Reviews for Murphy's Resort
Review 1:Clean rooms and comfortable beds. The staff was amazingly awesome: friendly, offered assistance finding restaurants, very detailed with resort accommodations, quick and welcoming. Easy access to downtown and other accommodations. I highly recommend this resort!
Review 2:This is the seconond time we've stayed at Murphy's Resort and both times have been phenomenal. The staff is very kind and knowledgeable, the rooms are clean and cozy. We always have a good time while we're there.
Review 3:What a lovely place! Staff was so friendly, the beds comfy, and the price made it even better. Our kids loved the jacuzzi tub and the movie rentals. We will be back!
Review 4:The only thing I didn't like was the outlets in the room were not in a convient location.
Review 5:The staff was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. They went out of their way to help us on multiple occasions and made us feel like family. They have also redone the rooms, so they are very nice. Finally, I loved all the games and activities they offered. Very family friendly.
Review 6:I'm rewriting my review, because maybe I was too mean the first time around. But my opinion remains the same. This is not a resort in the capacity that most Americans consider "resort". **PLEASE SEE THE PHOTOS ATTACHED TO THIS REVIEW" It is a cheap motel, albeit fairly sanitary, with a pool, hot tub and some games (horse shoes, etc). The owner claims that the fact that they have games makes this a resort. Maybe he's right, but be careful not to assume that it means high-end furniture, flat screens, modern amenities. It's the opposite. The flat screens are the cheapest the owner could buy. The bathroom has gas station style soap dispensers. These also exist in the showers. Towels are cheap and worn and mismatched throughout the room. Comforters are pretty ugly and the bed is hard, and cheap feeling. Cheapo coffee maker with cheapo coffee. Better to wait and get a Starbucks on your way out of town. Weird hair dryers. The old plastic cups wrapped in plastic. You get the idea. But there are some pros: it seems sanitary. That said, based off of the cheap decor, I lost a bit of trust in the cleanlieness department and chose to sleep on top of the bed, fully clothed. It was not a great night stay. I got in late, so they left a key in a lockbox for me. That was a little weird. Again, see the photos to get an idea. On a positive note, Estes Park is not really known for having nice hotels, so maybe compared to the others, maybe this is the closest thing that Estes has to a resort. I hope not. But maybe!
Review 7:Didn't require checking in.
Review 8:The breakfast was okay -- not wonderful but adequate.
Review 9:The room was wonderful: fireplace that worked in both the front room and the bedroom, comfortable bed, hot tub, comfie couch. The staff was great: welcoming, informative, and accommodating.
Review 10:Had a bath mat in bath tub and it was moldy underneath, its just unsanitary.
Review 11:view was awesome! staff very friendly, location good. Breakfast was great!
Review 12:Staff were very helpful and friendly. Great location and clean, comfortable rooms. Had a king lake view room and it was very comfortable with a beautiful view. Would definitely stay again!
Review 13:They placed us right next to a room that was under construction which inflamed our allergies and woke us up in the morning. When I went to the office the young girl at the desk eventually moved us but was not very friendly nor did she apologize for the inconvenience. The rest of the staff was friendly. The bathrooms were really small too.
Review 14:The grounds were nice with lots for kids to do, which made it a good place to stay for our daughter. Breakfast was good.
Review 15:the second night i book thru booking.com and was very expensive compared to first night that will wont happen again
Review 16:the first night I book thru the hotel themselves at a great price
Review 17:breakfast a bit colorless, mattress of sofa sleeper was a bit saggy, expensive room rates (but that's maybe in general the case for Estes Park)
Review 18:friendly and helpful staff, convenient location for exploring the national park, quiet rooms
Review 19:Breakfast was fine except for awful muffins. Beds needed additional blankets for people like me and my friend who need extra warmth.
Review 20:Close to Lake Estes where I could put in my kayak and observe elk
Review 21:This is a great place to stay. Campfire sing alongs, free video rentals, laundry facilities and nice rooms. Ours had been recently rehabbed which was nice. Great location in Estes, close to Rocky Mountain National Park.
Review 22:Facility was outdated and the receptionist at night was friendly but not the other one in morning. I had a feeling that she was not to happy to hand me copy papers for me to print some boarding pass from the computer at the office.
Review 23:not too far from downtown area and well kept cleaned
Review 24:Room had a mold odor . Room chairs had a hassock which looked great however chairs were the size to fit a person smaller than five foot . Continental breakfast only and rooms cost over $160 a night .
Review 25:You could tell they had tried to remodel in past couple of years .
Review 26:Just a little plain for our taste but adequate for a one nighter. Looks like a family place with playground. When the pool is working, must be fun.
Review 27:We liked the meadow view out the window, the elk in the front yard and the location near Estes downtown. Nepal has excellent food.
Review 28:Tempo style banging noise was heard by my room (354) all night, slow-to fast-back to slow. All Night Long. I also wished your free breakfast had warm scrambled eggs and waffles.
Review 29:Far enough from downtown, and the noise. Pretty grounds, 3 Elk visited my room (the ONLY elk I saw the whole trip, even in RMNP).
Review 30:Nothing!!! Everything was GREAT!
Review 31:We had the best time singing and guitar playing around the fire. And the staff made sure we had all we needed for our cookout. We hope to go back sometime.
Review 32:Besides the tap, there was no water available at breakfast or to fill a bottle. Besides that, I wouldn't change a thing!
Review 33:Such a great location and resort! It was perfect for us as a childless couple but it would also be really good for families! Will stay again for sure
Review 34:As we were traveling with another couple it was a little inconvenient to share a bathroom. But everything else was great.
Review 35:It's location and cleanliness. Also beds and pillows were very comfortable.
Review 36:We liked everything about this place. The rooms were large, clean and modern. The grounds were nice with plenty to do. Nice, large pool, nice large hot tub, shuffle board, bean bags, bbq grills. Breakfast was average.
Review 37:Seemed a bit expensive.
Review 38:We liked the location, that it was away from the 'downtown' Estes Park. We liked the way that you converted the 'motel' rooms into Suites! Staff was VERY friendly!
Review 39:The only negative was the height of the shower head. Too low for tall people. Other than that everything was great.
Review 40:Very friendly staff. Cleanliness of room and grounds. Continental breakfast more than adequate.
Review 41:The staff seemed to sincerely enjoy their positions and went out of their way to make our stay comfortable. The staff was friendly, accommodating and had a fine sense of humor.
Review 42:Beds were to hard and the room had a odor that I couldn't get rid of. It had a small ac in the wall that froze up.
Review 43:The size of the room was very nice and large.
Review 44:Bath and vanity area small. Beds took up most of the living space. Room interior is dated. Air conditioners are loud.
Review 45:Staff very courteous and responsive to our needs. Housekeeping did a great job every day. Beds very comfortable. Continental breakfast provides many choices and is constantly replenished.
Review 46:The only thing I had a problem with was the bed this time. Our last stay we had a king sized bed and I slept really well, this time we had a queen and it wasn't as comfortable.
Review 47:I liked everything about Murphy's Resort. The staff as always were kind and courteous. If we needed anything they had it for us.
Review 48:The ONLY thing I had an issue with this ONE time is one day our room didn't get cleaned by housekeeping.
Review 49:I like the heated pool, the playgrounds for the kids, the fire pits and bbq grills. They let you rent movies from their office and things for table tennis and horse shoes or all kinds of other games.
Review 50:I was dismayed that the people renting the end unit were allowed to smoke next to my door.... I couldn't turn on my air unit without bringing in more of the choking smoke smell.
Review 51:I appreciated the location of the resort. I also liked the different things provided on the grounds to entertain guests.
Review 52:Had to ask to have room cleaned one day because it wasn't done.
Review 53:I like that they have things there to do for families like games, swimming pool, fire pits, bbq grills, playgrounds and not just somewhere to sleep but somewhere to relax.
Review 54:There are many amenities on this property. Playground for kids, nice pool, picnic tables, horseshoe games, BBQ grills. It was very peaceful & relaxing. The staff was friendly and shared information about Estes Park as well as Rocky Mountain National Park.
Review 55:The outdoor lights on our unit were not on at night. All the other units had lighting.
Review 56:New bathroom fixtures, furniture, refrigerator-freezer. Clean rooms, friendly staff. Located near Lake Estes, open spacious grounds; did not feel crowded in by nearby motels.
Review 57:Room was a tad small but it worked for us. Breakfast could have been better with some hot entrees. But, hey, it was free!
Review 58:Staff was super friendly and helpful
Review 59:The guy who oversees breakfast did not have juice one morning, and the next morning he said the coffee was frozen (not sure what that means) and so he could not make more than one pot. We watched as dozens of people walked in looking for their morning Joe only to be told the same odd story. How does the guy in charge of breakfast run out of coffee?
Review 60:The front desk folks are excellent, especially Eliza.
Review 61:Staff very friendly and welcoming and always keen to offer advice about activities and things to see (very knowledgeable about the area). Loved the shared grill and games facilities - very social, despite only having 2 nights we met some fun people.
Review 62:The staff were very nice and helpful as i had a lot of questions about the area and needed a lot of Directions to sights. The breakfast was very good with good coffee, juice, pastry, english muffins hard boiled eggs, yogurt, oatmeal very good.
Review 63:We signed up for the paint and sip and it kept getting rescheduled but it wasn't the resorts fault it was only rescheduled because there wasn't enough people taking the class.
Review 64:Everything we had an amazing time and we can't wait to return!
Review 65:Great location, convenient to Rocky Mtn National Park, close to town but not in the middle of the crowds. Lots of great amenities for two families traveling together - pool, playground, shuffleboard, horse shoes, gazebo with grills and picnic tables....all visible right from our hotel door! Good restaurants w/in walking distance.
Review 66:Free WiFi is a bonus, but it did operate very slowly which did impact the small amount of business I needed to conduct while away.
Review 67:I loved everything about the resort. Great value for a wonderful family oriented resort. The children and grandchildren loved the heated pool and various games to play. Staff is very congenial.
Review 68:Small window air conditioner blocked by curtain, small bathroom.
Review 69:The staff was wonderful - very nice breakfast, comfortable rooms and beds. Great activities provided.
Review 70:That we couldn't stay longer!
Review 71:The cleanest room with the most comfortable bed. We really enjoyed the large size of the room since we travel with so many items. The cleanest resort we have EVER stayed in. We just stayed there in the evening and enjoyed the premises.
Review 72:The room was not very clean. The bathroom was dirty and it looked like they refilled the mini shampoo bottle.
Review 73:The staff was wonderful and very helpful and friendly.
Review 74:The wi-fi was extremely slow and in order to work on my iPad and phone, I had to disable the internet connection so I could use cellular communications; otherwise my searches and activities would time out.
Review 75:The staff was great and the hotel had a lot of amenities although we didn't use them because this was a quick trip for weekend wedding. The rooms were very clean and comfortable.
Review 76:Since I have to say something, the coffee maker ain't that good.
Review 77:Hot Pool, outside pool, have plenty of board games and outdoor games and activities. Pool services like shower, towel, and pool balls to play with.
Review 78:We have nothing negative to say as this property & the host are both superb.
Review 79:Lloyd is one of the most gracious hosts we've ever had the pleasure to meet. Property is well appointed and far exceeded all our needs.
Review 80:My kids wanted a waffle maker.
Review 81:The activities playground, pool, ping, pong, shuffle board, BBQs, picnic tables, fire pit all of these made the stay awesome. There was a lot to do and easy access to national park and downtown estes.
Review 82:The key and doors. Not use to round knobs and real keys. Key card would be cheaper. Consider for next renovations. Pool and hot tub closure is too early. Consider 10:30 for the summer.
Review 83:Clean rooms, friendly hostess during breakfast. Love the craft and activities corner!
Review 84:Only had two plug ins for the fridge, microwave, and coffee maker - not really a big deal but more of an annoyance in the morning. One of our jacuzzi tubs in our room didn't work - but the in-room one did so it wasn't a problem for us.
Review 85:Pool was great (and warm), wish the hot tub was working but really didn't miss it. Breakfast was a little better than I thought - it had pastries, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, etc - just no bacon / sausage or eggs to order more or less. Excellent selection of movies in the lobby you could check out for free to watch while you stayed was awesome. Kids liked the playground too.
Review 86:Everyone was so helpful! Our truck broke down as we pulled up to our door. We had only planned on staying 1 night..ended up we were there for 5 nights. We were headed to our daughters wedding in Montana. All of the staff as well as the residence of Estes helped us out. Walkers auto was extremely helpful. I can't say enough good things about this place or the town!
Review 87:Beds were too soft for us. Wished there was more than one washer and dryer. We found dirty washcloths behind the nightstand.
Review 88:Location was great and plenty of activities to do. Breakfast had a good selection.
Review 89:Hit tub closes at 9pm which is too early for parents to take turns while kids sleep!
Review 90:Very clean, perfect location to walk to the marina which has all kinds of fun boat to rent, breakfast was nice, tons for the kids to do, had a unit with a window overlooking the lake, staff was super helpful and reliable. Definitely wil stay here again!
Review 91:The roll-a-way bed may be fine for a small child but my 11 year old could not sleep on it because she could feel the springs poking her through the mattress. I thought she was exaggerating so I laid on it and it was painful. Our King size bed however was great so all 3 of us slept in it.
Review 92:Beautiful location, great for pets and kids. Had free DVD's and many games
Review 93:No hot continental breakfast, would have loved to see a waffle maker but there was none, all cold foods.
Review 94:Beautiful scenery and close to all the major attractions. Friendly staff, clean rooms. Really nice quart yard with grills,a pool and yard games.
Review 95:No restroom by pool. With little kids that give you no warning...it's inconvenient having to RUN back to the room.
Review 96:Mattresses were very comfortable. Room (we had a room with 3 queen beds) was small but adequate for an overnight.
Review 97:Wish I could have stayed longer!
Review 98:The bikes are a part of the stay so we biked around the beautiful lake that sits right behind the resort. The rooms are large, we had a 2 queen bed room. They have popcorn and movies that you can borrow which we did.
Review 99:The staff was super. They have DVDs to borrow for free and DVD players in the rooms, which was great with the kids. The playground was wonderful to have, also.
Review 100:We had a two queen size older room that was dark and depressing. We paid Booking.com for three nights but could only stay for two nights and no refund for third night. If booked directly with the motel we would have only paid a $20.00 cancellation fee.
Review 101:From the Internet information I expected a room with a view of lake and mountains. Instead we got the cement block wall and neighbor's storage shed. We stayed one night and then found a different hotel.
Review 102:Room was clean and adequate. Fair price. On the main street of Estes Park.
Review 103:As non pet travelers, our room was adjacent to a room with a dog left barking and unattended. This occurred for a few hours on our afternoon arrival and the next morning while the owner was at breakfast. The staff was responsive in locating the owner & taking care of the barking dog. Recommend placing non pet reservations away from the pet friendly rooms.
Review 104:Clean, convenient location, good value, breakfast
Review 105:The WiFi was really slow. I ended up using my Phone's hotspot. The bathroom was dated, but functional. The modern sink on the outside made up for it though.
Review 106:The room was clean and the view was excellent! Plenty of amenities, and seemed to have a bunch of family oriented activities.
Review 107:I loved that we could check in early and have games available to play as family without additional cost. It was real bonding time playing ladder ball, shuffleboard, swimming. Thank you so much!
Review 108:Loretta , who is the General Manager and her whole staff very friendly and helpful. A very good place for people of all ages/family to stay in the city of Estes Park Clean Breakfast facility.
Review 109:Stay too short!
Review 110:Inn looks unassuming from the road but far exceeded our expectations. The staff is extremely friendly and efficient, the room well appointed, and grounds are very well kept.
Review 111:The whirlpool, sauna and internet did not work. The whirlpool water was extremely cloudy, there was an odor of dead fish near the whirlpool and the bathroom in our room had a strong sewage odor. Be sure to tell the front desk clerk you are checking out the morning you are leaving as they will charge you additional fees if you do not tell them. Lucky for me I read the list of terms and conditions on the sheets of paper the clerk flashed by me at check-in. I must say this is the first time in all my travels that I encountered the potential of such a charge.
Review 112:To the motel’s good points: a) the room was a nice size & clean; b) the continental breakfast was average with a nice attentive staff and c) the room was competitively priced for the season (May 29 & 30) and the motels near it.
Review 113:Bring your own pillow. The pillows on the bed were very fluffy and deflated to almost nothing when you laid your head on them
Review 114:Seemed like an old, slightly updated, but very clean, large room. The staff was very friendly. Great place for families with lots of outdoor activities on site.
Review 115:We didnt care for the bed, it was a lot harder than we thought it would be and the light coming in threw the Windows really made it hard to sleep.
Review 116:Loved the king suit, the jatted tub was great for the end of the day, And we loved the fire place.
Review 117:Hotel is very clean with friendly and knowledgeable staff. Each room is uniquely decorated. Some towels and tissues are beautiful folded for decorative purpose. Can borrow DVDs, games to play indoor, and outdoor activities with no extra cost. Will definitely stay at Murphy's resort the next time I am at Estes Park.
Review 118:Far walk to get ice and had to climb over stuff to find it. Key was very hard to work. Coffee that is provided in the room is terrible. No bar of soap provided...just liquid in the shower.
Review 119:Good sized room with two sinks. Nice and clean with good natural light.
Review 120:The ice machine was broken and had been for a while. There was no effort to provide ice to the guests.
Review 121:Staff were very friendly. Continental breakfast was good.
Review 122:I believe the girl at the front desk name was Eliza. She greeted us with a smile and made herself and the manager available should we need anything. Overall, our room was pretty great and the staff was amazing!! I mean who wouldn't love to stay at a place where the mountains was your view and the elk ran freely! Absolutely loved Murphy's Resort and would recommend it!! Well definitely be back!!
Review 123:One of the most comfortable hotel room we've ever had. Soft bed linens and bath towels. Perfect heating (we visited with very bad weather). Parking spot in front of the door. We had a room with lake view, excellent for elk-watching.
Review 124:We were so happy to find that the room was large, very clean, and that the mattresses were fairly new. We only stayed in Estes Park for one night, but wish we could have stayed longer. We didn't use the breakfast services other than coffee, since we had other plans for breakfast. The staff was friendly and accommodating. We appreciated having access to a computer and printer so we could check in with our airline and print out our boarding passes before heading to the airport. Thanks!
Review 125:The ice machine was out of order and the jet pump for the hot tub was also broken. We still enjoyed the hot tub being nice and warm after a cold few hours white water rafting. Very small things given the great staff and room accommodations.
Review 126:The staff was so friendly and welcoming! We received an unexpected upgrade on our room and we were so impressed my husband suggested we stay another night! They even matched the original rate for our cheaper room. My husband and I both work in retail so believe me when I say we truly appreciate people who provide great customer service. Thank you for helping make our 1st Anniversary a wonderful experience!
Review 127:The breakfast was a bit limited and it's all served on paper/Styrofoam with plastic utensils.
Review 128:Decent rooms, quiet. Could check out lots of movies and games.
Review 129:Suggest that the sign for the motel, be re-thought, as it hardly stands out, difficult to spot in evening light and doesn't present itself to standard that is the motel.
Review 130:Clean, well appointed.
