Reviews for The White House
Review 1:The facilities were awful. The bathrooms were disgusting, no hot water, very dirty... Just horrible. They are never cleaned and are basically in a concrete shed. The site is a throughfare for lots of locals to get to the beach. Every morning a jet ski company would dominate the beach at 7am and were very noisy for 2 to 3 hours. They woke us up a lot. At night the jet skis were taken off the beach with the same amount of noise. This is NOT WORTH THE MONEY, the place is a joke. Just terrible! The staff are quite indifferent to everything. We reserved a "beach front bungalow with a fan" we got a rickety old bamboo shack on a campsite with the HARDEST bed in the world. It was like sleeping on a yoga mat. Ok if you like roughing it then that's ok but not for the money we paid. You would expect to pay half.
Review 2:The restaurant was ok, we found a lot better when we hired a scooter and explored the island. Koh Yao Yai is a beautiful place.
Review 3:Their thai food wasn't great, but breakfast set was ok.
Review 4:Quiet area with the nice clean beach, bungalows right next to the beach, beer/alcohol available in the bar (not usual for Muslim island)
Review 5:Where to begin? if you're looking for a quiet, basic retreat, with good service, nice food and a peaceful clean beach don't go here. For starters the beach is dirty and very loud and polluted with diesel from boats so the water nips your skin and stings. In terms of the staff, I can't speak more poorly of them to be honest. Firstly, I don't mind limited English speaking in Thailand whatsoever, but for the hotel to advertise they speak English is absurd. Front of house do not speak English at all really and communication is very difficult. When arriving, I saw a woman making smoothies. She tasted it on a spoon, dipped it in COLD TAP WATER then put it back in the drink and stirred it. She then cleaned the jug with COLD TAP WATER straight from a hole in the wall. Absolutely disgusting and unhygienic to the max.As there is nowhere else to eat nearby, you need to eat at their limited menu restaurant. Once you've been served a drink and food, don't expect them to come back and offer you more. You need to walk across to them to the reception, even in torrential rain.Breakfast was DISGUSTING. I was given no option on what eggs i wanted and they, along with the tomatoes and toast tasted of fried fish. Clearly they don't clean their pans enough. It took me ten minutes to explain that i wanted tea, not coffee as i can't drink it, and a napkin as they are never provided with your meals. The lack of English and common communication is ridiculous. On arrival, staff had no idea who we were and we were shown a room with no keys given to us. The advert is a LIE!! There is no kettle or microwave. We had to change immediately because the bathroom was swarming with ants. After a room change, we had an awful night's sleep whilst something (possibly a crab or a rat?) attempted to get through the holes in the bungalow floorboards and through the poorly secured lino (basically lino laid on top of rubbish floorboards).
Review 6:Although the pier is very loud and the island very empty and boring in comparison to Ko Yao Noi, it is directly next to a pier so you don't have to get a taxi to get a boat to Phuket. There are umbrellas and chairs on the beach for guests to use. There are a lot less mozzies here than in other resorts i've stayed, but swarming with ants and flies all over you as you eat.
Review 7:The storm cut out the electricity in my bungalow for a day or so, but in a way it was nice to be disconnected from the e-world.
Review 8:A lovely set of bamboo bungalows where the beach meets the mangroves, right next to Loh Jark pier if coming from Phuket town. Family run by friendly folk, there was no noise and hardly another guest when I stayed in the low season. The owner even insisted I borrow her moped when I went to the shop at night which was kind of her. Also the island is one of a kind with its traditional ways and low amount of 'falang', Phi Phi was a massive shock after staying on Yao Yoi for 2 nights!
Review 9:I was forced to move to a different room for a higher price because their "cheap" room was indeed "cheap". I would recommend spending a bit more money on ANOTHER resort to get your money's worth. The location right next to the pier made it a very busy beach and the water was very dirty. The staff was friendly at a personal level, but with their overall customer service, they were not the best.
Review 10:Bungalows felt unsafe and on our booking it said we had a fridge, minibar, microwave and kitchen of which we had none of these! It also said the bungalow slept 11 when there were only 2 single beds.
Review 11:Amazing beach location which was pretty much empty! Sunset was incredible. Green Thai curry was also good and breakfast included in price.
Review 12:Beach and surrounding is dirty, full of rubbish. Quite expensive food.
Review 13:Very nice place and quiet, peaceful. Bungalows are on the beach, free umbrellas, great shower on the beach. Great food. Motorbike rent 300 Bhat. Good price for accommodation.
