Reviews for St Svithun Hotel

Review 1:No Hairdryer.

Review 2:Room. Staff. Restaurant. Good WiFi. Near with bus stops. The lunch packet is cheap (75 NOK). They have big pizza which you can have it for two persons. I was surprised that this hotel is adjacent with a hospital.

Review 3:This hotel is part of a hospital. The location and atmosphere therefore are highly related.

Review 4:Great if visiting hospital patients, but otherwise not ideal.

Review 5:Cleaning stafff at room - the floor was not cleaned up for 4 nigths with vacuumclenerr - still small junk on floor Cleaning staff at restaurant - during breakfest couple minutes after10am - woman was cleaning floor below chairs and tables , where i was still sitted. If is possible improve as soon as possible. Ventlatio -recuperat ductpiping system is in room without regulation - cold air is heavy and droping straight to the floor (position of bed below inlet air difusor - thar was not comfortable sit on bed during working by tablet/notebook. For this reason i blindendet duct pipe D125mm every day late afternoon till morning- than relesed blinder /hole towel with bag/

Review 6:Another points of accomondation was generally fine. I hope ,that i willSee you in future again. Good luck

Review 7:Hotel is about 30 min walk from the city center. Hotel is a part of hospital so there are patients coming around in their pidjamas.

Review 8:Very clean, free wi fi, good breakfast and good price as for Norvay.

Review 9:not in the city center

Review 10:breakfast is really great compare to any other hotel in Norway. the place is very Organized and clean as next to Hospital. parking is simple and cost 2Euro from 20:00 to 08:00 Magda and the team really went beyond to assist us as we needed to leave during the night. baby crib & water cattle were given free

Review 11:This hotel is actually a patient hotel for the hospital next door so they day we arrived they were overbooked due to the high number of patients who get priority. This is understandable however we had to wait over an hour to be let into our room - which we had booked almost 3 months in advance. Also our room was not cleaned at any point during our entire stay. Decent price however next time I will pay a little bit more and stay elsewhere.

Review 12:Good breakfast every morning!

Review 13:A little bit far from the center of Stavanger (20min walking with a hill to climb or only 5min by bus). The entrance was not very well indicated.

Review 14:Buffet for breakfast. Clean and comfortable room with TV and free wifi.

Review 15:long distance to the city centre (about 30 min on foot)

Review 16:very good quality of accomodation for low price, helpful and friendly staff, tasty and abundant breakfast, no problems with wi-fi

Review 17:However if you're on foot, it's about 25/30 minutes to the town centre, and the route's a little complicated.

Review 18:So long as you can get past the fact that St Svithun is literally in the same building as a neighbouring hospital, there's a lot to love. Wonderful staff both times I've stayed, clean room, great spread for breakfast and a convenient (though pricey) snack shop on the bottom floor.

Review 19:I didn't like the fact that being adjacent to a hospital. It's relatively far from city centre.

Review 20:I like the size of the room. Also I like the free wifi.

Review 21:I was not expecting "ending up" in a hospital. Having dinner with hospitalized people, their worried relatives and doctors, is not my cup of thee during my business trip. Very unexpected and definitely unexpected experience!

Review 22:It's part of a hospital. Essentially an outpatient hotel. Not very business like to be with hospital patients in the lobby and at the breakfast/dinner. The room/bathroom was not cleaned during the 4 days of my stage. I even received a message to remove my linen after use which the front desk didn't know what it it meant and I ignored.

Review 23:The restaurant staff was friendly,

Review 24:woke up to pee during the night found my bed filled with bedbugs. Got a new room and there where more bed bugs. The 3rd room was clean. They offered to clean our cloths, picked them up delivered them the next day but had not cleaned them got me in the same bags... All in all we will never come back.

Review 25:free wifi.

Review 26:I don't know what happened but on the second day of my stay my bed wasn't done!! unless it is the way you always do.

Review 27:The of staff were very friendly and helpful. I loved the location as well due to easy access to link up with airport and town center.

Review 28:It's a hospital you eat with patients and doctors , the photos suggested it might be dettached just next door, if you're a tourist don't waste your money here pay to stay in town , I left after the first night . Stavanger is far too nice a place to visit only to feel like your spending the night in a ward

Review 29:The rooms were fine look and are what 3.5 star hotels should be

Review 30:Given that transport is costly in Norway, the not so central location of the hotel means you will probably have to spent quite a bit on transport everyday.

Review 31:Being a hospital hotel, it was neat, simple and clean as expected.

Review 32:buffet was very very poor. vacuum machines at 7 opened the door when i was sleep they room did not get cleaned for the 2 days i stayed in though i was mostly out. they cleaned the wash room only.

Review 33:location. nice staff at the reception and kitchen.

Review 34:I thought that staying at a hospital hotel might be creepy--and it was! Eating meals in the same dining room and same food service line as the hospital patients was not pleasant. The room was ridiculously small, about the size of a medium walk-in closet, for a hotel at any price, but for $222 per night one expects more. Of course this is Norway, where expectations are always low and accordingly the populace is seldom disappointed.

Review 35:The staff was excellent. Tonja was pleasant, efficient, and extremely helpful.

Review 36:It may be worrying at first that the hotel is directed connected to a hospital. However, this was not an issue whatsoever as all people are nice so do not be afraid to give the hotel a try if you are looking for a short stay.

Review 37:The room was clean and tidy, towels got changed every day and we got a nice and quite room as requested.

Review 38:Breakfast was a bit limited and not particularly good - but not really a problem, there was enough to eat.

Review 39:The hotel is actually a part of a hospital maternity ward - it was pretty cool seeing the mum's with their newborn babies - unexpected but great!! It was very clean, comfortable and good value for money. It's not what you'd book for a romantic week end - but suited us for this trip

Review 40:- this is a HOSPITAL accommodation, there is a "hospital sterile smell" in the rooms - mediheli makes a lot of noise - didn't enjoy having my breakfast with patients - no shampoo etc. available - no hair dryer

Review 41:+ staff very friendly + nice walking routes nearby the hotel

Review 42:Flies at breakfast on the food were a bit disapointing considering it was a hospital.

Review 43:Free helicopter entertainment, very convenient bus service to city, good breakfast, good value. An unusal stay but well worth it. Great internet and a good car park.

Review 44:Easy to find as everyone knows about the "St Svithun's University Hospital". Bus No 9 from the stop near the Central Bus Station takes 7 mins to reach the stop right next to the hotel. My Room was a bit small, but functional and very clean. No hairdryer.. Electric heating works well, and it was very quiet. Good breakfast from 6.30-10am with selections of bread, fruits, etc.. Hot buffet table only offers eggs Wifi works well in my room.

Review 45:One night 3 helicopters delivering patients.

Review 46:Room and breakfast were excellent. Walk to the towncenter, 40 minutes. Stavanger was more beautiful than Bergen.

Review 47:The restaurant closed at 19:00 and no other place to eat was in walking distance.

Review 48:adequate size of room not too hot

Review 49:location and the attitude of receptionist

Review 50:the room size

Review 51:Everything was better than expected) breakfest was great, if you need - you can use kithcen!

Review 52:No free parking nearby

Review 53:staff help, good breakfast included in the room rate

Review 54:cost of the carpark

Review 55:value for money

Review 56:We booked a double room but they gave us a single small room with an unconfortable supplement bed

Review 57:Breakfast

Review 58:No free parking

Review 59:Small misunderstanding with receptionists regarding late check-out - but was solved

Review 60:Comfortable rooms nicely furnitured, good breakfast, cleanliness

Review 61:need to take 5 mins (half hour if add waiting time) bus to hotel

Review 62:Hotel is budget friendly in a very expensive city

Review 63:poor bed

Review 64:excellent team at the reception

Review 65:Could be cheaper

Review 66:Breakfast, beds, shower

Review 67:Rooms stink like hospital.

Review 68:Nothing

Review 69:Value for money was excellent. Staff were very kind, room was very comfortable and clean. Had a nice walk into town center. Tnks

Review 70:reception的职员不够热情,而且方向感很糟,每次问路都指错方向。

Review 71:酒店是医院所属的,设施很不错,房间很大,WiFi很好。酒店外面就有车站搭大巴去机场,交通便利。

Review 72:room is clean and WiFi is good

Review 73:The staff was very friendly and helpful. Everything was perfect.

Review 74:breakfast

Review 75:You get used after a while that the Hotel is placed in a hospital.

Review 76:Easy and cheap parking Nice clean room

Review 77:OMGG

Review 78:nothing this is hospital and not hotel. OMGGGG

Review 79:Small rooms for 4 beds. It is in a hospital. Breakfast is poor.

Review 80:Quiet.

Review 81:We think that the hotell should let the people know the bus No 4 and 11 can reach the hotel on its information site.

Review 82:mediocre reception staffs - not attentive, doesn't care, charge bill twice...

Review 83:good value for money (for norway)

Review 84:all good

Review 85:Watching patients smoking...nothing to do with the hotel!

Review 86:Location. Price. Comfort.

Review 87:Breakfast and facilities. Everything was good

Review 88:The staff could smile more, otherwise they look stunningly beautiful.

Review 89:Pretty much everything.

Review 90:we were told we could not have a family room for the 3 of us as daughter too old and had to get two rooms , but our room was filled with 5 single beds and no space. not run like a hotel more just support for families of hospital patients.helicopter for medical transport is next to hotel and often takes off a few days or nights.would not consider staying there again.patients stand outside entranceway smoking in hospital gowns and medical equipment attached.should have a seperate hotel entrance and desk.fine for patient support unit only.

Review 91:not a lot as part of hospital and no support from staff but a short bus ride to city centre.

Review 92:Helicopter of the hospital

Review 93:The receiptionist was very cool and gave us many advice. Breakfast was really great ! Everything were cool, but be aware that the hotel is attached to an hostpital.

Review 94:Helicopter landing at the hospital a couple of times a day, it got a bit noisy, so had to sleep with earplugs.

Review 95:Good value for money, nice breakfast selection.

Review 96:The only weaknesses I found were three: 1) St Svithun's location is a 31 NOK ticket each way from Stavanger’s Central Business District or a 25-minute walk; 2) my room came with a small, non-HD flat screen TV. For 500+ NOK/night, the room should have an HD TV in 2014; and 3) a microwave oven in the room would have been ideal.

Review 97:A decent hostel and room, excellent WiFi and breakfast that included great breads, fresh fruit, a variety of yogurts and much more. There is also a convenient supermarket just a couple streets away.

Review 98:Far from the town center, bus station, ferry terminal (7 bus stop to thecenter). Expensive bus tickets. For taking early bus to Preikestolen orKjeragbolten, we need to take taxi to the town center. Bus working hoursafter 9.00am

Review 99:Everything were prefect. Nothing to complaint about.

Review 100:Staff is very rude. We booked two large rooms with four beds. When we checked-in they gave small room with two single beds and the put one extra bed at the door which blocked the door and we can't even enter into the room. When we asked us to move us to the larger rooms which we reserved, she was rude and asked us to leave if we don't like it. I also didn't like is hotel rooms and hospital rooms are interconnected. I wish they separate the rooms and block patients coming into the hotel rooms.

Review 101:Facility is clean and not too far from the city center.

Review 102:At first you expect a nurse to come in and check your temperature but once you get past the fact that it is attached to the hospital it becomes a very comfortable accommodation for a night or two. Excellent clean, comfortable and very quite.

Review 103:The parking is very expensive and the hotel is inside an hospital, quite surprisingly.

Review 104:The rooms are very clean and the beds are quite confortable. The breakfast is okay

Review 105:Front entrance can be busy as it is shared with hospital

Review 106:Well priced with good access to public transport into city and taxis. Cafe convenient and open long hours

Review 107:It is basically in the hospital so you share the lobby, lift and restaurant with patients and visitors. I was hoping for a quiet hotel bar but this was not possible.

Review 108:kind of weird its combined with hospital.... but its OK, nice and clean

Review 109:10 mins bus drive from train station, nice staff, decent breakfast, clean room, awesome place

Review 110:The WiFi is present, but basically never works so they should remove it altogether as it only frustrates more when it is there, you can connect, but signal strength and speed are too slow for anything!

Review 111:Extremely well located for visitors of the hospital

Review 112:It's the official hotel of an Hospital. It's very handy if you are recovered, but you may feel like recovered.

Review 113:Price and Breakfast. Breakfast was good and healty

Review 114:Parking is 120 NOK/night, consider that before booking the hotelIt's attached to the hospital, hotel feels and smells like ahospital a lot of mummies with their newborns in the cafeteria duringbreakfast No hairdryer in the bedroom Very poor wifi connection Poorlocation (not good if you are walking) Stuff not providing enough helpand information

Review 115:Breakfast was nice Smart deal budget-wise Room was clean and facilitieswell maintained, except WiFi (see negative feedback)

Review 116:The trauma heli might keep others awake, not me however, slept like a rose. Because of the hospital location, parking costs add up the already pricy stay (but it's Norway, so what'd you expect..)

Review 117:I was very happy with their "breakfast-to-go" service, I had to check out at 4 o' clock, and the receptionist checked me out quickly and supplied me with the breakfast bag. (And offered me a free coffee from the machine, great coffee!) Actually, the fact that there is a hospital on the same premises is no factor, because the elevator requires the roomkey to go up to the hotel floors. WiFi works great! Video streaming great! Thanks for that!

Review 118:Hotel is linked to a hospital. Clean, comfortable rooms considering thisis mainly for hospital related visitors. Staff was very friendly andhelpful. Problems with wifi in my room were solved by changing room thesecond day and a finacial compensation!

Review 119:I found it was a little too far from the down town area.

Review 120:I liked the breakfast in the morning.. there were lots of choices. The cafeteria was open quite long hours from 7am to 10am so i didn't feel rushed to eat and leave in the morning.

Review 121:The hotel is about a 30 min walk out of town. It's part of Stavanger hospital and the atmosphere is more hospital than hotel i.e. there are newborn babies at breakfast, people in nightwear and patients smoking outside the entrance. Breakfast is extremely basic - and be warned, the coffee is only free to residents until 10.00, after which a very miserable staff member insists you pay NOK25 for another cup even though you are still eating your breakfast! Not at all impressive. The room does not have a hairdryer - you have to ask for one at reception and hope they have one free. Overall, if it's budget hotel you're after over a weekend then fine, if you want to relax, this isn't the place to be. The connection to the hospital should be more clearly stated!

Review 122:The hotel's weekend rate was very good but as we arrived around 1 a.m. on a Friday because of our flights the rate for that night at £100 was steep! Basic but clean and tidy rooms. The staff were generally very friendly but one receptionist was extremely offhand and unhelpful when we asked directions into town.

Review 123:It was hard to find We were directed to park the car "over there in the parking house". Well be careful because there are two parking houses and one tells you in Norwegian that it is for staff only and so we got fined!! Noise from helicopters ...

Review 124:Good breakfast Funny to share facilities with mothers and their new babies and sick people but it is a hospital. A great trip to the pulpit rock - took 6 hours but worth it!

Review 125:again it was not a problem with us, but the hotel is located next to the hospital which is a bit disturbing :)

Review 126:the hotel was cheap and clean, the staff was friendly. it is located relatively far from the town centre (20 min on foot), but it was not a problem with us.

Review 127:Very basic. It is supposed to have A/c, ours didn't seem to work. So our room was over 28 degrees at night. Restaurant was expensive £10 for a baked potato. Staff had been cleaning the rooms everyday, but the 5th they left a note saying they expected us to take the sheets off the bed and then didn't leave any clean towel after they took the dirty ones away. It seemed to be more like a youth hostel rather than a hotel. I guess that reflects in the price. You also right next to the landing pad for the helicopters.

Review 128:Easy to get to centre of town via the local bus service. Good Breakfast Buffet.

Review 129:Our stay at St. Svithun was a complete disaster, it ruined part of our trip to Norway: We booked for two days. The first night at our arrival, they told us that there had been a mistake and we couldn't sleep (we are a couple) in the same bedroom. They gave us two single bedrooms. Mine wasn't clean enough, there was a glass for water without the seal, and there was some hair in the shower. It was late and I needed to sleep so I didn´t complain, as they told us the next morning we would have our bedroom (for two), ready. At the next morning, nobody at the reception knew anything about it. We told a receptionist the problem we had last night, she write it down and told us we would have the room ready for the evening. We left all of our baggage in a single room so that they could clean the other one up. At the evening, when we came back from The Pulpit we found that all our baggage was left at the reception. Nobody knew who had slept the last night in our bedrooms or from whom the baggage was. They, indeed, gave us then a bedroom for two and we slept moderately well the next night. Don't forget: - It´s not a hotel, it's a hospital in which some rooms are rented for a hotel use. - It's far away from the center of the city (there is a bus which takes you there) - When you check in they take away from your credit card a deposit, in case you don´t pay, but they don´t tell. Once you have checked out and payed, the deposit is returned to your bank, but it takes 4 or 5 days (in our case). When we returned home, the deposit still wasn´t payed yet.

Review 130:It feels more like a hostel than an hotel. You need to make your own bed, they won't clean while you're there and the room was missing some vacuuming.

Review 131:Nice breakfast and price, the airport shuttle tops right at the hotel. It's actually in a hospital, having breakfast with a dozen of new-borns was quite different and fun.

The Fine Print

St. Svithun Hotell has direct access to Stavanger University Hospital and is the official patient hotel for the hospital.
