Reviews for Banyan Tree Bangkok

Review 1:Perhaps a little corporate for a leisure holiday but this is a small gripe. Drinks at Skybar are very expensive and very weak although worth a visit for the spectacular view.

Review 2:Iconic Hotel - lives up to expectations

Review 3:During the day the lunch options in the hotel are not very elaborate.

Review 4:Extremely good service, you are welcomed into the hotel and they arrange everything for the checkin while you relax on the couch. The staff is super friendly and the hotel is beautiful and clean. Spacious rooms and comfortable beds.

Review 5:Prices rooftop bar a bit steep, although great location. Breakfast in executive lounge can be very busy, with too few staff.

Review 6:Got upgraded to a fantastic suite, room was very comfortable and excellent value. Staff very friendly and efficient.

Review 7:I booked airport transfer via email at time of booking, confirmed via email before we arrived and there was still no one at the airport. After ringing the hotel the rep was not standing at the correct gate and we had to find him...no good for the price. Confirmed return transfer again at check in but still had to confirm on the departure date.

Review 8:Spa, swimming pool and roof top bar. Also the way that you were checked in - from within your room

Review 9:We chose to go to the banyan tree but we found its location a little remote for night life bars etc but it is located in the business area so what did we expect that is the only reason I have not give it full marks for location

Review 10:The Banyan tree is the epitome of luxury with some of the nicest friendliest most accommodating staff you could wish for

Review 11:Outstanding! Service is unbeleivable. The staff wait on you hand and foot, ice cold water and friend bought round the pool. So clean. Double room is a suite with separate sitting room. Locations great. Views are amazing, especially at the vertigo roof restaurant where the food is also amazing. Suksan, a staff member I believe has been there for over 10 years, made our stay there. He's accredit to the hotel. And he gives the best massage in Thailand.

Review 12:Just that it was a little far out from the main night life, but that wasn't too much of a big deal.

Review 13:All of it! Staff, room, bed, bathroom, service, facilities.

Review 14:This hotel was absolutely incredible. The staff were great, nothing was too much hassle, the room was the best hotel room I've ever stayed in, very comfortable beds, beautiful bathroom, stunning views and the rooftop bar/restaurant was just stunning. Location wasn't ideal for what we wanted as young travellers but it still was only 5 or 10 minutes in a taxi to main tourist attractions such as the grand palace and Koh San Road. Could not fault this hotel. Perfect.

Review 15:The hotel's best restaurants (ie rooftop terrace) was fully booked, presumably with outside guests which seemed unfair. The staff were not well versed in English and making oneself understood was challenging. Service was slow.

Review 16:The hotel was beautifully appointed, the room was spacious and had a great view.

Review 17:The water in the pool was very cold.

Review 18:My bag got lost at the airport. The concierge service was excellent. Thank you so much again. The concierge called the airline many times until my bag was found. Without this friendliy service it would have been so much harder to get my bag back. The breakfast was excellent.

Review 19:A little too corporate and the lacking charm associated with the Banyan Tree group. Check in was very slow.

Review 20:Excellent room, great views, wonderful roof top restaurant and bar, friendly and helpful service, delicious and extensive breakfast. Great Japanese restaurant, although expensive for Thailand.

Review 21:Location not the best but easy enough to get cab or tuk tuk to most anywhere

Review 22:Bed very comfortable. Breakfast excellent. Club level floors well worth spending a little more on. Mr Wat at front door very funny.

Review 23:Nothing

Review 24:Beautiful hotel; immaculate, stylish, friendly attentive staff. Made to feel like celebrities from the moment we arrived. Our stay was our last night in Thailand and the end of our honeymoon and our amazing adventure in the land of smiles. Our room was gorgeous and the staff arranged a huge heart of petals on the foot of our bed, left us fruit and a bottle of wine (all complimentary) loved it here and now looking at booking the Banyan tree in Phuket. We even bought two of the Banyan Tree oil and incense burners to remind us of our experience!!! Very happy happy!!! Would definitely recommend and much nicer staff and better value for money than the Shangri-La!!

Review 25:The fact I was only here for one night will be back!

Review 26:Banyan Tree is without a doubt the best hotel I have personally stayed in, the feel of the lobby makes you feel your in for a special treat, sit down check in and welcome drink was lucky to get upgraded to a one bedroom suite, staff really great and helpful. Had dinner in one of the restaurants could not ask for better service. Of course you have to go and have a drink in the Moon bar (maybe just one kinda pricey but the view is amazing) Get there early gets packed on the weekends

Review 27:The pool area. Very little sunshine to sit in due to location of the pool. Far too small an area anyway for the size of the hotel. Little or no choice of seating due to size.

Review 28:The staff were amazing.

Review 29:Location is in the CBD (banks / embassies) and it is a 10 minute walk to anything "authentic".

Review 30:There was a leak in the corridor outside my room, but an immediate change (and upgrade) were offered immediately and without fuss.

Review 31:The bathroom was dirty!! The shower had built up soap scum clearly not cleaned. The drawers holding items such as cotton buds etc stained and filthy. The blind in the bathroom broken, the scales broken, no foam pillows (why bother sending an email requesting what you would like if you don't do it?!) the room was tired and old. The room has a coffee machine of course no coffee pods I call to ask Guest Services oh you can use the instant (which of course has also not been restocked!) I said so please advise why do I have a coffee machine if no pods? Oh you have a coffee machine we will send up pods straight away!! Hairs on tissue boxes. The whole experience has turned me completely off the Banyan Tree properties as it certainly not the experience I expected. It is NOT high end at all. Left feeling dirty and feeling gouged for $$.

Review 32:The only positive I can say about this hotel was the bed was at least comfortable. However, the king size" bed was too singles made up as one.

Review 33:The hotel is quite old and rooms smell old and dusty, bathroom details are simply dirty. The swimming pool area is too small and hardly is in the sun.

Review 34:Location is great and rooftop view is brilliant. Congierge is a great help.

Review 35:My only complain was the cost. Morning breakfast was really pricey.

Review 36:Lovely hotel! Staff couldnt have been nicer. The whole experience at the hotel was a treat.

Review 37:Room not ready on arrival, room not cleaned - human hair in bath for 3 days, not vacuumed dirty rooms on arrival , in my opinion highly over priced and poor value for price, all about appearance not substance

Review 38:Just a little far to walk to train stations and shops.

Review 39:We stayed here for 4 nights in one of their Club Rooms. Excellent value for money. The breakfast area in this area is a 10/10 and the staff also made it a good start to the day. In particular Anita who was the most charming person with a wonderful smile. I would return and stay here again even though it is a little out of the main shopping area . A must is the Vertigo Grill and Moon Bar on the 59th floor, we had dinner there and it was very expensive. But it was a special occasion and the service here was also 10/10. Well done Banyon Tree

Review 40:The hotel is very outdated and certainly not what i had expected from the banyan tree group .The concierge was probably the worst that i have ever experienced which is a service so vital for a city like bangkok .The location is also not for the regular traveller as it is not close to any central attractions and you will spend a very long time battling with traffic once you finally get a cab from the totally disorganised staff at the bell desk.Over all not a good experience.I would recommend a hotel such as the intercontinental for proximity and facilities.

Review 41:Breakfast was not included, very bad coffee, hardly any staff around, congee always cold, fruits avelable was a joke

Review 42:Big rooms, lots of space and bright

Review 43:The staff were fantastic and couldn't be more friendly or helpful. My room was very comfortable and the views from the rooftop restaurant are incredible.

Review 44:The rooms look tired and slightly dated. The Shower was a little ropey although I am being a bit picky. The lifts smelt of nail varnish remover and everything was so expensive....but the biggest let down was the pool. Hidden in the shade, with zero sun all day long and only about 15- 20 loungers meant that it was full most of the time and not relaxing as you would want. We stayed at the Oriental residence on the way back which was cheaper, had better rooms and a much better pool.

Review 45:The staff great you and welcome you warmly and sincerely. They are always on hand to help and do whatever they can to make your stay relaxing. The restaurant and bar on the roof was unbelievable as you watch the sunset over Bangkok and the moon rise was breathtaking. The food at the restaurant was also incredible, delicious and cooked well, go for the sharing starter!! The bed was lovely and comfy too.

Review 46:the hotel is pretty decent on the exterior however the interior has seen better years and the rooms need a major overhaul, the furnishings are old and rundown and a little dirty and dusty at times, our room 4205, the door knobs for a few of the cabinets and even the shower door was broken! rather disappointing for a reknown 5* hotel.

Review 47:the banyan tree branding is strong

Review 48:Location is fine for business/embassies but somewhat out of way for tourists. Versus other Bangkok 5 Star hotels, their breakfast is double the price but not up to par.

Review 49:Exception Staff and Service. One of the best reception staff I have seen. Nice lobby bar. The lady got me a custom made hamburger while waiting for room...very sincere. Rooms are very efficiently laid out and view from roof top bar is very nice.

Review 50:room was not cleaned until very late in the day , was expensive for drinks with poor service in moon bar

Review 51:location and service on arrival , stff in club room very helpful

Review 52:Some taxi drivers didn't know where the hotel was so we had to go to quite a few to get a ride back from the grand palace.

Review 53:The staff were extremely nice and welcoming and helpful.

Review 54:We really like our stay at the club floor at Banyan Tree, we had a lot of complimentary services. The best one was having the personal shopper to escort us to the shops to help with bargaining & show us the best store, her name is Beer.

Review 55:A little away from most attractions and points of interest

Review 56:We felt very welcome and staff were ready to deal with any needs. The bar and restaurant on the roof is very special if expensive for Bangkok.

Review 57:It is not convenience to take the public transport around the hotel.

Review 58:Clean, big, good facilities room. As I booked an en suite room, I could enjoy the free afternoon tea and the pre-dinner snack at the lounge that included: smoke salmon, salad, breads, fruits, tarts, cakes, champagne..

Review 59:Fantastic service and facilities - the staff were absolutely excellent and could not do enough for us. Stay in a suite if you can - the rates are incredibly reasonable and the list of benefits included are well worth it. An equivalent in London would cost you £500+ per night.

Review 60:Traffic - but that's a Bangkok thing not hotel specific

Review 61:Fantastic facility, -rooms, poool, rooftop bar. Stayed on the club floor - food and drink outstanding.

Review 62:Who ever built the hotel got the pool on the wrong side, so it gets very little sun

Review 63:Amazing service from start to finish. Lovely rooms. Good pool, gym & spa Roof terrace's are both amazing, the one on the 59th floor is less busy which is nice Good food in restaurants - although a little expensive

Review 64:Very happy friendly staff, more of a personal service than some of the larger 5 star hotels, clientele also seem better, not as flashy. Tranquil and homely. I really enjoyed my stay here.

Review 65:We had an issue with our breakfast but was immediately remedied by the general manager of food and beverage - thank you. The food on the roof is expensive and not filling for what you get and the service needs improving. Would recommend you eat at the Thai restaurant which was fantastic then go to the rooftop for the ambience and drinks only.

Review 66:From the front desk we where greeted with a warm smile and assistance. The room was like a mini suite plenty of room. The buffet breakfast is one of the best we have ever experienced. Location excellent.

Review 67:The model has been geared for Chinese travelers, with the "club floor" being the majority of guests. Online reviews encourage the upgrade to club, but the quality and standard of snacks/aperitivo is pretty poor. The breakfast in the foyer blitzed the "club floor" and it was empty, as the club guests insisted on staying upstairs to eat due the status! A win for us! Truly, I would prefer to pay the extra $70 and go to the Shangri La, where the club level and value truly is about personalized service, quality, good manners etc.

Review 68:The staff were pleased and willing to change our room due to strong chemical smells and loud banging/drilling from maintenance taking place on floors right above us (50\F or so). A shame we had to move though, as the only other room was a 2 bedder on a really low floor so we lost the lovely view.

Review 69:Not at all romantic in the CBD of BKK. Really a tired business hotel not a young, fresh romantic destination. No romantic frills and a disappointing pool area being small and cramped with little morning sunlight. Filthy windows.

Review 70:Vertigo bar and restaurant. First class.

Review 71:Enjoyed the whole stay. Nothing I can fault..

Review 72:Beautiful interior and design, amazing 360° views of the city at the Vertigo Rooftop, and excellent friendly service from all staff. Pool area was also very nice.

Review 73:Service was excellent. Hotel was really comfortable. Room was very spacious. Business facilities were excellent. We had a conference there and the quality of snacks, lunch and breakfast was really good.

Review 74:Shower was clogged so we couldn't shower properly the first morning but - after a little prompting - this was fixed by that evening.

Review 75:Lovely welcome and wonderful start to our Thai honeymoon with rose petals on the bed and a bottle of wine in our room on arrival. We enjoyed the rooftop bar one evening and a lazy morning by the pool.

Review 76:The bedroom was super clean however the minibar area was slightly dusty

Review 77:i had dinner reservations at Vertigo but was late by 30mins the staff took ownership and changed the reservation timing to suit me. Once at Vertigo the staff were very accomodating to my dietary requirements (halal food) and as i had a cold provided my woth hot water, lemon and honey. We were also upgraded to a one bedroom suite for no reason at all.

Review 78:A little too far from the sky train.

Review 79:I enjoyed all aspects of this hotel it is the third time I have visited and will do so again. It is in a convenient location if traveling by taxi to different landmarks. The staff were all very helpful and the accommodation was excellent.

Review 80:The bath is really small but the bathroom makes up for it and the shower is good enough to skip the bath

Review 81:From arrival to departure the hotel was fabulous. We requested an early check in and after an hour in transit from the airport in peak morning traffic we couldn't be happier that they were able to give us a room at 10am. The suite was comfortable, bed was perfect, pillows as requested (anti-allergy), and the hotel was nice and quiet. Even though busy Sathorn road is right there, you never hear it. We bought some large item souveniers and the hotel staff even helped us to find boxing and bubble wrap to box it up for travelling back home. We had breakfast two of the four mornings and it was a smallish buffet but all the essentials and some treats like Prosecco was a nice touch. We misplaced my husband's medicine, and called downstairs, they immediately sent up housekeeping and security to help us search for it. The whole situation was handled with utmost professionalism and something that could've gone very wrong was sorted in no time and with smiles. We are very impressed with the hotel and will certainly stay there again.

Review 82:this is grand luxury and service at its best! this was our first sop of our honeymoon and the staff were amazing! we had been upgraded to an amazing junior suite room, with a splendid view on the 45th floor, bottle of wine and fresh fruits on arrival. my husband lost his phone on the second night and the hotel staff worked so hard to find it it back with the police and taxi people that the next day at 8am, the phone was at reception - amazing! I would highly recommend their Thai restaurant (again amazing view and food!) and at their spa we had the best massage of our entire trip. their swimming pool and sauna facilities are fabulous and again the attention of the staff is such a nie gesture( free paper, sun cream, bottle of water...) a truly luxurious experience and we cannot wait to go back there for one of our anniversary.

Review 83:Happy Hour in the Club should rather start at 6-6:30 pm and continue to 8-8:30 pm so you have a chance to get there after a late afternoon Business committment.

Review 84:Freezing aircons, everywhere, especially in the club lounge. Rooms are tired and not well cleaned, particularly bathrooms. Temperamental hot water supply. Very strong smell of cigarettes in the room in the evenings, which was odd. Location is ok, but is far from everything, and no decent restaurants or bars closeby.

Review 85:Huge Suites, comfortable bed, complimentary laundry service, free wi-fi, good food at the lounge, sky bar, respectable neighbourhood, lovely Lumpini park 5 mins walk away.

Review 86:This hotel is very dark and a little tired looking. The room was rather dingy and not what I would have expected for the name and the location. Also the pool is very small for the size of the hotel and was consequently extremely crowded and unappealing.

Review 87:Nice toiletries and robes.

Review 88:The service was really outstanding. Very efficient helpful and friendly.the saize and the comfort of the room. The best bathtub comparing to all the five star hotel I have stayed in.Bathtub was huge big enough for two people and it even have two comfortable headrest on each ends. Rooftop bar was simply amazing. The pool was decent size and the water temperature was perfect.

Review 89:Unfortunately, some renovation work was carried out at the hotel entrance during our stay and it was quite noisy (but only when you were waiting for a taxi - no noise inside and it was something that just lasted for a few days...)

Review 90:Almost everything ! One of the best hotels in Bangkok. One recommendation: do not hesitate to upgrade yourself to a suite and enjoy the benefits of the Banyan Tree Club with separate check-in on the 19th floor, wonderful breakfast, drinks and snacks throughout the day, etc. Location of the hotel is great with nearby stations of both the Skytrain and the MRT (underground). Great staff full of attention and always genuinely smiling. Also great Apsara River Cruise with a nice dinner whilst visiting Bangkok from the Chao Praya River.

Review 91:Swimming poor are bit tiny, hotel a bit old

Review 92:The Chinese AM in reception are really really helpful and nice. Lovely food and services in the exclusive club lounge.

Review 93:I liked the fact that this time I stayed I had my daughter and granddaughter ànd partner with me. They and I loved our stay, we will be back, next time we're in Bangkok

Review 94:that they didn't have a shower in the sauna and steam room. One has to walk out to the corridor to the locker room for a shower in between the sauna sessions.

Review 95:The elegance feel to the hotel

Review 96:The location isn't great and taxis are reluctant to drive you to sukhumvit where most of the restaurants and bars are located due to congestion. We found one good Thai restaurant called Naga a short taxi ride away but otherwise hard to find places close by. The pool is disappointing - too small. We arrived after 3pm and our room wasn't ready. At the check-in in the club lounge even though it was my booking the lady spoke almost exclusively to my wife in Thai except when asking for my credit card!

Review 97:The club deluxe 1 bed suite is excellent - the best room we've had in Bangkok (same as we had last time we stayed here on our honeymoon). Spacious and comfortable with an amazing bathroom complete with all the amenities you could wish for plus oil burner and oil of the day! The club lounge is pretty good and the wines at happy hour each evening are decent quality. Generally excellent service and friendly staff.

Review 98:Staff were very helpful and in addition i fell ill whilst were staying at The Banyan Tree and they were really helpful and could not have done more for us.

Review 99:Dining on first floor restaurant was a very bad experience. We ordered three dishes and non of them was delicious

Review 100:All staffs behaviour and prompt services were awesome. Thank u

Review 101:Total maddness- the best feature of the hotel - it's sky deck -is closed all day until around 5pm???? Reason given -it gets hot up there !!! We traveled 6000 miles to be in the warm and In joy the views !! As a business are they mad!! Insult to injury none of the ground staff seem to know this fact -or the fact let's say you would like to In joy a casual sun downer drink -there is a drees code !! Trousers and shoes in what is mostly 30 degrees plus - I have had this before in the middle east and it never ceases to amaze me that these hotels insist on NOT given there client what they want !! Whos idea in the business was this - they clearly have not seen the disappointment we saw as people were turned away because they were not dreesed as required, all prepared to spend what would have added up to thousands of pounds - to preempt the thought of the calaber of people would become not desirable is a nonsense -just a few drinks will set you back in the rigion of 80-100 pounds so 99% of travellers would have been just the kind of clients wanted at this hotel and in most part were dreesed very smartly but as you would think in clothes that match the climate . Service industries that doesn't give the client what it wants is doomed, take heed banyan!!!

Review 102:Sky deck when it's open !

Review 103:Overpriced hotel and food! Paid £100 for one night in this hotel although it was great I stayed in another for £40 in Bangkok which was better and had the same if not better views! Would recommend visiting the rooftop bar for drinks but not food.

Review 104:Very nice hotel good location only a short drive to main parts! Very nice staff! Roof top bar is amazing !

Review 105:Nothing to put my finger on! Spotless service!!

Review 106:Fantastic hotel! Very kind and helpful staff. The food is superb, the facility's execelnt, the decor nice and modern and the room size good! Great view from the room, but the moon bar is a must see!

Review 107:The location is ok, depending on what one looks for. We moved to a hotel by the river and enjoyed it a lot. Rather a business hotel?

Review 108:We chose the hotel because of the phantastic view of the rooftop restaurant to start our trip through Thailand. The view is absolutely fantastic but the restaurant rather expensive (but delicious). The beds are very comfortable.

Review 109:extremely helpful staff who went to great lengths to ensure that any questions we had were answered promptly and with professionalism. our overall memory is that everyone appeared to actually enjoy their job,and guests staying at this hotel certainly benefit from this level of commitment.

Review 110:Too far from everything. Extremely expensive to eat or drink here but due to location having not much else around you are sort of restricted to the hotel. We would have loved to eat and drink by the pool or on rooftop every day but it was hideously overpriced, made us uncomfortable overall.

Review 111:Breakfast was amazing, great choices. Really helpful concierge.

Review 112:Even though it has very modern and clean looking rooms ... For some reason it has a old feel to it

Review 113:Great staff great amenities in room and comfortable beds

Review 114:Everything was amazing. The staff very helpful room really nice. They couldn't do enough for us. We both celebrated our birthdays while we were there and they even bought a cake and candles to the room. We booked the club room option and enjoyed the breakfast, snacks and drinks that were included. We didn't want to leave.

Review 115:Too expensive dinner for the quality of the food, worn and outdated room, a little boring pool area.

Review 116:Breakfast, excellent view, very good service, free water at gym.

Review 117:Fruit basket was poor with two green oranges. Odor in the room. Dusty carpets in the room. Dust on the bedside table. Overpriced room service breakfast. Broken furniture in the bathroom.

Review 118:Beautifully scented soaps and cosmetics. Phenomenal view. Really friendly staff, checked us in way before 2pm.

Review 119:No bad experience .

Review 120:We only stayed for one night , but this hotel is really nice and clean . The staff are very nice and willing to help for anything you need . Their room service portions are really good value for money and delicious . I would definitely stay here again .

Review 121:1- can't enter dorian fruit to the hotel 2- the location of the hotel little far from the main downtown entertainments and nightlife 3- some furnitures need to be replaced and some minor re-renovation.

Review 122:1- staff 2- quick response 3- hotel transportation and tiktok 4- varaity of options in the breakfast 5- roof restaurant

Review 123:The wifi was slow and was constantly fluctuating.

Review 124:The staff were extremely accommodating , courteous and friendly . The welcome we received every time we entered the hotel was fabulous. The facilities at the lounge and the coffee were superb! We were given an early check in which was very convenient and exactly what was needed. The rooms and bathrooms were large, spacious and comfortable !

Review 125:Facilities were quite old, didn't even have rain shower in room. It probably need a revamp in the near future. Staff definitely not at 5 star standard, at least not Thai or Asian 5 star. They seemed quite annoyed when I asked more than two questions. Would definitely book other more modern hotels next time.

Review 126:The view of the bar. Toiletries.

Review 127:Concierge is not aware of timings and special events at bangkok nightclubs and lounges. WIFI not strong in room.

Review 128:Thank you for the early check in. Standard Rooms have a nice separate sitting area. Spa is one of the best.

Review 129:Like the room, the facilities in the hotel, lounge facilities is really good, nice but small pool.Staff is friendly and accommodating. Great location, quite central. Free tuk tuk shuttle to the train station. Free shuttle to a few place but the trimmings is limited.Housekeeping is amazing.

Review 130:Separate sleeping and living areas. Dark wood decoration theme in rooms. Excellent wifi network speed. Spa incense in room is a nice touch Room cleaning staff appears a shortage as general room cleaning/evening turn down were late . But still, hotel did well in this area. Airport transfer service from hotel was a breeze and comfortable.

Review 131:we booked 2 rooms, and it took the hotel an hour to have the 2nd room ready. I called multiple times to see if it was ready and each time they said they would call back with an answer, they never did.
