Reviews for Centara Villas Samui

Review 1:Secluded beach front hotel. Lovely private bungalow style rooms. Welcoming staff. Amazing buffet breakfast. Our experience of the restaurant was that is was more expensive (watch the surcharge) than at other comparable hotels. Hotel offers a free shuttle at several times of the day that allows you to explore other parts of the island if you choose. We would definitely recommend this hotel and go back.

Review 2:They forgot to book the taxi for the airport and came 40 minutes after booked time. They didn't apologize for the mistake. Some staff were very helpful, others were not ie just referred to read the brochure when wanting to book a local activity.

Review 3:Didn't clean the beach or surrounding areas. Plastic bags, bottles and other trash.

Review 4:Breakfast: a joke, common centara, this place does not deserve your name Staff: very friendly staff, but friendliness does not hide that this place needs some serious management attention, unprofessional sometimes & however always friendly. Room: we had the pool villa, and paid premium, but it was such a disappointment. It feels like a 40 year old pimped up hut, that had a quick refurbishment 5 years ago, where all the rust and dirt was colored over! the bed is comfy & bathroom is clean. wifi did not work for us.

Review 5:Pools: nice, but oldstyle Garden: lovely atmosphere Staff: friendly Room/Villa: on paper it sounds nicer than it is Location: nice calm place, if thats what you want Beach: good beach

Review 6:Location is quite removed, with no other restaurants or shops within walking distance So if you want quiet chilled time, then it's good. There are shuttles which run to the busier beaches from 11, but you need to pay for these.

Review 7:Staff were great! We had a private pool room, which was excellent. Restaurant also made decent food. It was part of our honeymoon and they really made that special. All in a great place

Review 8:I do think that more attention could be paid to picking up litter round the beach area and raking the sand.

Review 9:I liked the staff. Very friendly. I liked the accommodation nice and clean. Food nice. Really liked having Lulu the dog around too!!

Review 10:The resort is pretty remote. Fine if you just want somewhere quiet and out of the way, but not great if you want to go visit places, restaurants, bars, etc. There's a reasonably priced shuttle bus but it sometimes gets booked up, and it kind of restricts your plans a bit. Also the driver "helpfully" arranged us a taxi from where it drops off (the central Centara resort) to the place we were going (Big Buddha), at a complete ripoff price (about 2x what it should have been). After getting many more taxis we realised this and felt a bit deceived.

Review 11:Decent place, if a little tired. Pretty quiet since it's out of the way, so peaceful and little contention for facilities. Free rental of kayaks to paddle along the coast a way. Pretty tasty food and good room service. The buffet wasn't great but the Friendly and helpful staff.

Review 12:The hotel is in a beautiful setting but for us it was just too far away from the town.

Review 13:Beautiful rooms. Lovely pool. Excellent staff especially the restaurant managers who went out of their way to cater for mt ceoliac friend.

Review 14:It was not clean at all I changed my room like 3 times, molds everywhere In the sea view villas. High humanity in the toilets therefore more insects there Breakfast not all the items were fresh! Such as bread and fruits

Review 15:The location and the staff

Review 16:I was staying in a spa villa (private jacuzzi) my room constantly smelled of sewerage, my friend who was staying in the villa next door could even smell it whilst in my room. Drink and food is expensive in the hotel bar and although staff are very friendly and give great service I like to be left alone not bothered by staff constantly my room was offered to be cleaned 2-3 times a day on many occasions I would be naked out of the shower or getting out of my swimwear after the jacuzzi and staff would be arriving in you always have to keep watch. Nature of coarse takes over when outdoors and there is nothing the property can do about that it's just the location there are plenty or frogs, giant butterfly's, centapedes and even a small snake or too to keep.you company on the long walk up the 100s of steps from the bar to your room... recommend renting a car if staying in this property

Review 17:Loved my own jacuzzi, air conditioning was the best I had while in samui. Very clean property.

Review 18:Location was difficult sometimes if you wanted to be close to all the main shopping and nightlife in Chawang

Review 19:Staff were fantastic very friendly and nice

Review 20:The location was secluded and poor, and the facilities were a bit ragged and worn, while the prices reflected that of a brand new, immaculate resort. Only old couples. Wouldn't stay again.

Review 21:The breakfast buffet was amazing.

Review 22:A lot of steps and if you don't like creatures there is a few lizards about but they do no harm. If anything they eat the annoying flys and spiders

Review 23:Staff were very friendly and would do anything to help you The rooms were amazing and the bed was the most comfortable bed I've ever slept on View was breathtaking

Review 24:Maybe my only complain would be the ocean. Although it is small and kind of a private beach, the sea is rocky and there is a lot of plancton floating around, which can be a little annyoing.

Review 25:We loved the concept of the rooms, set up as individual villas. That is quite lovely and gives a lot of privacy. We absolutely adored the staff, extremely nice and helpful, always smiling and always willing to help. The pools are great. Food is ok and happy hour is really good value for your money!

Review 26:The beach was not ideal for swimming, the location was just a little remote. In the evenings the restaurant staff lost interest a couple of times and let down the quality of service.

Review 27:The facilities were very good, the villas and the landscaping were very nicely done.

Review 28:Nothing

Review 29:We stopped here six years ago and was in samui in March and was my wife's sixthy birthday so we booked in for it had a spa room was great and staff very nice they even give my wife a birthday cake . It looks have been revamped since last time here it was very clean and well kept . It's in a quiet place if that's what your looking for but easy to get around the island

Review 30:Rooms cleaness should be better

Review 31:+ Situated in jungle + Very romantic atmosphere + Perfect villas + Spa and pool villas recommended + Friendly personell + Extremely nice located with pools and small waterfalls + Bird & flowers oasis + Situated near to Fishermans restaurant

Review 32:You have to pay a lot for wifi in the room. polluted beaches next to resort beach. airco makes a lot of noise.

Review 33:room is very big, beds are very comfortable. Right by pool and beach. Beaches of the resort are clean but the one next to it is very polluted. it is very isolated so very relaxing and peaceful. very beautiful resort.

Review 34:The location and style of the resort oozes relaxation. Tim the Manager, Lex his assistant, the bar staff the spa staff, restaurant staff and security made you feel right at home and part of their family. The location is fantastic. If you fell off your restaurant chair you would land on the beach.

Review 35:- our reservation wasn't on file - The gardens felt like only being groomed and taken care for around the lobby area. Most other areas were in poor condition. Cracked sand washes, broken pathways, blocked of broken wooden stairs. Heavy weeding around pool area. garden not maintained around restaurant and pool area. pool foggy and not clean. broken pool lamps in pool exposed cabling to wet areas. All in all quite a sad sight and very unexpected for Centara Brand! - Very poor presentation of breakfast buffet, poor selection, little variety, no changes in food items throughout our stay. We attended the thai-evening buffet on our second evening (out of six), again poor presentation and worst selection of any dinner buffet we have ever experienced at a resort of equal category, completely overpriced for what was offered. This was the last and only time we dined in the hotel due to disappointment. - The jacuzzi on the patio could not be switched of. Staff did not manage to repair throughout our 6 day stay. Jacuzzi pump had to stay on throughout our stay.

Review 36:- friendly and helpful staff - comfortable bed - remoteness (if you like it - we did)

Review 37:maintainance is not to a great standard but decent.far away from city if you prefer to stay near the busy hustling.but for the price its a good deal

Review 38:location far away from the hustle, the way we like.best excelent beach, almost private with few other people around. pool was good, restaurant ambience was great with amazing views of the beach

Review 39:Location is far from village, price for the room is reasonable, except that everything is expensive, most cases are reaching double prices and even more. It is a very nice place, my suggestion is to get a scooter and get all you need half the price.

Review 40:Isolated from all theparties, quiet and peaceful, perfect view from most of the rooms to the sea, very clean and great service from staff.

Review 41:- bad motorbykes rented for higher prices and given without fuel (to have a better motorbyke you can walk down 5 min and have a cheaper and bigger scooter) - many many bungalow very close to each other... Jungle of bungalows.. Not nice setting

Review 42:- nice rooms, nice pools and beach (not crowded) - good breakfast

Review 43:It really is quite far away from the main town and airport. I read the reviews which said it was far and I thought yeah yeah it won't be too bad, but it is further than I expected (about 45 mins to Chaweng). There is a great shuttle bus service which doesn't cost much and takes you to Chaweng and/or Lamai which is great and well worth it. I wouldn't let the distance deter you from staying here, the secluded nature of the place makes it perfect for relaxing, but if you're looking for a lot of action and nightlife and things to do then you might be better off staying somewhere closer.

Review 44:Beautiful place to stay on a beautiful island. The villas are spacious, modern and the bed was really comfortable. There are three pools and the beach which was amazing and plenty of sun lounges too. The food at the restaurant was terrific and the staff were really friendly. It really caters for everything you could want. I wouldn't hesitate to return again if I was looking for a nice relaxing holiday in the sun. It was perfect!

Review 45:Location is a bit far from the main attractions but also very quite for a great stay

Review 46:- Different pools available - Private jacuzzi on the terasse - Environmental friendly spirit!

Review 47:beach - because there are a lot of rocks and stones. Crazy moscitos. I havn't had such reaction before. Not much lite near jacuzzi and outside the room.

Review 48:villa, huge bed. I didn't sleep so good long time ago. Good staff. very quite.

Review 49:The steps from the villa to the beach and to where all food was served you must warn people about the number of steps they need climb. I am not of the best of health and the climb each day ruined my holiday. The breakfast was of a very low standard indeed

Review 50:Going home

Review 51:Didn't recieve the room we booked. No discount on the room we was downgraded too just free money to spend within the hotel restraunts and bars which were very over priced with poor service and had the cheek to add 17% in service charge and tax when the service was so poor not friendl staff what so ever. They also added money on when we checked out saying we used mini bar in room when we didnt very poor hotel.

Review 52:good sea view from rooms

Review 53:isolation from anywhere. the hill leading up to the complex made walking a chore. the steps to the beach (162 from top to bottom) maintenance to the complex is not up to par

Review 54:private pool friendly staff food was good

Review 55:A bit too isolated for a young family. We would prefer to be closer to town, but it's a short drive away regardless.

Review 56:The view out to the sea

Review 57:Everything

Review 58:Far away from convenient store and restaurant.

Review 59:All rooms is a villa.

Review 60:Overpriced hidden extras (of which there were many), lack of professionalism of reception staff

Review 61:Nice pools

Review 62:Dirty beach Expensive everything Limited options - no a la carte breakfast - $20 buffet or nothing Far away location

Review 63:Staff

Review 64:staff is not helpful

Review 65:Set up, Closeness to beach

Review 66:No wifi in villas/rooms although it is advertised on the internet

Review 67:Location Staff Variety of food Accomodation

Review 68:Distance to the airport wifi was not working Breakfast had mostly fried food

Review 69:Room territory staff

Review 70:It is a little bit far from Lamai. Should have more shuttles

Review 71:It is a very friendly place. The villa are clean and confortable

Review 72:A long way from main beaches & any other restaurants etc

Review 73:Great facilities, quiet location, small but nice beach. Lovely pools

Review 74:Nothing in particular. Great and beautiful beach to look at but if you are looking to surf then not so. Salt is grainy and not a sandy beach. We dint seem to mind though. Loved it and we will definitely be staying here again!

Review 75:Loved the ocean view villa. The food and the service was superb. Staff was friendly and very helpful. The shuttle service to Chaweng and Lamai was frequent and at a reasonable charge. We definitely look forward to coming back here sometime again!

Review 76:Only thing I might comment negativity about might be the cost of the banquet dinners in comparison to the menu dinners.

Review 77:Could not fault the place. Oh except they did help me drink a few too many each night with their wonderful service and incredible hospitality.

Review 78:to go to city center have to take the transfers that the hotel offers, is a little far

Review 79:I liked because it felt like an honeymoon, was veryquiet, very nice view and the beach was small but was nice. is good if you want really relax

Review 80:This was the worse hotel of our trip. Location is not great, its quieter that side - but its too far from chaweng. The hotel staff was also not that friendly. I don't know if this is because our 2 previous hotels was so amazing, but they were just there. Ive booked one of the spa villas and its not value for money at all. Our air con didn't work for 2 of the nights, then they phoned us awake 3am in the morning to change rooms. This holiday was special for me as I got engaged to my girlfriend and I wanted to spoil her a bit on some nice places to stay. This hotel did not make that moment special and it was very expensive for not much at all.

Review 81:The location was very isolated and a car or bike hire is essential. This is a good place if you don't want to engage with 'real' Thailand too much. We occasionally felt that the hotel over charged unnecessarily for things, food, drinks, taxis etc. We found things considerably cheaper a ten minute walk down the road. We booked into a spa villa and paid on arrival for the full 8 nights. However, shortly after paying we were informed that the spa villa wasnt available and we were down graded for one night. We were offered a 2000 baht bar tab, however, we would have liked to be informed of this prior to payment and gvien the option of how we wanted to be reimbursed. It seemed a little presumptuous to us that we should have to pay the full amount despite the hotels error.

Review 82:The room was a good size and had everything we could need. The restaurant had good Thai food and the staff were friendly.

Review 83:The staff in the restaurant and bar was not very attentive and the service was bad. But they still add 10% service charge on your bill.

Review 84:Spa villas and pool villas were amazing and I can highly recommend the spa villas (jacuzzi on the private sun deck) for couples and pool villas (private pool) for families.

Review 85:The USP of the resort was the location and the property. But the rooms were a bit of a disappointment especially considering the price tag it goes with... But still would recommend

Review 86:If you go to Koh Samui for swimming this place is not for you. The seabed is covered by stones and corals. Mostly we swam in a pool. Be aware of stray dogs when you go for an evening strol outside. We faced a pack of dogs when we turned left and were nearly bitten by them. The restaurant on the beach is pricy, but there are two cafes outside (7 minutes on foot).

Review 87:Calm and peacefull place, far from evereywhere. There is a shuttle bus to Chaweng and Lamai which operates 5 times during a day. To Lamai it costs 40 baht per person to Chaweng 80 baht - one way. If you don't like to spend your day on rocky beach there is a sister hotel Centara Chaweng for you. You can go there and use all facilities on their beach, you should show your key for that. You can play ping pong, darts on the beach, go kayaking, snorkelling and all of these for free.

Review 88:It would be great if there was a wi-fi facility - there is, however, access to 2 computers in reception. There are shuttles into the busier nearby towns but space has to be reserved early which can do away with spontaneity. For some of our time there there was only one shuttle and space was limited. It would be great if tuk-tuks were more readily available to/from area. There are a LOT of steps - no problem for us but could be for older people. The housekeeping phone outside our room was, at times, irritating.

Review 89:The design, setting and accommodation was lovely. The rooms were well serviced, though, occasionally, only at 3pm which is a bit late. The breakfast selection was excellent and it was wonderful to eat outdoors. Service was attentive in all areas including the beach.

Review 90:I dislike most is the buffet dinner when the first day we checked in. I'm expect to have a seafood dinner instead but none of the expectation was serve local food most. They just have fish only. And the price was not really worth for the buffet. It should have more varieties instead. And the water pressure was too low. Some of the rooms need maintenance. Out of three rooms, two of them are not well maintain even the first day need to change another room instead. Spoiled the honeymoon mood instead.

Review 91:I like most is the environment. It's cozy feel like home although abroad. Staff there some are friendly.

Review 92:Centara Villas is good but not excellent.Reception staff are helpful but not polished. Room was fine but bed a little hard. Location is both good and bad - you are on the quieter side of the island away from the main beaches and business which is great if you want that but not great if you want to visit the iconic bars and beaches. Good scooter hire down the road - wear a helmet as your travel insurance will be void if you have a crash without one. In-house bar and restaurant both ok and prices reasonable.

Review 93:The staff were excellent and very friendly and hospitable. It is worthan upgrade. We had a pool villa and it was very private and had goodview of the ocean even though we didn't pick an ocean view villa. Thefood was very good and and private beach was excellent and never overcrowded. There are 3 pools so you have plenty of space and sun beds.Would recommend and love to go again. There are a few steps since theresort is on a hill so if have a room near the top be ready for fewsteps! The restaurant and bar and toilets are near the beach so noreason go back to the room once you are down.

Review 94:Our toilet kept blocking up. The bath and beach towels were stained.

Review 95:It was out of the way from everything so was nice and quite. The way thevillas were set out gave you enough privacy. We had to depart earlyunexpectedly due to a death back home and we found The General Manager(Scott) and the staff were excellent in helping us to re arrange ourtravel plans as we were not covered by insurance. I couldn't speak morehighly of them for their compassion and assistance. We ate at the hotelthe whole time and the food was faultless and reasonably priced. We willdefinitely return for a holiday there again.

Review 96:Wasnt water pipe for WC

Review 97:employees were friendly Very good food Service is excellent Mr. Samchaw assistant were very helpful

Review 98:declaration too old. no wifi in the room

Review 99:Quiet and peaceful.

Review 100:Staff is perfect, location is quiet, I have been a regular return customer.

Review 101:Lovely staff. Friendly and obliging. If there was an issue, they dealt with it straight away.

Review 102:Slow shower.

Review 103:Excellent staff. Great food. Nice villas. Good pools.
