was left unattended. The waiter let the guests smoke in the restaurant and he himself smoked next to the guests. The breakfast is too ordinary.
Review 56:Some of the staff were very attentive and helpful, while others were not. In summertime this place must be wonderful. In winter it is difficult to keep heated, due to the stone floors. The evening meal was OK.
Review 57:Antik Tatlidede is a very comfortable and luxurious hotel with greatviews, relaxing environs and very helpful staff. After checking in, wewere immediately offered chai, the first of many with which we would sipand relax. Our room was one of the more luxurious ones we have had in Turkey. Spacious even with an additional chair (so we could both sit at the table), the room had sufficient heating and comfortable bed. The bathroom was clean and the shower was forceful with plenty of hot water. The breakfast was very satisfactory with hard boiled eggs, spreads, cheeses, olives, tomatoes, cucumbers, fresh bread, chai and coffee. We want to commend the manager, Burak, for his hospitality and success in ensuring our stay was comfortable, relaxing and enriching. In fact, we often heard the phrase, "I will solve your problem" and he lived up to that. Additionally, we were fortunate that he spoke English and was able to share some background on the region. He even helped to extend our car rental for no extra charge so we could see the Dara ruins. When we returned from our day's exploring, he regularly offered complimentary chai which was refreshing and relaxing. On our last day, Burak organised breakfast on the terrace to enjoy the wonderful view of Mesopotamia. Beyond him, we also want to recognise the staff for their part in making our stay memorable.
Review 58:Don't try to go to the hotel by car. It is possible to reach itslocation while driving, but it is very difficult because there are a lotof very narrow streets (pedestrian ones) in Mardin old city. Park yourcar and walk to the hotel.
Review 59:Good location in Mardin old city. I forgot my passport at this hotel andthey were kind enough to find a solution, hiring a taxi to send thepassport to my next hotel in Sanliurfa. Charming old walls anddecorations.
Review 60:friendly staff and wonderful place, beautiful architecture, old stone mansion hotel with fantastic view of Mesopotamia. I travelled with my friends on January 2013 and stayed in Tatlidede for one day. Great location as it is heart of city center. We walked to all stores and bazaars where we bought traditional dried food and household items made of cooper, and silver. The hotel is also surrounded by many restaurants, jewellery shop and few souvenir shops. Comfortable, spacious and clean rooms. special thanks and A+ to the hotel manager, Mr.Burak, for his warm hospitality and courtesy.
Review 61:The hotel staff were extremely friendly and went out of their way to make sure I enjoyed my visit in Mardin. They gave me a detailed book of all the interesting places in the city and helped me find where I needed to go. If I come back to Mardin, I will definitely stay at this hotel again.
Review 62:As soon as I checked-in, the manager insisted to see me in his office. It was almost 3pm I was very hungry as I had not had lunch yet. Hestarted to hard sell me to stay more days and pushed me have dinner intheir restaurant. I wanted to go for lunch and think about it, but hekept me in the room talking on and on. I felt very annoyed &uncomfortable. What kind of hospitality is that? I have never had suchbad experience in any hotel I stayed. Even worse, after I came back fromlunch. He called me to go to his office. Normally only your boss youwork for would call you to go to his office, but not a hotel manager! His room was full of smoke that I didn't want to stay. He explicitlyasked me to give good review & high marks. I felt a lot of pressurefrom him. I decided to move out the next day, otherwise everything aboutthis hotel is great and I would want to stay longer.
Review 63:I must say this is a beautiful stone house.
Review 64:Great location in the old part of the town, beautiful architecture, fantastic view, very friendly and helpful staff who helped us organize excursions in and around Mardin. We felt as it was our home!
Review 65:This was ok for me, but staff spoke no English. You can't drink alcohol except within your room. Prepare to drive on torn up roads.
Review 66:Building was old stone mansion. Terrace looks over plains. Room was very large with high ceiling.lots of windows and well-lighted. Excellent breakfast on terrace. Parking free.
Review 67:The owner/manager of the hotel is the most helpful person I have ever seen in any hotel around the world. If you have any issue or need, just speak to him.
Review 68:Very nice and helpful staff. Great location, very close to the historical locations in the old town. The old mansion is beautifully renovated and decorated. The view from the terrace is quite stunning during sunset. Comfortable rooms with character.
Review 69:The one thing that really needs work is the breakfasts. (And dinners to an extent, though we usually ate out.) Also while you are allowed to drink in the hotel, you cannot bring drinks on the porch, even when eating dinner or in late afternoon which is kind of a minus. I know the region is conservative, but usually nice hotels allow you to drinking, and Mardin is relatively not conservative, and has a lot of Christians who make their own red wine (avail in town!) which would have been nice to enjoy out there.
Review 70:This place is absolutely gorgeous - a 14th century palace that has been restored. It has 7 layers or floors, and unbelievable views of the plains of Mesopotamia. Try to get one of the top two rooms that also has the views. It has an expansive porch that overlooks the view you could sit on for hours. It is located in the dead center of Mardin - an ideal location. I highly recommend this place for its character and authenticity and location and attentive staff.
Review 71:staff super friendly and chatty building itself historic and very cool view of syria a plus
Review 72:excellent staff, very efficient and friendly, no problem too big
Review 73:No cleaning of room during my stay - not even the bin was emptied
Review 74:Incredible view
Review 75:Difficult to find.
Review 76:Great location for old town. Beautiful building, beautiful view, and authentic experience.
Review 77:the feeling.
Review 78:Employees are realy helpful for everything. Like the building. Best place to stay in ancient mardin.
Review 79:Management needs to be more professional.
Review 80:Beautiful old building, well located.
Review 81:AC was a bit loud.
Review 82:Excellent location in the historic part of Mardin. Fantastic views, nice rooms.
Review 83:not easy to find and to arrive (very small streets)
Review 84:beautiful hotel in the city center, polite and helpful staff
Review 85:I liked the approach of the manager who did his best to make my stay enjoyable and comfortable.
Review 86:Breakfast needs to be improved.
Review 87:Location is great, views from the terrace stunning, staff helpful. Room was quite big.
Review 88:Excellent location. Very nice location. The manager,Burat was terrific. Whole staff was excellent and spoke English
Review 89:Nice hotel with very friendly staff, located a few alleys off the main street. Beautiful views from the terrace.
Review 90:Over priced meal, you get much better meal in city for far less money.
Review 91:The historic building The friendliness of the staff and the management
Review 92:Poor breakfast
Review 93:Nice location good to stay in a hotel which is like a historic place since it is an old house
