Reviews for El Camino Lodge

Review 1:The hot tub wasn't hot. Dealt with police through the night because of a huge, loud party in the room next door, waited forever for waffles in the morning.

Review 2:It worked for us. Okay location.

Review 3:The facility ran out of clean towels. Heater in one of our rooms was broken and ran the entire time, resulting in us sleeping with the door open in the middle of winter

Review 4:location and convenience

Review 5:this property needs sprucing up...and updated badly. most expensive place we stayed on a recent road trip and the most downtrodden of all.

Review 6:front desk lady was very nice

Review 7:The place needs some fixing up...but that takes time and money so it will be awesome once the owners manage that plus the excellent service already in place.

Review 8:The staff are extremely accommodating and kind. The facilities are obviously old and slowly being repaired but the excellent service and kind staff make up greatly for this greatly. They're quick and responsive to all your needs. Fantastic location right near the Taos Plaza and only 35min from the ski valley. Hot tub after a day of skiing was great. Breakfast was no-frills but for being an old motel was what I would expect. The housekeeping even laid out my son's stuffed animals on the bed for him when the room was cleaned. All in all a surprisingly pleasant stay despite some really negative reviews.

Review 9:I had asked for downstairs non-smoking. Got upstairs with no appologies.

Review 10:Rooms were OK, appreciated the fact that we were traveling as family and four adults were accepted in 2 queen size room.

Review 11:I would have like a stopper for the tub so I could have had a bath. And, it would have been nice to have a chair outside. But, nothing I really didn't like. I was pleased with my experience.

Review 12:I had a view of the mountains. And, it was quiet.

Review 13:Be sure to bring your own soap and shampoo unless you like Dial out of a dispenser. One pack of coffee bare minimum. Scooped jelly out of jar and margarine spread out of tub at breakfast.

Review 14:First of all.... Not 2.5-more like {-10000} negative hundred thousand!!1) Your ad is VERY misleading!! Beautiful picture a true lie! 2) I preordered through booking.com for a king-First room was 2 queens-they informed me that they did not even look to see what was rented; most people wants two queens.. Really?? A husband and wife would want two queen beds??!?? Second room, TV didn't work, THE locks didn't work, we called the desk and was told that they would get the "maintance man to fix things-they would call-I asked if this was going to be before dark-they said they did not know. We called again after over an hour-was informed he was at lunch break.... Really?? We demanded another room-which we got. We would have been better off sleeping on a board!! Bed was the most uncomfortable experience ever!! I should not have to pay for that-the room was NOT worth the price. Men yelling all night long-we went for a restful trip-not at this this!!!

Review 15:Absolutely nothing!! Do not stay here!!!

Review 16:Room not cleaned on arrival.only four towels in room.microwavedidn't work. Coffee pot in room, but no coffee to use with it,I hadto go to front desk to get coffee and was treated rudely by manager. Youdon't want to eat their free breakfast area was filthy dirty ragslaying around food and drinks, tables not cleaned, trash cans fulloverflowing.no nonstick spray for waffle maker or syrup if you could getwaffle out of the waffle maker. No one there to restock supplies, napkinsetc.,or food, then every one gets to share the community tub ofbutter, and jelly for your waffles toast etc.if your lucky to even findthe bread or muffins to toast.Extremely a unsanitary place to eat. Cabletv worked off and on all weekend. Staff and manager and owner wereuncaring in these issues not to mention rude. Horrible!!##!!

Review 17:Location

Review 18:They ran out of towels because there dryer broke. the sheets and towels were all stained up. The beds were so hard. The bathtub drain was clogged so it took forever to drain. The air conditioner was loud. Would never stay here again.

Review 19:Pet policy and the hot tub.

Review 20:Bed was comfortable but sheet wouldn't stay on the corners. Bathroom had dead bugs and cobwebs. Towels were very small and thin. One towel was torn almost half way across.

Review 21:Convenience and staff very pleasant!

Review 22:Old, rundown, pics on website make it look better than it is. Cheap but not cheap enough for what it's like. I felt like I was in the hotel from My name is Earl. The staff was nice though

Review 23:I was not there long The staff was nice.

Review 24:The first room they put us in reaked of smoke even though it was supposed to be non-smoking, so we requested a different room. Second room was much better but the pillows were all mis-shapen and different sizes and looked like they were used for the past 10 years, one pillowcase was even inside out (dont want to know why). We both slept with towels over our pillows. The sheets werent fitted and didnt even cover the bed, i refused to pull any sheets or blankets over me and froze all night. They had very fee towels in the room and the way they were hung made me wonder if they even cleaned the room from the previous stay.

Review 25:The staff was courteous, friendly, and accomodating.

Review 26:they never fixed the drain in tub, the door was wide open after our return to room about 2: am. house keeping NONE !! SORRY VERY DIASAPIONTED !! NO CLEAN TOWELS NO TRASH PICKUP. FELT VERY UNCOMFERTABLE !!

Review 27:Price.. Room paint was in need of repair, Pool was at an unattached location.. Breakfast room was small and over crowded.. Couldnt connect to secured WIFI, Wifi unsecured kept disconnecting every 5 min.

Review 28:room was comfortable, clean albiet a bit run down..

Review 29:Did not say that we had to ask for coffee to be supplied by staff. Had to use soap dispensers to wash our hair - No shampoo & conditioner supplied. Coffee pot in room no - coffee supplied. For the $10.00 cheaper could have gotten better service at Days Inn.

Review 30:The beds were comfortable & close to the festival

Review 31:The rooms were ok, the floors were dirty. We actually found a nasty old toe nail on the carpet floor. The pool was milky and didn't look cleaned for months

Review 32:Checking out!

Review 33:Property is trashed. Debris all over parking lot. Ripped up carpeting. Unidentifiable stench in room. They tried to not refund me for the second night when I checked out after the first

Review 34:Front Desk people were pleasant

Review 35:Easy trip to ski valley. Clean. Basic. Free wifi/bfast/pool/hot tub. It's a good place to stay on a budget and next to the things to do in Taos.

Review 36:Wifi would not work. Asked the guy in the front about the wifi issues a few times nothing was done about it.. when we arrived he said our rooms were ready and clean, we ended up having to wait an hour because they were still dirty and torn apart!

Review 37:Heated Pool and Hot tub! Great location! Quiet

Review 38:Breakfast had nearly all carbohydrates, few fruit, one choice of protein - hard boiled eggs. Price was very high for mid-range lodging

Review 39:Nice view of the mountains.

Review 40:Receptionist was rude, lobby was dingy, pool area cold and not particularly clean. Did not want to hang out in jacuzzi. Heater in room would not shut off and we could not lower the thermostat-- had to open the door to 20 degree weather to cool it off.

Review 41:While visiting, my wife asked the front desk man if we could move my brother next door to us. he was on his cell phone the whole time she was talking to him. he also informed her that a hockey team was coming, and when we woke the next morning the room next door was still vacant. the free wifi never reached either my brothers room nor mine.

Review 42:Room not vacuumed. Towels arrive in the p.m. Overall poor maid service. Maintenance requests ignored. No Movie Channels. Long wait for waffle maker. Long (outdoor) walk to indoor pool/hot tub.

Review 43:Big Room. Jetted Tub in the Room. Nice Continental Breakfast. Great Location.

Review 44:The parking lot was plenty of ice, you could barely walk. The room service left new towels but they did not make the beds. The last night the lock stopped working, I had to go to the manager several times to say that I was locked outside, and he kept recoding my key, but the problem was in the lock. Finally, he sent somebody to check the lock, they seemed bothered at me, he changed the lock and went away without giving me new keys and locking me outside again. The morning coffee was almost just hot water. At 8:00 there were no breakfast items, I had to wait to get some food. This hotel was managed in the past by a Mexican family and it was just great until the new managers took the job.

Review 45:Smells like smoke and mold. Walked into room and knew at that moment that this was not a place I wanted to rest my head for the next three nights. Walked up to front desk and asked to cancel my reservation but was told I would be charged for the first night regardless. I spent a total of one minute in the room and it cost me $99. Very unprofessional if you ask me.

Review 46:Nothing

Review 47:There were stains on the sheets and pillowcases. There was trash and toy car under the dresser. There was a used razor and black hair still in the shower. No bars of soap or shampoo. Towels were like hand towels. The beds were on some sort of wooden box spring with metal sticking out of the side. A bullet hole patched up in the wall. Overall, tried not to think about it and stuck it out because all other hotels in town were booked... trust me I checked.

Review 48:The man who was at the front desk (who probably was also the janitor, manager, owner and cook) was pretty nice. The heater worked. Yay! And, I actually felt the Taos hum... probably due to the fact that I was in some sort of altered state from the shocking conditions of the motel... but felt it nonetheless. :)

Review 49:They didn't have toilette paper in the bathroom nor tissue paper. One day my bathroom was not cleaned! They don't have enough space/area for breakfast, nor personal to keep the hotel running with quality

Review 50:Because all the rooms face the outside, there was no way to take advantage of the indoor pool AND make it back to the room without freezing in the cold. However, that's a small price to pay for such a great experience!

Review 51:We were stuck in Taos after our car broke down. The staff drove my grandmother, who can't walk very far, to the handicapped accessible room because it was too far for her to walk and we had no car of our own. They were helpful the next day with late check out, and recommended places with delivery for dinner.

Review 52:no coffee in the room no shampoos, etc in the room outdated decor of the room check in staff seemed like they weren't really sure what they were doing. When I checked in two other people in two separate rooms came and said that someone else was in their room and had to be reassigned.

Review 53:location

Review 54:Long walk into downtown. Poor breakfast.

Review 55:Good sized room with comfortable beds and decent ensuite. Excellent indoor pool. Attractive Spanish décor in and around reception.

Review 56:public computer, (very slow) pm front desk staff indifference. Door to our room did not lock from outside (lock was broken) ......we had to move to another room next door.

Review 57:pool, spa, and breakfast.

Review 58:The carpet was worn, torn, dirty, and definitely needed replacement. I did not want to go barefoot in the room.

Review 59:Staff were very friendly and accommodating.

Review 60:Location, location, location. This inn is located about a mile from downtown Taos square, art galleries, shops, and more. The staff recommended the Station Grill a few blocks toward downtown - great spot for your evening meal. The indoor pool and hot tub were good after a long day sightseeing. The free breakfast is minimal but covered most of the basics. After turning in at night I heard no noise from the parking area, which was indeed a bonus. Overall, a recommended place to see Taos and get you started on the Enchanted Circle.

Review 61:There was no crib available as requested. It was a little difficult to baby proof the room (i.e. outlet covers were falling off). Towels were not always available for the pool. This hotel was further from the plaza (i.e. all the places to eat, things to do) than we'd realized; it wouldn't have been a problem, except there are not sidewalks the entire way, so it was tricky to walk with a stroller. The clerk who checked us in was not friendly or understanding of our needs.

Review 62:The breakfast staff was nice. Continental breakfast was consistent. Inexpensive.

Review 63:The bathroom curtain pole fell on my shoulder as it was not fixed with screw to the wall. Luckily no harm and I usually jinx it in....

Review 64:Close to restaurants and city center. The Mondo Italiano restaurant is across the street and has wonderful staff & food. Room with 2 convenient queen beds was tidy. The room interior is a pleasant surprise after aeeing the hotel exterior.

Review 65:When we got there we did not have any coffee, etc... did not have a privacy sign, nor a bag to put our durty laundry in, the beds were hard as the ground. We never got to sleep in late because the cleaning crew was so loud with the shopping carts outside of our room that we could hear every move they made. We never got fresh towels, kleenex or toliet paper, plus they never came in and emptied our trash we stayed for 3 days and after two days there was so much trash I took it out because it was beginning to stink! I had to go ask for more to toliet paper and kleenex what is the staff getting paid for and what was my room fee paying for if I was going to have to wait on my self in my on room I think I should have got some of my money back. The times for breakfast ended at 9 a.m. which was to early we never got to eat..... for the cost of the facility I will never stay there again and will never recommend this facility to any of my family or friends.I have stayed in several in my lifetime and this by far was the worst one.

Review 66:too many splashing kids in pool but that's to be expected at a family place. we would have liked an adult time!

Review 67:good location and convenient. smiley faces at front desk

Review 68:Checked in got room key went to room guy standing in room with curtains and door open. Back to office second key went to dark room opened door to security lock. Guy comes out and I start to apologize. Back to office third time I asked if someone would go make sure room was empty. It was.

Review 69:Pool and hot tub

Review 70:The free breakfast was a little small, but so was the dining area. Maybe needs eggs and sausage with it.

Review 71:This place was very good for a restful sleep. Only spent one night , but it was a good set up. Clean room and quiet surroundings. Staff was very helpful and courtious.

Review 72:Bathroom light did not work properly, when you flipped the switch it would take anywhere from 5 seconds to over a minute to come on. Carpet had 3 big stains on it. Dead bolt lock did not work. We stayed for 4 nights and had to go get toilet paper and towels because they only cleaned our room on the third day because I complained. We went with numerous family members and we all had problems with the cleaning if our rooms. We all decided we would not stay there again. We usually go once a year for a week

Review 73:Location was good

Review 74:the mattress needs some help. seemed worn out.

Review 75:new owner has made many upgrades and cleaned the place up well.

Review 76:The breakfast is So so, very simple, not much choice

Review 77:Dirty sheets...paint off the wall.. Shower handles almost to fall off.base board sticking out...had to wait for coffee.
