Reviews for Coyote Mountain Lodge
Review 1:the room smelled like it had a gas leak. Tub was disgusting the housekeeper didn't come until 5:00 pm!!! Had to ask for blankets--none on the beds-it was 5*!!!
Review 2:cheap
Review 3:The beds could have used a comforter instead of thin blankets but otherwise still comfortable. Just remember to bring your own blankets and you'll be fine. Price was a little high for its worth though.
Review 4:The rooms were clean, warm, and comfortable. The decor was up to date and nice.
Review 5:Not necessarily a bad experience, just a suggestion. The door to the bathroom should be out by the sink so the heater doesn't burn the door. Could be a fire hazard.
Review 6:The gal at the check in desk was very friendly and professional.
Review 7:Heater was outdated restroom to small and rug was a bit to ruff. Got woken up twice by a police officer knocking on next door window in pm and am hours.
Review 8:Clean
Review 9:I was a little shocked by the size of the room. We booked a deluxe room and it was quite small, but we only slept there, so it was alright.
Review 10:The location was pretty good as it was a couple minute drive into town. The room was small, but very clean. The girls at the front desk were wonderful.
Review 11:The carpeting was pretty dated which kind of gave it an unclean feel -- just the carpet.
Review 12:The price was great for just an overnight stay, and I loved that I got to have my wifi for free
Review 13:The bathroom size, pictures were misleading
Review 14:So the pictures of the hotel were a little misleading, but for the area great price, bathroom could have been a little bigger, it was very small. The room was not updated as the picture showed. However it is still a bed which is what you need :)
Review 15:The bathroom was small and it could use updating.
Review 16:The mountain area was wonderful. It was close to the lake and saw alot of Elk. The room was big and nice.
Review 17:They need more parking.
Review 18:You can tell they have put some money into updating the property. The room with the king bed was small but all we needed was a place to sleep, not hang out. Very clean and comfortable.
Review 19:Construction noise could have been an issue if you wanted to sleep in.
Review 20:The motel was clean and the bed was comfortable. The room itself was a good size, the bathroom was a little small, but I've stayed with smaller bathrooms in bigger cities. For the location and price, this really was a decent value.
Review 21:The room was clean, but not glamorous. It was simple and served our needs.
Review 22:Nice views, friendly staff, location to Estes and Rocky Mountain National Park, large room, couch in room.
Review 23:When they remodel the rooms, they need to replace the carpet. At least in my room there were dark spots and it seemed dirty
Review 24:Friendly staff, location is convenient to everything. Good value for price
Review 25:WiFi has serious issues; super slow and disconnects often (not that I really used it that much anyway). Rooms have a tiny little air conditioner that barely does the job. The heater is really vintage (didn't use it, but just noticed that it's ancient). No extras such as an iron or blow dryer, but that didn't bother me. Mattress was saggy.
Review 26:Good, basic, serviceable motel, when all you're really concerned about is having a decent place to stay that's close to RMNP. Nice little fridge and microwave in the room.
Review 27:The bathroom was awful, needs to be updated. Very small, didn't look that tiny in the picture online. No coffee in the lobby after 7pm
Review 28:We liked the room, good size, comfy bed and nice linens.
Review 29:The staff did accommodate an early check-in so we could freshen up for an event. However, upon opening the hotel room door we were greeted with the stinch of odor - mold all over the shower. There was a crack along the side and bottom of the door. My mother and I severe asthma and asked to be a different room as it was making us both very sick. The staff refused until several phone calls. The new room was decent but lacked proper ventilation and smelled of mold but there was no mold in the shower. After hours office staff was much more friendly and helpful than day staff.
Review 30:Estes Park is beautiful this time of year.
Review 31:The newly renovated rooms are gorgeous, the older ones (which we were placed in originally) are pretty outdated, and the bathroom was so small we couldn't lift our arms easily in the shower. Also, the sign to the hotel does not light up at night, very hard to see where to pull in once it's dark.
Review 32:The staff was very accommodating when we ended up having to switch rooms. Facility was nice, beautifully updated in the renovated area, fairly quiet except early morning construction for renovations. Very comfortable bed, can't beat how affordable this hotel is.
Review 33:Room was not well insulated so I heard everything outside and my neighbors. Furniture and carpet looked well worn and old.
Review 34:The price was good and staff were friendly. The room was clean.
Review 35:The first room we were in had a tiny, uncomfortable bathroom. There was only a small shower, and the door opened in the tiny room, resting against the commode.
Review 36:Jake, at the office was so accommodating that he made everything easy.
Review 37:No place to sit down. 1 room was very small - fit just the beds, the door had to be cut donw in size to make sure it cleared the bed. Very old furnishings.
Review 38:It had 3 queen beds, price was cheap.
Review 39:This was a very good place to stay the staff was very accommodating is a older place but you can tell they are making every effort to keep it updated will stay there again
Review 40:Rooms were old and in desperate need of some major updating. Definitelynot worth the $150.00/night we paid. They were as clean as you canmake a 50-60 yr old facility. The bathroom sink was pink, does that tellyou how old this place is and how little updating has been done? Doorlock not very secure, added security was an old fashioned chain, nophone to contact office, had to walk to office every time we had aquestion/issue. Had we paid $50.00 a night I wouldn't complain, but as the saying goes, it's location, as well as timing. And weunfortunately/unknowingly picked the weekend of the ScottishFestival which increased the price considerably.
Review 41:We had a great view of a herd of Elk right out the front door.
Review 42:Price
Review 43:Its nearby Rocky Mtn Nat park, which raises the price and is in my opinion higher dan you should give for a room like this. No breakfast included Staff was friendly
Review 44:Our room smelled like an ash-tray. All the rooms are no-smoking but somebody missed this one during cleaning. However, the great staff at the front desk offered to move us if another room became available and gave us a bottle of Febreeze in the mean time and discounted our stay.
Review 45:We enjoyed the jacuzzi and pool in the evening. The staff was really nice.
Review 46:Rooms were rather basic. Air conditioner was not quite strong enough.
Review 47:Easy and early check-in. Nice view of mountains. Not hard to find. Coffee was good in lounge area in a.m.
Review 48:This is a very clean, good quality, well maintained motel, within minutes of the main attractions in Estes Park, and a few miles from the entrance to the Rock. It is a very good value for the price.
Review 49:Tub was older and needed refinishing. AC was old and didn't cycle correctly at night . AC would wake you up at night.
Review 50:Value for the money. Really went to Estes Park for the scenery not for the motel. Sitting at picnic table outside of room and whole family of elk walked by. WOW !!
Review 51:Door to room not secure and need up-grade WIFI service.
Review 52:Located close to Main business district and not too far from Rocky Mtn. Natl. Park. They still use room keys, which was nostalgic. Parked car right infront of room entrance which was handicap friendly.
Review 53:I thought the Inn was overpriced! Window air conditioners in 2015?? Ours froze up and the temperature that day was in the 90's. I could not have stayed more than one day in that hotel.
Review 54:Inadequate electrical outlets. Didnt even have enough outlets to plug in refrigerator, microwave, and tv at the same time. Couldn't find enough outlets to recharge phones and tablets
Review 55:Our original room smelled musty and the bathroom didnt have towels: sink wouldnt drain and old.
Review 56:Friendly staff who gave us a diff room after conplaining. Awesome views: elk right outside our windows. Had a good pool and decent hottub that worked. Second room after complaint: nicer bathroom, carpet, and scent.
Review 57:Our a/c didn't work perfectly. Real glasses would have been nice instead of plastic cups.
Review 58:Did we miss breakfast? Didn't know about that. For an older building, it was well maintained and looked like it was recently painted.
Review 59:Room was so small with no place for suitcases or clothes. Noisy upstairs so get a room above rather than below. Parking lot needs a lot of work.
Review 60:The bed and pillows were excellent. Newly remodeled room. Wifi was good.
Review 61:Sink was clogged - wouldn't drain, air conditioning unit "clicked" all night long, coffee grounds were still in the pot from former guests -yuck!
Review 62:Ok for a one night stay but wouldn't stay much longer. Curious if the condos are nicer?!
Review 63:I didn't like the fact it was on the main drag made it hard sometimes to get through all the traffic.
Review 64:good rooms for a motel staff was friendly pool was a plus for the price of the motel cant complain. I know that they are rehabbing the motel my room was nicer than expected from other pics out there so may be different for each room in the motel good luck
Review 65:No coffee in room. Office doesn't open untill 7a. Large gap under door for bugs to enter which do. 130 rate for very old rundown property on outskirts of town no bargain.
Review 66:Wifi
Review 67:The air conditioner was poor and the curtains remained in the way of the air flow.
Review 68:bed was comfortable and the staff was excellent. Great spot just on the edge of town.
Review 69:The sheets seem to small for bed and was irritating to some in our group. Wish they offered breakfast.
Review 70:Great view, close to town but away from the crowd. We had 3 rooms ages from 2 to 73 all right next to each other perfect for our group. Pool was nice. Rooms were clean and updated.
Review 71:Pool was closed.... broken wifi sucked shower had loose tiles and was in need of desperate upgrades, hot water was a hit or miss. When I brought it to the staff's attention they did nothing.... this is a 39.99 a night bargain basement motel at best also no breakfast. For the money I feel I was ripped off!
Review 72:The surrounding scenery
Review 73:No place to put our toiletries in the bathroom. No any dining area in the room even it has a fridge and a microwave. It is not comfortable at all. It was nice and cool at night but windows are permanently sealed.
Review 74:Located near the Estes Lake. Has a good view from the window.
Review 75:The Wi-Fi wasn't working during our stay due to the rain which was a bummer.
Review 76:Bed was very comfortable. The rooms are a little small, particularly the bathroom, but it still was nice.
Review 77:The hotel was old and needed many upgrades, but it looked like the new owners had plans to work on it.
Review 78:The location was good. It was close to the Bryce National Park and Zion. We had a suite that included 3 connected rooms and a bathroom. We had enough room for 6 and didn't have to rent a separate room. The family who owns it keeps it clean. The owners are super nice and friendly. We did not look for anything fancy on the road trip. We mostly spent time outdoors. The hotel served us very well.
Review 79:Would be nice to have more convenient outlets to charge phones such asbedside lamps with built in outlets. Wifi was nonexistent.
Review 80:The room was spotless including the window sills!!! The property is alittle dated, but it is obvious updates such as faucets & showershave been made. There is so much to see and do in Estes Park that youwon't be spending much time in the room except to sleep! The viewfrom the room is gorgeous!!!
Review 81:The heating unit (furnace) was ALWAYS on. No way of controlling room temperature!
Review 82:The bed was confortable. The staff was very friendly and the room was always clean. Changed the bedding and towels every day.
Review 83:The bathrooms were very outdated and while most likely fairly clean they did not appear clean with all the stains. Carpet was sticky, work and stained and most concerning NO internet access while advertised as free we never could get on. The desk reset and still could not get on. The desk person said "well we are at the end of the line, so you probably won't get on."
Review 84:The bed was clean and very comfortable.
Review 85:WiFi was weak
Review 86:Staff was awesome, very friendly and informative. Rooms were nice, with refrigerator and microwave. Good location to explore Estes Park area.
Review 87:After booking, we upgraded to a king deluxe to have a refrigerator. The cost to upgrade was not worth it because the refrigerator was tiny, tiny, tiny!
Review 88:The staff was excellent and the room, though basic, was clean. The pool was clean and the water was very warm. The hot tub was nice, but very small.
Review 89:We were alarmed when we found a bedbug and realized that both of us had several bites. We were quickly sent to the Discovery Lodge but apparently they were in our luggage and bit us there also, decontamination ruined the rest of our trip,
Review 90:Staff was friendly and helpful .
Review 91:The only bad thing is that there is no elevator - not a big deal unless the guests are older with bad knees. Next time I will ask for a ground level room. Other than that - no problems at all.
Review 92:I look forward to our trips to the Coyote Mountain Lodge and cannot wait to go back. Great views - great location. Affordable - which is why we have chosen to stay here a couple of times and many more times in the future.
Review 93:Thought the room was kind of small. You need to put clothes hooks on the back of the bathroom door. Need more places to hang up clothes.
Review 94:Seeing the elk in the morning grazing on the grass in front of the building.
Review 95:I booked this hotel instead of others because it had a pool that I could relax in after hiking but it was closed for repainting. Why repaint it in June!!!! Also the wifi dropped out a few time.
Review 96:The room was clean and comfortable and had a decent view of the Rockies.
Review 97:2nd person in double room would be unable to see TV from their bed, property extremely dark at night (lack of exterior lighting) The only had 2 issues while there. 1. The smoke alarm chirping at 4am – probably due to low battery. (These need to be checked at least once a month). 2. It was freezing at night. The old school heating/furnace system was completely foreign to me as I had never seen/used one before and there were no instructions. Also there was a window unit in the room that did not work either. As the office was closed I could not call for assistance. Luckily with the extra blanket from the unused extra bed I was able to warm up. Be aware that there are limited office hours so you will need to call to make sure someone will be there to check you in particularly if you are checking in after say 9pm.
Review 98:Clean, Comfy, Close to Rocky Mountain National Park, large room, free wifi, in room recycle bin, in room fridge/microwave
Review 99:Bathroom was very small with no counter space. Bed was average in comfortability. Ceilings a little thin, could hear heavy footsteps above us pretty easily.
Review 100:Great location just minutes from downtown Estes park. Our room had a great view of the mountains. Booked early and got a cheap room rate with acceptable accommodations. Let's be real, you're in Estes park to be outside, not hang in a room. It gets the job done.
Review 101:On the first night I reported a problem with the plumbing in my bathroom. Within 15 minutes their maintenance guy came around to have a look and give me a temporary workaround. The next morning he fixed the plumbing while I was out on a walk.
Review 102:The room was good, they had good bathing products even though they were complimentary, the front desk was open till 11pm and had options for kids to play around with toys and stuff, hot chocolate, Green Tea all day.... Located close to all accessible areas.. shopping, food, sightseeing...
Review 103:There was no smoke detector in our room and the "vintage" heating system popped when it clicked off. The heater was difficult to regulate. The walls were not insulated for sound and we could hear the other guests.
Review 104:Comfortable bed. Some updating had been done.
Review 105:Wifi (as with all places in the wilderness) was terrible. "breakfast" was non-existent and most of the staff was new which made asking questions difficult.
Review 106:Location. Really an ideal place to access the park in a cool city.
Review 107:the only thing I didn't like was the in room coffee it turned out weak both times we made it.
Review 108:I liked the location. The coziness and the staff and I really liked the view from our room.
Review 109:Not a bad experience ... just disappointed. Called a "lodge" and the descriptions made it sound better. It was just an old 50's vintage motel. The views were not good. The room was sort of dingy and very small. The mattress felt very old. The microwave did not work properly (buttons didn't work when pushed). Just little things like that which made it seem less than classy.
Review 110:The staff was very good, very accommodating and friendly. A 3-4 minute drive to the main area of Estes park.
Review 111:Could have had a more comfortable mattress.
Review 112:We were very happy with our stay. The motel was very clean. The staff were professional, friendly and very helpful. We will definitely stay there on our next visit.
Review 113:Jacuzzi was down, which was a big disappointment. The entrance is a steep hill that is very difficult to spot from the road...
Review 114:Staff was great - very helpful. Good location. One of the least expensive alternatives in Estes Park, got mostly what we expected, so good value.
Review 115:Very old hotel, quite dirty too (hairs everywhere). Very noisy. Internet worked really poorly. They offer coffee (no food included, even though is pretty pricy) but lobby was not open so not even coffee. Totally not worthy for the money, I will not stay again.
Review 116:Nothing really.
Review 117:For a newly remodeled room the bed was very hard and uncomfortable, the pillows were flat and hard, there was a gap under door that allowed the cold air in the room and several wall sockets did not work.
Review 118:Room was very clean
Review 119:The beds. They were somewhat comfortable, but noisy and old for an updated room along with a sometimes "running" toilet valve".
Review 120:Jake rocked with his customer service. Places to eat and visit! Whatever we needed, he did his best!
Review 121:Been visiting this motel for 50 years, under different names and management. They current owners have upgraded the facilities to an excellent value.....nice, clean, quiet, comfortable and one of the lowest priced in Estes. No fancy spas, gyms etc, but you didn't come here to hang around the hotel. The pool is nice, though.
Review 122:Needed a ceiling fan for air movement hot or cold.
Review 123:All the employee's were great to deal with and the motel was clean and comfortable. We will stay their again.
Review 124:The furnace ran all night despite turning off the thermostat in our apt. It was hot. The garbage disposal smelled real bad.
Review 125:We stayed in one of the apartments on the back of the property. It was quiet with a nice view and a great balcony to sit out on.
Review 126:Did not feel terribly secure, doors and locks seemed flimsy. Did not enjoy the vintage heater with eye level vent directly into bathroom.
Review 127:Affordable and clean.
Review 128:There was a smell that smokers had stayed in our room in the past and the carpet, the old pine paneling reeked of stale smoke. The older tv and old pink 60's sink was a not so pleasant surprise. I just don't think the room lived up to the pictures on the internet.
Review 129:Comfortable bed
Review 130:Parking spots very narrow. A huge truck next to hours used part of our space making it very difficult to park.
Review 131:Young couple is renovating older motel and doing excellent job. Staff very helpful.
Review 132:The only reason we wouldn't give this five stars is the free wi-fi was spotty and the thermostat seemed to stay stuck at 75, which made for a very toasty night (could have been user error, but we did manage to get it down one night until housekeeping turned it up again). Also, the kitchen could use another pot or two. The only pan was a shallow sauce/frying pan which fortunately was deep enough to cook spaghetti in but not by much.
Review 133:Loved the location of the Coyote Mountain Lodge - it is located on Big Thompson Road, just a 5 minute drive or 20 minute walk from downtown. We stayed in Jack 1 (the 2 bedroom apartment), which had amazing views and everything we needed included a full kitchen, 2 bedrooms/baths, fireplace and living area. It far exceeded our expectations and we would definitely recommend it for anyone wanting to stay for more than a day or two. It was nice being able to cook and eat in during our four day stay in October.
Review 134:NOTHING!
Review 135:My two girlfriends and I loved everything about our stay. The staff went out of their way to switch rooms so we would be more comfortable. The room was GREAT. View was beautiful.Totally relaxing and enjoyable.
Review 136:Smallest room EVER!!! Pillows flat even when stacked three deep. Impossible to move around in the bathroom-tub in disrepair-close to sleepless night.
Review 137:Wi-Fi didn't work in our room and the blanket on the sofa had stains on it. The bathroom was small.
Review 138:Location is very good for trips to Estes and Bear Lake area. The bed was comfortable.
Review 139:The rooms are much too small. The bathroom is for one person. Window Air Conditioner is noisy, and doesn't cool. Furniture is old, and room needs a re-decoration. WiFi is very poor. Wooden walkway between unit buildings was noisy.
Review 140:The location is its best quality. The bed was comfortable. Parking was close to rooms.
Review 141:The bathroom was in need of a major renovation. The shower drain was so slow i had to turn the shower off half way through so it didn't over flow. There weren't many outlets in room to charge my phone so i had to unplug a.c. unit to do so. Not the greatest motel experience.
Review 142:The location.
