Reviews for The Londonears Hostel

Review 1:The girl at The reception was not really welcoming. There is no wifi In The Room. I tried to go to The living Room to get some wifi but when I came In It was like 18 guys drinking and staring at me because I was a girl. Moreover, I took a Room with a bathroom and only ladies, and the bathroom is not a bathroom it's only a shower, you cannot even dress In it. Hopefully there was not a lot of girls In The room but that's not really convenient to dress.

Review 2:The location is really great, very close From The Metro station and Around there is nice pubs and restaurants.

Review 3:The staff attitude was production line- here's another customer! Having a joint made in front of me in the lounge/canteen area!!

Review 4:The location for my use was spot on!

Review 5:Our room was quite high up several flights of stairs and quite a number of corridors, the place is like a maze. The beds are also not the most comfortable and the top bunk felt rickety.

Review 6:Super cheap and easy to get to, ideal as a place to sleep overnight if you're going to a gig or something and all you need is a clean bed.

Review 7:No lift and was a maze to find the room.

Review 8:Good location near Earls Court tube station, bed comfy but basic facilities. Was in 12 mixed room, was good for one night stay, wouldn't stay long term.

Review 9:Not enough bathroom and toilet and most of them are so dirty. Moreover, the light censors for bathroom are located only on the door area which not actually detected human inside.

Review 10:Only Location (quite not far from Subway with the walking distance to sainsbury's)

Review 11:The staff was rude and barely did an effort to help us solve our problems. One of the members of the staff was drunk. Only one shower on the first floor of our building for everyone. We also expected for our room to be in the same building were reception was but it was in a different one. What surprised us most was that there weren't any lockers store our luggage, would have to pay 3 p. more. Wouldn't recommend it to anyone unless you want a really cheap place to stay at.

Review 12:The good thing was the great location. 3 minute walk to the Earls Court tube station. Very nice and calm neighborhood

Review 13:after having paid for-> bad wifi, unclear beforehand if mixed room or not, in the end I was the only girl making the room full of boys and men a mixed room. not very nice

Review 14:rather central and cheap, mostly clean

Review 15:Perhaps, The Londonaer is somewhat different to other hostels in London. The old building has large rooms which are not stacked up with beds to make breathing difficult. I was in a separate building overlooking a park. We had a nice seating area downstairs. It felt almost like in a private home. The location is spectacular with the great museums of London within walking distance. Even just a stroll through the neighbourhood is an adventure. I liked to have a separate entrance and felt comfortable in the area with resident houses left and right. A true stay amidst Londonaers!

Review 16:Staff not friendly, pictures misleading, in the pictures it looks like and ok place and in fact it's quite old and poor, but its a good price for its location and i only go there to sleep and shower, so it was ok for me.

Review 17:Excellent location, it has the basics: hot shower and clean sheets.

Review 18:It's very unsafe. It's pretty expensive for how look the hostelvery unclean, stinky and you are not going to feel safe.

Review 19:Absolutely disgusting! Please do not host in that hostel ispretty unsafe

Review 20:The room we were in really didn't look anything like the picture. It was extremely small, barely enough place to move. There was an awful smell in the room but the window could not be opened at all.

Review 21:The staff were friendly and helpful. The location is also really good, close to shops, cafes and restaurants and also really close to the bus and tube station.

Review 22:It was really close to the tube station which was brilliant. I was seen quickly by the staff and the bed was pretty comfortable. No problems with my stay at all.

Review 23:Stuck with a racist woman in my room. Staff refused to give me another room. Staff refuse to move her. Staff refuse me a refund. I stayed somewhere else and they kept my £11.

Review 24:Nothing!

Review 25:The staff are unfriendly. Typical of Middle-Eastern and East-European people in London. Would it kill them to smile once in a while? Apparently. I won't stay there again. Also hated paying over 30UKP for a top bunk in a 6 person dormitory.

Review 26:Location was good. Close to the underground and central London

Review 27:staff were rude, kitchen with no utensils, room was freezing and no curtains to block out street lights.

Review 28:had an 8 bed dorm to myself for 5 nights, that should speak volumes, no wifi, no breakfast. not a good environment! spend your money elsewhere

Review 29:Toilet didn't look clean, staff seemed verry indifferent. Just one hour of free Wi-Fi (with very poor signal)

Review 30:Room was spacious, bedclothes was clean, I like the location. Very close to Earl's Court tube station which's very well connected with center

Review 31:It was the worst night sleep I've ever had. room was in the basement, with poor ventilation, and the most unimaginable foot and other odours. The toilet/shower room was just in the limit of acceptable. I clearly didn't even give a try t their 3quid breakfast. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!!!!!

Review 32:location was OK

Review 33:Unfortunately, we had a bad experience with one of the workers there: one of us arrived to London about 5 hours before the rest of the group,so he told the recepcionist that he wanted to access to the room in the meantime. The recepcionist told him it was impossible since he didn't pay all the amount of the money (because my friend couldn't afford the price of four guests). Our friend told that guy that was been rude. At the end, the receptionist left our friend out (in the middle of the night). On the other hand, beds are not very comfortable, but hey we are not talking about the Ritz, right?

Review 34:We were looking for a place like this, somewhere to stay for a weekend; affordable and with a centric location.

Review 35:The beds were uncomfortable(spings digging into your back all night),bed sheets stained. Staff were very rude,no sense of hospitality. The hostel facilities were dirty and unappealing.

Review 36:The only possitive thing is the location, even so i wont repeat my stay at the londonears

Review 37:i used another building- not main building where the reception located- a shower room door was little bit broken and toilet was stuffed and smelly. the mattress was too thin and noisy because of spring and consent was broken so i can't charge my phone for two days. the worst was the window was broken so i had a sore throat every morning.

Review 38:it was very near to the tube and other shops like m&s and starbucks. that's all.

Review 39:Everything was fine and an extremely good price. Maybe a sign saying that - I feel really deli - breakfast is offered would help fetching one there. But since EC Rd is right around the Corner breakfast was no Problem at all :-) Even 2 supermarkets near by. Arriving at night from STN-Liverpool St is easy by bus - 344 to Latchmere but then beware N31 change is only each 30 minutes and the stop is one block further right in direction of the 344; so the stop is a bit hidden and a bit far to walk no to miss the connecting bus. EC Place or EC are the best places to get off. Very short walk from there. In all a good 10 points for this lovely hostel.

Review 40:I liked my stay a lot as the bed was really clean, showers always worked, were clean and it was a good price. Staff were plenty (someone has to be there i.o. the beds are so clean with fresh linen) and staff were friendly. Even check-in at 3a.m. was easy and no problem. Rooms are with good doors so relatively secure and storage of valuables is offered at reception proactively. Wifi was free for first hour and worked really reliably. 6-bed, house 1

Review 41:there was no atm in the place. the room was hard to get to. wifi was not free, and it was slow. luggage storage wasnt free, or monitored properly.

Review 42:there was an outlet by the bed.

Review 43:The location of the hostel is really good because the tube station is close. But that is all that's good about it. The hostel is pretty run down, there are 5 floors with steep staircase and no lift, there aren't any shelves in the bathroom where you could put down your stuff, the bathroom itself is not very clean and the beds are horrible and uncomfortable.

Review 44:Staff desperately need a refresher on delivering quality customer service. No working laundry machine, you're better off finding a local laundromat.

Review 45:Close to Earls Court Station. A good starting point if you want to plan day trips around London.

Review 46:The wifi was super unstable, kept disconnecting all the time. Also it costs £3 for 24 hours... Not worth the money but you'll survive if you don't need it for work or anything important. Also the towels cost extra. From my room was a window to a courtyard and it was a bit noisy but silenced around midnight.

Review 47:The location is great, specially if you're arriving from Heathrow. Just take the Piccadilly line and you'll get to Earl's Court which is 5 minute walk from the hostel. Take the same line to reach downtown London. Super handy! Also a supermarket is really close. I stayed only for one night and for me it was worth the money but if you're thinking about staying longer, you might want to check other options too.

Review 48:Paying for internet was not worth it as the internet didn't really work. Also, we had a man in our room who was pretty rude and felt entitled to tell us off to turn off the lights even though it's not even 11pm yet.

Review 49:The place was pretty clean.

Review 50:The rooms aren't anything like the pictures. Staff is very rude, specially LALIA from the front desk, if you can call it that way. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE. The most unpleasant experience I've had while traveling so far.

Review 51:NOTHING AT ALL

Review 52:Could put lockers in the room, or security boxes under bunk beds, had to carry expensive items around with me as I did not feel safe leaving in room.

Review 53:The location was excellent near to the tube station, and plenty of food and drink premises

Review 54:The lack of privacy whilst sleeping, a curtain is an idea.

Review 55:The location was excellent and staff were ok although I had to end my visit early for medical reasons and wasn't offered a refund for 2 missed nights that were reserves although I understand the 48 hour cancellation policy some sympathy would have been nice.

Review 56:A broken window, A bed kept together with a duct tape. Poorly heated room (you may need to bring extra sheets). Unfriendly staff. non free Wifi, non free luggage room. Tiny and very messy luggage room.

Review 57:The location is actually the only good thing for this hostel.

Review 58:Staff are incredibly unhelpful and unfriendly and at times even rude. I was checked into the weong room at first (4 bed room instead of double), when i mentioned this to the receptionist she didnt even apologise. The downstairs communal showers have motion sensor lights and apparently moving around in the shower cabin or even opening the cabin down is not enough to turn them back on so you have to fully step out of your cabin. Not ideal when you're naked and not a very pleasant experience to find yourself naked in a pitch black room (no windows). The hostel charges extra for baggage storage, wifi over 60 minutes and towels.

Review 59:Good location Effective radiators in rooms

Review 60:The staff was really unfriendly and everything you want, you'll have to pay. Even to leave your luggages if you arrives before the check in time.

Review 61:The location is about 2min Walking from the underground on Piccadilly line.

Review 62:The facilities were dirty, staff wasn't exactly nice and our room mates snored all night long. No towles were given but I wouldn't have even wanted to use the shower to be fair

Review 63:The location was great - close to Earl's Court Tube station (Picadilly Line)

Review 64:Arrived at night. The receptionist was the rudest person ever. Gives mea key to a room that was in another building, not even the courtesy toget off his chair and show us where that building was.We get there and there was no lift. We climbed FIVE stairs and reach our room. The room was EMPTY. There was only a spike on a wall where we could only hang 1-2 coats. There rest ... on the floor. Speaking of the floor, this was dirtier than the road outside. Damp, of stains, and crawling with bugs. Cracks on the walls and a curtain pole ready to fall. As for the bed, the previous tenant was a girl on her period. How do I know? Her blood stains were still on the sheets. That was disgusting. Speaking of disgusting, don't you even get me started with the condition of the bathrooms. The bathroom was shared with all tenants on the same floor. Having spent 473 euro for four days that was already a ripoff. The toilet was clogged and as for the shower,.... We stayed only the first two days, we could not bear to stay longer. We asked the other two days to be refunded and they REFUSED. This is a scam. This is horrible. Stay away from them. An Holocaust survivor would be grateful he wouldn't have to endure the conditions of the Londoneers hostel.

Review 65:It gives you a perspective of how living in a concentration camp feelslike. A virtual time capsule to the German 40s.

Review 66:Wifi is not free. £3 per day! The small back yard doesn't have any shade. Sitting outside and smoking is problem in rainy days. Receptionists are so cocky and not helpful! If you buy cheaper accomodation, they probably give you a bed on the basement underground rooms.

Review 67:Location of the hostel is not bad.

Review 68:Only given 1 key card for 2 people - would have to pay for second card Wifi only free for 1st hour No lift up 4 flights of stairs with baggage No secure luggage storage - only small valuables stored behind front desk

Review 69:Cheap room with access to London Clean rooms

Review 70:Small, dark room in the basement, broken mirror, window hardly opens, bathrooms definitely need renovation, as well as rooms.

Review 71:Well - it was just 20 GBP per bed in 4 beds room. So if the price was quite low, better don't expect anything more than bed. Just 3 minutes walk to Earl's Court underground station. Fair, but cheap, no-limit breakfast.

Review 72:The Luggage storage room was almost fully occupied. We were waiting for the administrator at the reception desk.

Review 73:This hostel has a convenient location in the centre of London.

Review 74:being put up 5 flights of stairs. No signage as to where the kitchen, lounge was. A bit like a rabbit warren. kitchen in basement, lounge down long passage.Terrible breakfast. Staff very unconcerned and cut off. Luggage room down a further flight of stairs. Kitchen had no stove..only a microwave and fridge

Review 75:the location was good. for me it was expensive for the quality.

Review 76:My matress was very uncomfortable, the staff was unfriendly. Some people were so loud that it was impossible to sleep at night. one of the worst hostel I have ever been to. this place was depressing

Review 77:the location was awesome : nice area, close to the metro

Review 78:There's NO HOT WATER!!! Never!! NO wifi for free (you have to pay and it's very expansive), the beds are so noise and I almost fall from mine because the bed are so weak!

Review 79:Absolutely NOTHING! I've already travelled a lot and this is the worse hostel that I have ever been!

Review 80:Rude & unhelpful staff, asked as 3£ cash for each bag for storage after the check out, they refused to accept card payment for that and to issue a receipt as they seem to collect the baggage storage money in a 'black' way....., no heat in the rooms, no hot water in showers, filthy dirty showers and toilets, no free internet in the property, they ask for 3£/day and the internet is not working, no proper place to leave baggage safely after check out, no breakfast included.

Review 81:10 min walk from the underground station

Review 82:My bed was broken and when I Reported to reception they were rude and didnt help. They promise to send maintenance to fix but they dident, instead they put someone else in my bed. When I went back to the room to sleep there were someone in my bed. They moved me then into a different room and at last I could go to bed in a bed with no pillow by he way. Every where quite dirty or not working, like sink tap or condoms covering smoke detectors. I will never came back

Review 83:Location is good

Review 84:it was worst experience beds are uncomfortable and no hot water in the bathroom uncleaned bathroom bedsheets and beds were dirty

Review 85:The room we were in was just a double bed. That's all it was. The toilets were BRUTAL. the toilet was dirty, the tap didn't run, just trickled a bit of water, the showers were DIRTY, no hot water. We only stayed one night. But it was not worth even worth it for 1 night. DEFINITLY NOT WORTH YOUR MONEY. (We paid 90£) would be better to spend a bit more somewhere else.

Review 86:The location was really good, surrounded by bars, pubs and shops, not far from a tub station

Review 87:Given a room on the top floor , key card to gain entry and door wouldn't open!!!! After 2 card changes 20 flights of stairs still no joy, reception change us rooms , 1hour later get a room. No sleep all night , loud raised voices , banging doors , hell on earth place.

Review 88:Concerning the other staff members. They need to understand the meaning of service for their work involves just that. Need to have a proper kitchen to prepare meals. Simple things that belong to the comfort and joy of staying in such an establishment should not cost extra to the price already paid for staying. Apart from having a large turnover of people coming and going, it is imperative to bear in mind that not all who come there observe proper hygiene. Instead, it is by right that they give an example what a good all-around hygienic place they are inviting people for all walks of life to stay in. I hope these things would be a top priority for the future benefit of all concern.

Review 89:The location good and accessible to many things. One staff member was always friendly. Who always addressed me in a polite manner with the use of the word "Sir." Not that I looking out for this, but it did when he was on duty made staying there all the more pleasant.

Review 90:Everything. The worst Hostel I ever been. An old bulding, rooms were stinky and dirty. Full of mouse traps all over the hostel. When I mentioned that was a mouse in my room the lady at the reception pretended to be the first time that such thing happened. I have paid £27 p/night with no breakfast and you even have to pay for wi-fi acess, £3 for 24h. I do not recomend this place.

Review 91:Nothing.

Review 92:everything i didnt like the staff wasn't nice. the room so dirty. everything was add on. you should pay for internet, put your luggage, etc

Review 93:nothing

Review 94:Attemped assault on female guest at night caused police visit, arrest and absolutely no sleep. Bed bugs!!! Shower room extremely dirty. Manager indifferent to complaints and denied refund for the traumatizing experience.

Review 95:Beliggenhed - Location

Review 96:the staff was horrible, except Sanaa, always sad face and dont answer to questions and always not ready to help. no lift in the hostel. bathroom always not clean.

Review 97:the location is very close to the center of london

Review 98:This is a very run down, tired looking hostel. The toilets are disgusting and the showers well I never felt clean afterwards. The staff were ok but you had to ask for information. And no WIFI, no kitchen, and no laundry.

Review 99:Unfortunately I had to check out and go back to a reasonable standard of living

Review 100:The choice of derelict London decor, highlights the "what am I doing with my life" emotions evoked during your stay. The combination of halfway house and backpackers hostel ensures a wide variety of eccentric people to meet. Finally you can be assured that your belongings are safe as most of them will have been relinquished moments after check in.

Review 101:Dirty, smelly and uncomfortable place with mold and not working power outlets in a room. Hope to never be there again.

Review 102:Honestly... I didn't like anything about this place but I guess it's located in a decent place.

Review 103:Bathroom and kitchen facilities were substandard, even for a hostel. Noisy, poor ventilation in room. Not a comfortable stay. I changed to the nearby YHA hostel for when I returned to the area, which was a much more pleasant experience.

Review 104:Good location

Review 105:Run-down, dirty, people sitting on the doorstep smoking - not a good look. Nowhere to hang clothes (I was in a single room). Nowhere to hang clothes in the showers.

Review 106:Good to have a washbasin in the single room. Convenient to shops, tube station and buses.

Review 107:The so called kitchen was a rather joke. No cookware, no tableware, no oven, just one microwave and an electric kettle. The bathroom was totally dirty and disgusting. Absolutely unfriendly staff.

Review 108:The room we were originally given was the worst I have ever seen. Thedouble bed was in a very cramped and smelly (stale cigarettes) room, bedonly accessible form one side and the end, springs of mattress feltunder the sheet. Dirty window opening onto dank interior courtyard. Darkbrown patterned wall paper on one wall.

Review 109:Nothing, apart from the fact that lying in bed was not an option so wegot up and into London early! We were transferred to another room whenwe complained about the first one described.

Review 110:This place was horrible. The staff were very unfriendly, we had to ask twice for our sheets to be changed (they hadn't changed them from the previous guests), there was garbage in our room, we didn't feel comfortable leaving our valuables behind the desk (they didn't lock them up and they didn't ask us for proof of ID when we asked for our valuables back), the nearest bathroom was up a flight of stairs, and we heard the front desk person say to the night staff "You have to make sure you don't fall asleep tonight." The guy who would be watching our unlocked valuables! I would expect this kind of a place to be WAY cheaper than it was.

Review 111:The location. Nothing else.

Review 112:You have to pay for anything extra: pay for an extra room key, pay for leaving the luggage in the luggage room, pay for a tower. Reception personal is really rude, not willing to help you at all.

Review 113:Location. Beds are confortable and bathroom is clean (but old).

Review 114:2 bunk beds cramped into a tiny box room - sharing with other guests that clearly lived there due to the 6 or so suitcases and mess all over the floor. Worst customer service ever!staff was rude and insulting. I was so appalled I had to leave and find elsewhere to sleep

Review 115:Worst hostel I have ever been in my life. The stuff is unfriendly, the room are small, the hall is smelly and there's no warm water in showers, and I got flew of it

Review 116:The hotel is close to earls court station

Review 117:No tea or coffee making facilities and no vending machine. The shower drains smelt.

Review 118:Bed sheets were spotless and clean. The location to Hyde park and the tube station was brilliant and the cost of the room per night was great value for money.

Review 119:I think putting up notices in bathrooms asking residents to leave them clean would be beneficial. Most of the cleanliness problems in hostels are due to inconsiderate guests rather than insufficient staff issues

Review 120:Comfortable, clean, grest value for money and satisfactory customer service. Will definitely come again!

Review 121:The staff was VERY rude, the beds were really hard and painful sometimes to sleep on, and they say they have a kitchen but they only have a kettle and a microwave. Overall very bad hostel!

Review 122:I liked the location, earl's court is a very good place with good nightlife.

Review 123:The room was very hot and it wasn't always obvious which beds were free to use or not.

Review 124:Good location right next to Earls Court Tube station, staff very helpful and let me check in a few hours early because I was so jetlagged.

Review 125:I guess I wasn't expecting 'London' prices. The room is literally just a room, with a bunk bed. That's it. No towels, no frills! After travelling around big cities in Europe this place is terrible value for money- but like I said it's probably just London prices.

Review 126:Clean

Review 127:I reserved a female dorm with four beds. When I arrived, they told me that they didn't have any female dorms with four beds, so I ended up in a mixed dorm.

Review 128:The location

Review 129:The room disgusting I booked for 2 nights and moved to another hotel it was a rip off the price was disgusting for w are we had the staff were rude and unhelpful it was just awful I cannot believe. They are allowed to trade The toilet was very bad and showers stank

Review 130:Nothing

Review 131:Other customers using bathrooms nowhere near their own rooms, and making a horrible noise that wakes sleeping people up after midnight.

Review 132:It was very central to west London, helpful staff, good security, my trip ran like clockwork. I would book this hostel again without hesitation.

Review 133:I was on the top floor which meant carring my suitcase up 5 flights of stairs. I paid £54 a night for a single room with a shared bathroom but there was only a toilet on the 5th floor i had to go to another floor to have a shower. I could spent another £15 to stay at a hotel with all the amenities they offer. Also i could feel all the springs in the mattress.

Review 134:The bed was clean, the room was tidy

Review 135:The staff (3 of whom I came into contact with), all seemed annoyed when approached. On the first day I went and requested towels. The staff member initially refused to provide them to me as the computer system was down. After some persistence he finally gave me some (5 pound deposit each). The light in the shared shower didn't work for the first 3 days of our stay. I told two different staff members on the first few days then gave up. The bed was incredibly uncomfortable. No support at all just a sagged wire net. I could feel the springs of the mattress. When checking out at around 7.00am, there was no staff at reception. I searched the building and waited for half an hour but no one came or could be found. Because of this, I was unable to claim back 15 pound in deposits that we were owed. A fitting end to our stay at this awful hotel.

Review 136:Good location and vaguely reasonable price. Room was tiny but clean.

Review 137:My negative opinions refers mostly to the building 19, where there are some other rooms (it's just down the corner) There there is no reception, no bars or anything to have breakfast or just water I was on the ground floor and the room was way to dirty: there were ants everywhere up to the beds and dead bugs on the floor. Toilets were just decent. Regarding the main building, I have to say that the value for money and the room you get are satisfying! Totally go there if you want to stay cheap but with a decent bed and toilets!

Review 138:It was 3 pounds/bag to leave in the hostel on the last day and we could not pay with card, neither for the breakfast. And I could not get recite....

Review 139:The location is perfect, near to the metro line and the neighbour hood was great.

Review 140:The bathroom in the bedroom was too small. One guest told me I cannot take shower after 9pm in the bedroom and turn on the light. When I use the public bathroom outside the bedroom 1201, the main door pf the bathroom cannot be locked. One of the four shower room is transparent glass. All shower room cannot be locked and no hooks and space for your to hanging changing clothes and bath stuffs. Just the main door has hooks. There is not lockers inside the bedroom. Only the corridor has lockers but they are broken so useless in the second room of right wing. No lift, no free wifi.

Review 141:Close to the underground
