Reviews for Hotel Convent - Hotel & Resort Adria Ankaran

Review 1:A beautiful building, sympathetically converted to a hotel. Rooms spacious and comfortable. Swimming pool a real bonus, fantastic value for money, a must stay

Review 2:Its a nice hotel but it is not what it is advertised for - I wasexpecting a bit of luxury in a 4 star monastery but what we got was justvery average room, average food, average design, etc, So it's ok buthugely overpriced. For 158 eur per night Iyou can get much more inhotels all over Europe.

Review 3:The staff was very friendly and they helped me with changing myreservation last minute.

Review 4:This hotel is the center of a big camping-entertainment-swimming pool complex. I have truly never seen so incredibly unfriendly staff (reception personnel excluded), but well, maybe the other guests (which were equally unfriendly) like it that way. We haven't been greeted back once, and we tried several times. Cleaning staff did not change towels or empty toilet paper rolls, but did manage to unplug the minibar at 35° outside. Twice. The included breakfast buffet had the ambiance and smell of a bad summer camp. We skipped it after day one. At least there had been signs of attempts to do well. Our last evening we wanted a last drink at the hotel bar. The barkeeper turned away from me, mumbling "Yes, please", and continued cleaning tablets, just to repeat it louder after I stood there, baffled. Note that this did not happen at 5am, we are talking about ordering around 9pm. I won't go into detail about other facilities there, let's just say dinner (hands away from the "greek salad") or cocktail quality matches other impressions. I'm quite well-traveled in all price classes, and yes, this was high season, which would excuse some of above points - but this was plainly unacceptable.

Review 5:The building was old and atmospheric. Reception staff reasonably nice and competent.

Review 6:Crowded caravan park. Mass produced food (not 4*). Looked forward to use of 50m pool: not stated on internet that it is in middle of a caravan park, payment required and only open from 9am.

Review 7:Monastery building.

Review 8:The Food is not 4 stars, it was an absolute Horror to see the staff moving around with "canteen trolleys" and the remark "fish can´t be done well for 200 People" - well then leave it.

Review 9:The Hotel itself is very nice. The rooms are a Little bit outdated. The "beach" is nice but then again you share everything with the camp ground users.

Review 10:Probably once a nice hotel but looking a bit tired. The website is very misleading, it suggests its a boutique hotel with its own pool but when you get there its a campsite complex with canteen style dining. At the entrance to the hotel you drive past a gypsy looking 'fun fair' that looks really tacky. I would sum this hotel up as very confused. A four star hotel that is trying to offer luxury but filled with the opposite type of clientele.

Review 11:The pool was good, if you get there for 9am you can get a lounger as it gets much busier later on. After we checked out of the hotel they allowed us to keep our pool wrist bands to gain access to the pool facilities as our flights was in the afternoon.

Review 12:nothing of what is indicated on booking.com does not correspond to reality. It's a nicely restored building in the middle of the camp without a private beach, wellness is common to all guests of the camp outside the building and is paid extra, the rooms are tiny with small windows in them hot, no lift and I think it four stars are mildly lie

Review 13:The hotel is surrounded by a tent and caravan site. The breakfast and dinner was very canteen style. The ensuite had missing shower screen on bath.

Review 14:The appearance of the main part of the hotel was good and the swimming pool was not busy if there by 9am.

Review 15:Wifi sucked And the Heat in my room didn't work

Review 16:Location and hotel

Review 17:location ,

Review 18:beautiful building

Review 19:the beach is not the nicest

Review 20:Nince green park with playground, great pools

Review 21:The waiter who served us during the dinners - we had the same waiter all evenings - was odious, unfriendly.

Review 22:small room

Review 23:free parking and free wi-fi, good breakfast, nice beach

Review 24:It's a 4 star hotel with poor 2 star service. Partly hotel. & partly camp site just doesn't work. They cater for campers & try & charge a la carte prices. It's not good. Certainly wouldn't go back. Thankfully just stayed 1 night.

Review 25:The building & the room were good.

Review 26:Dirty , poor service, position not value for money

Review 27:To keep a good reputation Booking most Check proply and give all correct information to the customer !

Review 28:according to austrian "expectations" we would give this hotel only 2 or max 3 stars. hotel is surrounded by a camping place and the "beach" is simply a beton front with a "romantic" view on Koper - an industrial harbour with docks and kranes, and one can see the mud and dirt in the water. to swim in the sea is not very inviting - but this is not the fault of the hotel. the indoor swimming pool is not in the same building but very near. it is not really a problem - but it is not mentioned in the description. the restaurant offers rather average food and service - far away from any 'star' ... maybe this was because we were there completely out of season ... ? at breakfast instant-coffee from an automat (but it could be worser) ... rooms are ok - only we had a bathroom with bathtub and hand shower - what means you have to keep it in hand - no fixation - and not even a shower curtain ... all in all it reminds more to a 4star camping place than a 4star hotel.

Review 29:employees are very friendly and helpful and at least try their best to keep an image as if they are a 4 star hotel. the pictures in the presentation are real - you get exactly what you see. the building is a former monastery. we were happy to be there in october as it was very quiet and still warm (22 celsius) and we got a special promotion price. the location is comfortable to reach within 30 min by car Piran/Portoroz, or Triest, Lipica, Skocjan Caves, Castle Miramar, or Croatia/Istria.

Review 30:Location - next to camping ground, neglected surroundings, poorbreakfast offer.

Review 31:Room was clean and both receptionists very friendly. Also we had anice experience at breakfast - young lady in charge was very niceand helpful.

Review 32:Bedroom somewhat small. Absence of elevator or proper porter service a problem for older guests.

Review 33:Very pleasant setting. Interesting and historic building, helpful staff, close to places of interest. Good breakfast and excellent a la carte dinner, very good local wines.

Review 34:We were not aware that the hotel is located inside a vast trailer park with all the corresponding people and their customs. We did not set foot in the sea due to the concrete beach. It ain't pretty. Cannot recommend.

Review 35:Stayed for 4 nights for the recent Slovenia v Scotland football game innearby Koper. Found the Hotel Convent an excellent choice. At this timeof year the nearby campsite was closed so staying here off season youhad the pick of the ample amenities that the hotel/resort had to offer. Was more than happy with the food available at the hotel even though Imissed breakfast on a couple of occaisions!!!. All in all I wouldreccomend this hotel at this time of year.

Review 36:The hotel was beautiful and peaceful, and the staff were excellent. Thegrounds were wonderful and an ideal place to sip a cold beer on a warmafternoon, even in February!

Review 37:Friendly staff, great surrounding, very good kitchen.

Review 38:indoor pool is out of hotel- distance cca.20m, camping place in area

Review 39:indoor pool with warm sea water, free parking, good breakfast, silence

Review 40:nice place, nice views of the bay in 20 meters, good breakfast

Review 41:Standard bedroom too small and crowded. No elevator to upper floor, too many stairs.

Review 42:Spacious public areas and garden.

Review 43:Horrible.

Review 44:Comfortable, convenient and with attentive staff.

The Fine Print
