Reviews for Nakamanda Resort & Spa

Review 1:There was nothing much not to like. Breakfast was a bit underwhelming, and drinks prices on the higher side (as is the case with similar establishments in Thailand). The room was comfortable and well maintained, but some of the wooden furniture could just do with a lick of varnish. Would be great to upgrade the sun loungers to something a bit more comfortable. But really, this is a very nice hotel.

Review 2:A lovely place with a boutique hotel feel, away from the crowds, but close to both lonely and lively beaches, so one is spoilt for choice. Nice, professional staff; beautiful, comfortable and private accommodation surrounded by tropical flora, in modern Thai style. Spa with very good service at comparatively reasonable prices. Extensive vegetarian menu, definitely a plus.

Review 3:All villas are situated in the garden so there is a lot of wild live there. You should accept that some lizards will be living with you. Also there should be a net in doors for mosquitos. Acctually becouse of strong outflows the hotel has direct access to the sea only a few hours a day. The beach is rather small, but with 2 min walk you can reach nicer beach. There are many stairs in the hotel which might be inconvinient for families with children in strollers. We had the villa next to the pool and spa so we didn't bother.

Review 4:Excellent service, professional but friendly, taking great care about each guest. Our needs were addressed before we even ask. Staff attitude is perfect. What we also liked is the pool - spacious with warm water. The hotel is very calm, there are only couple of guests so its a great place is you want to relax. There are many Thai restaurants nearby so you have a choice, however hotel's restaurant Kitchen is worth trying. The same is spa. Both are at very reasonable price to quality ratio

Review 5:We went during a very quiet time which should mean that the staff would be extra attentive or they would give you the better rooms of your category - both of which was not the case. There were really hardly any people at the resort and still we waited forever for our breakfast (which was not buffet - we assume because of the low occupancy) and at reception we would also wait very long until actually attended. When we asked for support to arrange transport to our next destination the staff only offered totally overpriced private transfers. The rooms are spacious but are definitely in need of a renovation, which is not due to the weather conditions but insufficient maintenance! Food at the restaurant not great.

Review 6:Spacious rooms, nice pool. Restaurants and bars in walking distance.

Review 7:The only problem was the number of stairs to our room. It was fine because we're young but if you're an older couple with knee problems, then this could be an issue.

Review 8:We booked 4 nights at Nakamanda after doing a week of island hopping and staying at some terrible hotels. Nakamanda was absolutely gorgeous and the pictures don't do it justice. The room was spacious, clean and the air conditioning worked perfectly. The staff by the pool and restaurant were very helpful and friendly. There were also a couple of great places to eat across the road from the hotel when we wanted to try something different. The ocean was right in front of the hotel and there were some rocks but the tide would come in and cover them or we could walk a little ways down the beach to go in the ocean.

Review 9:Bath tube was not working correctly, food in restaurant (lunch) was not very good for its high price, location far away from everything but if you just want to relax the location is very good!

Review 10:Staff was very helpful and service-oriented, facilities and spa were very good, nice rooms, location far away from everything but if you just want to relax the location is very good!

Review 11:Bed a little bit to hard

Review 12:WIFI breakfast & caffe latte Excellent lunch Great pool Nice service over all espeacially at the pool and restaurant Very quiet & relaxing

Review 13:This is first time to Krabi and Nakamanda. We are lucky that we pick the right place to stay for 3 nights. Staffs are nice and friendly, also very helpful. The Resort not very close to the city, but easily to take taxi and tuk tuk with about 30 - 40 mins to there. If you enjoy the peaceful and silent, you will love this area. Their SPA is our favourite too, reasonable price and good service. Swimming pool size is good enough for fun. Their beach actually not very good for swim, low tide in the morning high tide in the afternoon. But we take advantage of low tide to take a lot of photos and playing the drone camera on the beach. In fact, there are a lot of islands out from the shore, which are much worth travel there to find out the nature. In conclusion, we highly recommend Nakamanda Resort & Spa.

Review 14:Service was just not upto standard. We stayed 2 weeks and eventhough staff was very helpfull they where just not trained for a 5 Star hotel. It could be so good but it wasn't.

Review 15:Beautiful settings and location. Rooms where great

Review 16:None

Review 17:Friendly staff. Large accommodation area including spacious bedroom, excellent dressing room and bathroom and outside room overlooking the sea. Beautiful location

Review 18:The hotel gym was really small and missing some major machines. The dinner was just ok but there are some good restaurants across the street.

Review 19:The staff is incredible and the grounds are lush and beautiful. Also, we truly loved our room!

Review 20:Pool needs a renovation.

Review 21:Right next to the rear entrance leading to the beach, there are longtail boats available heading to Hong Island and other islands which is very convenient compared to other travel agencies' packages. Theirs always start from AoNang Pier which is anohter 20 minute + 500bht drive.

Review 22:Beach quite dirty. But likely due to a storm just prior. Bed mega hard. Would rate the resort 4 star at most. Seems like a lot of it has fallen into disrepair and upkeep hasn't well... Kept up cosmetically.

Review 23:Quiet.

Review 24:Lizards, mosquitoes and snakes all around. Poor location. Kids have never been so bored like they were here. It's a pure honeymooners resort. Zero activity for the kids.

Review 25:Pool and room were the only two good things.

Review 26:The sound of the air conditioner is very loud. We sleep not very well for the first night. The close time for Spa is too early.

Review 27:The room is very big! I like that every room has a terrace( a sofa bed) that have a plenty of space to spent during the day time. We booked a transfer from airport to hotel and the driver wait for us for 3 hours due to flights delay, the staff are very nice.

Review 28:Location. Not much activities around. Very quiet neighborhood. It's around 20 mins ride to Ao Nang beach but nothing much there either. Good if you only plan to lay by the pool/beach and do nothing really. We prefer the bustling night scene at Phuket. The massage opposite this resort is also charging double the price of Ao Nang beach.

Review 29:Nice villa.

Review 30:Hotel is spread on a hilly area so there a re many stairs to go down or up. It is not a good poing for disabled people ( do not recommend ) and if you are using a buggy for small kids. In both cases living in this Resort is difficult. If you need to go to Ao Nang you need to take a taxi both ways which will cost you another 20-30 USD.

Review 31:We liked atmosphere and attendiveness of all Staff. Nice and comfortable rooms but all looks a bit worn. Swimming pool is big and nice, cleaned and comfortalbe for all users.

Review 32:-breakfast and food quality very average - somewhat cut off from the activities found in the more popular beaches

Review 33:- scenic views - lush landscaping - attentive service

Review 34:Just one little detail: the air conditioner was right above our bed and blowing at us cold dry air. It was more or less OK though when we set the fan to a minimum and the temperature at around 27 degree Celsius.

Review 35:Super friendly staff, most romantic sunsets ever, nice big pool, very comfortable and practical rooms, resort not too big or overcrowded, and it has a lot of charm with all the lights and stairs and its architecture. The location is luckily (!) far away from mass tourism like at aonang beach, though you can get there if you like within 10mins by car/taxi, next to nakamanda is also a little shop and two or three restaurants nearby in case you don't want to eat at the hotels restaurant every evening

Review 36:Staff was superb going that extra mile to make sure you are happy. Facilities were super clean and the location was just perfect (the beach is very quite which is what we were looking for). Breakfast and food was very good and reasonably priced. The architecture is really good making each room feel like a house in it's own.

Review 37:No bad experience, but disabled people need to be aware that there are many stairs here.

Review 38:This is a perfect place to enjoy sunny Thailand - ocean, beach, tropical vegetation. It is also peaceful. We had a complete holiday where we got away from everything and hardly left the place. The staff is wonderful!

Review 39:The hotel is built in a shape that gets lower gradually, so if you get a room in one of the higher spots, you need to go through so many stairs to get back in the room and that can be annoying at times. Other than that, it was just perfect.

Review 40:What can I say, we had our honeymoon in Thailand and Krabi was our 2nd destination. We reached Nakamanda resort and were blown away with its surroundings. This beautifully designed hotel sits on a private beach in an extremely quiet area, unlike other areas of Krabi. The beach looks wonderful, very clean and its tide changes throughout the day and night. sometimes the waves almost reach the rocks beneath the restaurant that's situated just above the water, and sometimes they're far off the coast and you can take a nice walk into the sea since it's never higher than knee level. You have your breakfast right above the water, and the view is amazing. This hotel looks so good.. Also on that private beach you have a boat rental service which works good, and great for half day trips. The restaurant is very good with delicious breakfasts and a more delicious dinner menu, barbecues two times a week are highly recommended, we had some great grilled fish and beef, freshness and quality of meat, cheeses, fruits and vegetables should be noted, everything tasted simply great. The staff is smiling and generous, Book, who's in charge of the pool, is a great funny guy that was helpful and gave some good recommendations for activities outside the hotel. Restaurant and bar staff are so helpful and kind, great service is usual. Me and my wife had an unforgettable six day stay there and we will always remember that little piece of heaven. We'll definitely go back if ever visiting Krabi again.

Review 41:The fact that the hotel is advertised as being situated in its own bay which it is, however the bay rarely has water in it due to the tides. Too many krabs in the sands, makes swimming unpleasant. A bit pricey for Thailand, we felt as though we over-paid a bit.

Review 42:We loved the individual hut feel that the rooms give you - every room feels like its own house and the outside seating area is lovely for chilling in the early mornings/ evenings with a glass of wine. The swimming pool is gorgeous. Great private taxi pick-up service from the airport. The hotel staff also baked us a complimentary cake for James' birthday which was lovely.

Review 43:while passing through from the beach to the villa at a left side of a resort there was a permanent and quite strong smell of sewage. An SLH branded resort must have much better sewage facility. In the bathroom, on both sides of the bath tab, there are two water tanks with flowers that attracted lots of mosquitoes, suggest reconsidering this particular design option. It was very inconvenient and not even visually pretty. Because of these water tanks, there were more mosquitoes inside the villa than outside. Very poor breakfast for the resort of this status and price!

Review 44:resort is located in a secluded bay and provides a unique opportunity for a truly tranquil retreat. It has a very good spa with excellent products and very attentive staff to serve. Individual villas are nicely designed. Huge vegetarian menu at the restaurant.

Review 45:Well we loved it it all ;)!!even the hotel cats

Review 46:We loved it all !! The location, views, the people the villas, the sea and beach. Our breakfast hostess Ying is fantastic and the pool assistant Book can't do enough to help out! The reception area and staff are really professional and make you feel soecial!! The best part is that it's a cozy 5star secret

Review 47:Wifi did not work well in the room and too many stairs. Not a place for people with mobility problems.

Review 48:Very nice atmosphere and beautiful bungalows among a green garden. Staff very gentle.

Review 49:Some facilities need to be renovated. The floor tiles in my room are loosened.

Review 50:All staff are very helpful, friendly and efficient, especially the one taking in charge of the pool. A good and relaxing hotel in Klong Muang. Must ask for rooms in second floor which has good view.

Review 51:WiFi was not the best, Hotel lacked a little atmosphere and just needed tiny bits and pieces upgraded but nothing that would spoil your enjoyment.

Review 52:Staff could not do more to ensure you enjoyed your holiday and they took all comments personally whether good or bad. We loved our stay.

Review 53:Everything good but should warn others that there are a lot of quite steep stairs and not always with bannisters - not an issue for us and we even welcomed them for some activity but for older or less agile customers they could be a real problem

Review 54:Lovely atmosphere throughout the hotel, staff were extremely friendly and accommodating although their spoken English not always the best when ordering room service but with a little patience and humour we always got what we ordered and the quality of food always excellent.

Review 55:Rubbish on the beach Bit remote, expensive (for Thailand) transport Staff not trained properly Lizards and ants in the room

Review 56:Location, peace and quiet Facilities reasonably good Nice size villa Beautiful beach views

Review 57:Breakfast was a little repetitive Snakes (although they were beyond the resort's control) TV channles (no sports channels to watch tennis) Wi Fi was a bit flakey

Review 58:Room was lovely, big with a great bathroom (bath and shower)great. Service even better and the surroundings were beautiful. Relaxing by the pool was great, Book (the pool guy) was outstanding. He couldn't have been more helpful and interested.

Review 59:the resort is a little remote ,not many places to eat or do shopping ,without going into Ao Naung ,or Krabi .

Review 60:myself and my daughter stayed at the resort for 7 nights at the beginning off june, everthing about our stay at Nakamanda resort was perfect ,exellent staff ,beautiful massages at the resort , lovely beach ,nice food ,however very weak cocktails for the prices they were charging .

Review 61:Peacefulness, service and great staff

Review 62:A lot of steps

Review 63:Everything was great

Review 64:The staff went above and beyond. Beautiful resort.

Review 65:Not a single thing!

Review 66:Everything! Amazing place. Staff unbelievably lovely and helpful Stunning location. Stunning accommodation. Food excellent

Review 67:The most charming friendly staff .

Review 68:Service was flawless & facilities were excellent.

Review 69:The staff were wonderful and the location is idyllic.

Review 70:nice view and swimming pool

Review 71:Excellent service make me feel home

Review 72:a bit far from AoNang which need to taxi could provide more vareity breakfast

Review 73:the room and service is great. nice view of hotel

Review 74:Location and the food

Review 75:Hositality

Review 76:Mosquitoes (need to leave repellent vape turned on in the room at all times)

Review 77:Villa room, Swimming Pool, and beach deck (during high tide)

Review 78:Bed a little bit too firm for us

Review 79:Intimate hotel, good service and friendly staff

Review 80:nothing

Review 81:everithing

Review 82:Nothing

Review 83:Beautiful hotel : closed to beach and boat trips to islands with Boat Tail! High quality of services !

Review 84:hotel very clean,Comfort, wifi work very good ,and all staff were very nice

Review 85:Stairs

Review 86:A true 5 star hotel in 5 star location. The restaurant is good for breakfast and watching the sunset.

Review 87:Lots of steps..

Review 88:Great beach, awesome pool, amazing room.

Review 89:none

Review 90:nice environment, nice services, nice prices, nice room and nice breakfast, love it all, will be back next year.

Review 91:Small bugs found on new bed sheets.

Review 92:Good location with mini mart just outside.

Review 93:Rocky beach in front of the resort. Depending on wind and ocean conditions, the beaches and the water were full of plastic and glass garbage. Not possible to go into the water without shoes.

Review 94:Extremely nice and friendly staff. Acceptable English language skills. Small intimate resort. Nice guests. Some good and typical Thai restaurants just in front of the resort.

Review 95:Would be nice to have more eating choices however the this food available was very good.

Review 96:Lovely setup. Relaxing and well designed. Can just walk around to the beach stretch. Not commercial and great escape! The hotel provided complimentary taxi service to the Sheraton.

Review 97:The service at this hotel is EXCELLENT!! Absolutely amazing. We had an enjoyable stay overall. The pool was lovely, overlooking the beach. Great Spa. Like the other reviewers have mentioned, there are quite a few steps going up and down to get anywhere in the property. So this might be a problem for older people.

Review 98:Pool front grass is slightly not well maintained and there were a few leaves and dust in the pool when we swam there in the afternoon. The hotel could put in a more pleasant pool front and ensure the pool is always tip top clean!!

Review 99:Staff service was simply outstanding from start to finish. Appreciate their attention to details and willingness to do the extra mile. My gf asked them for a birthday cake at the last minute for a surprise during dinner. The staff managed to put it all together and brought us a nice cake plus candles with happy birthday written on the plate with molten chocolate. Service is definitely 5 star!

Review 100:There are a lot of steps - maybe good or bad. Not good for those that can't easily walk up & down the many steps around the resort. The bed was hard that it was uncomfortable to sleep in (if you are not used to this). Should train more staff to speak a little bit of English to communicate with the guests a bit easier. There were staff that can speak English but they should train more. Perhaps should also offer rooms that can accommodate small families eg with 2 children so that they can stay in 1 villa.

Review 101:The villas are spacious and well-appointed. We booked 2 villas (which was the last 2 remaining) and they were very accommodating to ensure that our villa was adjacent to our kids' villa. The staff were fantastic - had provided us with great service When we had a problem, they were quick to respond. They also made an effort to talk to the guests rather than wait for the guests to ask for what they need. My kids loved the swimming pool. While the resort was fully booked, it remained very private and don't seemed to be over-crowded. I think this is due to the resort not having too many villas/rooms compared with other resorts next door. The free wifi and having a library with internet and printer is a plus. It makes it easier to check-in online and print boarding passes. I highly recommend this resort, even for a family. But you need to book fast as there aren't a lot of villas in this resort.

Review 102:When I use breakfast, always bread machie has some problem. My bread got stuck of toast machine. So I cannot have warm bread in two days.

Review 103:Small but elegant. They have only 39 rooms. So You can enjoy quiet dining room and atmospheric pool.

Review 104:nothing really if you dont expect a luxurious 5 star hotel, it is more like a 4 star boutique hotel. We stayed for 5 nights to do a couple island trips and explore the Krabi area and then spend 2 nights at a more expensive resort to honeymoon.

Review 105:Really great value for money, it is a super small and friendly resort, not as luxurious as the Beyond Krabi next door but also half the price. Great views from room on upper floor, nice spacious balcony, nice room set up. breakfast was good, many dinner & shopping options right next to the hotel. The atmosphere at the pool was great cause it was never crowded. Staff was super friendly and helpful, they went out of their way to get us to Ao Nang pier during the thai new years celebrations. We booked a private hotel pick up from Ao Nang to the Hotel for 500 Bart with was absolutely worth it. Driver was super friendly, welcomed us with cold bottled water and cold towels. Staff went out of their way to make sure we had a great time! Spa prices were really great value for money too! Massages at spa were amazing.

Review 106:breakfast not excellent, forniture of the room not really well mantained for a 5 stars.

Review 107:very relaxing resort, very clean, polite and effective staff, wanderful sunset.

Review 108:The beach had lots of rubbish on it, no fault of the hotel. It did spoil the atmosphere on the beach though.

Review 109:Hotel was excellent, great food and cocktails! One of the best places I've ever stayed!

Review 110:I like that it has its own beach which has a clear view of the sunset. The staff was also attentive in their service rendered and able to communicate well in English. Overall, it has made us feel welcomed during our stay and the staff has put in extra effort to help in the area which we needed at times.

Review 111:The frontdesk looks very ordinery & since it is open area with no air conditioning, therefore when a guest reaches this resort he gets bit disappointed for his value for money. But soon it get ok.

Review 112:Excellent Staff, most beautiful beach just across the restaurant. Perfect woodent interiors that gives an amazing luxourious feel. Beach is much quieter & cleaner than Ao Nang. There are many restaurants around hotel within 500 meters.

Review 113:The location - there isn't much to do around the hotel

Review 114:The decor and cleanliness of the room was excellent. Staff were very friendly, we was greeted by all staff on passing. Restaurant staff were also very nice and offered excellent service. Food at the restaurant was nice, fair amount of choice available. The pool area is lovely! You get a very nice view of the sea whilst sunbathing. Absolutely loved our stay here, will definitely be returning for another relaxing holiday in Krabi!

Review 115:Wifi a bit unstable and slow but this is a very minor point

Review 116:Layout of the resort Staff efficiency and friendliness Large and clean rooms with lots of privacy Good value for money

Review 117:For a 5 star resort, Nakamanda lacked the top-notch service/facilities; the gym is very small and not ventilated; the service can be quite slow and not all staff speak English; pool/beach towels are old/need replacing.

Review 118:The location was great, clean and peaceful.

Review 119:Not place to be if you are interested in night life and parties, wi-fi is not that strong and old fashion air conditioning that we found quite unhealthy

Review 120:Beautiful small resort, customer friendly, very helpful staff with personal approach, nice rooms with spacious bathrooms and private terrasses

Review 121:Beautiful individual villa, very private and quiet location. Wide variety at breakfast and excellent service. Lovely spa. All staff throughout resort very friendly and nothing too much trouble. Would recommend to others and definitely stay there again if returning to Krabi.

Review 122:Five days went too quickly!

Review 123:Nice quiet location close to few other big resorts but at a cheaper price! The pool and setting were great, rooms very big and good balcony. The furnishing in rooms is slightly worn/tired but otherwise fine and traditional Thai style which we liked. Lots of restaurants close by on the road outside to choose from, the hotel restuarant food was very nice but more expensive than outside as expected. Great breakfast buffet included! Staff always polite and helpful. Overall had a great stay and would definayely come back again!

Review 124:Definitely room for improvement for cleanliness, house keeping. Exterior architecture has been very well maintained and if only the interior fit-out and furniture could be maintain better or improved. Didn't like too many insects in my room initially more insect repellant device is a plus point. I do not like the complimentary drinking water they provided, not to my friend and my liking. The bath room is a little too dark especially the W.C. area, lots of mosquitoes hovers around there.

Review 125:Absolutely friendly smiling staff. Love that they provided a beach bag for guest in the room, definitely a personalized touch. Love the patio, the sheer drapes, day bed, Thai cushion, cloth hanger and the I violet light to keep away insect. Love the size and the space planning of the the room and if only we had a better view. The spa has pretty good standard and quality. There are boat service at the resort's beach front that directly bring you to the desired island you wantr to go and it will bring you back to the resort's door step, certainly great convenience.

Review 126:Not much of a beach directly in front of the resort. A short walk andyou'll find a better stretch of sand to enjoy.

Review 127:The staff / spa services were excellent. It's a very intimateresort experience .. If your looking for the mega glitz .. Not the place.. The resort is more a understated sophisticated & private. Thefood at the in house restaurant is very good also.

Review 128:perhaps a bigger bar area would be good.. but it was still fantastic.

Review 129:the staff were wonderful at every aspect of the hotel. the spa staff were very very good at their job! so relaxed!

Review 130:Access to rooms for handicap people - wife was handicapped for a dayafter foot injury from sea urchin

Review 131:Service , staff, quietness, location, pool, food

Review 132:Remote from Ao Nang. More relaxing but taxi is needed (600-700 baht). Abenefit or a drawback depending what you are looking for.

Review 133:Exclusive and calm hotel. Great bathroom and amenities. Coffee machinein room. Vegetation between villas gives privacy. Awesome staff. Goodpool and restaurant. 4 PCs available for surfing the web. Private beach.I Highly recommend this hotel.

Review 134:Spent a week here and the setting was lovely. From the meet and greet on arrival to our departure it really was service with a smile. The accommodation was great no cross noise from other properties, just a great relaxing time. Would rebook without a doubt! A++

Review 135:Breakfast good, but the same thing each day.

Review 136:This is a wonderful resort that is small, personal, and quiet. Our room was perfect and the bathroom was just amazing. The bathroom brings the outside into the room with lot's of natural lighting. The bed was so confortable and the internet was fast. Great pool and the staff was always pleasant and greeted you with a smile. At low tide you can walk to the island that blocks the resort from heavy waves. The guests are mostly international and there to relax. Not many children which was actually nice. Staff was very helpful when I couldn't figure out the VDO. Good restaurants nearby and easy to get Tuk-Tuk to just about anywhere.
