Reviews for Sagebrush Inn & Suites
Review 1:Outside temp was 12 degrees. Room had no heat turned on. Room was 50 degrees. It took until 4 AM to get the temp to 70. Went to bed wearing three layers. I had reservations. Room should have had heater turned on upon my arrival. I slept in my winter coat over 3 layers of clothes.
Review 2:Breakfast
Review 3:We stayed at the hotel during our family ski vacation. It takes about 35-40 min to get from the hotel to the Ski Valley. The room was neat and clean, beds comfortable. The staff (everywhere at the front desk, bar and lobby area, breakfast room) was very kind and helpful. Breakfast was great with good variety and always fresh. Live music in the bar/restaurant. Homey atmosphere!
Review 4:Only minor issue I had, was the location of the A/C unit being too close to the second bed.
Review 5:They were very attentive to all of our needs or questions. Very friendly staff with priorities on their guests, and their breakfast was an amazing value!
Review 6:Did not like the outside walkways to rooms and facilities. Felt more like a typical roadside motel than an Inn.
Review 7:It was OK. Pictures do not tell the whole story! Restaurant waitstaff was friendly.
Review 8:Junior suite was a great room with fireplace and sitting area; very nice. Atmosphere at hotel was very pleasant; old southwest decor. Good breakfasts and hot tubs.
Review 9:The water pressure was pretty bad
Review 10:Loved the kiva fireplace and the balcony. Bed was comfortable and the southwest style very attractive. Good breakfast!
Review 11:Nothing
Review 12:When we had problems with our first room, we appreciated the way in which the staff responded. We enjoyed the Executive Suite and the breakfast was great.
Review 13:The restaurant; bad service, no information on food when asking a few gluten questions, no drinks refilled, breakfast was much better, eggs and potatoes were safe to eat for gf. So many travelers with food insensitivities, this is not the hotel for them. Keurig coffee makers in the room would be a big improvement, no one likes the old coffeemakers. The hot tub is outside now.
Review 14:The beds and pillows were great! Always a deal breaker!
Review 15:facilities need some upgrading on outside. No elevators and outside stairs in poor condition.
Review 16:Old world charm and a great breakfast buffet. Good location.
Review 17:We loved the spaciousness of the suite and the unique furnishings and tile work--it was not your standard hotel room. Although the rooms had been updated they still retained a lot of old New Mexico charm. The hot breakfast buffet was a pleasant surprise.
Review 18:Didn't like that there was only one mirror and the shower head only dripped water.......would definitely go back if these two items were corrected.
Review 19:Location, cleanliness, good food
Review 20:Outlets didn't work, TV had bad reception, steps to room looked unsafe, although the place being rustic was neat many repairs are needed to bring this inn up to par. I would stay here again but ask for a better room.
Review 21:Convenient location, liked sitting out on the balcony, big shower head and plenty of hot water for the shower, comfortable bed.
Review 22:They were so helpful with site seeing suggestions. And they accommodated us quickly when the Hampton inn couldn't honor our reservation due to overbooking at last minute.
Review 23:The swimming pool was a bit cool. I guess we are used to the indoor Aquatic center in Los Alamos.
Review 24:Most excellent breakfast. Room was quiet and cozy. The hot tubs are very nice. Wait staff is first class through the entire facility.
Review 25:The room needed mantainance. The a/c unit was dripping water on the floor, the toilet ran all the time and the sliding door was hard to open and shut.
Review 26:The breakfast was fantastic. The beds in the suite were well suited for a couple and a older child. The staff was very friendly.
Review 27:wouldn't call the breakfast " cook to order " it was buffet...although they could cook over easy eggs...not bad just typical buffet.
Review 28:Beautiful place and grounds... Ate in the restaurant...it was good.... and the staff was very nice and helpful Room was oversized with a kiva fireplace...awesome!
Review 29:Despite the fact that I reserved the room through booking.com AND I also called like 5 days before our arrival and both times I mentioned we were traveling with our 2 dogs, when we checked in, the girl in reception stated that they gave us a room that didn't accept pets. Thankfully, we were traveling during the week and it was the slow season and they were able to accommodate us, but I would have been nervous wondering what would have happened if the hotel had been full! We got a double room that was plenty big for us and our 2 dogs.
Review 30:I found this facility very comfortable. The hotel is very large, and they were able to accommodate us and our 2 dogs. The room is basic, no frills, but the bed was extremely comfortable, the ac effective and quiet, and the hotel as a whole was very quiet, despite being right off the major highway. My favorite part was the breakfast! It was more than just a continental breakfast. They had excellent scrambled eggs, french toast, red & green chili, fresh fruit & juices, all served in a wonderful dining room and all included in the room price.
Review 31:Bartender took 15 minutes to make 2 drinks so we could miss the happyhour ring up by 1 minute...& we were the only ones in the bar!!
Review 32:Free all you can eat home made everything for breakfast...EXCELLENTBreakfast!!!
Review 33:the second night we were moved to the annex, an old hampton inn, a real comedown.
Review 34:Authentic old southwestern inn..great outdoor areas, inner courtyard, patios.
Review 35:I liked that I could open the windows to get cross ventilation in our room, but when we opened the outer glass window there was no way to latch the inner wooden framed screen which posed a security issue. We were in room 109.
Review 36:Great price, the comfortable bed, nice free breakfast, interesting rustic history of hotel and friendly staff.
Review 37:We didn't have a bad experience other than a couple of snooty nonsmokers who had the nerve to get attitude when we were outside and downwind. Frankly there children were enjoying and loud and I truly do wishthat someone would create some adult only places like the Sagebrush forthose of us with adult vices
Review 38:We loved the atmosphere of the hotel. The fact that they had smokingrooms. The very comfortable bed. We had a small fireplace in our room sowe were able to snuggle in bed with a fire. The bartender in the lobbybar made excellent margaritas. Finally the breakfast buffet was verygood. I should mention also that Georgia O'Keeffe stayed in the Innin their only third floor room. Very cool historical fact. They alsohave lovely courtyards with chairs and tables.
Review 39:The housekeeping staff came in to our room even though we had left a door hanger saying we didn't want it.
Review 40:All the staff people were very accommodating to us and our golden retriever. We were even allowed to have him with us for our meals.
Review 41:Room not very clean. Also the table in the living room was tiny. Not enough chairs for 4 people. Very low water pressure.
Review 42:Hotel was very pretty outside
Review 43:The staff was indifferent at best. Not welcoming and actually off putting to defensive. I had notified way in advance in person and note on reservation that I had a dog and the room I was given did not allow pets. It was full occupancy so she had to stay in friends room. The sofa bed had holes , dirty sheets and was not usable.
Review 44:The breakfast was good. There is charm to the property but obviously under transition. The staff needs serious training and hospitality skills. I was finally granted a small refund since my dog was not allowed.
Review 45:Sagebrush Inn had lots of charm! Beautiful grounds/landscaping. Breakfast buffet was excellent. The staff were VERY accommodating. The Inn is priced appropriately as well.
Review 46:clerks could have been a little more inviting and friendly. Same for bartender.
Review 47:Quiet,clean,nice grounds, and breakfast area had lots of room and tables. We would stay again.
Review 48:Hotel was further from the center than we realized. Staff at check in was mechanical and one had chewing gum. There was no sense of graciousness. Property was lovely at one time. Needs work. Room was dark, had to few lighting fixtures. Breakfast was pretenious and not very good.
Review 49:Standard room is extremely small and dated. Not suitable for double occupancy.
Review 50:Staff was friendly and breakfast was a great experience. Friendly staff, good food, nice ambiance.
Review 51:The outside aesthetics are needing updates which make the property look delapitated. The southwestern themed room was okay. Location is not in walking distance to the plaza.
Review 52:The breakfast is great and there is plenty of selection for most eaters. The waitstaff are very friendly.
Review 53:Brian assisted us during check-in; very helpful information, showed a genuine interest in making sure we enjoyed our stay. The complimentary breakfast was the best I've ever had - what a buffet.
Review 54:Waited 25 minutes to check in squashed in small hallway. At dinner we NEVER saw our waitress once we ordered. People knocking at our door at 11pm telling us we were in the wrong room; we had a key for it and it was written on a map for us??? Paid for room with pool and mountain view; we had a view of parking lot ONLY. Since service is important to me; I WOULD NOT recommend
Review 55:rooms are old but set up well with a lot of space
Review 56:This hotel is located a little too far from the downtown area to be a good walking distance. It is a huge complex with many rooms and there was a lot of construction noise and mess, and general chaos. Hospitality staff including front desk rep, bartender, and handyman were quite rude. Our toilet was broken. We were overcharged for our stay, told we would hear from a manager about the additional charges, and then never contacted. Boo!!
Review 57:One of the hot tubs (there are 3) was nice, with a lovely mountain view.
Review 58:room was rather clean , except for used towel hanging from door and some hair left on one of the beds. Door was difficult to open and close. felt cheep. didn't stay for free breakfast.
Review 59:not much to like here. dated and dingy. at least wifi worked.
Review 60:Outdated, dark and somewhat dingy. The older building actually looked better than the building we were in. Also, no locking outside door! Not good! We were the first room on the first floor from the outside door. Unsafe.
Review 61:Bed was super comfortable and free breakfast was good.
Review 62:The room was on a slope and this contributed to the bed being uncomfortable. The a/c did not work correctly either and was very noisy.
Review 63:Nice bathroom and nice facilities
Review 64:That there was no staff on are side and none of the outside doors were locked anyone could enter with out key
Review 65:Staff at desk and breakfast room were great
Review 66:a little out of town but easy enough to drive to
Review 67:very relaxing and big room - big breakfast buffet. nice atmosphere big paintings in the breakfast room
Review 68:The bathroom had not been cleaned on our arrival. I had to clean the bath before use. The room was not made up the next day because my pajamas were left on the pillow! Didn't like the gratuity envelope left by management for the maid service.
Review 69:The outside of the building and the room was tacky. Not quite up to the standard I am used to. Also too far from town.
Review 70:breakfast. It was the nicest complementary breakfast I have ever had and I travel a lot
Review 71:The hot tub is small and crowded w families so never able to use it. The description of patio outside room was very misleading. Had to track down a chair to even sit outside but it is on the narrow pathway that joins the outside rooms. We were on the 2nd floor so each time someone walked by we had to move out of the way. :( The shower would go off and on from cold to scalding hot all in the space of 10 min. Plumbing needs to be redone throughout.
Review 72:beautiful mtn. view from upstairs room facing patio
Review 73:Room needed carpentry work, new doors, repair the ceiling, and make floor above more sound proof, so that we would not here every move my above us all night.
Review 74:King size bed was very comfortable and breakfast was good with lots of options.
Review 75:The water pressure in the shower could be stronger.
Review 76:Well worth the money we spent for it. Was surprised to have a big buffet breakfast and not just toast. The staff was very nice.
Review 77:Wonderful weekend to celebrate both our anniversary and my birthday. Food for breakfast and dinner were excellent. Staff was friendly and accommodating to our every needs.
Review 78:We arrived to find our booked room on the 2nd floor. It was a nice room and what we requested but we are seniors. Upon our request they very graciously gave us a ground floor room which was an upgrade at no additional coat. Very pleasant staff
Review 79:Our room was VERY tight. There was no plug in close to use my computer (I had brought an extension cord along). Also, the lightswitch to the bathroom was connected to the lights above the sink in the room, so in the night, both lights would go on. Fortunately I had a flashlight I could use not to disturb my husband.
Review 80:The area was very convenient and grounds clean. They had a wonderful breakfast.
Review 81:No hot water ; the upstairs guests sounded like a herd of elephants all night long. Someone started drilling at 8 sharp and the maid was knocking to clean the room before 9
Review 82:Rooms need updating in decor and plumbing.
Review 83:This a beautiful traditional Taos property with lots of character. Conveniently located. Friendly, accomidating staff.
Review 84:1) Secondary lock on room door did not work; 2) Faucet in sink impossible to turn on. 3) Toilet ran all the time 4) Edge of bed frame stuck out and we hit our llegs 5) Lighting was horrible 6) Front TV poor 7) Food in restaurant cold and poor quality. 8) Also, sinks in room too low for those with bad backs. We had reservations for 3 nights and only stayed one night due to these problems. Would not recommend to anyone.
Review 85:1) Staff was cordial 2) Breakfast was good 3) carpet in room was fine 4) Location good
Review 86:No water pressure in shower, sink hardware was not clean, walls are not sound proof, deck was a bit aged and did not appear structurally sound, bed is on a wood box.
Review 87:Slept well, breakfast was nice.
Review 88:The hotel is pet friendly, but you need to check if your room is. Our delux king sweet was not, but good thing we had friends in town it stayed at.
Review 89:The staff is really nice, I broke a lamp and they didnt charge me full price for it.
Review 90:The room was great, the heated pool and hot tub was fun on the cold nights, free breakfast in the dining room was really good, kids had fun playing in the snow on the hotel grounds after a snowstorm, great location for exploring Sipapu, Angelfire, and Taos Ski Valley ski resorts (as long as the weather cooperates - roads got icy one day and we stayed in), huge hotel grounds, small walking path with view of mtns out back, fire places everywhere and nice places to sit in the lounges, I could go on and on.
Review 91:Could do without the breakfast. Not enough fresh fruit and coffee is mediocre but French toast was good And wait staff are efficient.
Review 92:Loved the spacious room, decor and lovely kiva in the room and the views!
Review 93:Not exactly a minus, but one cannot walk to the center of town from this hotel. Bar staff was barely friendly, but drinks were generous.
Review 94:Spacious suite; generous, cooked to order breakfast; clean rooms; nicely decorated; fun lounge.
Review 95:The place is old, and in need of a general makeover. The housekeeping was substandard and I had limited results with the front desk, over my 12-day stay, to get this addressed. The WiFi service was very unreliable and frustrating. If these deficiencies are effectively dealt with, this motel could be a much better place to stay.
Review 96:The place has a great New Mexico ambiance and character, and has developed since the 1930s as lodging for road travelers. I started in an old room, but was later moved to a newer suite, due to a re-carpeting project. The sit-down breakfasts were far superior to any of the cheaper motel chains. I had three dinners at their restaurant. The pork tenderloin, and the salmon were very good. The steak fajitas were grissly. The restaurant staff were competent and personable. I based myself here on a ski trip, right after the holiday season, and it was very quiet.
Review 97:The room was very cold, approx. 50 degrees on a December day. We arrived at 3:00 p.m. and turned the heater on as soon as we walked in. We spent some time out exploring and when we arrived back at 6:00, the room was at about 60. We built a fire (thank goodness for the fireplace!) but the fireplace does not have a flue so the heat went up, not in. We called and received more firewood so we were able to build another fire in the morning. The heater unit in the bathroom did not even come close to warming up the tile floor.
Review 98:The room was roomy and clean. The fireplace was stocked and easy to use. The seating area was comfortable. Everyone - desk clerk, restaurant and bar staff, and security personnel - were very friendly and helpful.
Review 99:We had dinner reservations for 10 for New Year's Eve and were told to arrive at 8:30p because the kitchen closed at 9:00p. We arrived on-time, but were not seated until 9:00p. The wait service was really poor - our waitress was nice enough, but the service was slow, didn't check back with us enough, dirty napkins and wine glasses at the table...the food was GREAT and redeemed the whole experience.
Review 100:The hotel staff was very friendly and held our multiple bags until check-in so we could explore the town.
Review 101:Fold out mattress for my son was so old and worn out that it felt like pure springs. No hot water on the first morning. No toilet paper refill with cleaning.
Review 102:Staff was nice and helpful.
Review 103:Maybe updating carpets in the room would help?
Review 104:Good breakfast to start the day at the slopes. Bus to ski area right outside door. Nothing better then hot tub after day of skiing.
Review 105:Water pressure in bathroom is very low Internet is slow
Review 106:Fireplace Bed Breakfast Coziness of rooms Heating system worked wonderfully Character of buildings
Review 107:ROOM SERVICE - Didn't clean room for 2 days, had to ask for towels, toilet tissues, and make up our own beds, very poor tv reception even after the maintenance guy stated we're getting poor reception, shower in one room drizzled water from the shower head. Bath area and sinks were never cleaned the four nights we were there. Seemed to lack enough people to take care of the place during the holidays.
Review 108:Roominess, free breakfast, comfortable beds, parking, dinner
Review 109:WIFI barely worked in our room since it was on the edge of the property. Our room did not get cleaned one night during our stay. We tried to ask the front desk about a shuttle to TSV and were told sorry they did not know of any or even try to help us.
Review 110:Fireplace in our room was awesome! Complimentary hot breakfast was worth it. The location and view from our room was fantastic.
Review 111:I booked my room the morning of Thanksgiving as a last minute snowboarding trip and accidentally set it for the wrong night. We showed up a day late and the front desk guy, I believe his name is Enrique, fixed everything so that I was not charged for 2 nights and even gave us an upgraded room. And the breakfast was outstanding!! It was complete restaurant quality and filled not only me, but two 22 year old boys (which is saying a lot). I am definitely coming back next year. Thank you for the holiday spirit!!!
Review 112:Walls need repair. Heater clicked on and off every minute no matter how we adjusted it...had to use earplugs to sleep. Bathroom fan clattered loudly as well. Past time for renovation.
Review 113:Beautiful site with courtyard.Staff was interactive and helpful. Excellent breakfast. Good location.
Review 114:Loved it all
Review 115:Ambiance is wonderful- authentic decor and furnishings- adobe, kivas, lovely grounds. We had a spacious room with a fireplace- very enjoyable. Wifi fine. Location is very good- can avoid much of the downtown traffic. Delicious breakfast.Helpful, friendly staff. Wish we were there now!
Review 116:Our room needed a bit of work: tile grout crumbling around bathtub, one very thin blanket on the bed (on a night that was too cold) and slow Wi-Fi. However I understand that work will soon be done on the wing where our room was.
Review 117:Loved the very friendly and accommodating staff, the excellent full breakfast, and the warmth of the lounge.
Review 118:Don't be fooled by the overused "boutique hotel" moniker. This is a motor inn. A very nice one. It serves it's purpose well as a great, affordable location convenient to Sedona without being right in town. It was clean, breakfast was decent, surrounding scenery was exquisite. A great find!
Review 119:The wifi signal always seemed to be poor anywhere in the facility we were.
Review 120:the complementary sit down breakfast was very nice every morning and The housekeeping was great.
Review 121:Wifi didn't work and the front desk didn't seem like they had a minute to spare to help. Room and bathroom was a bit run down. Not enough pillows and blankets in the room.
Review 122:Style of the building was beautiful. I liked the large King sized bed and the beautiful inner courtyard. Cute dining room.
Review 123:We have stayed here a few times. Our room was small but very nice. Decor very pretty. Very clean. Breakfast option good choices. Food very good. A very pretty hotel. Highly recommend the Sage Brush Inn. Staff very friendly.
Review 124:We enjoyed our stay--loved the hotel and its beautiful grounds, excellent bedding, clean. Also loved the sit-down breakfast that was included in the price of the stay. Will definitely stay here again.
Review 125:Felt dumpy and kind of dreary. We paid more than we felt the place was worth. Needs updating. Wouldn't stay here again.
Review 126:Lobby with carved wood, etc. Breakfast was great, full service, several choices. Good location, signage could be more noticeable.
Review 127:Needs a good scrubbing. Windows in restaurant were so dirty. Welcome area as you walked looked neglected. Be very selective which building and room you get. Inspect room first!
Review 128:Rustic-ness.
Review 129:Room was not cleaned very well. Floor needed vacuuming, candy wrapper on floor and someones else's soap was left in the bath tub. Housekeeping corrected the situation. Ice machine did not work in our building. Again Staff corrected the situation as soon as it was brought to their attention.
Review 130:Made to order breakfast was great. Staff was friendly and efficient. All requests were addressed promptly.
Review 131:The location was a bit removed from the Plaza. (would a shuttle be a possibility?) The room cooler was difficult to regulate, being either too warm or cool, noisy, and thus unusable for more than a few minutes at a time.Would appreciate gluten-free options in the restaurant, etc.
Review 132:Loved the architecture, grounds, and ambiance, as well as the included breakfast.
Review 133:- Small room - Old bed and furniture - Small bath with separate washbasin - Wi-Fi was working intermittently - You can hear your neighbors - Very loud fridge and AC
Review 134:- Good breakfast - Nice decoration
