Reviews for Hotel le Relais
Review 1:In the bathroom the toilet cistern obviously needed replacing, since it had no lid and only a towel over it. But that had little impact on our stay overall.
Review 2:The hotel is a bit hard to find by road, but it is actually right in the middle of town in a great location. Breakfast was lovely with fresh croissants and bread. The restaurant downstairs is wonderful.
Review 3:The fungus in the bathroom. The very old windows coupled with a poor heating system. The noise from the kitchen and laundry room. No reception, no front desk, nobody to complain to. The idea was to spend a nice romantic weekend in Spa to celebrate our 5th year anniversary. Back than when I was looking for a hotel. I browsed through the reviews and came across a reviewer refering to the hotel as an "overpriced piece of junk". I thought surely he is a very picky person who gives negative reviews all the time, so I ignored he's review, which prooved to be a really big mistake. After arriving and ringing the bell the owner instructed us to find he's wife next doors. He didnt even bother coming down to greet us. Not a good sign but I thought he's just having a bad day. After receiving the keys from the wife. We go up, unlock our door and find a rather small room with a very old and really disgusting bathroom. The ceiling of the bathroom was covered in fungus. I never imagined this could happen somewhere where you pay 100€ a night. We later discovered other very annoying things as well. The heating in the room was so weak that we had to use exrtra covers not to be cold during the night. There was a lot of annoying noise coming from the kitchen and what seemed a laundry room. Until midnight we heard everytrhing what was gong on, in the kitchen of the restaurant underneath. Than from midnight until around 4 in the morning we were forced to listen to what sounded like an industrial washing machine and dthan a dryer. To top all this the last day we discovered that an unopened bar of chocolate disappeared from our room. We really looked everywhere, because we just couldnt believe that somebody would steal that from our room. I truly regret booking this very sad place, it pretty much ruined our anniversary. It makes me think that the positive reviews are all fake...
Review 4:There are construction works near the hotel, however we had a room on the other side, so didn't notice any noise. So, no complaints really.
Review 5:Not a new hotel, however can't not complain..it was clean, fine breakfast, good location near the thermes of spa. Our room was quite small, but the room of my cousin was much bigger, so depends.
Review 6:Comfy bed, nice decor, easy check-in, great value, super clean and tidy. This was a very nice stay in a very nice hotel. Breakfast was good, the en-suit very nice too. If you are looking for a place to stay in Spa then this is highly recommended. The steak restaurant round the corner, Domino on Place Verte, is excellent BTW.
Review 7:You cannot call this a hotel. Looks like a B&B, only worse. Old,Hot, noisy room. Looks more like a student room, although i think that's even beter! The complete building is very old and noisy. You can haar everything. Horrible beds. Very poort breakfast. Will Never go heren again.
Review 8:Located in centre.
Review 9:There were 2 beds instead of one double, and either me or hubby kept falling between them bathroom extremely small, without ventilation
Review 10:Location great! Found even free parking in front of hotel!
Review 11:After a pleasant afternoon at the Thermes, the nylon cover under the sheets completely ruined our night! We left totally tired in the morning and wished we could have stayed at the hotel across the street which however did not accept pets... The utilities are also a bit old but functioning ok.
Review 12:Pet friendliness and great restaurant on the ground floor, very good location.
Review 13:Picture is not Hotel, but that of the Radisson Blu Hotel SPA... false advert. Check Out at 11:00. No reception, talked to an intercom on arrival in a door!!!! Rude in restaurant, appalling service. The maid cleaning the room banged and shouted on door at 11:00 to say it was checkout time and then took the money with a written receipt............... rubbish place....... never will go back.
Review 14:Nothing, certainly not the price.......... Book an IBIS Budget for €50 and get 5 star treatment in comparison to this dump!
Review 15:The bed is really poor quality, Although the hotel is in the heart of the centre, there is a night club just next to it, so you will hear noise all night, the room is so tiny that the toilet is basically in the middle of it, the breakfast is not good quality. If you arrive after 10pm, no one is there to receive you and therefore, you have to request the WIFI password in advance. I don't recommend it for couples, or even young traveler as the cheapest room is 79 euros!
Review 16:Location!
Review 17:only bad thing are the wafer-thin walls and single glassed windows as one can hear everything from the staircase, when a neighbour showers and the music bass from a close by disco
Review 18:Location, comfort and breakfast are top for the price,
Review 19:Shower didn't work. Breakfast was terrible. The room itself had a mouldy smell. Everything in the room was old and run-down. The owners stopped caring about this hotel in the eighties.
Review 20:We loved the location, just across the street from the rack railway to the main attraction in the village (Spa Termal Resort). And check- in and during breakfast staff was kind, patient and helpful. Ideal for one night stay!
Review 21:Small TV, vieuw from window, no clear instructions on how payment must be done when you leave (in Macaronshop nextdoor)
Review 22:Clean room, good instructions for entering (since there is no staff on the spot, but with one push on the doorbutton, we got perfect contact with very friendly responsable), breakfast in nice and cousy place and enough variety of the food, nice restaurant on groundfloor
Review 23:The walls were a bit thin so we could hear neighbours and people going down the hallway. And as there is no real reception, we could not leave our luggage inside for a couple of hours before check-in.
Review 24:Good location, close to the spa facilities, the city center and some good restaurants. The room was plain basic but clean, the breakfast as well basic but ok.
Review 25:No place to stop the car to drop your baggage's. Stairs, if you have kids or locomotion limitation this is not a place to be. Intense traffic.
Review 26:Location, friendly, self standing, restaurant. Surprising not much noise for a quiet busy street.
Review 27:The pictures are misleading. The first one is from the thermes and not from the hotel. Pricy!
Review 28:The room was big ans comfortable.
Review 29:nothing bad
Review 30:splendid location - nice view from breakfast room! Really central, and room was quiet.
Review 31:Facilities could use a facelift.
Review 32:Great location. Friendly staff, just not around too much.
Review 33:The picture shown for this hotel is incorrect. That picture is of a spa hotel at the top of the venicular railway
Review 34:The location
Review 35:location great, evening meal superb, quiet but town centre convenience.
Review 36:Too old a look
Review 37:Location
Review 38:All goo
Review 39:Great location very good value for money.
Review 40:Fantastic interactions with Hotelier (& Chocolatier).
Review 41:It was cheap
Review 42:Very accommodating: they provided a baby cot for our toddler to use.
Review 43:The WiFi could be faster.
Review 44:Location, breakfast, staff, value for money, almost everyhing.
Review 45:Very expensive, no reception
Review 46:while you are sleeping in your room you will hear others easily. breakfast was not compete.
Review 47:No staff on site. Poor cleanliness which was impossible to remedy as no staff, and low quality fitments.
Review 48:Central location.
Review 49:Location, room was good, staff were excellant, breakfast was fantastic, overall a good stay.
Review 50:The double bed kept on slipping away from each other.
Review 51:Kind service and a very good breakfast.
Review 52:a little basic but reflected in pricing
Review 53:good value great centre location
Review 54:The hotel is very run down and not well maintained. The hallways had too much incense and there were extensive stains in the hallways. The walls are paper thin and very noisy. The breakfast consisted of a single croissant & coffee.
Review 55:The location is ideal in the center of SPA. That aside we couldn't wait to leave.
Review 56:The room was rather small and the heating (January) wasn't working during the night. Parking in front of the hotel possible but may be difficult.
Review 57:Very good location of the hotel in the centre of Spa, close to the cableway to Thermes. Breakfast was very good. Good oportunities for walking/hiking in the region.
Review 58:no working tv in room. Paid for a double and were forced into a twin. First words from owner upon arrival is that we were charged the wrong price as he hasn't put the prices up when we booked for the holiday season yet. Got the feeling that we were put into a below standard room because we were organised enough to book early and pay less. Overall not a good experience with this hotel.
Review 59:Location is good
Review 60:During the night, we heard plenty of different noise. We woke up from that noise probably from nearby bakeshop or chocolatier.
Review 61:The rooms are small but comfortable. The breakfast has not much choices but its okay. It fits for the price we paid. Location is great because the hotel is located at the center of Spa.
Review 62:The building is in desperate need of updating, my room had a foisty smell and the lighting was wholly inadequate. I think that there was light removed from the room when I turned them on LOL. That said, this was a one night stay over and simply somewhere to get my head down which was perfect for my needs.
Review 63:Convenient location to the Spa race circuit with loads of parking. The staff were great and the breakfast was lovely. Loads of great restaurants local to hotel.
Review 64:older style "quaint" place, best location in the center of town, right across street from tram to spa, quiet, good value, no elevator, pretty good breakfast included. I'd stay here again.
Review 65:Expensive. No obvious reception. Unmanned in the evening. Breakfast wasserved too late in the morning 08.00, (not good if you are on a businesstrip) No door on the toilet. By design.
Review 66:Stereotypical Belgian hotel. It was clean and characterful
Review 67:The were no bells and whistles associated with this room, but, it was clean and centrally located. The staff were pleasant. The hotel's restaurant menu was great and the food was phenomenal. In addition, the breakfast was excellent.
Review 68:The rooms are a little obscur, not enough lightening.
Review 69:Accurate advises from the owner regarding our visit to the Thermal station and future visits in Spa.
Review 70:Breakfast was not till 8am and we had to leave by 7am so we hadnothing to eat or drink in the morning you need coffe makeing machineor a kettle also it was not clear that we had to collect keys from theshop next door
Review 71:Nice and central clean
Review 72:Hotel was without reception - we gained entrance by opening the doorwith a keypad. Keys left on a shelf. Decor filthy and very 'tired'.Carpets appalling - stained and stinking toilet smells. Beds and linenworn out and dirty. Breakfast was very poor - just basics - stale breadand frozen croissants. Quite simply a cynical rip off.... .
Review 73:Run down. Old furniture. There are three flights of stairs and no elevator so not suited for people with mobility problems. No reception.
Review 74:The location is great. The price acceptable. The place is a bit run down though. Also there is no reception as such. We had to get our keys from the place next door so I would not call it a hotel
Review 75:Not our best hotel of our holiday travels. The room was small and lookedvery tired. The decorations, bedding and furnishings were poor and partsof the room were not clean. When we went for breakfast at the specifiedstart time we had to wait 15 minutes for the bread to arrive at thebuffet table.
Review 76:Consistent music and street noise from local night clubs Friday and Saturday night. Toiletries not refreshed during stay.
Review 77:Central location, ease of parking
Review 78:The entrance is a bit complicated.(you can call a staff by the intercom) There are a water heater, but it took a while to make the room hot, and it wasn't enough strong.(It was snow. So if it wasn't so cold, it won't be problem) Lamps of the room were fluorescent type lit bulbs, so it take a while to be enough lighted.
Review 79:The room was old but relatively clean and good quality. Good location especially to visit "le thermes de spa".
Review 80:Rooms are a bit out-dated. A little bit slow to warm up your room (heating is quite slow), but it was really cold when we were there (< 0 C).
Review 81:Price quality very good. Located in the center of Spa, so easy to access the city. There is no reception at the hotel, but that was not a problem for us (I assume it is also reducing the price of the rooms). We payed 59 euro for a twin room, which is very reasonable. The breakfast was also much better than we expected! The room (at the backside of the hotel on the 3th floor) was also very quiet.
Review 82:The heater worked, but it was not very hot. It was not terrible though. We had a problem with our toilet, which could not flush.
Review 83:The hotel was not as bad as some of the other reviews said. Maybe wewere lucky. The internet worked just fine. The free breakfast in themorning was simple but still quite good (bread, croissant, coffee, orange juice, yogurt, ham, cheese). There is no reception desk. I calledin advance and the man who answered the phone was very nice. He told methe code to get inside and gave me all the information. You pay at thepastry shop next door and they give you some free chocolates if youstayed at the hotel.
Review 84:Thermes of Spa are not the best I have ever been. A littledisappointing. Much better so many thermes in Germany, Budapest ones orthe natural thermes in Ourense (Galicia, Spain).
Review 85:Nice room, very nice breakfast. Close to funiculaire and path tothe thermes.
Review 86:bon petit dejeuners salle style suisse
Review 87:Very nice people, nice room, good breakfast and excellent location! good value for money.
Review 88:Ontbreken van receptie
Review 89:Kamer prima, ontbijt goed.
Review 90:Breakfast should start earlier than 8 o'clock in the morning
Review 91:Possibility to get key after check-in time, free wi-fi
Review 92:I needed to carry my luggage up to the top floor (3rd) by walking up.
Review 93:location
Review 94:room a little small
Review 95:good price, clean and comfortable. good breakfast
Review 96:Old bathroom, molt stains in shower, very dated interieur
Review 97:Location, friendliness and easiness of booking, paying etc
Review 98:old, dirty, 80 € for a small room with two old beds
Review 99:Location, center of Spa, start and finish of my bike trip
Review 100:Small, uncomfortable beds, temperature ranging from the shower. Very expensive for low quality hotel.
Review 101:Close to town and good breakfast
Review 102:No reception staff on premises, but very helpful over the phone
Review 103:Central location, nice price, good breakfast
Review 104:Breakfast and very friendly staff!!
Review 105:a good no frills place to stay, ideal for Spa. We use it all the time
Review 106:This was close to the Spa and had a wonderful restaurant rightdownstairs. Very nice breakfast too. Lovely little place.
Review 107:I didn't appreciate bread at breakfast , just point of vue.
Review 108:about evrything was ok
Review 109:Over Priced
Review 110:Great central location, very friendly and helpful staff. Clean rooms.
Review 111:Lack of tea & coffee making facilities
Review 112:Excellent location, basic facilities but clean and and perfectly adequate.
