Reviews for Appenzell Inn
Review 1:The hot tub never got above 90 and the jets didn't work. Not good when you stay in January and want to hot tub after snow shoeing.
Review 2:Great new rooms! Swiss decor was wonderful.
Review 3:The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The gentleman who checked us in and out was really nice and very friendly. This was a wonderful hotel!
Review 4:No tea packets provided in room, only coffee. Bathroom is a little cramped. Tile floor slippery when feet are wet. Checkout instructions not provided at check-in.
Review 5:Good sized room. Quiet. Hot tub and fireplace. Kitchenette. Clean and fresh looking. Curtain divider between bed and sitting area is a really nice touch as is the bar with stools.
Review 6:The web page did not do our condo justice. It was absolutely wonderful (very large) and so comfortable. Definitely looking forward to visiting this summer when it's warm. We did enjoy the inches of snow that fell though!
Review 7:Signage. Drove right by the hotel without seeing the sign for the hotel. Did this even though we were looking for it.
Review 8:The quiet. Friendliness of the staff.
Review 9:Loved the room layout. Was specifically searching for a room with a big bath tub and this room had it!! Great for relaxing! We went in the winter (slow season) so it was wonderfully quiet.
Review 10:Stayed over the holiday. No staff was available in the building after 5pm. However we were able to check in late and got into our room with little issue.
Review 11:Cute, quaint location. Enjoyed the scenery vey much as well as the intimate closeness to the wildlife walking just outside our room.
Review 12:Two minor things: 1) The electronic card swipe door locks could use a label indicating which way the magnetic stripe faces. The exterior patio/deck entrance isn't extremely well lit (which is generally a good thing) but I had to try multiple times swiping the key card to gain entrance; Something to the effect of "Magnetic stripe faces ->". A minor detail but we chose a particularly windy evening to arrive and couldn't get in to the room and out of the wind fast enough. Once we figured out just how to hold/swipe the card, it wasn't a concern the rest of the time. 2) Two light bulbs were burned out when we checked in; one over the bathroom sink, one in front of the closet.
Review 13:Location near town, covered parking, complimentary continental breakfast and bottled water, coffee always available, friendly staff, clean rooms with excellent appointments like fireplace, jetted tub, and kitchenette. We took advantage of their complimentary DVD movie collection on several occasions to use with the room's generously-sized TV and DVD player. There's an indoor pool and an outdoor hot tub too. Great place to stay and would definitely stay here again. Weekend before Thanksgiving was uncrowded.
Review 14:Their cancellation policy is unforgiving, especially given that the condition of the road through the National Park is unpredictable.
Review 15:When we arrived, we asked for a view, and the staff upgraded us with no charge. Their breakfast nook provides a beautiful view of the sunrise over the mountain.
Review 16:I picked this hotel based on the fact they had a restaurant on site and upon check in found out it was closed for the season. That was not apparent on the website at time of booking.
Review 17:Shower was too small...full size adult cannot bend/turn. Facilities were closed during our stay---pool/ restaurant.
Review 18:Staff was friendly, rooms clean and spacious. Location near to all activities without being in the hustle/bustle of the town.
Review 19:Perfect location, comfortable bed, great shower and bathroom facility, very basic but adequate breakfast, elks in the neighborhood which made for a fabulous stay in a lovely setting!!!
Review 20:The heater did not work in the living room but we had a fireplace. The fridge was on the lowest setting and still froze everything in it.
Review 21:the location, cleanliness and the price
Review 22:We enjoyed the friendly welcome and the knowledge of the staff to lay out excursions for us. The room was great; comfortable, clean, roomy...and the jacuzzi tub topped it off. The location is close to town (10 minute walk) and a short drive to RMNP. The view of the snow capped mountains from our room was great. They also have a mini laundromat on site to wash & dry your clothes. The continental breakfast was well stocked and had a good variety of foods to choose from.
Review 23:Room was small and had no view. The shower and tub in the middle of the room were not easy to maneuver and took up a lot of the room space.
Review 24:Proximity to everything we wanted to see.
Review 25:Very romantic room - jacuzzi tub, lots of space for two 60+-year old honeymooners. Nice patio with excellent view. Unfortunately can't show your that view because photos are on my phone, not this computer. And not expensive off-season in October.
Review 26:Nothing
Review 27:The grounds and property were immaculate, the pool and hot tub and facilities were spotless, the room was very nice, and the staff was the best!
Review 28:that we did not have a mountain view from the room. That the restaurant was closed, that the snacks were cheap. the staff could have been more friendly. Nick was the friendliest.
Review 29:They clean room, the view from the top floor balcony, the jetted tub, the fireplace.
Review 30:Stayed in former owners apartment, beautiful space with every possible amenity. Well equipped kitchen, great view, lots of places to sleep, fireplace!!! We had a blast.
Review 31:Great room with terrific amenities included with the kitchenette. Much more than just a fridge and microwave. Evening desk staff was extremely helpful and friendly.
Review 32:Been traveling for many years. As clean and nice of room as you will ever find. Stayed on second floor it was noisy as floors squeak. Would recommend staying on top floor. Will definitely stay again.
Review 33:the continental breakfast was pretty minimal
Review 34:Snacks & water provided-- a thoughtful touch, as many guests, like me, were in the area to hike in the nearby Rocky Mtn Natl Park
Review 35:The breakfast wasn't very good. ended up going somewhere else for breakfast.
Review 36:The staff was very pleasant, the room was nice and it's a nice location. The bed was very comfortable.
Review 37:Pretty pricey, but about what would be expected for the area and time of year. We wanted a specific room, so expected to pay for it. Parking is a problem after 8-9pm if the hotel is full.
Review 38:Great staff. Snack basket is a treat. Very accomodating with room request.
Review 39:The bed was not as comfortable as we would have liked.
Review 40:Loved the fireplace and spa tub in the room. Loved the outdoor fire pit and the location of the hotel.
Review 41:The communal room which housed breakfast was uninviting and too small for the number of guests.
Review 42:The room itself was very comfortable, clean with excellent self-catering facilities. The views from the terrace were beautiful.
Review 43:The loud talking outside our door, the smell of the cigarette smoke from our neighbors until 2:30 AM. Yes, they were celebrating they but sure were inconsiderate. I did call management though it said on the recording the office was closed. If an emergency dial... They quieted down but it picked up again until 3AM.
Review 44:The place was impecably clean and well maintained. Staff was helpful. We stayed 3 nights.
Review 45:Our dinner at the small Appenzell restaurant was a disaster. One large party of 18 dominated the room and made a LOT of noise. Could not wait to finish and leave. Would never eat there again.
Review 46:Excellent 2-BR apartment with shower and jacuzzi in large bathroom. Good view. Everything worked fine and my friend and I felt pleasantly spoiled.
Review 47:My only complaint was that The mattress was very uncomfortable and old.
Review 48:We loved the theme of the inn. Our view was breath taking. The young man who checked us in was very friendly and knowlagable. He let us know the hot tub may not be warm due to cleaning earlier in the day.The kids loved the pool. I liked that there were showers at the pool. The jetted tub was so relaxing.
Review 49:Lovely comfortable hotel in beautiful surroundings. We had a really nice room with mountain views and could sit out on the terrace and admire the scenery. We had a really enjoyable three nights stay.
Review 50:The breakfast was not very good. Cereal was the best option. The bathroom could be updated but it's still very nice.
Review 51:The location of this hotel was perfect. It was so close to town but far enough away that it wasn't crowded. The room was very comfortable and cozy. I loved the fireplace in the room. The tub in the room would have been nice if we were not traveling with an infant. Will be staying again.
Review 52:We had 3 nights in room 12 where it was extremely clean and had everything you would want but it was very small and crowded and no view.
Review 53:We had 2 nights in room 26, first floor where there was a kitchenette and had huge shared patio. Loved that room and the view was fabulous.
Review 54:Our room had a balcony looking out over the town and mountains. Everyone was extremely friendly and helpful, right down to the owner's son who helped us change a tire. The restaurant was very good, nice wine list. The pool and hot tub were clean and well designed.
Review 55:There was a child running around in the room above us who woke us up numerous mornings at ungodly hours. We complained and they said they spoke to them but nothing changed so we left a day early.
Review 56:Cleanliness and location.
Review 57:The rooms were extremely dated and not a great value for the price paid. It was the most expensive hotel on our trip but yet had the most shabby and small rooms. Bathroom was small and shower was located behind a curtain in the bedroom area which was inconvenient. Would have been nice to have a mirror and desk area in bedroom area so multiple people could get ready at the same time. Breakfast -cream cheese was curdled, toaster broken, everything else was average.
Review 58:staff were nice, complimentary water bottles was a nice touch
Review 59:The breakfast needs to improve.
Review 60:Lovely room with amazing views and very friendly staff. Only 15 mins walk to the town (free shuttles run past the hotel if you don't fancy the walk!)
Review 61:Loved the location and views of the hotel. The staff was extremely nice and helpful with any questions we had. Overall, a great place to stay. We will be back!
Review 62:Chose to stay at your establishment as a surprise trip for my sweeties50th birthday...made many arrangements. However, come the birthdaynight...the restaurant was poorly staffed, food was not prepared well, most of our meal was missing and the waits were unreal! Had a 6:30reservation that I made weeks in advance and they knew nothing about it.Was supposed to have a birthday cake with at least 20 candles on thecake, and got a slice of a brownie with 1 candle.... Very disappointing!
Review 63:Our room was wonderful, clean and welcoming!
Review 64:The view from my room was not great. Some rooms had great views.
Review 65:It was an older motel but they have remodeled the place. The room was small but well land out. They used every inch of the room. The bed was comfortable. The room was clean. I enjoyed having a couch in the room and the coffee table on wheels was nice. It was a good place to stay.
Review 66:The room was cozy and comfortable, and the water and granola bars were a nice touch. I also appreciated that our key and a map to our room was left out for us, as we arrived late, after desk hours.
Review 67:We loved the location, and the staff was friendly and accommodating. The rooms were very nice, and they tried to think of all the little things to make our stay more pleasant, like extra pillows and blankets.
Review 68:Although Appenzell is tightly nestled between two other Inns, you still get the feeling you're in this quaint secluded setting. The staff was very nice and very accommodating to our needs Only a two minute drive to the heart of Estes Park from the Inn so very convenient.
Review 69:The blinds were broken; there are no drapes. Because of no drapery, the room was light all of the time. Soaker tub/shower, located in the open, in the room (not in the bathroom), provided no privacy. Sofa was saggy.
Review 70:Comfortable, king-sized bed.
Review 71:no mountain views, but good resturant on site. well organized, clean nice decks for most units, close to town.
Review 72:large rooms, large living area, 2 great balconies fire place and 2 bath rooms
Review 73:Sofa was little bit tired.
Review 74:Our room equipped a jacuzzi. It was so comfortable. Microwave, refrigerator and electric range are also equipped. It was easy to cook at room.
Review 75:Room layout for the king bed room was unusual. We had a hottub with as shower in it that was in the corner of the room. It only had a curtain so was not very private. The queen bed rooms offered more privacy.
Review 76:Management and all staff I interacted with were professional. It was clear to me that they cared. We had dinner in their on site restaurant too. Service was excellent there too and their beet salad was amazing.
Review 77:They could upgrade TVs to more modern HDTV in the bedrooms
Review 78:Great spacious 2 bedroom chalet. Plenty of room. We were totally impressed with the fully furnished kitchen utensils and supplies. Housekeeper did a great Job and checked to see if we needed anything.
Review 79:Pub on site had some service issues, food we did finally get was good though.
Review 80:Room had everything in it we could want. Jacuzzi tub, tv, nice bed. Very clean. Friendly staff. Good breakfast in morning. Hot tub by pool was good too. Great location just outside of downtown area. Quiet and nice location.
Review 81:Breakfast was a lot of carb stuff.
Review 82:Close to town. Decent room. It was clean and pretty quiet. Front desk people were very nice. The bed was comfortable and it had a good shower. Plenty of room in the bathroom!
Review 83:The views, the comforts, the restaurant & the amazingly friendly and helpful staff. Saw lots of hummingbirds around their property babbling brook !
Review 84:It was sometimes difficult to find a parking spot.
Review 85:Loved the cozy set up of the Inn, with beautiful views of the Rockies! The staff are personable and eager to make your stay comfortable. It was very fun staying there, I didn't want to leave!!
Review 86:The location, price, comfort, cleanliness and service were all outstanding. I would recommend the Appenzell to others and definitely stay there again.
Review 87:The room seemed very small when we first arrived, the jacuzzi bath in the room took up alot of space and there was nowhere to put two large suitcases! We soon got used to it! Wifi was very slow at times.
Review 88:Comfy bed and sofa, jacuzzi bath, short drive into town, able to park outside room
Review 89:Nothing to complain about here.
Review 90:Rooms were spacious and very well furnished with massive bed and neat small kitchen area and great shower. Very clean and well furnished. Staff were particularly friendly and helpful. Easy walking distance (for us) into town but also good bar/ restaurant on site. Very good overall value for money. Simple but good breakfast included or available to take back to room. Good laundry.
Review 91:The buffet continental breakfast was adequate for what it was but they didn't have real cream for my coffee. Also, the refrigerator in our room was set on a medium temperature but it froze all of our food and we had to throw it away. What I didn't like the most was the fact that you could hear all the plumbing thru the walls and it was so loud it kept me awake at night. I also don't like road noise and you could hear that as well.
Review 92:Everything was clean and the bed was comfortable.
Review 93:We were put in a room where the A/C wasn't working (room 11). So we got switch into a different room (room 15). About 4 hours later, a couple was given the same key to room 15 and trying to get in while we were in there. That was a little uncomfortable. Had we been showering or napping that could have been a very bad experience.
Review 94:The free wi-fi, breakfast, and location of the hotel was great!
Review 95:The Pub, as a restaurant, leaves a little to be desired. I realize it's small and a fairly new business, but more variety, less boutique food would change my mind. I'll go elsewhere for dinner...maybe the Grubstake downtown.
Review 96:The bed is extremely comfortable and the room was the cleanest I've experienced on any of my travels. I could stay in this room for longer vacations. It has just about everything I could want, including an indoor pool. Continental breakfast is decent fare. and gets you going in the morning.
Review 97:Breakfast offering is basic fare, which is fine, but not offering orange juice did get my attention.
Review 98:Convenient, non-franchise, unique decor hotel. I didn't check out the pool, etc. Convenient parking.
Review 99:Maybe more options for breakfast.
Review 100:My friends and I had a wonderful stay at the hotel. Our room far exceeded our expectations. The staff and service was very friendly and helpful, and the room was very clean and comfortable. We will be back!!
Review 101:The place was ideal. If we ever go back to the States and the RMNP we'll definitely stay here again. Estes Park is a lovely place to visit and ideal for exploring the Rocky Mountain NP.
Review 102:The light on the outside of the door could not be turned off for safety reasons and it was much too bright on the inside of the apartment.
Review 103:Our 5 year old grandson described the property as "a lovely inn". The amount of space was good for the 3 of us. It was clean , well located and the staff was very helpful.
Review 104:There wasn't much they didn't have. We were well taken care of. If anything for improvement, maybe a fresh waffle would've been nice.
Review 105:Comfortable and clean. Reminded me of Switzerland! It was still pre-season so it was nice and quiet.
Review 106:Kids running upstairs kept us up late til midnight, we had to get up early. Very unsatisfied. Staff unfriendly and not very accommodating.
Review 107:Easy check in
Review 108:Noisy jacuzzi tub in the room above us!
Review 109:The room was very pheasant and clean. The overall look of the property was charming - like a little Bacarian Inn.
Review 110:Bed wasn't super comfortable but it was fine overall, walls to exterior are kinda thin- can hear a lot at night and in the morning.
Review 111:Friendly staff, clean, cute and cozy room, in room Jacuzzi bath
Review 112:Our room faced another hotel that appeared to have many long term tenants and that place was not clean or attractive. Appenzell's pond area needed attention.
Review 113:Room was extremely clean and comfortable. Nice gas fireplace and spa tub in room.
Review 114:We had to walk up a flight of stairs with our bags, but that made the experience even more European. :) Breakfast was minimal, but sufficient.
Review 115:The inn was lovely, clean, and comfortable. We were here for only one night, but these were the best accommodations we had all week by a long shot.
Review 116:Thought we were using the hotel's website, but were using booking.com so we missed out on a senior discount. At sign, in the contract said (by law) no alcoholic beverages could be brought in as they had a pub/restaurant on site (it was closed for the winter/slow season). Therefore, no nightly glass of wine before bed.
Review 117:Located close to town. Clean rooms, friendly and helpful staff, covered parking. Safeway, restaurants and town within one mile. Quiet and cable TV, but no program guide - only station guide.
Review 118:Really nice, clean room. Loved the jetted tub and the fireplace, and was surprised at how well equipped the kitchen was. It had a decent sized fridge, a microwave, electric skillet and all the dishes and pots and pans we needed.
Review 119:I don't have anything negative to say.
Review 120:There is a hot tub in the living room. There is a kitchen with a full refrigerator. There is a giant king size bed. You don't have to leave the room much. Did I mention the gas fireplace 3 feet from the hot tub? We will be going back. Ask for room number 6. That comes with a private balcony with mountain view.
Review 121:From the photos it looked a bit more like a cabin and/or a B&B rather than a hotel/motel. There may be other areas of the complex that are like this, though.
Review 122:We paid a little extra for the spa room w/ a fireplace and it was totally worth it! Great room, soft bedding and the front desk guy did a great job with all of our random questions about places to hike and explore.
Review 123:Would have loved some protein at breakfast. Bathroom a little small. (Both minor, and not enough to deter me from returning).
Review 124:We came to Estes Park for a wedding, I wish I'd had a day or two more to do some activities there. If ever I make my way back, I'd stay here again. The room was spacious. The jacuzzi and fireplace were great for a romantic weekend getaway. I didn't use the kitchenette for our short visit, but it was fully equipped if one were staying for longer and wanted to prepare some of your own meals. All of the staff was very friendly and helpful; a little customer service goes a long way in my book, and everyone at the Appenzell went beyond.
Review 125:Breakfast could have more variety.
Review 126:The view was beautiful even though it was cold it was close to shopping, dining, and overall staff were friendly and could have asked for a better room. Was spacious and the price was reasonable. The jet tub and fireplace was especially nice after being out in the cold.
Review 127:Beautiful view of the majestic mountains, the room was very nice with all the amenities needed for a weekend getaway including a large indoor spa tub. We would recommend this to place to stay at in Estes Park CO.
Review 128:I would say that hearing other people's jet tubs was maybe the only thing we were mildly annoyed with but wasn't too big a deal.
Review 129:Was a nice place to stay for the price! Enjoyed the tub. Glad there was a little kitchen area, that was helpful. Fire place was nice but didn't seem to put out much heat-the room was very cozy and warm at any rate.
