Reviews for Hotel Tulip House
Review 1:Room was a little small. And location is good but Uphill road is so steep.
Review 2:Staffs are so kind. breakfast is delicious and Plentiful. Rooom was cleen.
Review 3:Quite challenging getting hot water to bathe which was uncomfortable especially because I was travelling with a child.
Review 4:My room was changed to a better room with view of the city at no extra charge, thanks to Charlie.
Review 5:I had an amazing room overlooking the sea,the buffet breakfasts are great, the hotel is well located for tourists and the staff were friendly and helpful. Really good value for money and an enjoyable stay
Review 6:Everything was fine.
Review 7:Good budget hotel. Nothing flash, but comfortable and well situated near the old city and the tram. Easy access from the airport. They provided us with early check in.
Review 8:No real complaints. The TV was too complicated for me to operate and the electrics were a bit flickery.
Review 9:The welcome from the staff was excellent. The staff were all very helpful and our rooms were cleaned everyday. We were given wifi code on arrival which is very good. The choices at breakfast was good for a small hotel. The hotel stored our luggage for us after checkout and also arranged our taxi to the airport. The overall service was excellent.
Review 10:The insolation of the wall could be better, you may hear something from other room.
Review 11:The hotel owner and staff are nice and helpful. The breakfast is great, with lot of choice and delicious. Location are very close to turist place. We have a nice room wih great view.
Review 12:I really have nothing negative to say, I would defiantly stay here again. The only thing that might bother some people was noise, it is an older building, so the insulation probably isn't the best. My room was by the front street, so there was some noise of kids outside playing on the street, but it didn't bother me personally.
Review 13:The staff here were wonderful, very welcoming and helpful. I had an early morning flight out the last morning I was there and they even offered to get me some breakfast in the middle of the night since I wouldn't be around for the usual 8-10am breakfast time. There is a nice little patio on the top of hotel where you can sit and eat and see a nice view of the sea. The breakfast was a great variety to choose from: different kinds of breads, cheeses, olives, cucumber, tomato, sandwhich meats, fried eggplant and other spreads for breads, yoghurt, cereals and milk, fresh fruit, all sorts of jellies for bread, teas, coffee, orange juice, hard boiled eggs, egg dish.... I believe I stayed in what they call an economy room on the ground level. The room wasn't fancy, but very clean and comfortable. The hotel is small and has a friendly personal feel to it, located about a 5 min walk from the Blue Mosque/sultanhamet. I am a young single female who waked to and from the hotel to transit line in the dark multiple times and had no problems with safety. There are plenty of street lights around also. I would recommend this place for friends to stay! It may not be a luxury hotel, but for someone wanting a reasonable priced, clean, safe place close to the tourist locations of Istanbul it's a very good fit.
Review 14:Can hear people in other rooms if they are noisy but nothing earplugs can't fix.
Review 15:Fantastic location, breakfast has lots of variety and ample food including Turkish speciaties, great city map and suggestions of where to visit, close to rail/metro etc. Very close to Blue Mosque and great traditional non-touristy cafes/restaurants in the other direction.
Review 16:The hotel is situated in a very central location, within walking distance to the monuments. We stayed at the top floor with stunning seaview from the balcony. The staff are eager to help with practicalities. Breakfast is so hearty and they offer many varieties, especially for veggies.
Review 17:- The thing which spoiled me all impression about this hotel is the offer of the man at the reception to provide me a free upgrade in change of a good review! That is totally against my principles! - Another thing - i got a room outside the hotel, on the terras in a garden house, and it was NOT what i saw on the foto's. Appearently they write that budget room can be on attick, ground flor or terras, but they DONT PUT the foto's of those rooms, thats why its really disappointing - the walls of that house are too thin and i heared all what my neighbourd were saying or doing - during the summer this room is great, as you have a terrace but in the late autumn its COLD there. Of cause you get a heater, but its such one that you wouldnt keep switched on all night for the safety - no hairdryer - as you can see on other reactions, you have to climb to get to the centre - too quite and thus scary neighbourhood at evening/night (i wouldnt go outside alone) - and the last minus is the way to this room: first go up, than down, than turn and again turn and once more, than you are outside. If its raining the path is slippery dangerous
Review 18:Though my first impression was COMPLETELY spoiled by such bad way to do bussiness, my second impression was good. - -- The staff was friendly. One of the guys working there helped me with my luggage, the other was helping me with printing of my tickets... - I had to leave early in the morning, and couldnt enjoy the great breakfast, but they provided me a huge sandwich and a coffee, it was really great - i got my welcome drink as was promissed on booking - in the bathroom was a complete set: shampoo, gel, etc. - the bed was good, though it were two matrasses together and than one more on them - the TV worked well and there was satelite - there was a nice terrace and not bad view, great for the summer - next to the mail attractions
Review 19:The bed was not comfortable at all.. the hotel room was very noisy and the water was not so hot..
Review 20:The hotel staff was amazing.. very helpful and friendly. .
Review 21:A little bit noisy room.
Review 22:Great location in the middle of Old city. Room was cleaned every day. Tasty breakfast. Very nice and helpful staff. We got warm welcome from receptionist Charlie upon arrival and detailed information about location and places to go. Also Malik is very professional and always open for questions and ready to help. They are very friendly and attentive. Thank you guys for your well done job.
Review 23:Standard rooms are small and extra if you want a view
Review 24:Good location in old city on Europe side (reasonable walking distance - but remember this is a very hilly area - or short tram rides to most tourist destinations); amazing international breakfast smorgasbord included.
Review 25:An uncomfortable bed, high audibility, a small room.
Review 26:A wonderful breakfast! Good WiFi connection. Convenient location directly in the center of the city. Very, very obliging staff!
Review 27:problems with electric power (lights) in the room, key was not easy to pull away, bed was hart
Review 28:staff was friendly and willing to help, nice view from the terrasse at the top of the building
Review 29:There was only a dribble of hot water in the shower and none in the basin but we made do.
Review 30:We opted for a deluxe double room with a balcony. It was an excellent choice. The view was fantastic! The included breakfast was excellent.
Review 31:Staff was excellent. Location couldn't have been better. We did research online and reviewed maps for days prior to making our reservation. In the end, we're really happy with Hotel Tulip House. We were able to take public transportation very conveniently from the hotel (only a few blocks away), while being equally close to the main sights in the historic district. Lots of restaurants nearby, too. Oh, and an amazing breakfast buffet in the morning- loved all the fresh produce and cheeses. Our room was pretty basic, but the a/c worked and that was my biggest requirement traveling in August as a pregnant woman.
Review 32:On the first night there was a problem with our room so the sent us to Mystic Hotel (beside them) That was one of the worst hotels that we have ever been.
Review 33:The location, the staff, the breakfast, the amazing terrace with a fantastic view
Review 34:Technical problems (bathroom sink, hot water) occured, however, one should remark that after mentioning the staff immediately started the reparation.
Review 35:Location, staff, breakfast
Review 36:They should be able to accomodate for whatever time guests would like to check in, even though we had to wait a couple of hours for our actual room the staff gave us a temporary room whilst our room got ready which was really good of them!
Review 37:Staff there were very hospitable and so helpful. Made our stay there very comfortable. Would definitely stay here again!
Review 38:Unfortunatelly, from the hotel you have to climb a hill to reach the main street. Fortunatelly, you climb the hill when you leave in the morning, not when you return from the city, tired after a day-long walking :) Big challenge if you have problems with your legs/knees.
Review 39:Quiet area, even is very close to the main touristic sites, very helpful staff, clean rooms, very nice view of the sea from the upper rooms.
Review 40:That the trip had finished early
Review 41:The staff was very friendly. The breakfast was very delicious with a wide variation. The rooms are large and clean . We were a large group we all were satisfied
Review 42:We booked a triple room and all that meant was a double room with an extra cot. The cot was not comfortable and rolled around and squeaked. Do not book this hotel for triple rooms.
Review 43:Bathrooms were very clean. I was impressed! The room was very quiet, no street noise and didn't wake up for the call to prayer. The breakfast was surprisingly good! Location is about a 5 minute walk from the Blue Mosque.
Review 44:In spite of our early booking (end of March) we didn't get our standard 3 bed room (for 3 adults). Instead we got a small size bed.... After arguing a bit, next day we got a new room with the booked condition plus sea view...
Review 45:Excellent location, near to all of the important buildings, you have to look at. Friendly and helpful staff. You must visit the top terrace in an evening with a bottle of red wine.
Review 46:The terrace is a great spot and should be made more comfortable for guests to sit and relax.
Review 47:We were within walking distance from the Blue Mosque and eating spots. The view from the terrace was fantastic. The staff (Azim esp.) was very helpful re sightseeing and what to do.
Review 48:well, hard to say....reserved a room with king size bed and there they gave us a room with two beds, after we told them , they give us a "sea side view " room with kisng size bed, but.....AC didnt work, bathroom was always full with water and the sea we couldnt see because there were in front of our window fire stairs, so we couldnt enjoy too much the view....when we wanted to pay, they said we have to pay the sea side room, but we explained that we didnt ask this, they gave it to us, we just wanted a king size bed room..... finally they understood. about location, its close to Sultanahmed area, but you have to climb a hill, wich sometimes it isnt too confortable. I dont know if we recomand it or not...
Review 49:breakfast and people from restaurant, a young man there that helped us with all our touble in the hotel.
Review 50:Incorrect room provided to us but the staff quickly sorted out the problem and gave us a new room.
Review 51:Free wi-fi a definite benefit, friendly staff and comfortable rooms. Very close - walking distance to main tourist attractions and tram way.
Review 52:The 3-bed room was extremely small, we barely had space to put our bags.
Review 53:The staff was the best, really friendly and helpful. We felt very welcome in this place. The location is amazing.
Review 54:There was nothing I did not like only that I was spending one night as I would have loved to stay longer.
Review 55:The location was great and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The upgrade of our room was a wonderful gesture and the room had a view. This was unexpected and very thoughtful. I shall definitely be returning.
Review 56:The cheapest rooms are not good. I advice to reserve the standard room from the beginning.
Review 57:The personnel is really great : helpful, nice, attentive. Thanks to them again. The hotel is good-located, the rooms are nice (prica/quolity).
Review 58:We came to hotel at night and meet hotels reception and his friend. They were very hospitality. And the room that has very beatiful view. Everything was perfect.Thank u for everything. I can suggest to you easily.
Review 59:TV didn't work, the room could be more clean... It is acceptable in case you want to safe money and don't stay all the day in the hotel.
Review 60:breakfast and location. Great view from balcony, comfortable bed.
Review 61:We reserved months ahead of our stay however upon arrival our rooms were not available. Instead hotel staff tried to move us to one of two hotels up the road (these hotels had poor reviews on booking.com and we refused to accept a lesser hotel). Even on the second day of our stay the sea view room with balcony we had booked still wasn't available and we had to accept the seaview no balcony on a lower floor. At the same time we were told our room wasn't available we checked the hotel availability on booking.com and there was full availability of all rooms. We saw the same thing happening to many others checking in and being told the same story that they need to go to the hotel up the road. The hotel itself is very ordinary, exposed wiring, tired and poor views even from the 2nd floor. There is definitely better value hotels in Istanbul than this (this is our second visit and this hotel disappointed). Staff are arrogant and rude and do not seem to understand that when we book at Tulip House we expect to stay at Tulip House and not the hotel up the road. Only stay here if you are happy to be relocated to another hotel at the discretion of the staff and don't mind if your balcony or view is downgraded.
Review 62:Leaving - hotel provided free transfers to airport. Thank you to the manager Omar.
Review 63:They did not have the room I had booked on our first night. It is a busy hotel but Sultan Palace hotel, next door is better value for money (we had family who stayed there).
Review 64:Location .... as access to the main road is very hilly (inclined) may not be easy for old people
Review 65:The staff are very friendly and helpful The breakfast buffet is nicely prepared with good variety
Review 66:Wonderful location. Couldn't be better. Warm hearted fun staff. Great stay after an initially challenging start but each concern we had was addressed promptly
Review 67:The sound of plumbing and voices from neighboring rooms was quite noticeable.
Review 68:Mehmet = 5 stars! Very helpful and friendly; made me feel right at home when I arrived early for check-in -- orienting me to the city (map) over a cup of turkish coffee.
Review 69:The staff were so helpful and friendly, all of us felt right at home! The breakfast was wonderful and the location of Tulip House isfantastic. It's only a 10 minute walk to Blue Mosque, and yetit's in a quiet neighborhood, so you don't have to worry aboutnoise. Thank you Tulip House :)
Review 70:The room was in the basement, the bed too soft, the first day there was no hot water, the garden restaurant was shabby and somewhat dirty
Review 71:Location in the center, pleasant people, wi-fi in the whole hotel, clean room, free slippers in the room
Review 72:Had to move rooms during stay, though confirmed booking in advance. If walking, be prepared to walk uphill to get into the city to catch the tram. Locals keen to win your business and are sometimes pushy.
Review 73:Friendly,helpful staff - breakfast was always fresh - good advice available. Istanbul interesting to visit - good food available within 15 minute walk. Locals also helpful and friendly.
Review 74:nothing
Review 75:View to the Bosporus from the room and the roof terrace, friendly staff, all the main attraction within walking distance, This hotel is a good choice to discover the old part of Istanbul.
Review 76:Guys at reception were awesome. They contacted me prior to arrival in Facebook and advised on how to get to the hotel best. There was a guy at the hotel who spoke Russian which made us feel almost like home :) Azim gave us the Istanbul map showed us on the map where the most of the sightseeing places were. Nice breakfast. Great location and seaview from the room :)
Review 77:Far too many stairs to climb from the budget room up and down to the breakfast room (an adjacent property) VERY DANGEROUS ELECTRICAL PLUGS, This needs attention - they were so bad they were almost laughable.
Review 78:The location of the hotel
Review 79:My television did not work for the whole time even if they said they would fix it
Review 80:All the staff was wonderful Specially Azim Breakfast very good, newly renovated good rooms.
Review 81:Unfriendly staff and hotel difficult to find, even for locals.
Review 82:Breakfast was good, student Hassim( having been employed for two weeks prior to our arrival) was very helpful and friendly.
Review 83:the stairs were very narrow, dangerous and difficult without indication. A labyrinth for older people ( 70 +)
Review 84:The beautiful view to the Bosporus from my balcony, but you have to pay for it
Review 85:The hotel entrance is not as what is displayed in the picture any more. Actually Hotel Tulip House brought another hotel just next door, therefore they are using the same entrance. But it's not well indicated and when you arrive in the night, how awful !! The room doesn't seem to be well prepared since there is minibar but nothing inside, neither air condition remote control.
Review 86:very kind and helpful staff, generous breakfast, good location (5 minutes walk to blue mosque) and reasonable price makes right value for the money
Review 87:The only difficulty was finding the place as it is in a backstreet and Taxi did not know where to find it - all visitors must take an accurate map with them.
Review 88:Friendly efficient staff made me feel welcome and the room was very neat and clean. Good quality finishes and wide selection for breakfast.
Review 89:There was a little bit of trouble and miscommunication in email exchanges before our arrival. We requested a car be arranged to bring us from the airport, but the car never showed up. Otherwise a great stay.
Review 90:Location. Friendly staff. Value. To compensate for a mix-up in the rooms (only one of two had a sea-view), the staff arranged a free taxi ride back to the airport.
Review 91:The Internet connection is not so reliable.
Review 92:The place is really nice and situated in a 5-7 minute walk distance from the spot with a lot of sightseeing places (Sofia, Cisterna Basilica, Blue Mosque, etc). The owners are really friendly and helpful.
Review 93:nothing bad.
Review 94:because it's not busy season, they upgrade our room to the best with no more charge. good staff, good wifi, good location, great room, nice breakfast. perfect!
Review 95:I liked everything.
Review 96:The hotel is located 5 minutes walk from the Hippodrome, 10 minutes walk from the Topkapi Palace. Very nice stuff, especially the lady who was preparing breakfast. She made for us Turkish coffee every day. The room was clean and it was tidied up every day. We were very satisfied with our stay in this property.
Review 97:The staff is excellent, rooms are always clean and warm! The hotel location is great (5 min walk from the same heart of the city). Special thanks for the girl who was making us amazing breakfast and turkish coffee with a smile!
Review 98:A roof trace will be great. I booked budget double room which was crammed for space but there was large cupboard, dressing table, two side tables too.
Review 99:This was our first visit to Istanbul and first time we travelled with our son who is 7 month old. We loved the city and its people. The staff are more then helpful and welcoming. Specially the lady called Sana was very loving, My son was always looking for her when ever we went for breakfast in the morning. Omar (hotel manager) and 2 other hotel reception staff where always there to help you. Will go back to that hotel every time and any time.
Review 100:- The new cleaning staff was very careless.
Review 101:- the breakfast was delicious. Sanae, the woman who was responsible for the breakfast was very polite and she did everything to please the guests. She was always smiling and very friendly. We thank her for her friendly approach. -Khalid, the manager is a very helpful and polite person, we will not forget his kindness. He gave us enough information about the city. We had not the opportunity to say goodbye. Unfortunately, we did not have the opportunity to meet Omar. The day we left the hotel he was on a vacation. We greet the rest of the staff ot the hotel. Bukraa Abdelmajid
Review 102:Breakfast really good! The room was confortable and the manager is the best person I have ever met! Its a really friendly place...whatever you need, they will help you! And its close to everything...The place is worth!
Review 103:If you are arriving by the public transportation with suitcases you will probably have some dificulty to carry it on the brick streets, but not a big problem. I needed one more night because my flight was canceled, and even that booking.com has showed me some vacant rooms the manager said that the hotel has fully booked. So I have the doubt if they could be overbooking the rooms!
Review 104:The breakfast is excelent, bed is very comfortable and everything worked as it should. Nothing to complain.
Review 105:everything was great!!!!
Review 106:It was our first trip in Istanbul and we were very nervous about everything!! We'd searched a lot before we made the rezervation at Tulip House Hotel. First of all, the location is perfect!! It's only 5 min from Ayasofia and Blue Mosque, everything is nearby!! Furthermore, staff was great!!! they were helpful, kind and most of all really pleasant!! They made us feel like home... In addition to that, the room was better than we expected!! it was big enough, there was cleaning every day, hot water all day long and ,the most important, it was very warm during all day and night! we went the first week of February so the weather was cold enough but there wasn't any problem with that at the hotel room...Finally, breakfast was rather excellent, with lots of traditional plates, fruits and turkish coffee for everyone in favor!! we are really looking forward to go again in Istanbul and of course we are gonna choose Tulip once again!!!
Review 107:Have to say - one of the best stays ever. The staff were super helpful, our room was comfortable and had a great view. Location is fantastic. We had a great time here. Hope to come back soon)
Review 108:the wifi is quite poor in the room but excellent at the reception. the hotel room is spacious, facilities are good, within my budget. the hotel is quite far from metro station Cemberlitas and have to go up and down the hill to reach. The staffs are good, trustworthy and helpful. just in case u have bundles of luggage on your arrival day, it may not be recommended. the view from the hotel balcony is nice.
Review 109:With a reasonable price, I can get a comfortable room with a mini terrace. It provided me more relax by listening to the seabird all night and in the morning. I also got the warm treat from the staff while I was there as well.
Review 110:none
Review 111:This was my 4th visit to Istanbul. We simply loved the hotel. The staff was very helpful and nice. They did everything to help in all requests we had. The location of the hotel is very good. We walked a lot. It was easy to get from the Ataturk Airport to the Hotel using Metro and T1 Tram line. Get off at Cemberlitas station and walk down the street.Use Istanbul card for the city transportation as it is cheaper and easier. Breakfast was very good. A nice lady who greets you in the morning with genuine smile and offers homemade breakfast. If I travel to Istanbul, I would stay there again. Thank you for a great stay.
Review 112:Nothing! All is lovely!
Review 113:----Omar, the owner of the hotel is a very nice guy who will do the best to make you comfortable, just feel like home. ----Staff are very helpful: the housekeepers, do cleaning everyday; the women in the kitchen for the breakfast, very friendly and lovely; the guys at the reception are willing to help you solve any problems. ----Excellent location, just 5minute walking to the blue mosque. ----The sea views from the balcony are amazing!!
Review 114:No elevator and a tight winding staircase.
Review 115:Good location, although a little hard to locate at night. Close major sites, but a little away from the heavily touristed streets. Our room was good with a great view of the Sea of Mamara. Great breakfast!
Review 116:I checked out at 3 am. Front counter agent called a taxi but hewhispered something to taxi driver who didn't turned on countingmachine. It was so strength. He charged me much more than it should be(50 tl to airport)!!! When I complained about the charge he refereed meto receptionist in hotel!!!! Every time you want to go to street youhave to rise a big slope. Around the hotel there are some ruins.
Review 117:Value for money, WiFi ,
Review 118:•Wifi could be better
Review 119:•Location- very convenient, 5 mins walk to Blue Mosque & Grand Bazaar, tram stop •Breakfast selection not bad •room & bathroom clean & comfortable
Review 120:No elevator, so ask for a lower floor, if needed. Having a balcony is worth the climb. The room safe was not securely installed in our room. It was actually mobile, so it could be picked up and moved. The shower door was slightly broken, so large amounts of water would leak onto the floor.
Review 121:The rooms with the balcony and sea view are fantastic. We were on the 4th floor. It was quiet and we actually love hearing the prayer calls from the nearby mosque. There is no elevator, but the staff handled our luggage. The breakfast is delicious and a large spread. Eating outside overlooking the sea and neighborhood was a lovely way to start the day. This hotel is in walking distance to most anything you want to do, especially the main sights in the historic district. We also recommend using their airport &/or cruise ship private transfer service. They use a large luxury van and it's economical and dependable. Much better than a Istanbul taxi. Also, their kitchen provides filtered water (don't use water from the bathroom sinks), but we grabbed bottles from the nearby store.
Review 122:- thin walls - to small garbage bin in the room, but that might just be a problem for families ;-)
Review 123:-everyone was very friendly with your baby -helpful staff - good selection for breakfast -central location
Review 124:the only demerit were the stairs to the top floor very steep but keeps you fit.
Review 125:The staff were fantastic, breakfast was brillant the accommodation was great and would highly recommend this venue, value for money.
Review 126:That I couldn't stay in Istanbul longer!
Review 127:Price was good, service was fantastic. Breakfast was sufficient and tasted good. Kitchen and cleaning staff was excellent ;), front desk team was top notch, very helpful and friendly.
Review 128:No lift.
Review 129:The freshly cooked breakfast was delicious! The staff were very helpful. Hotel was in a quiet area within walking distance to the major attractions.
Review 130:The owner has a lot of knowledge where to visit and thinks about guests. I appreciate that he was really open to answer cultural questions, too. There are variety of breakfast at the garden terrace which has the ocean view.
Review 131:- owner and staff very friendly and helpful - room with balcony nice having great view on Marmara Sea - nice breakfast location with possibility to have breakfast outside
Review 132:There is nothing that I did not like about this hotel. I would suggest not to take a basement room though, can get a bit noisy. wonderful hotel!
Review 133:i am a 24yr old girl and stayed at tulip house for 6nights with my mom and aunt. everything is perfect about this hotel. good location. happy and friendly staff. u feel welcome and at home! hotel is clean, inside the rooms and in the rest of the hotel. food was very nice-wide variety and always fresh. very sweet and cozy. oh and also have a bit of sea view from the balcony-very pieceful. lovely hotel, would definitely stay there again and would recommend it to everyone!
Review 134:No elevator to top floor, although the climb is very do able.
Review 135:Loved the fresh buffet with good home cooking. Comfortable rooms with a good mattress and sheets. The view from our room with a balcony was absolutely beautiful. Helpful concierge that answered all of our questions. Very close (5-8 minutes) to Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, and other major attractions in Sultanahmet.
The Fine Print
Please note that the hotel has no elevator service.
