Review 1：The first room we checked I into there was big bugs running around the bathroom; the walls were scraped up with white plaster in patches; the smoke alarm was torn off the wall (wires showing, etc.) When I asked for a new room it looked much better, but the toilet was marked up inside with black spots and although we slept in our clothes on top of the bed spreads I got bitten up by something on my legs and we had to checkout and move on by 5AM.

Review 3：This was an older property that had not been maintained as well as I would have expected. Considering the lack of amenities it was a little overpriced.

Review 4：The staff was pleasant and did all they could to make us comfortable. Though the property is old and needs renovating we had a good time.

Review 5：The entire property was poorly maintained and housekeeping was pretty bad. My stay was in early November and not during peak tourist season, there weren't very many other people staying there, so no reason not to have the place clean. The bathroom facilities did appear to be clean and the towels and bed linens were clean, but I'm not really sure the bedspread had been laundered and certain the carpet been not been vacuumed (sand and glitter in it). There was a layer of dust on light fixtures, surfaces such as table tops didn't appear to have been cleaned. Fortunately, I had a package of sanitizing wipes with me. I seriously considered asking for housekeeping, but checked in near midnight and there seemed to be only a front desk person available who probably would not have been of any help because she wasn't very helpful when I called to ask how to turn on the shower. I also considered asking for another room, but didn't think another one would be any better. At least there weren't any insects. I chose to make reservations here because of availability and price considerations elsewhere. I cannot recommend it.

Review 6：Can't complain about the price, especially for a last minute two-night stay that included a week night and a weekend night (Thursday, Friday). Location was okay.

Review 9：horrid - heat/ac units would not turn off. had to unplug it from the wall. bath wall outlet pulling apart from wall. mini fridge - freezer part so in need of defrosting nothing would fit in there. patched ceilings - poorly done. walls in need of repair and paint. very unfriendly staff! barked at me that check in wasn't til 4pm when your website said 3pm; that is when someone finally answered the phone after ring 30+ times. desk clerk would not get off the phone, personal call, when trying to check out. finally just put room key on counter and left. BIGGEST problem - NO SMOKE DETECTOR in room! very unsafe. could see in another room [curtains open] and that there wasn't one inf there. don't know how may more there were.

Review 12：Had a problem with the air conditioning and the room was changed immediately. The continental breakfast was nice but I wasn't aware that it was furnished. The room was very clean.

Review 13：The pictures were obviously taken by a professional because the room looked nothing like the pictures. There was paint patches all over the walls and lamp shade. Furniture was broken and the bathtub had paint spots all in it. The fixtures in the bath tub were not clean and it looked like there were mold spots in the sink. We will never use this hotel chain again.

Review 15：Where to begin...room was not very clean. Bed very uncomfortable. A couple of pillows were actually lumpy! TV wouldn't work. When I went to front desk a couple of times I was unable to find the clerk. Once, when I went to ask about the TV, a young man showed me how to operate the remote on the TV in the lobby. He treated me like I was an idiot! Well, we only got about 5 channels on the one in our room, and the one we wanted to watch (ABC) didn't have any sound! Door was difficult to open from the inside. Had to fiddle with it to get it to open. Breakfast was a joke! We checked out after only one night and went somewhere else (a large chain hotel) where the price was actually a few dollars less and outstanding. Their rooms were clean. The breakfast was awesome (at Magnuson we had to find a Cracker Barrel for breakfast). Both my husband found bugs in the room that look very similar to tics. Would not recommend this place to my worst enemy!

Review 17：There were not enough clean towels. We had to wait a couple of hours when we wanted fresh ones. Also, the facility had roaches!

Review 20：Came in around midnight. Front desk was great getting us in. Went to the room, got the sleeping kids into the room, went to the bathroom, no towels, rods missing from walls, mold and rust on the walls, looked to be scraped just before we got there. So I pulled out my pen light that has red, and ultra violet. The beds were crawling with little red bugs, found several adult bed bugs and dozens of little ones.

Review 22：Bed lumpy. Pieces of ceiling falling down in bathroom. One of the electrical outlets didn't work. Wi Fi code not provided. Coffee pot rusted. Remote for TV broken. Pillows were Past use. No ice machine. Place in major disrepair. I did not expect frills, but a simple maintained room.

They did show me a smoking room that about knocked me down when I walked in the door. It had no bed linens ot towels. The walls had been painted in certain spots with different colored paint. Every thing in the room was old

Review 26：The floor wasn't vacuumed. There where no pillows and no remote. We had no face rags the first night and we believed to have dirty sheets. We had two dead roaches (one big, one little). Bed mattress had holes and spots in it . Hand towel seems to have had dried blood stains on it which is unattractive even if washed. And mayb a few more bad details but I hit most of them.

Review 42：Our stay was suppose to be $279 with tax for two nights and we got thereand rate was $30 more a night then when we got to our room we weresuppose to have a double deluxe and our room was a king and that was allthey had. We needed a double deluxe bc were traveling with our 3 smallkids and needed two beds and fridge for formula for the baby. The guy atthe desk was clueless about what was going on.

Review 44：When we entered the room after check in we found that the room was notclean at all!! There was urine in the toilet, dirty bags in the fridge,paper in the air conditioner which also had mold and a dirty razor inthe shower. To make matters worse we had to go and buy our own towelsbecause we never got any the whole trip. The clerks were completely rudeas well. I would not recommend this hotel to My worst enemy!!

Review 46：The rooms were full of mold. I pulled out the couch in the first room to see if there were sheets, no sheets but the mattress was full of mold. The air conditioner didn't work in the 1st room, had to argue for an hour to finally be moved at 11 pm. The second room had more mold than the first. The air conditioning made loud sounds all night. There were no towels, had to continuously ask for them. The request for maid service during your stay is a joke. The so called breakfast was nasty. The wifi didn't work. The pool was cloudy. The overall stay was disgusting. To top it off, I requested and paid for a roll away bed, never received it. I told the front desk the night we checked in that I didn't have it and to make sure it wasn't on my bill. Want to guess what they tried to charge me for when we checked out?!?!? Again, more arguing! This place is a complete joke!

Review 48：No remote for the TV, No Iron, as advertised, coffee packs but no coffee pot, the sheet on the king size bed was not wide enough, it was for a regular size bed, no blanket for the bed, second night we requested a blanket and a top sheet that was for a King size bed, it was a little wider , I believe it was for a Queen size bed. The bottom hinge was broken on the bathroom door , so it would not close. The bed had no padding at all, it was so uncomfortable.

Review 50：The room was filthy and lights were burnt out. AC was broken and spraying water everywhere. The staff was notified and maintenance was suppose to fix it, but they never showed up. There were no rooms available to switch. I filled out a written complaint and tried to speak with a manager who was never there. I called and left messages several days after our stay to speak with a manager who never returned my calls. The hand rails on the 2nd floor were very loose and I was afraid for my children to lean on them.

They didn't have any.safe was broken.Trash cans running over which caused flies in our room.we didn't have enough towels.we would go ask the front desk.They would be either in the washer or dryer. My big treat for the day is when my air condition quit and @ 3:15 am ,had to go to the main desk to ask for another room ;( my 1000 mile trip home was not pleasant !

Review 58：First of all, it had a different name than I booked, so it caused confusion! Got there at 2:45, my room wasn't ready till 5! The TV kept cutting in and out, the wifi sucked, the ice machine didn't work, never got maid service the entire time!

Review 70：Upon arrival, there was no reservation for us. Even as I showed my Booking.com confirmation number and email, nothing. They stated they had been having many issues with people having reservations with Booking.com, but being lost.However,Sabrina and Susan did find us a room, though not what we booked. We booked 2 doubles, and ended up with a king and a roll away. The room was not clean, so we had to wait on that to be done. We were given a room with kitchen, the fridge was gross. Bed smelled very weird, we sprayed air freshener several times. Free WiFi only worked late at night, early morning. Overall, will not stay here in the future.

Review 76：Killed a cockroach the size of my hand in the room. Our "king" bead was two twin beds put together. The staff was extremely rude. You couldn't ask a question without being talked down to with an attitude.

Then I had to make a third trip down and ask for soap , shampoo and tissues. The second night my wife found a Tick in her hair while she was lying on the bed. Then our friends who were staying downstairs, stepped out with fleas on them. And room had smell of dog Urine??

Directions on booking incorrect. Name on building was incorrect. Room smelled of incenses. Ice makers were not working. Would have preferred my money back.

Review 85：I had a very bad experience.First of all I had reserved a room with a whirlpool tub.but when I checked into the room it was a regular tub. I called front desk and was told that they only have 2 rooms with whirlpool tubs and they we're taken.The shower didn't work at all and the towels were sour.

Review 89：The lady had the door locked when I went to check in... so I had to stand there and knock just to get let in to check in. The room was dirty looking and only one little lamp worked. The worst part is the dust mites being so thick I could actually feel them all over the bed biting me. It had an awful smell too. I wouldn't even shower in the shower it looked so old and gross. Never.ever.again. the breakfast was completely gone an hour before it closed and no one refilled anything. And two of the juices were out of order and the pancakes tasted expired.

Review 91：They need to change the sign. You don't change the name of a hotel before you have a new sign to put up. That business 101. There is a lot of damage that needs to be repaired on the property. Painting needs to be done and the appliances need to be maintained. Our refrigerator worked, however it hummed so loud that it kept me awake at night. This hotel just needs to have a good once over and updated and it will be a great place.

Review 92：It was clean and the staff was very friendly and accommodating. The location is also great. The pool was very clean, but it does need to be resurfaced. It was a great value. We were only there to sleep at night and that worked great for us.

Review 93：The walls where nasty, there was no smoke detector, the room was dirty when we go in, went to the front desk an told them we left for the evening an returned an it was still dirty ! No blow dryer I asked for one an all of there where broken. The lady at the front desk said she had one in her car I could use she was sorry ! Only one iron in the whole hotel !!

Review 94：The door keys wouldn't work so after the caretaker came with his daughter who went through all our bags(she was 3-4) he couldn't fix it. So we had to move rooms while he held our old room door open for the world to see our belongings ad they walked by. The towels are rationed like food in the desert around there and they barely cover your face.

My recommendation: Spend the extra $100-200 for a different hotel. Then you won't have to worry about contracting a venereal disease from your bed or your room getting lifted by some rambling vagrant while the questionable housekeeping decides if they're going to ACTUALLY service your room today.Harsh? Decide for yourself:1. You see online "Magnusson Inn and Suites". You book: "Magnusson Inn and Suites". When you're navigating to the hotel (hopefully you have GPS or a smartphone that navigates) don't expect any signs. This place still has its old "Travelodge Inn" sign out front. There is absolutely no indication you're in the right place.2. We checked in late after a long drive and some delays finding our reservation and walked to our room - noting the unhappy looking family of four sitting out in the breezeway with the door to their room and windows open. Apparently they had booked a non-smoking room but instead got one saturated with smoke.3. I'll spare the diatribe and say simply: our bed had body fluid stains on the sheets. And not just stain as in marks but actual dried, crusted semen!!! There was also a rolled up wad of sheets on the couch with more crusted body fluids and hair caked in it.

Review 109：First of all it had a different title name and myself and another were both lost as far as finding the hotel, we eventually determined that what we were lookin at. Then as I waited to get checked in, an irate lady stormed into the office saying she was just sent to the 3rd room they had sent her to because hers still wasnt ready after 4 hrs of being made to leave and come back and the last room people were still in it ! they were trying to find her another room.. my room wasnt ready either. I paid for a King Suite, got a double full size bed room, no microwave, electrical shorts, horrific beds, filthy carpet. Breakfast: stale bread, no milk, no coffee creamer, no sugar, and dry cereal.I asked for a discount or my money back, and the mgr said she couldn't permit that but her last day was that week, she'd resigned after a few weeks due to the issues there. Two employees were cursing each other using the F word, and another had her boyfriend? there to pick her up and they were loudly fighting while washing dishes just outside the office counter mere feet away. The hotel was run down, rusty, moldy, had an odor, no phone, no ice machine found. Foreigners walking around the parking lot looking at the vehicles, I thought mine would be broken into but thank goodness it wasn't. A room beneath me had an unkempt man standing outside his door in nothing but his boxers smoking just staring at me as if he had no shame. I've never had such a disgusting and aggravating experience in all my adult life with a hotel like I experienced last weekend. I'll never return to Gulf Shores again. Never !

Review 111：The ac worked when it wanted. The tv had a loosecable that you had to hold to keep it on. The bed were not clean, and the "clean" towels we asked for smelled like maple syrup and if you actually looked at them you could see they were covered in it.

Review 114：The daytime clerk was very friendly & accomadating. The location was good. But those were the best features.

Review 115：Everything. It was dirty very dirty. No sheets or towels in room. It smelled mattress was ripped stained Gave me the creeps. We would have left if the drive wasn't so long. Please do not keep this room on your sight. I would hate to think this is what you represent.

Review 116：Room had no phone,microwave,fridge, coffee maker and a broken safe!!!Mildew smell in room, everything brought back home smelled of mold. Weboth got respiratory infections days later... Upon check in staff membermade "racist" remark about previous guests.&Quot;Bathroom" light would go on and off. Door would sometimes notlock on first go. Ice machine is broken. 6 different things of sugar notype of creamer for coffee besides milk. Pretty sure the waffle batterhad never been changed. Plan on eating elsewhere for breakfast. Was notworth what I paid.

Review 117：The bathroom was "clean". Staff was tolerable.Location was good. Bed was nice, brought sheets from home to put on them. Someone down the hall had a really cute kitten.

Review 118：Our room was horrible, the carpet was not attached to the floor and was very stained. The paint was chipped on the walls, the doors were dirty and stained, the comforter was stained, and the outlets were loose. We will NEVER stay with this company again and the only reason we stayed this time was because the staff was so friendly and helpful.

Review 120：They had me booked for four rooms when I got there after booking only one room online a month early. The sign still says Travelodge so we had trouble finding it. We booked for two nights but after the first day our room was given away while our stuff was still inside the room.

Review 122：I booked this hotel in Feb with traveling dates in May somehow my reservation for the 2nd room was lost. Therefore I was on the phone 2 days trying to get a second room. It was not what we originally booked but I settled for the rooms. Once in the rooms my daughter pulled the covers back on the beds and there was dog and human hair all over the sheets and pillow cases the linen had not been changed out. Look at my bathtub, hair was in the tub, you could tell it had not been cleaned. Hair was all over the floors in the rooms. We had what was supposed to be the housekeeper (she walked around in what looked like sleeping clothes and no shoes) bring clean linens and make the beds, my daughter and son vacuumed the floors and all she did with the tub was wipe the hair out. The hotel is very old and I can deal with old but not nasty. It was awful! After all of that on 1st night I went to the office because of all of the noise throughout the hotel. We were on the 1st, apparently those were the non smoking rooms. I thought the people upstairs was going to fall through the ceiling. I told the office I would not be staying my 2nd night. I didn't get to sleep until 2 am and we check out at 7am. We were credited for the 2nd night but fully charged for the 1st night. I told them I would never stay there again! It was awful!

Review 124：Air conditioning broke, mold in bathroom, bathroom fan broken and light would not turn off (switch missing and just hole in wall), carpet had iron burns, breakfast is minimal. Just felt uncomfortable here.

Review 126：The room we paid for had soaking wet carpet and the foulest mildew odor. The tub had two holes in it and no new amenities, all were open already. We had to move to another room during the stay due to the room being unbearable.

Review 127：I reserved two rooms on booking.com and when I got there they only hadone room for me and they were all booked up. The room was ratty and hada nasty sort of funk smell to it. The beds were scary to sleep in.

Review 129：There were spring breakers everywhere- all underage, there was emesis in the parking lot, which I stepped in, the room smelled like mildew, the paint on the ceiling was peeling, the overall feeling was one of despair. This place looked like no one had done any maintenance since 1987

Review 132：Honestly just spend the extra money for a nicer hotel. Our room had no towels, it had a bad smell, there were nails sticking out of the floor. It was definitely understaff. Everyone who came through had to wait to get seen and phone was going off with no one to answer. Good vacation but hotel was horrible. Bookit.com should take this place off their listings.
