Reviews for The Best Western Pentagon

Review 1:Not that the hotel could be blamed, but we did experience two power failures. One that lasted nearly one and a half hours and the other around half an hour. This upset our plans for showering and getting ready to attend a military funeral at Arlington National Cemetery on Wednesday. Also , put a crimp in other plans we had. But, again, was a fault of the weather or power company. Would probably stay here again if the situation arises.

Review 2:Staff was very helpful. When asked for restaurant suggestions they produced a list of a nearby area that had 20 or more restaurants and was easy to drive to.

Review 3:None

Review 4:From being welcomed at reception; to the cleaning staff, the drivers, access to laundry and the breakfast menu, all were worth more than 2.5 stars and we would rate this property at 3-4 stars. Exceptional value with exceptional people. Excellent.

Review 5:old need many things to be change bad, knob for all door special me I go two room same and safe box not working for two room until someone from the hotel to fixed.

Review 6:Location,breakfast,

Review 7:Not walking distance from subway (though shuttle service helped out). Most of the hotel guests were there for the marathon, yet didn't provide extended check out for marathon runners to shower up. Given that it was Sunday, I don't imagine the hotel was full Sunday to warrant not letting people stay a little longer.

Review 8:Your typical budget motel.

Review 9:Lots of water damage in the room, pm desk clerk was quite rude in the one interaction I had with him. Close to a sketchy neighborhood

Review 10:It was convenient, breakfast was good, generally clean. Free shuttle to Metro station and airport

Review 11:No elevator

Review 12:I traveled with my retired parents to visit Washington DC. We like this hotel because it offered free shuttle to airport and metro station. Free breakfast: quite a few selections but no fresh fruits. I had booked hotel thru booking.com. We were assigned a room upstairs all the way at the end and there were no elevators. I had to manually lift my rolling suitcase and carry-on bags plus my parents. One male member did manage to help with one suitcase. The krup coffee maker in the room was dysfunctional nod was switched out on second day. Overall stay was pleasant. Be ready to wait for 2nd shuttle of 1st one is full

Review 13:Not knowing the hours of the shuttle and that you are charged for convenience fee and not be told about it

Review 14:I liked the location and the fact that the hotel shuttle took you to a couple location to catch the train into the city.

Review 15:Older facility with doors that open to outside. Staff at desk not that friendly. Housekeeping and breakfast staff much nicer.

Review 16:Great location and very clean.

Review 17:would have preferred more flexable shower head and arm

Review 18:B'fast was delicious, comfortable beds, good parking facilities with the shuttle bus option.

Review 19:2 large black spiders next to bed. One small white spider in dining rooom. When I told the front desk they said they will tell the exterminator who comes every 2 weeks to do that room.I think they needed to call him sooner for the entire place!

Review 20:Great rooms & breakfast

Review 21:Great for a short or a medium-long stay, has everything we needed, very simple and no extra luxuory, very clean. The breakfast is a highlight, you have to try the blueberry waffles :) there is also a shuttle bus who brings you every 30 minutes to Boston.

Review 22:The walls are thin and it was a bit noisy when the guests next door started their shower and packed up at 4:30 AM. It is a bit far from from DC but they do provide a free shuttle to the metro.

Review 23:It wasn't 5 star, but the breakfast was quite good, considering this is a BW. There is a free shuttle to the metro. Staff was friendly and very helpful.

Review 24:Arrived late evening, alloted Room 161, none of the table lamps worked. Then allotted Room 162 where one table lamp was not working. Finally settled in Room 163. Since we were 4, additional soap cakes would have been appropriate

Review 25:The breakfast was good with a wide choice

Review 26:Online booking did not make it clear that "Park and Fly" was an extra expense, but luckily that option was available still when we checked in for an extra cost.

Review 27:Shuttle to the airport was great (if not overcrowded early in the morning!)

Review 28:Drapes stood out from the window too far and didn't block out the lights outside. With the light shining through it was very difficult to sleep.

Review 29:Location and price were good.

Review 30:Had to wait for the shuttle too long every time, breakfast was fine but there were too few tables at some times and the tea was not good. I think real cups would avoid wasting so many paper cups and would be a plus.

Review 31:It wasn't far from the metro line and city center - even by car- which made it great

Review 32:the exterior facilities could use a facelift, the stairwells needed to be recemented and painted and washed, smelled strongly of urine

Review 33:the location was right off the highway so it was convenient getting too

Review 34:Nothing bad at all!

Review 35:Free WLAN, free breakfast, comfy bed - what else can you ask for when you just need a place to stay for the night and plan your road trip one day ahead?

Review 36:I liked everything. I am glad I found this option. I had an event at another hotel, and there were no more rooms, or they were ridiculously expensive. The Pentagon was an excellent alternative for me.

Review 37:Front desk personnel (Romy & Kaitlin) were very polite when busy with customers on the phone & in person at the same time. They were both efficient & helpful. Pool was a welcome retreat after sightseeing in the heat. Breakfast was excellent, abundant and service person constantly keeping area clean & well-stocked. Definitely would visit again.

Review 38:It's kind of a super motel with pathways on the outside of the buildings. The shuttle from the Metro stop is often packed.

Review 39:Sort of an odd location, but if you are good with the city buses, it's easy to get back and forth. The breakfast is copious. You can walk a few blocks and over the river to the Village at Shirlington for restaurants and bars.

Review 40:only half of electrical outlets worked. Only one switch for bathroom light and fan. Fan was loud.

Review 41:Breakfast was great. Free shuttle to metro was great.

Review 42:The breakfast was included and it was excellent. The shuttle bus was a big plus. It took us right to the subway stop and ran consistently on time. The pool was very nice. there was a lifeguard on duty when the pool is open. The rooms were clean the staff was friendly and it was well worth the money that was spent for the room.also there was free parking there.

Review 43:The receptionist was less than friendly. The room had a musty, wet smell. The fitness room smelled awful. They must have had water damage because their was a big industrial fan & dehumidifier inside. Old & rundown. Not worth the money to stay.

Review 44:Close to the airport with free shuttle.

Review 45:Room was needing some fixing- had a water leak and some rooms had musty odor. Pool was nice - if they adhered to the times they said it would be available to guests - they had an outside a company running it & the person on duty was very rude.

Review 46:Decent breakfast & good vale for your money. I liked the free shuttle every 30 min. To metro & mall where there were plenty of eateries & easy metro into DC. Convenient location & free shuttle to airport. Bed was very comfortable and good quiet ac.

Review 47:All the ice machines were broken. At a very noisy intersection. Toilet ran all night. breakfast could have been better

Review 48:The location is right off the exit. The pool was good. Beds were comfortable.

Review 49:Location not good for eating meals not many restaurants nearby.

Review 50:We liked the shuttle to the metro. Although it services two motels and gets crowded too fast.

Review 51:The room for breakfast did not seem to be air conditioned, it was way too warm/hot for July. The food was cold & bland, Coffee was horrible Requested a quiet room & was told one was available but truck noise came through loud and clear.

Review 52:Bed was great

Review 53:We were locked out of our room for over an hour while they tried to open our door. The sink in our bathroom only dribbled water. There were ants on the night stand. Orange juice was unavailable both mornings for breakfast.

Review 54:I booked room through Booking.com prior almost 20 days but when I arrived the Hotel Staff said there is no booking at all. I Dont understand who fault it is the websitie or Hotel receptionist. Beacuse I Booked room in 98.27 but after visiting i had to rent some room in 125 per night

Review 55:Whole thing was wonderfull Breakfast,WIFI, Cleaness , Free Shuttle to Reagon Airport

Review 56:Quality of room was horrible. Holes in carpet, rust in tub, phone wasnot hooked up, had to buy a power strip to charge my phone, curtainswere almost 6" short of covering window so had to cover the gapwith a towel to maintain privacy. Asst. Manager offered to reduce mybill (I was booked for 4 days) but did not offer to change my room. Atcheckout, there was no reduction on the bill. Horrible experience!!Several other problems, no more room to list them.

Review 57:Staff and breakfast were good. The place was reasonably clean, exceptfor the day that housekeeping forgot to clean my room.

Review 58:Everything was very nice but the air conditioning needed fixing. Old units that didn't work as expected.

Review 59:We loved the location. It was easy to get to great restaurants as well as DC sights and the airport.

Review 60:Maintenance of facility. AC didn't work well, staff sent someone in to fix, but did not. Heat was coming out 2nd night. Had to change rooms. Shower would not totally be off when turning on faucets for bath. Dripping constantly. Had to request additional towels daily as we had 5 people and only received 2-3 towels per day.Door to room hard to open-stuck. Walls paper thin. Could hear plumbing and noises next door. Shuttle to Metro station awful. Not enough shuttles for all the passengers. Waited 45 minutes (after 2 shuttles had no room) from Metro station back to hotel at 4:30 in afternoon on weekday.

Review 61:Pool and breakfast were the best parts

Review 62:Beds were uncomfortable. 15 min. from Metro. They advertise free shuttle but had to wait for it, many times over half hour.

Review 63:Priced well, staff was friendly and helpful. Had a very nice hot breakfast.

Review 64:We called reception for a shuttle from the airport. She forgot to convey the message to driver and left us stranded at the Airport for an hour. The shuttle service is insufficient for the amount of people who require transport to the subway station.

Review 65:The breaksfast was the best we had on our whole trip

Review 66:the monotonous breakfast. some variety is required.Maybe 1 day or 1 dish per day to cater for the taste preference of people like me.

Review 67:friendly& helpful staff. Clean rooms.Breakfast.

Review 68:I was not expecting this to be a motel. The price and the photos did not indicate that this would be the case. Shuttle into town was very convenient, although at busy times, the shuttles were full and you had to wait an hour for a ride home.

Review 69:Breakfast was amazing. Bed was comfortable.

Review 70:Where to start! Shuttle always too crowded so we ended up taken taxis. 2nd nite we asked for extra blankets. In the morning the boys were covered in flea bites & fleas visible in bed.the staff did move is into another room that included a fridge & micro.... However, they put us in the middle of rooms occupied by a huge family reunion with lots of kds. Needless to say sleep eluded us for several nights. Lastly the hotel is very outdated with very thin walls/windows & no elevator. The ac worked but sounded like a jet engine every time it started. The "blackout" curtains were ineffective. In the end, they did upgrade us to a refrig/microwave but only took $40. Off our bill.

Review 71:Breakfast, staff, shuttle to metro

Review 72:Our rooms were not ready for check-in at the promised time (4:00pm) but until almost 5:00pm. They never apologized for it!

Review 73:Bed, Location and Breakfast were very good! Very easy to get to any place through Shuttle (free) and Metro! Good Price also!

Review 74:It is a classic continental breakfast, my issue is the lack of fruits for those that don't eat breads or any form of baked goods.

Review 75:It is a good hotel with decent breakfast and free parking just about 10 minutes away from the Capitol Hill. Not far there are a few restaurants which were very good. The rooms are very nice, just the air conditioning is a bit noisy. Free wifi works like a charm.

Review 76:Room is outdated and smells weird. Bed and pillow are not comfy. I actually do not feel safe in a room. This is more or less like a motel. It is really inconvenient to stay here if you do not have car with you and have a lot of luggage. A room is in another building with steps from the lobby. If it is raining, you and your luggage will be soak. Also the airport bus is inconvenient (only the route from the airport to the hotel) since you need to contact the hotel upon your arrival. The van does not run on schedule but upon your request. I arrived DCA around 8 PM on weekday. However, it took me so long to wait at the airport (40 min plus) even after the van had arrived since a driver/hotel wants to collect as many as passengers in one time. You're better off take a taxi.

Review 77:Staffs are quite nice.

Review 78:the rooms were wonderfully clean, felt safe, enjoyed the shuttle service, and breakfast was awesome. Would definitely stay here again when traveling to DC

Review 79:Nice places around, I recommend visiting Village of Shirlington and especially Cheesetique, very refined winery to relax in the evening. It is not a walking distance, but very short driving.

Review 80:A free, full hot breakfast was available every morning. There was also a free shuttle to the airport and the local Metro station that ran every thirty minutes. Clean rooms, very nice & helpful staff.

Review 81:Outdated carpets and upholstery, no microwave (if you care), too much crowd on the shuttle because they combined their shuttle with comfort inn (5 people trying to fit in a 3 person seat) with people often having to miss out and take own transportation while other hotel shuttles were plying empty First guy at the front desk was kinda rude

Review 82:Excellent breakfast, frequent shuttle service, proximity to metro station, size of rooms

Review 83:The room was damp and humid. The walk to the hotel room is rather desolate and creepy.

Review 84:The breakfast was very good and well stocked. The room had all the necessities but was older.

Review 85:I don't like was the fact that we're 2 people in the room and they don't left sufficient soap, shampoo and conditioner. The other thing that I don't like was about the gym they don't have a/c over there and not pleasant odor or humidity. The little shop they have over there I went twice and the 2 things that I looking for they don't have it, it was orange juice, and moist towelettes (baby wipes)

Review 86:The staff is very friendly and helpful

Review 87:The hotel charged me around $30 extra per day than what was agreed upon by Booking.com, I realized it after I left the hotel. Called them many times, mailed to them with all details but even after a week they have not reversed the excess amount charged. Very insensitive to customers feelings. For three days stay they have to refund me the excess amount of $100 plus. No response to all my mails & calls .

Review 88:I expect more from a $100.00 room. Nothing was wrong, just not any nicer than many $50.00 hotels I have stayed in.

Review 89:The room was clean and my limited interaction with staff was all very pleasant.

Review 90:Door lock and fit of the door was a constant problem. Bath tub is very dated and I would only take a shower -- not a bath.

Review 91:Very convenient location for airport, driving where we needed to go in the rental car, and access to the Metro via the van at the lobby entrance.

Review 92:I really think the bathroom needs to be updated. The one we had was cramped over by the toilet. The paper dispenser was right on top of it. And door was right there next to it too.

Review 93:The shuttle was great. It dropped us off right at pentagon city and we caught the metro. Also the breakfast was good. The ladies in the breakfast area were very friendly.

Review 94:No complaints

Review 95:It was close to Arlington Cemetery and right off 395. Couldn't have been easier Breakfast, staff & comfort were great and the pool allowed us to relax after an emotional morning The restaurant at the neighboring Comfort Inn was very close and convenient

Review 96:Not really a bad experience, but some of the staff could not speak nor understand English. In order to better serve the guests, they should all be able to understand what we're saying.

Review 97:Friendliness of staff, clean, convenient.

Review 98:Room had a smell to it, bathroom door wouldn't shut without massive force, only 1 towel in room for 5 people(2 adults 3 children under 5), walls so thin the people's shower at 3 am woke up everyone in our room, free wifi worked for 15 minutes then we couldn't get reconnected.

Review 99:Not much.

Review 100:After a long, hard drive to D.C., hotel had not received our reservation from Booking.com. They explained that fax machine might have been busy when reservation (made and confirmed a month earlier) tried coming though.

Review 101:Manager did pull through and found us a room.

Review 102:The shower water knobs were frozen with buildup. they tried to loosen them and partially succeeded, but they still were hard to turn. There was a leak somewhere in the bathroom so the floor was always wet. The location was isolated from any other food facility, and the hotel tram was unreliable for return transport.

Review 103:The free breakfast was very good. The room was clean except for the leak in the bathroom.

Review 104:1. Outdated appearance (set up like hotels in the '70's), 2. Awakened by 3 members of housekeeping after 10 pm (repeated knocking on door, even after yelling they had the wrong room) to give us 2 washcloths we never asked for, 3. We had 2 bottles of conditioner and no shampoo. This makes 3 strikes...we moved to Embassy Suites for other 2 nights.

Review 105:Location, free parking and free Wi-Fi

Review 106:The shutter finish to work at 10:00 . We didn't know about it , so we were in the airport at 10:05 pm and we had to take a taxi. We couldn't take a Shower because they have the staff broken, also the phone service in the room didn't work. Because of That when we arrive to the hotel we couldn't take a shower, and also they didn't provide the code to use wi fi .

Review 107:Breakfast was good

Review 108:The hotel itself was ran down and looked like something out of an horror movie. When we finally entered our room we discovered that the bathroom was old and looked as if it was about to cave in from old of the water damaged that had previously been addressed but never fixed properly. The tub and the ceiling had mold, paint chippings everywhere the shower curtains were old and ripped, we had no wash clothes at all and we had to call front desk about that and the beds were hard as a rock and needless to say we didn't get a good nights rest at all. Was happy to leave that location and never ever look back again.

Review 109:This hotel should be closed down immediately. No one should have to stay or pay at this location and I'm going to be contact corporate office regarding our stay at this location. I should have checked out when we checked in but it was late and most of the hotels were already booked which was why we had no other choice and plus it was late when we had arrived but other than that we would have left.

Review 110:The rooms open to the outside and the room can be a bit noisy...but it's DC right?

Review 111:Rooms were very spacious and comfortable and had everything needed in a hotel. Did not spend a ton of time at the hotel because we wanted to get out and see DC. Free continental breakfast each morning was fantastic and much better than most hotel breakfasts. Free wifi and free parking were helpful in reducing expenses. While the hotel is a bit further away from the main touristy things, the free shuttle to the Metro was very easy to get on and took us right to the Metro stop. If you timed things well, the shuttle and metro combined usually was around 30 minutes to the National Mall which made it worth the savings of staying outside of town.

Review 112:Where to begin? Perhaps the strong smell of urine in the walkways was a clue to the attitude of the management. There are no elevators so I had to drag my bags up steep stairs. When I got to the room there were no available outlets to plug in my chargers without unplugging some important device. The noise from the bathroom in the next room kept waking me up. The air conditioning was insufficient, and the ice machine didn’t work. The television did not have CBS and appeared to be some sort of limited cable. it is a $9 Uber ride to the nearest Metro and $15 to Reagan. No restaurants or bars in the hotel or nearby have never written a review before this, but I feel people need to know what to expect if they chose to stay here.

Review 113:free wifi and breakfast

Review 114:The first room commode was stopped up and overflowed into the bathroom. The phone didn't work. After several calls to the front office, Ihad to appear in person to get a change of rooms. There was nohousekeeping staff available to take care of any problems. The staff Italked to left without telling oncoming staff my problem. I asked for arate reduction for having to change rooms at near midnight. I was givena reduction of less than 10% after having to ask for it the second time.We consider our stay a little bit better than awful. I think we shouldget a full refund.

Review 115:The facilities in the second room were functional

Review 116:The toilet ran and you heard the water running when the used it from the other units above us and on the sides of us.

Review 117:Room size and bed were very nice. Breakfast was great.

Review 118:I didn't like the room. It was upstairs. When we were ready to leave the steps were very slippery and my son almost fell. Our room was old fashioned and needed an uplift. It smelled musty and the air-conditioner was very noisy, like a plane taking off on a runway. Linens and towels looked gray not white.backpacker

Review 119:It was close to Arlington Cemetery. I also liked the complimentary breakfast.

Review 120:The walls are very thin and noise transfer is at times excessive. I was on the first floor and every time the people above used the toilet it felt as if a water line has burst. There were hairs in there corner wall under the safe. The bathroom was clean but out dated. It was ok but not perfect.

Review 121:The staff were very pleasant. The breakfast was great, although not much fresh fruit. There is a free shuttle that takes you to Ronald Reagan airport and to Pentagon city metro every half hour.

Review 122:The toilet ran on and off all night. The bathroom rattled and carried on like an old airplane when it first turned on.

Review 123:The breakfast was nice. Check in and out was great. It was close to the interstate and easy yo find.

Review 124:I was a little perturbed when I received my receipt, which I looked at after we were on our way - the price was not what I was quoted when I reserved the room. However, when I checked my credit card account, the bill had been amended to the correct price. Thank you, Best Western, for correcting - and thank you booking.com if it was your doing. So all worked out in the end.

Review 125:It was a reasonable price, easy to get to by car; although I would rather have stayed in city centre, there was nothing available in my price range there so this was the better alternative. The motel was decent enough, to spend the night.

Review 126:Not walking distance to a metro stop - but this was not enough to deter from choosing this hotel again in the future.

Review 127:The hotel was clean, the staff was friendly, and the location was easy to find. Fantastic breakfast in the morning and shuttle service is a great asset.

Review 128:The wi fi was down in my part but I had to complain twice before anyone admitted that. Then they moved us to a part where the wi fi worked. sort of hard to get their attention.

Review 129:This property is a bit dated but fine

Review 130:Ice machine not working and a building site instead of swimming pool.

Review 131:Reception staff were extremely helpful and breakfast was excellent with friendly staff.

Review 132:night we checked in a guy was sitting in the lobby on a cell phone talking about what seemed like a drug deal. very loud. also i understand some parts of the hotel were being updated but our room one could tell was not cleaned as much as i would expect for the price

Review 133:breakfast and staff

Review 134:Their were not enough towels in the room. We inform the front desk and they never brought any more towels up to us as they said they would. Also the heat was not working. The bathroom vent were not working water was leaking down on us from the bathroom. Would not stay there again. It should be rated a 2 star.

Review 135:The wifi didn't work and we couldn't get a hot shower on our last night. It would have been nice to use the pool as well.

Review 136:The shuttle was great to get to the metro and airport. The breakfast was was worth it.

Review 137:Plastic cutlery and paper plates for breakfast served in a scruffy area, sitting on wrinkled chair covers at big conference tables with dirty tablecloths.

Review 138:Spacious clean room, comfortable bed

Review 139:wifi could have been a bit stronger

Review 140:The staff went above and beyond to ensure my experience was great. rooms were clean and comfortable. location was awesome for site seeing in Washington.breakfast was really goood! Overall great place !
