Reviews for Murphy's River Lodge
Review 1:The room was so cozy and comfortable!! Also, the staff was very friendly and fun! Loved everything about it and will not hesitate to book with them again!
Review 2:The location felt out of town, but was walking distance to shops and restaurants. There were games, books and movies in the office and a DVD player in the room. Staff was down to earth and friendly! I had an upstairs room which had a great view, was large yet cozy and comfortable enough for an extended stay.
Review 3:This was a great property. Josh greeted us at the front desk and was able to upgrade us to a room with a fireplace, balcony, and on the river. Large room, with flat screen, couch, and king bed. Very clean. There was a free breakfast that was also good and the room was kept clean by Pam. Very nice and organized.
Review 4:There was no one on duty during the night. We were given contact numbers to call, but if one does not have a cell phone there was no way to contact them or the police in an emergency. That was because there were no phones in the room. Not good.
Review 5:The location
Review 6:Thought the stated pet fee of $20 per pet per nigh a little pricey. Lookforward to integrating of pet policy and availability via Booking.com
Review 7:Loved the off season value of the riverside suite with kitchen, fireplace and seating area. Comfy bed. Great pillows. Lending videolibrary. Outdoor fire pits. Great hot tub/pool. Good wifi. Generousbreakfast options. Party room. Thank you Annette and josh for helpingmake our stay possible.
Review 8:We were surprised how close it was to the main street where all the shops are in Estes Park. It was a five minute walk. The rooms are nice and we will defiantly stay again next time we are in Estes Park.
Review 9:Can be difficult to get someone after 8pm.
Review 10:Staff was nice, friendly and helpful. Location was a short walk from the main strip in Estes so that was excellent. Very clean and warm. Extra bonus was being able to make a fire at an outside pit and wood was supplied!
Review 11:Property that was shown on the internet site was not the same as we expected. had to pay more for the room we "thought we had"! Would I return? Yes.........
Review 12:Comfort, surroundings, and facilities!
Review 13:The location is ideal, on the river, walking distance to downtown, and a very close drive to Rocky Mt Natl Park. Rooms have good beds, are very clean and ours was right on the river. Staff is great. It was a pleasant stay.
Review 14:Carpet was very worn and the floors were extremely uneven. The locks on windows, sliding glass door don't work. The only lock that did work was on the front door and that was not very good although Estes Park does seem pretty safe.
Review 15:Excellent location with friendly, helpful staff. Loved the balcony above the running stream.
Review 16:Tiny patio by river was not worth the upgrade....no privacy there... expensive for the upgrade, thought by the pictures on the internet that we would be able to walk by the water.
Review 17:great breakfast: wonderful, friendly, competent lady room very clean.....not enough space to put things
Review 18:Need to tell guests about free picture in the rocking chair. We didn't know until we were leaving. The towels were pretty small, thin and rough.
Review 19:The indoor pool was great for the kids. The staff were all very accomodating, especially the "breakfast lady".
Review 20:Very clean and hospitable property. The breakfast room is very nice and a great way to start the day. Hot tub great after a day of hiking. Great location to walk to town and restaurants. Be sure and get your picture taken in the big chair!
Review 21:This an older lodging, but set in a pretty setting overlooking a stream. There were elks wandering not concerned about people and traffic. The room is somewhat updated and it was pleasant to have use of fireplace and a library of movies to watch.
Review 22:Rooms could use new carpet and some updating, but a great place to stay.
Review 23:The location of the motel was great, just a short walking distance from downtown and also a short drive to Rocky Mountain National Park.
Review 24:The room was a good size for two people for a week. It is conveniently located to the bypass so that we didn't have to travel through downtown to get to the grocery store.
Review 25:The woman managing the breakfast area was very unfriendly when we arrived at 9:45. Told us we needed to be out by ten. I was under the impression that breakfast was served until ten, but if we needed time to eat it, that would be fine.
Review 26:We liked the location very much!
Review 27:Not that I didn't like it.I'm not used to the sound of bears or a bear trying to get into a dumpster in the early morning. Since I'm from the plains of Colo. I hear a lot of cows mooing and coyotes howling.
Review 28:Friendly staff, location clean spacious room private bath the amenities . Was satisfied
Review 29:It could have been cleaner. The carpet smell and looked old and wet, the towers smelled a bit. Overall, I think it can do with a little bit more of cleanliness.
Review 30:Staff Service, River View, Room in General. I liked that they had shampoo and soap in the shower and hand washing soap in the bathroom.
Review 31:It was very loud, we waked up several times in the night because of theneighbours above us. Nobody was reachable during the night, as nobody isat the desk after 9pm. There is only a phonenumber to call, but no phonein the room. After we complained in the moring at the reception desk andwe asked for a deduction, as we habe been awake nearly all night, theytold us, "Sorry, but we can't do a deduction". The mostfunny thing is: By checking in you have to sign very extensive tradingconditions, where you have to agree to pay usd 250 for nearly everythingou do, even if you disturb other guest by beiing noisy). We complainedalso direct by the owners in their other location (Murphys Resort) buther reaction was nothing but a shrug. On the other hand, it was clean, a simple Motel, but noisy and unstaffed.
Review 32:It was clean, location in walking distance ( only 15 minutes) to town, parking in front of room - motel.
Review 33:Josh has to be one of the most friendly motel personnel I've ever met and Pam in the breakfast room is the same. My wife said we would definitely stay there again.
Review 34:The AC was hit and miss but with the windows open we really didn't need it.
Review 35:We loved the close proximity to Main Street and shopping. The breakfast was nice and sitting by the river was calming in the morning with a good cup of coffee. We also loved the fire pit at night and meeting new people. Overall was a positive experience and we will definitely return.
Review 36:The location was great. The room was large with a refrigerator/freezer and a microwave. We were right on the river which was very nice. The staff was friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay here again.
Review 37:Wished there could have been another fire pit. They didn't take our picture in the giant rocking chair which was mentioned on their website until I asked someone about it in the office
Review 38:The quaint river flowing in the background. Nice grills and picnic tables
Review 39:Bathroom is tiny and basic (as are the bathroom towels and toiletries). Room decor is somewhat dated.
Review 40:Clean and comfortable room. Free movie library in the office (was very handy when our son didn't feel well). Outdoor seating along the river. Nice location close to town. We didn't use the indoor pool or the hot tub but they looked clean. Very nice staff. Fridge/freezer in room was very convenient.
Review 41:My only complaint was that it rained too much, but that was nature's doing and beyond control of Murphy's.
Review 42:Friendly and attentive staff. Great breakfast with friendly attendant. Withing walking distance to downtown shopping. Located on the free shuttle route, if you choose not to walk. Located on the river with a seating area, bbq grills, and fire pit with wood (bring your own fire starter). Clean and quiet. We had adjoining rooms which made for a nice visit with older sisters.
Review 43:Owners and staff were very friendly and helpful. Location was great - we could walk to downtown for shopping and restaurants. The Lodge amenities were great - complimentary breakfast area was very large with a variety of selections and you can sit outside on the deck overlooking the stream. The rooms were spacious with a door directly to the outside with a covered porch/ walkway. We did not have time, but the indoor pool and hot tub were large and inviting. Another nice touch - on departure, they take a complimentary picture of your group sitting on the massive rocking chair out front and include a frame! Very quaint and homey atmosphere! High recommendations!
Review 44:No deck on the handicapped unit. We didn't need the handicap room, but it was the only room available. From the photos on the website, I was looking forward to having our own patio available.
Review 45:Great location, friendly and helpful staff, nice facility.
Review 46:The wonderful location overlooking the Fall River, the staff especially Pam Who served breakfast which was basic but plenty of it and all delicious The River walk into town-10 mins at most recommend 2nd floor for views .
Review 47:Chris at the front desk was wonderful! We came in early and he did everything he could to check us in early! We had the deluxe king room that had amazing views!
Review 48:Older bathroom.
Review 49:Great staff and an ideal location for Ricky Mountain National Park and Estes Park. We walked to shopping and dining. In the charming town. Comfortable, quiet location.
Review 50:I thought all rooms were on the river with a back porch and sad to find ours had no back porch and just an ugly wall of neighboring business to see out the window. Will request a river side room next time.
Review 51:Favorite part was the friendly and helpful lady managing breakfast. She gave us great advice on hikes at Rocky Mnt. National Park. Really enjoyed the nice variety at the continental breakfast and trilled to have honey for my morning tea ! The attention to detail in the room service was delightful, even the TP and facial tissue was origami style folded in fans and flowers.
Review 52:The bathroom was a bit small but worked fine for my daughter and I. But I'm not sure if it was just our room or all the rooms are situated that way.
Review 53:Location was perfect! We were able to walk uptown for shopping and eating but yet we' were away from the hubbub. We loved hearing the river as we slept and sitting out on our balcony for coffee and boiled eggs watching the river rush bye. The staff was so friendly and gave us great tips on where to eat. They had such a sweet parting gift for us, a photograph of us on their big rocking chair and even gave us a picture frame to put it in!
Review 54:I liked the hotel, the only small problem I found was that the walls are pretty thin and we were able to hear our neighbors and their t.v. at night. Wish there were a few more hot breakfast options at continental, happy breakfast was 7am to 10am..
Review 55:I liked the indoor pool and hot tub on the property. It was also really nice that they had dvd players in each room and tons of movies to borrow from the office. Also the staff was great! Really helpful and friendly.
Review 56:No complaints...
Review 57:Super friendly staff, great price, personal touches such as a free surprise photo in their giant rocking chair, printed out and placed in a lovely glass frame! Where else would you get that??? We were very pleased and will return to stay in the Fall.
Review 58:Outdated bathroom. No water pressure and water would go from scalding to ice cold when showering. Sink in bathroom barely drained.
Review 59:Loved the view along river and how close it was to town. We walked there easily.
Review 60:I probably shouldn't have booked a space with a fireplace as I'm sensitive to smell. Left the windows open the next day and my experience was much better.
Review 61:Loved listening to the river
Review 62:Friendly staff, good location. The hotel is fine, I think it's the little things that stand out. Free DVD rental and framed photo in the rocking chair!
Review 63:The only downside was the noise. You can hear every step above you and next to you.
Review 64:Loved how close it was to the stores in Estes. The room were very clean and the gentlemen who checked us in and out was great.
Review 65:We could hear EVERYTHING going on outside our room, in the rooms on both sides of us, and the room above. It was difficult to sleep or relax.
Review 66:The staff was very friendly and the breakfast was great.
Review 67:We were disappointed that the pool and hot tub were closed, but someone called us a few days earlier so it wasn't a surprise.
Review 68:We thought murphys lodge was quite nice. We had adjoining rooms with our friends which was an added bonus. The office had a large number of dvd's which we utilized. Very close to main area of town.
Review 69:questionable hot tub hygiene, charged our card the full price immediately after booking although was only supposed to be first night, quoted two different prices for special class, charged the higher of them, thin walls
Review 70:room was spacious with great amenities like full kitchen and fireplace, room generally very clean, staff friendly
Review 71:Being from Loveland it was always nice getting out to the mountains and go dine out and shop in Estes, but now with how popular the town has gotten with all the tourists it seems the quality has really gone down hill. The restaurants are over priced with only mediocre quality and the hotels aren't much different. Seems like no one cares because every summer tourists drop money regardless. I will start my review with the positives. When we arrived our reservation made for a quick check in. We were well greeted by a young man who gave us all the proper information we needed for our stay. The hotel is just west of the main strip so we just walked over to go shopping, that was wonderful to be so close and not have to deal with all the backed up traffic. Our room was clean and our continental breakfast was pretty good. There was a sweet woman there to help everyone get everything they needed to get their morning going and to restock and clean up as people came through. Now for the negatives. Our room wasn't terrible but it wasn't great either. There was paint chipping throughout the walls, mild to no hot water and the walls were a little thin. We stayed this past Valentine's Day so of course the hotel was busy so you could here all the traffic from everyone coming and going from the hotel. There was a plastic film put over the windows to block the view of the decaying warehouse building right behind the hotel, which also blocked any real sunlight from coming in. It honestly felt like being in a prison and if you wanted to open the windows it really wasn't worth it. Being February in Colorado is pretty chilly and the rooms didn't come with any extra blankets and the ONE that was on the bed was very thin wrapped around with a thin sheet. The carpets were very dated and the brown coloring of them didn't help them look as clean as there probably were.
Review 72:We had an amazing weekend! The room was so cozy! In a perfect location to go downtown! I highly recommend murphys! We will be back and hope our friends will join us!
Review 73:The lodge was very cold. Stayed 4 days and only received one day service in my room. Asked for refill of towels, never received any. Bed was very uncomfortable
Review 74:Breakfast was excellent. Owners were very accommodating.
Review 75:Hated being in the room by the breakfast area made it extremely loud in the morning, clouded negatively the whole experience.
Review 76:Great location, great value.
Review 77:The wifi didn't work on our first day but was fixed the following day.
Review 78:We loved being right on the river and can walk to downtown shops and restaurants. Saw some elk and deer just walking around
Review 79:Very 80"s room. WIFI didn't work, the TV picture was snow and static and a lot of channels didn't come in at all. Stale breakfast items, plastic liquid soap dispensers. Really needs some updating!
Review 80:Loved that we could bring our dogs with us. The bed was very comfortable and it was a quick walk to town.
Review 81:the place I used to stay in had a view but you can't have everything I guess.
Review 82:for very little more than the place I 'used' to stay I could have an indoor pool and fresh foods that aren't packaged in cellophane. I appreciated the paper bowls and plastic eating implements. The instructions for using the DVD were helpful The collection of old DVDs available to watch was nice. Stephanie was great
Review 83:wifi helped us stay connected, great continental breakfast, staff excellent and gave us a free picture and frame in the memorable big rocking chair to capture the trip memory
Review 84:The room that we’d booked was NOTHING like that shown on their website. The windows, when opened, looked out at the trash area for the adjacent property, which explained why the windows had frosted glass. Fortunately, we were able to upgrade (without an excessive added charge) to an acceptableaccommodation.
Review 85:My husband and I really enjoyed our visit. The location was near downtown area of Eates Park. We stayed for a week and have no real complaints about our room. Staff was helpful with directing us on recreational activities close to town and friendly.
Review 86:Could hear tv from another room and was worried they could hear ours so turned volume way lower than usual; The floor creaked when walking as quiet as possible
Review 87:Firepit Cornhole Videos to check out Big room
Review 88:Bathroom was small - could really use modernization.
Review 89:Close to shops; able to walk to main street with multiple restaurants and shops. Room was large, and pool was a very comfortable temperature.
Review 90:Nothing!
Review 91:I loved the location of the Lodge and the room was clean, clean,CLEAN! It was close enough to town that we could have walked down to the activities, too. And only a few miles from RMNP.
Review 92:Tip - Call ahead to ensure heat is turned on in room. Heat is water baseboard. If you get there at night and the heat is not turned on, it will take about 2 hours to warm up.
Review 93:Location - 10 minutes to RMNP entrance, 1 Minute to Downtown Size of rooms Very Clean Simple breakfast in morning Staff super friendly
Review 94:Wish it was entirely smoke free with NO ashtrays outside of rooms. However when we asked the front desk to speak with the smoker they did and we didn't have anymore problems.
Review 95:Walking distance to town and the free bus. Enjoyed our stay but it is a little pricey. Would stay here again.
Review 96:no fan in bathroom AC questionable shower changed temperatures stairs for brkfst parking tight
Review 97:brkfast room nice got to check in early for wedding
Review 98:Room had a musty odor & we had to buy a candle. Thin walls made it hard to sleep in. Decor a bit outdated for price of room.
Review 99:The bed was very comfortable which we appreciated. Location near town was convenient. Glad they allowed pets.
Review 100:The style of the Lodge fit right into Estes Park, Colorado. Very cool that we were able to have a room right on the river. Made you fall to sleep at night listening to that water, just wonderful. Would definitely recommend this lodge to any one staying in Estes Park but make sure you ask for a room "on the river", makes you feel like you are in Colorado......
Review 101:When you shop online for a place to stay sometimes what you get is not what you thought you saw online. That is not the case with Murphy's River Lodge. The room was better than we thought we were getting. Close to downtown Estes Park. Plenty of BBQs. Well built rooms, we had the corner room closest to the road. The location was incredible with the Fall River right outside our door. Free movies to watch was fun. The kitchen facilities were just like home.
Review 102:The A/C was a little small for the room so it did get a little warm in the afternoon when the sun was in the western sky.
Review 103:Very nice homey room. Bed was wonderful. Nice bathrooms and very clean. Was quiet at nice so got plenty of rest
Review 104:Internet service is a little slow but really not a complaint
Review 105:Very friendly staff that went out of their way to make sure we felt at home. We left some items at the hotel and they called to offer to ship them back to us. Room was very clean and it was a good size. Very comfortable. Kept up nice.
Review 106:not a lot to dislike, Perhaps taking suitcases up from 8000.500 feet to 8000.520 feet was the only thing
Review 107:I did like the friendliness and help we were given, The location just near enough but out of town. the fire pit and free use of the barbeque, and the breakfast lady and the photo on the chair, As for two wives They wish, but shareing a room with two of them Very novel, it is good to be there and great to be home
Review 108:Easy walk to downtown and a quick drive to Rocky Mountain National Park. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Loved the big rocking chair and the surprise gift.
Review 109:Price (I already thought it was a little overpriced to begin with, but when adding on taxes, I didn't feel like it was a good deal). The room was cozy and comfy but a bit baffled by the way it was laid out. The bed did not face the TV so when the kids went to sleep and we wanted to watch a movie, we were just staring at the microwave and fridge. They need to switch the sofa and the beds around.
Review 110:Location, staff, room appointment, quiet, serene, great for kids, clean, continental breakfast (although no hot foods), microwave, fridge.
Review 111:Friendly staff, close to town and Rocky Mountain National Park. Our kids ( 8 and 10) thought it was the coolest place ever. Loved being able to check out movies and/or relax by the river after a long day of hiking. Would certainly go back again!
Review 112:All the staff could not have been more helpful. the property was very clean. Wi fi, breakfast fantastic. The best part was the quiet location beside the river, I would recommend a river view room.
Review 113:Thin walls
Review 114:Atmosphere of breakfast and nice hot tub
Review 115:A little stinky, and need new carpet. Firelog not so good
Review 116:Great staff!
Review 117:Breakfast was solid!
Review 118:Very loud with people walking on wood decks and stairs.
Review 119:We loved this location! also loved the hot tub and heated pool!
Review 120:Rooms fantastic, breakfast fantastic, location fantastic in short fantastic.
Review 121:We wanted a winter mountain get-away to relax and chill. Our room was cozy with fireplace and a great view!
