Reviews for Santhiya Koh Yao Yai Resort & Spa
Review 1:The location has its disadvantages. It took us 1000 baht to get from a northern pier to the resort and that was the only option we had! And also when we took the ferry arriving in phuket we only had one option to get to patong beach. but being very picky now! But as we were backpacking and only made a stop to have a proper night we found it a bit expensive.
Review 2:Service was on point! Very helpful and always friendly, the hotel itself is an absolute eye catcher! We even got a room upgrade! And the room has everything you need, and lots more!! More than satisfied!
Review 3:The night shows could be better.
Review 4:Hotel employees are kind and good hosts. Peacefulness and awesome sunsets. Next door restaurant great food good price.
Review 5:They are pretending to do recycling but the beach is horribly dirty, full of plastic bottles. It is not a good idea to swim there especially if you consider the fact that the nearest hospital is at Phuket…If you have health problems or kids, this is not the place to go...Pool very dirty, fool of bugs….Management very impolite and incompetent.
Review 6:The staff was very nice and polite. Original decoration of rooms in the Burmese style.
Review 7:The food at the buffets was not very special and was all very bland even though the cost was quite high. The general service around the bar was always very slow you could wait up to 25 minutes for the drink you ordered. The reception staff were genrally helpfull but not over friendly.
Review 8:The position of the hotel and views are totally amazing .They have the most amazing infinity pool which was one of the highlights of this structure. This island is one of the last untouched Thiland islands .
Review 9:It's no fault/reflection of the resort's staff but we were disappointed by the rude/ demanding attitude of a couple of the others guests towards the staff.
Review 10:The Santhiya staff were absolutely supurb. They ensured we were very well looked after and always comfortable. Our room was beautiful and the bed was very comfortable. All our meals were delicious and the breakfast buffet/ Thai Italian buffet had an outstanding variety of food and was very fresh. We enjoyed paddle boarding in the sea and swimming in the Infinity Pool at sunset. The view from our balcony was spectacular and we really enjoyed having a sundown drink outside on the day bed or in the spa. In the four days we stayed a transport vehicle was always available to take us from our room to the restaurant. We would like to thank the staff for being so friendly and making tasty cocktails.
Review 11:Everything is ++ and two or three times the price of what is reasonable, but it is a high end resort so can be expected...
Review 12:Out of this world amazing Jurrasic park riding wonderland
Review 13:There are two pools, one very large one close to the beach where the main resort is. And then a smaller quieter infinity pool higher up on the property. They should make the infinity pool an adult only pool. The kids jumping, splashing and hollering constantly really ruin the serene vibe up there.
Review 14:Everything!!!!! Amazing place, can't wait to return!
Review 15:The one thing we all hated were the thin cloths instead of towels for the sun beds. The towels in the rooms weren't great either too small. The waiter service was very bad, they took 40 every meal to organise any drinks.
Review 16:The hotel. Rooms the Location and the beach all fantastic. The breakfast was outstanding.
Review 17:We had airco not working for three days and management said is not in their policy to offer discount for such problems. Very nice place, but everyday something is missing : no sparkling water, no crab or no prawns or no coconut, which is very easy as local restaurants have them everyday !
Review 18:Rooms are located separtely from other facilities. The transfer by car to the rooms were taking a bit long and it was difficult to get clear answers from staff on if a car was on its way or not. We had to wait for up to 45 minutes for simple transfer down to the pool areas.
Review 19:Excellent location and beautiful Hotel. Very relaxing environment and beatiful facilities.
Review 20:Everything about our stay was perfect. The only thing I can think of is that the sea wasn't all transparent further from the beach (though it had beautiful colors). We didn't like that you have to take off shoes before entering some common areas like breakfast buffet, shop or reception.
Review 21:Our stay at Santhiya was an amazing experience. Breathtaking views from the room, balcony and infinity pool at top level. Unique, fairytale like architecture and interiors, with a fascinating attention to detail. Amazing pool at the beach.
Review 22:Hardly anything. If so, there could be more options for lunch/dinner.
Review 23:I loved everything about it. It was such a tranquil place where we rested in 3 nights more than others do in 10 days. The hotel rooms were extremely comfortable, and I truly felt like home. Also: the breakfast! And the new infinity pool.
Review 24:People should know the resort accommodation is located up on the cliffs! It's not clear when booking & not what we expected. To get to rooms you have to be transferred on a 4x4 vehicle & it can get tiresome & would not suit older folk perhaps? We told the hotel it's not what we expected & asked if we could shorten our booking so we could move elsewhere. This was flatly refused as non refundable through booking . com. Speaking with B.com this was not case. Disappointed to be lied too & it's clearly run as a money first, client satisfaction second concern! Overall it left a bitter taste of paradise for this issue.
Review 25:Rooms are beuttifully appointed. Food standard is excellent . Staff are attentive Island is beautiful, outlook is same :-) The main resort leisure area is great!
Review 26:Food was okay, and because of the location on a Hill it was difficult to get transport
Review 27:Magnificant breathtaking view from the room!!! Once-in-a-Lifetime experience. Infinity pool on upper part of complex just opened, with again spectacular view.
Review 28:Food was mediocre at most, but still expensive - the same is true for drinks Facilities are badly maintained WiFi does not work well in public areas Overall too expensive for the standard of service
Review 29:Nicely located Nice rooms and overall architecture Room maids, buggy drivers, porters were very friendly and helpful Nice restaurants outside of the resort (just 50m along the beach) with authentic food
Review 30:The beach was not the best for swimming but it was beautiful though
Review 31:We came here for Honeymoon and we really enjoyed it!! Very beautiful hotel, amazing architecture, design, landscapes, it's a place where you can really relax and enjoy. The service was excellent and the staff very helpful and kind always. The food was delicious and high quality with a big variety of both Thai and western.
Review 32:The location is not very good and I didn't like so much the beach there. My wife and I we just ate once in the buffet because the food is wasn't very good
Review 33:The rooms and the hotel in general it was really amazing. The swimming is nice and clean and the restaurant "The Titan" was fair.
Review 34:Not much, but the occasional loud off-tune Kareoke in the hotel next door was very disturbing.
Review 35:The location, view and the building decord. Friendly local staff, supported by expat management. Very fresh and authentic food, with options for well prepared Western varieties.
Review 36:All in all, it is a very comfortable hotel with all the facilities. Try beach massage here. Drink Santhiya cooler in a coconut and enjoy! A pool villa is the best option but standard rooms also have amazing sunset!
Review 37:Mozzies are savage! Take lots of bug spray and keep your room doorclosed. But this is not the resorts fault, they leave citronellacandles burning.
Review 38:Pool villas are amazing! The most special room I've ever stayed in.Location is 20 minute speedboat from Phuket but feels like a world away.Staff can't do enough to help. Buffet breakfast selection has lotsof options including eggs benedict, pastries, Asian food, and cheese.
Review 39:They don't trust you with 54 baht (USD 1.50) of rice, maybe they think you might run away from the island without paying. Don't forget they have your passport and a pre-authorised transaction on your credit card. Rice was delivered to room, but when I wasn't there to sign, rice taken away. No note, or phone call. So 10 minutes later when I return to room, I continue waiting for the rice, waiting. All because they couldn't leave USD 1.50 of rice at my door. I did not feel trusted, or welcome.
Review 40:The bed was fancy.
Review 41:The resort had significantly expanded over the last year's or so with many more hotel rooms. Has lost its boutique feel. Restaurants and breakfast were quite busy but service times were ok.
Review 42:We had a pool villa which was massive, very comfortable and had a great view. Very relaxing days in our pool and on the deck at the villa. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good and offered a decent spread. All restaurant meals were very tasty.
Review 43:A tiny negative: Even though the food was delicious it is western prices. You can walk down the beach and eat in the village for less than half the price (well worth doing).
Review 44:We stayed for 6 nights in the ocean view room. The beachfront resort is beautiful and one of the best on the island. This is a relaxing and quiet retreat so if you also want nightlife then it's not the place for you. The food, especially breakfast, was delicious and well presented. you can book excursions from the resort or if you walk down the beach you could book from the locals. the staff speak good English. The Thai massage is great value for money which I highly recommend.
Review 45:10% service charge on everything, even mini bar
Review 46:The room, the view, the pool, the beach, the spa, the restaurants, the yoga and Muay Thai... All first class
Review 47:Food is not at Thai standard quality wise. Too sweet and not spicy, amazing for Thailand.
Review 48:Facilities are beautiful, exclusive carving and fantastic view on the bay.
Review 49:Nothing - had a brilliant time - didn't want to leave!
Review 50:Brilliant resort, friendly staff, villas were immaculate, pool was clean and tidy, beach was kept tidy! Free kayaking and paddle boards! Plenty of loungers! Lots of staff - more than 1 to each guest! Food good! Transfers easy and well coordinated!
Review 51:Excellent - enjoyed everything about this place from the moment we were greeted kindly in the pier for boat transfer. Perfect place, nice beach, spectacular views, good food. We had breakfast and dinner in the resort, but went for lunch outside to experience the contrasts of Santlya luxury and reality in the rest of Yao Yai island.
Review 52:Took a kayak out and lightly hit a rock with their old / very used paddle. This light knock snapped off half of the plastic end (in a perfectly straight line.. no way a rock could do this if it wasn't already damaged). The hotel charged me 1600 baht for a replacement. IMHO They should not have provided old, half broken equipment, and then charge guests when the equipment break. Typical Thai mindset, and IMO very short sighted of them.
Review 53:Quality of hotel, food, service, location on the beach
Review 54:Foods choices. They should provide more selections with more authentic taste. The breakfast finishes slightly early and they tend to clean everything up right after 10.30!! Would be nicer to breath a bit more!!
Review 55:Most everything
Review 56:Difficult to name anything. However, one small suggestion is 'PLEASE TRY TO DROP YOUR PRICES A LITTLE TO ENCOURAGE YOUR GUESTS TO USE IN HOUSE FACILITIES
Review 57:I have travelled all over the world for business and pleasure. But this resort of yours just excels. Full marks to the staff who have made it happen
Review 58:There was some construction on the road outside our room during our stay.
Review 59:Initially when my wife and I were looking at this hotel we were just going to take a standard room with view on the sea. After some discussion, we instead decided to take a pool villa with sea view instead. Best decision ever! The pool villas are amazing, with a splendid view of the sea and a great infinity pool with jets. We also had an exterior bath tub, and multiple shower facilities both indoor and outdoor. We also loved the decoration of the room as almost everything is made of wood. In addition, one of our favorite parts of the pool villas is the privacy. The hotel has made sure that each villa is isolated enough so that you have the feeling of having your own little space in paradise. We fully recommend to go for a pool villa with ocean view to get the full experience in this hotel. When you do eventually decide to leave the room to go to the main reception / restaurant area, you need to take a "wooden car" which is a fun experience overall (sometimes you have to wait a bit for the car to arrive but who cares, you're on vacation). The reception area is also well decorated, but the highlight of of all the restaurants, bars and activities are definitely the staff. Special shout out to MJ and Jane, who really went out of their way to make us feel welcome and make our stay more enjoyable.
Review 60:There was a black out for awhile during one of the night when i was there so it was a little bit scary as i was alone but the hotel provides a torchlight in the room. But it wasnt a big issue though. The problem was solved in about 15mins.
Review 61:I love the staffs. They made me feel welcomed and comfortable. Each and every staff smiled when they see the guest. They are very helpful and most of them can speak english. The view was awesome!
Review 62:Only thing we could complain about is that the car driver on our return to Phuket was not that great and we all got car sick. But the hotel itself...wow!
Review 63:Loved everything. Breakfast is great. Staff is very friendly and take care of you. Baby cot was already set up for us upon our arrival in our room. Once we were picked up from our hotel near Phuket airport, we did not have to worry about our bags...they were brought to the room when we arrived without hassle.
Review 64:Because the island is quite desolate they have a monopoly on guests.
Review 65:Beautiful paradise, planning my trip back next year already! Little expensive for food but the flat rate for BB is really worth it
Review 66:The food was the same every day. We were stuck on the island with the same set of activities and food. There were not enough excursions outside. Limited our agenda and we felt stuck.
Review 67:Muay Thai class was great.
Review 68:The haze was bad and the sea was not transparent. Food was good and a lot of offering. they could change a bit more the menu every day.
Review 69:The resort is beautiful and we loved the complimentary classes of yoga and muay thai in the morning
Review 70:Santhiya Koh Yao Yai was the most amazing place my wife and I have ever stayed. We took our almost two year old daughter for three nights and stayed in a Ocean View Pool Villa, and we could not believe how magical it was. The facilities and service - for both children and adults - is absolutely excellent.
Review 71:it's a bit complicated to go from Phuket airport without hotel pickup.
Review 72:The view, the people...everything is so good during our stay here. My friend and I had very good time and should stay longer. It's very worth the price and highly recommended.
Review 73:This resort was a magical place to stay. Every view from our villa was like a postcard. The villa was beautiful and huge. We loved every minute on the island. We only had 4 nights and would stay a lot longer next time.
Review 74:Food menu is limited on vegetarian options (but we loved the breakfast buffet). The hot water in the room was not working and we had to call housekeeping to fix it (everyday...).
Review 75:Gorgeous traditional Thai inspired design and decoration (totally in love with the wood work in the rooms! and everything very comfortable). Amazing staff, very helpful! Our son loved the kids playroom, simple but very useful for us, traveling with a two year old. Great beach massage (the happy hour is great value).
Review 76:There was no honeymoon attentions even though we notified it on the reservation They charged me almost 10€ for a glass of wine that i broke in my room
Review 77:The views, the outstanding service, the resort was beautiful
Review 78:Staff seamed more concerned with towing the company line than actually getting involved with us. Need more stand up paddle boards, one is not enough for a family. Food was ok, but expensive and not as tasty as could get locally
Review 79:Beautiful rooms and setting. Pool is fantastic. Beach is the nicest on the island.
Review 80:The a la carte restaurant and the spa is quite expensive, but you can find alternativas easily.
Review 81:The location, the hotel and its area is amazing! People are very helpful and friendly. Beautiful environment, romantic, relaxing....our 11 days holiday was the perfection itself :)
Review 82:At better quality wine selection would have made the trip perfect.
Review 83:Everything, it was a brilliant hotel. We stayed at six different hotels during our stay in Thailand and this beat the others hands down. From the moment we arrived at the port, the speedboat transfer, the food, the service, the room, the location - everything was absolutely excellent.
Review 84:The Thai buffet dinner was very poor quality for the price. Inferior taste & ingredients compared to local cheap restaurants in Phuket. The grilled seafood selection in particular was very disappointing.
Review 85:The sea views from our room were spectacular & the room was lovely & spacious. Good airconditioning, great bed & bathroom. Loved the fan in the bathroom for additional comfort. Breakfast selection also very good. Great beach & pool.
Review 86:Only the check in wasn't up to the standards in this kind of hotel, we've had to wait more than three hours to get ready our room.
Review 87:The Hotel was awesome, amazing views from the rooms, very clean and well maintained , beautifully decorated , good restaurants with beach views , and the staff is really friendly and they are always up to help you.
Review 88:this was the last leg of our Honeymoon and to say we were disappointed is true. in our 2 weeks in Thailand, the staff in this location were the least nice and helpful. to organize our arrival with their transfer was complicated and we only managed to get it via our very nice hotel in Krabi that helped us. I understand why it was hard as the hotel is in a very remote location on the island. on the first night, II had food poisoning from eating into their beach restaurant and from their on, I was sick for the entire 4 days stay (i firmly believe it is from the ice cubes that thy must make with the local water!); the beach is very dirty and the sea water very murky from all the detritus lying around. they say it is a lovely location for snorkelling; I wouldn't recommend it - nor getting they kayak for a stroll as in the end when you reach another small beach, it is so disgusting of rubbish that again no point! the rooms are on the hill, so you need to get the transit cars to get you there... which is fun but then any room service is charged at 700BHT just for the fact of having the car to bring you something. this would not be the case in any other hotel and if you build your rooms on the cliff side, then account for the fact that your room service is further away but do not charge your customers for it!on the pool side, it is a lovely pool, but they put so much chlorine in it that our swimming costumes are wrecked and ou hair turned green because of the chemicals, also, they need to clean it better as it was covered in leaves quiet often.for our last night, we upgraded to a villa pool as they do advertise everywhere that you can get a good deal going direct via their reception... this is not true, and we paid even more than if we were going via booking.com - we did it anyway as a treat but again, this shows the lack of customer service. overall, it was a huge disappointment to finish our honeymoon with this hotel and we will never be going back nor recommend it.
Review 89:all the wood in the rooms, the private pool and the beach massage location.
Review 90:All extra's are a bit pricey. Only breakfast included.
Review 91:Super cool eiland resort. It is beautiful. Big public pool, infinity pool on our room. When arriving with the boat it is just amazing to see the whole resort on the cliffside. Heaven!
Review 92:The hotel is not safe for children below 11 years. The value of the mini bar was very expensive just for few chocolates and biscuits.
Review 93:Location, restaurant, view
Review 94:Hard to reach location, expensive speed boat transfer, expensive food and drinks (near european level). It didn't bother us that much since we were here on a short stay. Tip: If you want cheaper food and drinks. Walk down on the beach and/or go to the small village nearby. There are some cheaper restaurants there. Tip: The best way to reach this place is from Phuket. If you don't want to use the hotel expensive transfer, you can get there yourself. Take the ferry from the Bang Rong Pier (Search time Table on Internet) to Ko Yao Yai. From Ko Yao Yai, you can take a taxi for approx 600 Baht to get to the resort. This is much cheaper than using the hotel's transfer. There is also a boat going and from Krabi (only in the morning).
Review 95:Luxurious Resort, Friendly Staff, Authenthic Thai Interior Style, Free activities (Muay Thai Boxing Lesson, Canoing), Great Swimming Pool, Great Breakfast. After the long trip, it was definitely worth it.
Review 96:Location, far from the Klong Hia pier (45 minutes by car), where all the boats arrive/depart to Krabi/Phuket/Ko Yao Noi. The island's best restaurants are close to this pier. The hotel boat fees to and from Phuket are too expensive (they have a private pier which makes it more easy to get to Phuket (30 minutes). The resort extension which makes you dependent from the hotel shuttle to go to the beach/common areas (24 hours running though). The beach is so so and not very clean apart from the hotel front area, but I didn't see any breathless paradise beach in the area to be honest. The Phi Phi area for instance is overcrowded and to be avoided at any cost
Review 97:The stylish and luxurious decoration of the rooms and common areas, in thai style with wooden construction with beautiful carvings. The hotel facilities and staff were top. The value for money was very good The small village and restaurants close to the hotel.
Review 98:Nice resort , great service , front office team and smooth check in was excellent , nice staff specially Jojo during dinner was exceptional , a thai style resort and great beach , I liked the service and attention to details
Review 99:Little to do when raining...no real in house activities. Did find out later that they had a store, library and in house movie area but these items where not clearly explained from the outset...and it was raining when we arrived.
Review 100:Location and setting
Review 101:Reception staff was not always helpful, but this was offset by the excellent service from Mr. David and Khun gif Roofing of balcony needs to be repaired
Review 102:Excellent location, wooden decor, breakfast buffet and nice dinner settings
Review 103:Remember to bring everything you need to the island. There are probable better options for the speedboat than using the resorts. We took a regular speedboat to Phuket on the way out and it was very cheap.
Review 104:We stayed in an Ocean View Pool Villa for a weekend and enjoyed every minute of it. The breakfast was great. We had dinner at the seafood restaurant in the village outside the resort every night (very good local food). One of the best resorts I have ever been to.
Review 105:Not a big deal, but it would have been better not to depend on cars to pick you up, and it could have been nice if there's was a little more to do on the island itself.
Review 106:This is a great hotel. Great service, lively rooms, great spa and good food. Nicest hotel I've stayed in.
Review 107:The restaurant staff didn't seem very well trained, they were confused by most questions and not confident to respond. The manager seemed preoccupied and never caught our eye, let alone talked to us! Other staff were attentive.
Review 108:Beautiful and thoughtfully designed resort. Lots of great services provided. Lovely setting.
Review 109:No bad experiences but I felt the meals and the speed boat transport were overpriced. There are other options for the boat transport which are incredibly cheaper and I used these.
Review 110:I loved everything about this resort! All of the staff were fantastic, breakfast varied and delicious, the pool was cooling and relaxing a great respite for a few hours from the hot sun. I didn't realize when I booked just how spread out the place was - definitely need the little buggies for transport around the resort. When I was unwell they even drove me to the doctors and waited which I appreciated.
Review 111:Commuting between villa and restaurant/ beach/ pool/ facilities area is a real pain as it requires a transfer by car and waiting time could be quite long (30-40 min). Not suitable with young children.
Review 112:Villa was very comfortable and nicely decorated, with great view. Facilities are very nice.
Review 113:Some guests may not like the fact some rooms are a very long way from the resort facilities. We enjoyed the 10 minute walk so waiting for a shuttle from the room wasn't an issue. Their speed boat service is too expensive. The fitness center is not appealing. We went to ask about the free class they offered and were taken to the gift shop to buy boxing shorts.
Review 114:Staff are friendly, attentive and seem to genuinely care if you are happy. Rooms are spacious and well appointed. Views are amazing! Food from the restaurant was excellent. While there are limited kid focused facilities the resort is kid friendly if you are happy to make your own fun.
Review 115:Not that impressed with the over priced slightly micky taking menu - So so food at Euro restaurant prices in a midly trapped environment. Repetitive menu aspect. Prtions smaller than expected. I NEVER like paying 10% service charge when I WALK TO the bar! lol
Review 116:Apartments superb. Classic and classy. NOT REALLY for youngsters as sort of shuts down at 11pm. But a great location for a 2nd honeymoon scenario or lover/couple trip.
Review 117:You have to take a tram to you room, so don't leave anything behindor it'll be a 20 minute round trip! For lunch and dinner, the foodwas not as good as the price would indicate, but not bad. There isnothing around this place, so your only option is to eat there really. The beach was ok.
Review 118:I was so pleased with this place. Maybe different during the highseason, but it was such a good value when I visited (low season). Thestaff was great, the breakfast was great. Each room has it's ownWiFi. Very spacious and beautiful views. Very cute decor. Wellmaintained. The pool is amazing.
Review 119:Even though a beautiful island...there is nothing to do. No shops which means all food and snacks have to be bought at the hotel...meaning much higher prices. I appreciate the location and the hills but when the rain came down, it wasn't a pleasant experience catching a wooden transport cart (which was open to all the elements) back to our room. If you want relaxation and only this, this is the hotel for you. Heard from other people that they have another hotel in koh phangan which was the same standard but on an island with much more to do.
Review 120:Beautiful resort with helpful and friendly staff. The pool was amazing with floating sun beds that were a brilliant idea to keep cool when it was hot. The room was outstanding. We booked a room with a sea view and bath tub on the balcony which was amazing. Everything's made out of wood with beautiful carvings. I wanted to take everything away with me if I'm honest. Breakfast was included and the selection was vast. Freshly made omelettes and eggs with bacon, potato and sausages available. In addition to this there were traditional Thai noodles and waffles, croissants, fruit, cereals....absolutely faultless.
Review 121:Breathtaking sea view from our bedroom. Perfect for enjoying sunset. Adorable staff, always willing to help and doing their very best to please us.
Review 122:When we checked out, the housekeeper informed that our villa is short of two towels. We offered them to check our luggages which refused. They insisted to charge 600 Baht for the towels. The money is minor, the handling is poor..what they lost is will be a recurrent customer and a bad customer relationship as we and a few other families decided that we will never return to that property.
Review 123:N/A
Review 124:The food is not qualitative especially as Thailand is known for its excellent cuisine. The menus are repetitive, and have no finesse. The a la carte Menu is complex, unclear and tries to offer set Menu (then it is not an a la carte choice). The buffet is simply disappointing for a 5 star hotel. No fresh products can be founds such as seafood, or fish from the local fisherman. This is a pity.
Review 125:Location is ideal, attention to details in the bedroom, wood work throughout, friendly staff and good management. Ideal for a honeymoon or couple retreat. You come to Santhya for a reason - it's feels like home on a gold platter.
Review 126:Just take care of the geckos cause its a tropical forest. And if you did not, they will take care of them for you.
Review 127:Every thing in the resort was perfectly done. we spent 6 days from our honeymoon there, in room with sea view and then upgrade to a villa with private pool. Also, we had a private dinner at the pier. Everything was above our expectations. Really the best hotel/resort we have been to.
Review 128:The cost of food was a tad outrageous considering the usual cost of food in this area, and also the fact the food wasn't overly flashy.
Review 129:The staff were by far the highlight of our stay at this resort, so friendly and always happy to go out of their way to help. The facilities were also very nice, and we were stoked to find there were complementary Muay Thai classes and use of non-motorised water equipment such as kayaks and paddle boards.
Review 130:The only criticism was the staff although very friendly they lack experience and leadership therefore I would rate this as a 4 star hotel not 5, a 5 star hotel provides excellent customer service and sadly this did not.
Review 131:We stayed at Santhiya for 2 days initially but ended up staying an extra day, the hotel is in an amazing location with stunning views from our room, the pool was amazing too we spent a lot of time in it to keep cool
Review 132:- Will give you the best tip to easily reach the hotel and ignore any other recommendations;1) Use whatever you want from Phuket (taxi at 500 BHT from air port) go to BANG RONG PIER To KO YAO YAI (or KO YAO NOI) 2) take speed boat or long tail boat at a price of 200/150 BHT respectively 3) Duration by speed boat/long tail boat is about 25 mins/50 mins respectively 4) Timings start from 06:30 am to 05:30 pm (from both piers) 5) if your flight is outside these timings don't panic, you can have a private long tail boat (can accommodate 8 persons at least), just call the marvelous guy ZAKARIA he will manage it to you at the cheapest price 2,500 BHT plus 500 BHT for the Taxi to Airport if you need (ZAKARIA is working in the BANG RONG PIER Cell Number; +66 81 894 6105)
Review 133:- View is stunning- stuff extremely friendly, polite, helpful -For honeymooners, don't search a lot this is your best place - don't believe the reviews; you can find food just outside the beach (not expensive) -ridding a motorcycle is a must (300 BHT just outside the hotel)
Review 134:Proprty develooers are short term "money hounds". Promise paradise but only offer accomodation and promises. Never got bill for accomodation stay!!!!
Review 135:The facilities ars great, the service is great; the property developers, are a money hungry entity, that do not understand customer needs. It is like "old folks home..
Review 136:It's a very big resort, and not intimate hotel as it advertises. The hotel is situated on the hills, the view is beautiful, but to get to the beach or to a restaurant you have to call the wooden truck. You' ll be waiting for the car about 15 minutes, and often do not get inside, because it took the other guests earlier. Down the road is winding and bumpy, and people fee sick. Breakfasts are poor with small choice, poor quality products, lacking fresh juices. Zero Thai hospitality, the staff treats you like an ATM. You must pay for everything. In this hotel we spent 12 nights. at the beginning we were accommodated in a room near the construction site. In the room we heard the construction noise, the sound of cement mixers. after complaints they moved us to a quiet room but it was a garden view room on a lower standard than we paid. after the intervention in booking.com we're moved to another room. This in turn had a broken air conditioning. We complained at the reception, which was helpless! technicians failed to fix it. With 40 degree heat outside, we did not have air conditioning at this 5 star hotel. we decided to leave the hotel but we were not allowed! We were told we would have to pay for the entire stay! and that they will not accept payment from us for only four dans. From the receptionist we heard that if we pay only for four nights, she will call the police. Manager apologized later for her, but also demanded payment for 12 nights! His is the worst five-star hotel in Asia have ever been. They have no idea of a higher standard of service. Thailand is beautiful and there are many great hotels. From that stay away.
Review 137:very nice beach, nice design
Review 138:Staff just couldn't get anything right from forgetting my dinner/drinks (three times), requiring one hour between checkout to pay my bill (so maids could check to see if I used it maybe stole anything from the room) to rat droppings on day bed. We arrived by long boat which cost about $60 (30 minutes) each way. On departure they told us we would either need to take their shuttle for a pricey sir charge or take an hour taxi ride to the public pier on the other side of the island and get a shuttle there. This would have cost us 3 hours and $150 dollars vs $60 and 30 minutes when we arrived.
Review 139:Quiet remote setting. Great place to zen out for a few days.
Review 140:There is no activity in the hotel and the island. Food and drinks are really expensive and fruit juices are not fresh. We think that the drinks and the meal do not worth that price. There is no air-condition at the restaurants. After the check-out they asked us where the one of the towels was!!! Did we stole one piece of towel while we were staying at the most expensive room? They took service charges and tax even from minibar and cigarettes. The hotel did not worth the price we paid.
Review 141:The hotel has a great view, wonderfull pool villas (we stayed at ocean view villa- 4 nights). A very quiet place to relax, especially if you are on honeymoon. -Smiling staff. -Location
Review 142:Beware of hords of Chinese tourists in the eve at a hotel down the beach...breaks my heart to see so much plastic on the beach there but they seem to like that...at the end they will not bother you in Santhiya
Review 143:Don't worry...take a ferry and taxi to the resort..it's a nice trip itself and much cheaper. I don't understand the complaints of other guests...the place is gorgous and absolutely fine...and by the way if u can afford 5 star then stay in the resort and eat there ...give yourself a full treat and don't spoil it with cheap food elsewhere
