Reviews for Americana Hotel

Review 1:I didn't really check out the breakfast they offered, but my friend did and he said they only had "cold stuff" like muffins, cereal, bagels, doughnuts, etc. I personally prefer a hot breakfast, but I think a muffin or a doughnut is fine to just grab n' go.

Review 2:I thought the staff was incredibly nice and the hotel was clean. It's an older hotel, but definitely not dirty or creepy like some places can be. I absolutely LOVED the retro vibe of the room. The bathroom had this sort of marigold colored tile with brown mosaic pieces embedded into the floor. The soap dish was a clay color. It made me smile. Though the rooms are retro, there was still a refrigerator, flat screen TV, comfortable bed and pillows. I would definitely go back again!

Review 3:The breakfast was too long on sugar and carbs and too short on protein.

Review 4:The location near the Metro in a safe area and the inclusion of parking, wifi, and breakfast made it excellent for a trip to DC. The shuttle to the airport is also a plus for some.

Review 5:The internet was very slow and I wish they had some sort of water purifier in the room. I did drink the tapwater, but it isn't very appetizing to do so.

Review 6:The bed was comfortable, the staff was friendly and it was what I expected for the price that I paid. The free shuttle pick-up and drop-off was prompt and I didn't have to wait for any other guests though that might just have been a result of having only a few guests at that time.

Review 7:Convenience in location to Arlington National Cemetery; Parking especially convenient, Clean Rooms were very important, Wi-Fi availability, Front Desk personnel were very helpful and accommodating; and Shuttle service wonderful drivers --we couldn't have asked for more at a very reasonable price for three days.

Review 8:Bathroom was outdated, and the room would get terribly cold in the evenings. This is not a problem when in bed, but it was hard to do any work in the evenings as it was just too cold.

Review 9:As I was attending a conference nearby in a much more expensive hotel, this hotel was at the right location for me at a much better rate. Good service, breakfast, and nice and comfy beds.

Review 10:The staff was friendly, they were willing to get packages for me. The breakfast was fine (cereal, bagels and muffins). It is really close to the crystal city.

Review 11:Perhaps the breakfast which were just donuts and muffins but that might be the case elsewhere as well.

Review 12:Location and the price. Very close to 2 metro stations and just a few stops from downtown. Also flying from DCA it is very convenient with its own shuttle service.

Review 13:I didn't have a negative experience. There is an old sign on the property that says Americana Motel. That should be updated to get rid of the motel image.

Review 14:Continental breakfast was nice. The location was excellent. Shuttle service was a plus.

Review 15:The public areas appeared to be much older than the rooms themselves. Breakfast wasn't that great.

Review 16:The location was great and the bed was really comfortable.

Review 17:The facility is old and beat down. Did even want to step on the carpet without shoes on. This olace needs to be torn down. It is too old and the age is just obvious.

Review 18:They had ample parking space and it was free. The stuff were ok.

Review 19:Many negative things to mention about this place: Rooms are dirty, beds are infested with bugs!!! Yes really! Also, internet signal is weak and WiFi speed is very slow. Breakfast is so cheap, and the location is very far from any nearby store or restaurant. I stayed there for one night then switched to other hotel for the rest of my visit. Actually it is not a hotel; it is a motel and does not deserve more than 50$ per night. Short answer: DO NOT GO THERE, FIND SOMEWHERE ELSE.

Review 20:free shuttle from airport

Review 21:Not really a bad thing but it wasn't modern in style but overall I liked the style of the room.

Review 22:Wonderful stay- very clean and great last minute booking. Wish I had known about this place before I had booked at the Travelodge. I would have stayed here instead.

Review 23:Facilities are a bit bare bones, paint pealing and rust on the outside of the building, but the rooms were in top notch condition.

Review 24:Clean rooms, friendly staff, great location.

Review 25:The hotel is one step up from a motel. The room was okay, yet the bathroom and hotel hallways, elevator, furnishings were very run down.

Review 26:Shuttle drivers were very helpful.

Review 27:Beds are a little soft. But they were nice enough to give us a different room with a better bed.

Review 28:Great staff. Even though it's an older motel it is very clean. Just a small sink in the bathroom but there is a nice counter with light strip outside the bathroom. Breakfast is adequate. No eggs or meat. I had oatmeal and bagel. You won't find a better price in the area and parking is free! Easy walk to the Met.

Review 29:The wifi didn't work most of the time

Review 30:We, two 18 years old girls, stayed for two nights there. The shuttle from the airport was great! Every 30 minutes they bring you to the metro station which is 6 minutes to walk away, so we just used it ones. The personal was really friendly, also as we looked ourselves out for the second time. For breakfast we got bagel, Dount, cereals, banana, apple. Coffee was 24/7 available. Nothing spectacular, but totally ok for the price. I think this hotel is perfect for people who wants to stay in DC to travel. I would stay there a second time!

Review 31:The hotel looks little dowdy from the outside but inside is fine.

Review 32:Washington is a pretty spectacular city but downtown is very expensive. This hotel was a five minute walk to trains and then easy access to Pentagon, Arlington Cemetery and then Downtown. King Street restaurant strip is also a short train ride. Staff were very helpful in telling me local information.

Review 33:Nothing really, we loved it. A lot of people comment on the outside of the building looking old. It's fine on the outside, it's amazing inside. I wouldn't worry about those comments. It's unique and it would be cool if it stayed that way.

Review 34:The room was lovely, very modern, the beds were so comfortable! The staff were friendly and helpful. The included breakfast is great, really nice and lots of options, we really enjoyed this and much easier than having to find a cafe or starbucks each morning. It's only 5 mins walk from the metro station and lots of nice places to eat, and it's a really safe and clean area.

Review 35:I could see your sign from the Jefferson Davis Highway but it took we almost an hour to get into the property thanks to a Police Officer who had me follow him. Why do you advertise 1400 JD Hwy when there is no entrance.

Review 36:The staff was very friendly & helpful/

Review 37:The whole appearance of the hotel is so dated and depressing. Need some upgrades, especially the bathroom. Some staff are friendly, but some seem a little tough. Breakfast is horrible.

Review 38:The room is clean and spacious.

Review 39:No counter in bathroom, very loud exhaust fan. Bad tv reception on first floor. Fourth floor tv was fine.

Review 40:Quiet, comfortible bed and bed linnens, clean, newer carpet, refrigerator.

Review 41:The facilities are a bit dated and consumed. It is not possible to open a window, and to get fresh air you must constantly run a noisy AC unit. Some of the furniture was old, chipped and beginning to fall apart. Still, for the price and location, I expected there to be a downside and these detractors did not bother me for the purposes of my trip.

Review 42:The staff were very friendly and accommodating of all travelers. The location was ideal: a very quick walk to the metro. They also offered shuttle services to the airport. Some airline pilots used the hotel. The facilities were clean and the price was much less than most of the area hotels. The free parking was wonderful. At most area hotels you can spend up to $50/day for parking, so having free parking was an extra perk!

Review 43:wish the sliding doors wouldve opened but as this is an older building, the balconies arent exactly safe looking so it made sense they no longer allowed people on them. not a big deal though. great hotel !!! will definitely return!

Review 44:i sent a request asking if they had early check in because our plane came in at 9am!! we arrived at the hotel and had no idea they would have the room ready for us THAT EARLY and at no charge. front desk is awesome and beyond helpful/cheerful. i also asked for an updated room(just in case) and got room 403, top floor, could see the washington monument from the room :) and our room looked EXACTLY like the picture. was VERY happy the 2 days spent here!!

Review 45:Beds extra comfy. Staff overly helpful and friendly. Shuttle goes anywhere nearby. Thanks to Esta YiPing, Celeste, Juan, Maria, Julio, Chris and Oscar - you made our stay perfect!

Review 46:Hotel needs refurbishing- worn carpets, etc. Still location offset any minuses.

Review 47:Excellent location to DCA. Free shuttle to pick you up and drop you off. Very helpful receptionist. Even had a breakfast ready although we left at 5:30 AM. Comfortable chairs and spacious room. Reasonable rates.

Review 48:Internet connectivity was awful. Have not had such bad internet at a hotel in 10 years. Thought it was mostly my room but was bad in the lobby too.

Review 49:Helpful staff, good value. Clean rooms that provide the basics. Breakfast was basic but decent quality.

Review 50:It was a bit hard to find. My balcony door wouldn't open. The bathroom fan was loud and it came on every time the light was turned on.

Review 51:I loved the quietness and old-fashionedness of this hotel. The staff couldn't have been kinder, friendlier, and more helpful. It was clean, comfortable, and homey. I truly adored this place.

Review 52:Run down facility. Carpeting was substandard and left us with a feeling that there may have been an issue with uncleanliness and possible bedbug issue.

Review 53:Staff was great. Beds were comfortable.

Review 54:The outside of the building is very run down. Just by the look of the outside of the building I almost left. The toilet didn't flush.

Review 55:Room comfortable.

Review 56:The facilities need to be updated. I didn't like that it was an "upgraded" motel, with exterior glass doors that were disabled in all the rooms. Most of the employees spoke English as a second language. There was not a manager on duty in the mornings, and I could not get a billing issue settled before I left.

Review 57:It was close walking distance to the DC Metro Rail.

Review 58:Antiquated facilities. Very noisy extractor fan in bathroom.Low level electrical hum disturbed sleep. Plastic plates and crockery.

Review 59:Easy access to DC via metro. Some of the staff were very helpful

Review 60:The only thing is that it's not really close to any good restaurants, but that's because it's more of a business neighborhood and the outside looks pretty bland.

Review 61:Super clean and retro. Friendly staff. Big windows /sliding doors. Safe neighborhood.

Review 62:Only thing was the breakfast eating area was too small with not enough tables- but actually for the price, this is rather trivial

Review 63:staff were very helpful and welcoming. Room was comfortable and much nicer than anticipated. Location nearby metro station made access to centre of town easy.

Review 64:1st day had problem with main elevator, not in use but no sign, was asked to go to another elevator only find out it wouldn't bring back to main floor

Review 65:shuttle drivers were vary friendly and gave us good information about restaurants in the local area

Review 66:The exterior needs a little paint.

Review 67:The place was located perfectly near Dc, Arlington Cemetery and crystal city. This hotel offers transportation, we were dropped near shopping and great restaurants and picked up after we were done.

Review 68:The hotel needs updates. Room looked just okey, forniture are old, elevator very slow. They charge the same that modern Embasy Suits next to it and i think they overcharge.

Review 69:Staff very helpful and friendly. All people working there make me feel welcome and give me all asistance I needed. The breckfast was good and had a lot of good think.

Review 70:The pillows

Review 71:It was close to the Metro, it was clean and the staff was very friendly and accommodating. Best "bang" for your buck. Will definitely stay there again.

Review 72:The breakfast can be made little better

Review 73:Nice and clean property..Attendents are really very helpful. If any one is looking for a value proposition in DC highly recommended, very close to subway

Review 74:Exceptional service standards: free shuttle service around the area was provided, our queries were answered by the extremely patient, helpful and warm staff, and our requests were dealt with promptly. Room was very nice, clean, comfy and spacious.

Review 75:Wifi didn't work in the room. Worked well in the lobby. Free breakfast.

Review 76:Location was great. Free shuttle to/from airport was good. Clean place, made it possible to ignore the "motel" like feel.

Review 77:I had to travel to the Crystal City area for a conference, so the Americana was perfect in terms of location. The property wasn't overly fancy, but it had a nice vintage charm, was impeccably clean, and the staff was friendly and helpful. Plus, the hotel cost about 40% less than the conference hotel and included free breakfast, wifi, and parking. Talk about a bargain!

Review 78:We booked the tour Washington DC At Night. The driver dropped the group at one location and then called to meet him at a distant other place. I have asked for my money back.

Review 79:Personal, van driver and location of METRO station.

Review 80:The self service breakfast was adequate but disposable plates, cups and cutlery are horrible.

Review 81:The large rooms are very comfortable with plenty of storage, although dated ( it is of it's time) I loved the 60's look and feel of the bathrooms. The beds are comfortable and the room has a large flat screen TV and a fridge, but no tea or coffee making facilities.

Review 82:Airport shuttle was unavailable from National because number was unavailable, very old building, check-in was rude, had to tell at what time I would arrive, breakfast assorti was limited (no tea), very very budget!!

Review 83:Bed was okay.

Review 84:You cant sleep if the air conditionate is on. Very noisy machine, hopefully it wasnt hot Horrible wifi, dont count on it Poor breakfast

Review 85:Room size Clean Near subway station

Review 86:Night time receptionist was brash and seemed more interested in her personal call than in helping. the Asian lady that checked us in was fabulous and so helpful

Review 87:The shuttle. Asian receptionist.

Review 88:Very old and run down hotel. Elevator, air conditioner and bathroom fan/light (room 318), are very old and noisy. room next door (316) came out to the balcony to smoke and made a lot of noise. Could not sleep until they went to sleep.

Review 89:location. very close to Reagan airport

Review 90:Noisy air conditioner, hallways were hot from air conditioner exhausts

Review 91:The staff were. Very helpful. The shuttle service was excellent. Room was newly updated with a clean'retro' bathroom. Location is the best!

Review 92:Rooms are super quiet. Dated hotel but rooms are roomy. Bathrooms are 1960 but hot water grwat water pressure. Plan on staying again next time in town.

Review 93:The hotel is VERY dated. It did not have a very clean and comfortable feel to it at all. The hallways were smelly, the elevators sketchy, and the WIFI sloooow. In the evening when many people were on the internet it was extremely slow. I literally could not sent text via wifi.

Review 94:unfortunately nothing

Review 95:The staff was extremely nice and helpful. All you had to do was call and they came to get you from the metro. The checkin process was quick and front desk agents were great!

Review 96:Nothing

Review 97:The hotel is in a very good location, very near to crystal city metro station from where you can go to all the major attractions in Washington DC in around 20-25min. It's a very nice and clean hotel with good breakfast including doughnuts, bagels, butter, jam, cerael etc. Staff was very good and friendly

Review 98:Corridor outside the room is crazy, aircon exits are there and it's really hot and smelly! Inside the room is not a problem. Frontdesk guy made us wait like 15 mins speaking at the phone with a client booking a room. No big problems, I liked it overall.

Review 99:Nice WiFi, breakfast included (enough good to eat something and start the day), free shuttle to the airport. Room was good.

Review 100:WiFi although free was terrible. Maybe had 60 minutes of total connection time over 6 days. That was supposed to be one of the selling points of the property. Breakfast was as advertised - donuts and cereal but basically mediocre. Constantly ran out of real fruit. Bathrooms need updating and the air conditioning filters smelled musty and must have been very dirty constantly had sinus issues in the evening. Several rooms had their air conditioning venting into the hallway so the hallway was extremely hot as were the painfully slow elevator rides.

Review 101:Location Main room area was adequate and sized well but could be a bit smaller to provide more room for a bigger bathroom Parking was adequate and free

Review 102:I was limping from a recent fall. The hotel is not really very handicapped accessible but the staff went out of their way to make sure I always had assistance. Location and price are amazing!

Review 103:We book it because I am quite familiar with the crystal city neighborhood, but I won't recommend it to other travelers. It is not in city center, nor close to the subway. There is no enough room for breakfast. The staff is not quite helpful.

Review 104:It is very comfortable.

Review 105:The breakfast had few nutricious choices

Review 106:For the price, this place is fabulous...location, comfort and staff. Parking (no additional cost) and close to airport. It is a gem sitting next to much larger hotels that cost twice the cost...

Review 107:Original bathroom and not the greatest water pressure, but still clean

Review 108:Older building, but rooms were completely updated minus the bathroom. New bed and furniture, free wifi and parking, clean

Review 109:Loved the overall retro feel of the hotel. Could tell it's a few years older, but really well kept & the rooms have been reno'd so that's lovely. TV didn't work but hooked into free wifi & streamed on my tablet no problem.

Review 110:Breakfast was included which was great. I would recommend a wider selection of fresh fruit, toast etc as personally Bagels and donuts for breakfast aren't that healthy. Staff are very helpful. Location is a few stops from the main city centre. Metro is very easy to use and good to get around. Alot easier than NYC. It would be more of a Motel than Hotel, but value for money.

Review 111:Slight urine smell in hallways. No safe in room, but didn't really need one.

Review 112:5 minutes from airport. Friendly desk staff. Plenty of on-site parking. Coffee and pastries available at 6:00 a.m. Free shuttle to airport starting at 6:30 a.m. Very quick transportation and made our flight in plenty of time.

Review 113:The facility is owned or managed by foreign speaking people and I had a little trouble understanding them when they spoke. My room was on the 4th floor and the morning after my one night stay, the elevator near my room was out of service and I had to walk down 4 flights of stairs or use the elevator at the far end of the hall. But my biggest concern was the fact that the balcony door in my room would not open. When I inquired about it at the front desk I was told that the balcony doors are sealed shut and cannot be opened! In case of a fire, if the hallway was engulfed, there would be no way out! Also, the hallways in the hotel are not air conditioned, and I would assume, also not heated in winter. It must have been 110 degrees in my hallway. And there was only one ice machine that I could find and that was in the lobby. It was a bit hard to find in the area because it's much smaller than most of the surrounding buildings and set back from the street and there is no pool.

Review 114:The location is excellent, only 6 minutes from The Birchmere Music Hall where I attended a concert. It's also surrounded by a lot of other hotels and condos and within walking distance of many restaurants. And the price was reasonable, especially for that area. Continental breakfast is set up in the lobby.

Review 115:The pictures posted here do not reflect the actual state of the hotel: run-down structure, old-fashioned furniture, dark and noisy rooms. In our room the windows could not be opened, and there was no access to the balcony (probably because it isn't safe); the windows were smeared with some "substance", so you couldn't look out, and no light comes in. The air-condition was so loud, we couldn't sleep at night. From some rooms, the used, warm air is led into the hallways ...

Review 116:Proximity to metro station, regular breakfast included

Review 117:Wi-Fi didn't seem to work, but I didn't try too hard - too tired from all the siteseeing...

Review 118:Esther at the front desk was delightful! A true people-person. Other staff was courteous and professional. This hotel is a "gem" in the middle of other high rise hotels. Clean room with a comfortable bed, spotless bathroom and great water pressure in the shower. Awesome continental breakfast (the staff was constantly restocking so you always had a great choice of fruit and bagels and such...). Free car service around the immediate area/RR Airport. This is going to be our go-to hotel when we return.

Review 119:The hotel needs to be remodeled. It looks rundown and old on the outside so when you pull up you think you made a huge mistake with renting a room here. But inside is much nicer.

Review 120:The rooms were very clean and there were not a lot of people here so the rooms were quiet also.

Review 121:I would stay there again. The rooms are good to chill in but there is no pool etc if you didn't want to go out for a whole day. Outside and hallways are dated but fine as staff are so lovely and room is good. There are lounges on each floor which is good for more space too.

Review 122:The staff were amazing, the friendliest we have had and the shuttle driver was fantastic! The rooms are really nice inside and have been renovated. There is a shopping Centre and three storey mall 5 minutes walk away...not to mention closer restaurants and cafés. We used Uber to travel into town and it was around $15 max. We ordered delivery take out one night too when we came back late.

Review 123:Hotel exterior don't look very fancy, elevator is very VERY slow and old, corridors smell bad.

Review 124:Free breakfast, free wi-fi, close to the Crystal City Metro station, close to Pentagon (you can walk if you want)

Review 125:- the breakfast is poor - wifi is free but very unstable and in our room the signal was very weak

Review 126:- the crystal city metro station is very close and there is a shopping mall - free parking, even after check-out the car can be left in the parking lot till midnight

Review 127:The wi fi connection was not great but we didn't visit so we could sit in the room on our devices.

Review 128:The hotel was in a great location and the price was awesome. The staff were friendly and helpful and the shuttle to the metro was helpful. We were able to visit DC without having to drive in the city.

Review 129:No clock in room and breakfast should have been called "continental." No decaf coffee and seating for breakfast limited.

Review 130:We were in Arlington for one overnight and this hotel was priced right. Room was comfortable and very clean. Free parking was a plus.

Review 131:A bit far away from restaurants & shops, however, the hotel provides free shuttle bus services to those places.

Review 132:Good room size; good facilities; helpful staff; quite location; free shuttle bus to restaurants & the Reagan airport, free WiFi.

Review 133:Close to the Metro. Just a 5 minute walk. Even though the hotel is older, the rooms have been updated and were very comfortable. Excellent value for the price.

Review 134:Elevator is as slow as they come. Outside looks rough.

Review 135:Inside decorations are dated, but clean and nice. Parking is free! Easy walking to metro stop and pentagon row.

Review 136:Exterior and parking lot extremely outdated, even scary.

Review 137:Very nice remodel of a very old outdated exterior. Location is great for business and was pleasantly surprised by nice inside.

Review 138:I haven't had an bad experience but the breakfast was pretty disappointed. It was load of sugar and bread items like dounts, muffins, danish, and bagels. I thought they would have some instant oatmeal at least.

Review 139:The room were a nice size but the bathroom was very small. The mattress were very comfortable and a nice size. The like the fact you can open the balcony door and walk out.
