Reviews for GLOW Elixir Koh Yao Yai

Review 1:The on the beach location is fantastic and we really liked the very calm relaxing stay. We had two dinners at elixir and as to be expected it is on the more expensive side, but good quality and nice staff. As far as we saw the hotel has the islands best beach. Rooms are very good and spacious! The outdoor shower in the bathroom is a really nice thing too.

Review 2:Nothing

Review 3:staffs are very friendly and helpful. The location is wonderful. Its quiet and clean. This is not a place for those who look for party, for sure. But for those who need to recharge battery. I love everything here and will surely come back.

Review 4:Very poor service from the start. We arrived around 2pm and had to wait for several hours before the bungalow was ready. We were urgent to have lunch while we were waiting which may or may not has given us food poisoning as later we both ended up being sick several days. Breakfast was poor - not that I have eaten any as have been sick but past it on the day we left. Room service poor since we were sick we needed some water and we asked for bananas that was unfortunately too much hassle and nobody was able to understand us.

Review 5:The bungalow was ok

Review 6:The bed could do with being a bit softer. The private decks with pools/ baths weren't very private. All it would take it a bit of bamboo screening at the sides and it would be much better.

Review 7:Beautiful place! The beach was perfect and really clean. The little bungalows are great, clean and well equipped. All the staff were lovely and friendly. We went to Ko Phi Phi on a trip with the dive centre (awesome centre by the way!) and the chaos of Phi Phi really made us appreciate the peaceful beauty of relaxed Ko Yao Yai - perfect.

Review 8:Exhausted the restaurant menu on the first night; monkeys were a concern; not that much to do on Koh Yao itself.

Review 9:Villa with private pool, outside shower, outside bath, simple yet stylish, very private, cheap scooter rentals to escape into "town", helpful staff.

Review 10:The beach was disgracefully dirty. Beyond any acceptable limit, regardless to the unfavorable period of the year. There is a limit to decency. I rented a scooter which was made available without brakes and when I pointed it out there was no reaction by the hotel staff. Totally disappointing. Finally, no bar and no restaurant open after 9:30 PM. I understand that there were a few guests open but, in this case, it is opportune to close the resort during the low season.

Review 11:First off, my girlfriend and I, mid 20's were not the typical clientele here from what I could see but it was just what I was looking for: a relaxing beach side location with less tourism and more local flavor. And with central air and solid WiFi, I was able to enjoy all of the natural beauty and island life while also staying very comfortable and connected which is important for my work. The staff was incredibly gracious and the food was outstanding. I had some of the best coconut curry and I'm not even a big curry fan. And as far as folks saying there's not enough to do here to stay longer than a few nights.. have some creativity. We went kayaking, snorkeling, rode motorbikes, hung out on Koh Yao Noi for a day, and went on an awesome boat trip to 4 outlying islands. I wish I could've stayed a bit longer. Highly recommend this place to young and old. Couples or families.

Review 12:Room needs more light to be able to read in bed. The website shows a bar in the pool which was not available. They are obviously still in the process of upgrading the hotel.

Review 13:Staff were lovely atmosphere relaxed which was what we wanted. Food was good with a varied selection.

Review 14:The bed wasn't that comfy, mosquito net wasn't that good. Outside area and plunge pool were a bit dirty. Villa smelt a bit stale. Outside shower was dangerous as there was a wasp nest in the wall so we got attacked by little wasps.

Review 15:Beach was lovely, restaurant was very good and cheap, villa was nice but a bit basic for the price.

Review 16:We stayed in a beachfront villa and were very disappointed at the complete lack of privacy. Request one of the last two (115 or 116) if you want some peace. All prices in the hotel do not include service or tax surcharges. There is no real bar and a single game of pool actually costs something like €2.50! The villas are at a lower level of maintenance than dictated by the room pricing.

Review 17:Very peaceful resort, especially when compared with nearby tourist traps in Phuket and Krabi.

Review 18:Staff need a little more training, although they are incredibly friendly.

Review 19:The location and the views.

Review 20:Food at restaurant was very good, but could use some more selection/variety

Review 21:Great location and cottage

Review 22:Gorgeous and quite. A fantastic romantic getaway!

Review 23:The hotel was lovely and clean. Right back to nature. Staff were lovely and the atmosphere was great.

Review 24:Staff, loocation

Review 25:very quite

Review 26:the pool, the beach, the see, the green, the ambience, the food, the friendly staff and customer focus. Thanks to Gee, Mah, Titi :)

Review 27:To much plastic bags on the beach...recommend better beach cleaning...

Review 28:WISHES! THE WAITRESSES HAVE TO WEAR APRONS LIGHT

Review 29:ALL VERY BEST. STAFF SUPER VERY BEST

Review 30:On the beach well kept a real surprise for us. Very good the restaurant too

Review 31:The perfect balance of nature and luxury

Review 32:So relaxing and carefree. Everything we wanted from Thailand.

Review 33:Staff at the resort where fantastic, friendly and very accomodating. Great place to relax, accomodation is comfortable and the very peaceful.

Review 34:Although not totally there fault and by no means a deal breaker in returning but some staff lacked basic English. The breakfast area could do with more fans and monitored for flies in the morning. Also it would be nice if there was more variety and options in the morning. The toaster wasn't working very well. In the rooms, the kettle doesn't work very well (didn't make the water hot enough for tea/coffee)

Review 35:Location and resort was amazing! The staff were really good and attentive.

Review 36:Swimming pool outdated, poolbar in decay. The beach is fine at high tide, but at low tide, no possibility to go into the wather due to rocks. Accomodation, and food and drinks, are quite expensive, compared to what we had in the rest of Thailand so far!

Review 37:Bungalows per very good, nice and beautifull, with a romantic atmosphere. Private beach is very quiet, which we liked. Breakfast and dinner directly at the beach with sea-view.

Review 38:What´s that question? :-)

Review 39:Resort is beautiful, very nice that it is only villas and not big hotel complex. We enjoyed tropical feeling. We had villa with private pool, what else to add? Absolutely wonderful holiday. Staff of the hotel was very friendly, room was cleaned every day very properly, rooms are not damp and smell fresh. Everything was very clean, including public pool. We like that the island is not turisty. It is not turisty but not "dead". You can rent a scooter and travel around island. There are also local shops but quite far from resort, you need scooter. We were diving a lot and dive center on site was also perfect, well organized, very good equipment, great dive masters... We were absolutely happy there and hope we will come back soon.

Review 40:Not so much activity on the island, alsmost no reason to get out of the hotel. Personnel at the restaurant is a bit slow, waiters sometimes do not understand English.

Review 41:Very nice for a remote beach stay away from everything. Nature is beatiful, you can have a small walk around or rent a boat and get around to nearby islands. Restaurant is fine, though a bit overpriced compared to mainland.

Review 42:The location was perfect, natural & unspoilt surrounding countryside - a joy. Accommodation was beautiful, simply furnished and reflected the interior style of traditional a Thai home. But the staff were the resorts biggest asset, professional but friendly, all had a ready smile & could not do enough to make our stay memorable.

Review 43:In low tide you cannot swim as water level is just 5-10 cm and sea bottom is rocky

Review 44:Very peaceful and quiet place on island located 1 h boat ride from Phuket town. Everybody has private bungalow, you can choose even with your own pool. Food is nice, restaurant is open full day. Small village shop is 10 min walk away, selling basic items and soft drinks. Also beer, but you need to ask, it is not displayed. No wine or strong alcohol.

Review 45:If you want to do activities such as boat rides you generally need to book the day before and this is not always convenient if you arrive late. All activities are early in the morning.

Review 46:Beautiful resort overlooking the beach. Evening meal very high standard and staff very helpful.

Review 47:The staff was really friendly and helpful, location is just excellent - only 10 minutes away from the pier! I really enjoyed dining at the hotel, and the massage was just great! There is also a very nice gym at the hotel. I would recommend Glow Elixir to anyone who is looking for a hotel in quiet and peaceful location by the sea.

Review 48:Glass on the beach (staff is cleaning the beach on a daily basis, but there's loads so be careful). Wine & cocktails are overpriced (even for an island)

Review 49:Lovely beach, nice food, friendly staff. Especially Scott (cook) was doing everything he could to make our stay even more enjoyable.

Review 50:The behaviour of the (European) dive center which is located on thehotel premises. They were generally very rude people and even had a loudand drunk night time party.

Review 51:Pretty much everything! This hotel is a delight. The rooms/villaswere absolutely fabulous, the beach was gorgeous, the food was reallygood and the hotel staff was very friendly. An allround excellentplace to relax.

Review 52:Facilities sees to be a bit old, food in restaurant a bit too on the lower side considering it as 4 stars resort, staff not really speaking English - even at the reception. Trying to charge for a new umbrella - should not happen in such resort (also keeping in mind that break was cause by poor quality of the previous one)

Review 53:Nice quite place, perfect for honey-moon couples or seeking for some place to enjoy nature, beach nice but only during high tide

Review 54:Breakfast was a bit poor,Food was over prized at the restaurant and it trully was no good at all,we stayed there 9 dayd and we gave fair chance to kitchen three times and every single dish, was not value for the money.we had to move to an other bungalow because behind the first bungalow was choir avery night singing beetween 22.00-05.00 and i mean really loud noise from the birds ,they were at the tree and there was quite many of them, never heard such loud noise ,just couldnt sleep in three night ,just few hours all togeather.

Review 55:water level goes down one meter during the night and the morning, that was quite nice to experience, easy to rent longtail boat 4000baht to go see Maya bay and few really nice beaches,do not rent boat from the resort, rent skooter ,you can rent skooter if u walk 200m and turn left, soon there is a house were you can rent it for 250 per day,the hotel charges 250 for half day and then drive to the pier ,it is near you can see it from the resort beach and just look long tail boats and rent the boat and two local guys comes with the boat,at the resort beach long tai boat costs 5500 so you save 1500bath,and i highly recomend private boat because maya bay The Beach is full of boats and you get to make your own time table,it was no cool to see speed boats too full of turists..terrible pay little money you will get a lot more amazing expiriences

Review 56:Breakfast a bit miserable.

Review 57:Everything. The staff are excellent, very friendly and helpful and friendly especially May at reception, who is well informed and has a fantastic command of the English language. Great location in a quiet place-paradise! Good food. Would go back again and again.

Review 58:A safe big enough to put a laptop in would have been appreciated. Smoother paths around the resort, particularly getting from the lobby to the restaurant. Lastly, that the rubbish be picked up all along the beach rather than just in front of the resort.

Review 59:It was so peaceful after staying in Kata for a week. The staff were very lovely and helpful and our transport to and from Kata was smooth and easy. The rooms were lovely—we were upgraded to a room with a balcony and a view of the sea—the decor was great. Loved the beds on the raised platform and the bathroom basin. It was our daughter's fifth birthday on the island and the hotel arranged (and paid for) a cake to come from Phuket for her, which was greatly appreciated. The local women who came in to do massages were fantastic. I loved the swings by the sea and beachcombing with my daughter. All in all, it was a wonderful place.

Review 60:The beach was nice, but the currents kept bringing disgudting trash. The pool is basic. The place is perfect for romance, but not for an active holiday.

Review 61:The resort is like a beutifull village. Very quiet and intimate. We had a free upgrade to deluxe villa, where the room was just perfect. Chef Scott was very friendly and helpfull.

Review 62:pool.. no stuff was there and it is not so clean... the price of the beer -- 290 bhat????!!!! creazy!!

Review 63:Amazing place.. the room was not big but we didnt need more, the food hooo the food was soo good :) little bit pricy but value for money. the silience... ho just what we need. the beach is perfect and the view is amazing!!!

Review 64:Not much to explore on the island so you will spend a lot of time in resort

Review 65:Good location by the beach Lovely quiet resort Everything very comfortable without being anonymous 5 stat

Review 66:The breakfast had the basics but that's about it. As a lone traveller you get kind of sick hearing the question "only you?" when eating dinner the fourth night you're there. The pool/outside bathtub in the villa could've been cleaner. The bed was really hard but you get used to it.

Review 67:I booked the deluxe pool villa which had an amazing view of the resort and I was not disappointed. The villa was really private and exactly what i was looking for. The beach was fantastic and clean, it really felt like paradise. If you're in the search for a quiet place this is for you. Great staff and the managment could arrange for everything you needed. Great roomservice. Loved the outdoor shower.

Review 68:OK, it is a small thing, at low tide there is no swimming at the beach, but the pool hours finish at 7pm. Another couple of hours would be great.

Review 69:Great small resort on an island that isn't over-run with tourists. We stayed three nights, and rented scooters to get around. Food in the resort is really good. As was everywhere we ate on the island. Beach is great, except at low tide. Rooms were very nice and spotless, well kept grounds. The Manager and staff were very helpful. Will definitely return.

Review 70:Drinks are expensive, there is no alcohol on the island outside the hotel.

Review 71:The chef was great, with very personal service. The beach is fantastic and private.

Review 72:The food on breakfast was little poor and was not changed for the 5 days of our stay.

Review 73:The location is perfect - a small escape from all the tourists and crowds. So relaxing place, ,with beautiful surroundings, kind staff and good food. This place is very suitable for couples that want to relax and have time together and for families with small children. Although little more expensive services like shuttles from Phuket airport, diving lessons and excursions to the near islands worth its money.

Review 74:Everything was perfect

Review 75:Everything was just perfect! The staff was amazing, Niina welcomed usand she was of great help with tips and recommendations. The hotel isvery nice and quiet, right on the beach. No noise, no night life. Thebeach is nice, and you can watch a wonderful sunset overlooking thephuket bay. The water is not as good as in phi phi, but you can join thedaily trips to the different islands. Food at the restaurant is great! We only tried thai dishes, and they were all fantastic. I woulddefinitely return there in the future.

Review 76:Would be nice to have more variety for breakfast, some daily changesto make more interesting. We missed cheese a lot, staff brings itafter request, but it is never by default. Dinner staff is slow, butfood was good.

Review 77:Welcome was amazing, friendly staff, very quiet and peaceful place!Rooms are very quet (we had villa with private pool). There are a lot ofthings to do: we took private cooking classes and even got printedsertificates at the end which was very nice! Many free activities are onoffer including yoga.

Review 78:To get to the hotel is a little hassle. The transfer can be organized bythe hotel, whereas this is more expansive than organizing it yourself. The breakfast buffet is also improvable as the choice is quite limited and no one really took care of refilling the food & drinks in the morning.

Review 79:The island Koh Yao Yai is still undiscovered by main stream tourists, hence the atmosphere is very relaxing. The hotel itself has very nicebungalows and a nice beach.

Review 80:It could use a bit of maintenance and the restaurant staff makesmistakes every now and then, however nothing that really bothered us.

Review 81:It is quiet, small scaled and a bit remote. An excellent place to relax. You are a few steps away from the beach, swimming pool or restaurant. For us the ideal starting point of a holiday (booked 2 nights uponarrival but stayed 4).

Review 82:Staff are all very helpful and friendly. Local people there are so friendly and nice.

Review 83:Bugs

Review 84:Quiet, wifi

Review 85:perfect accomodation, beutifull view and relaxed place to visit.

Review 86:We liked absolutely everything about this hotel. Highly recommended

Review 87:Very friendly and competent staff. Simple and natural setting: just accommodation, sea and jungle. Good food on the edge of the beach.

Review 88:no nightlife, very small beach area

Review 89:peaceful, quiet, relaxing

Review 90:I had no negative feelings

Review 91:The tranquility.

Review 92:Outside the swept areas of the beach there was some rubbish.

Review 93:Setting was gorgeous and staff were lovely. Liked it all.

Review 94:Private swimming pool was not of type infinity ;)

Review 95:Quiet, clean (although with lizard behind mirror, but hotel was close to forest), outdoor shower
