Reviews for Camino Real El Paso

Review 1:changed to 3 different rooms because one had no hot water , tv did not work , heater was overused in the whole building and was not enough to reach my room.

Review 2:location

Review 3:Extremely loud rock music in lobby/bar area, nearly impossible to talk with front desk reservations...definitely the wrong ambiance for this elegant property...the management should know better!

Review 4:Very elegant historic hotel; comfortable, quiet rooms and suites.

Review 5:I have traveled all over the United States but never have I been to a more friendly atmosphere in my entire life I enjoyed my stay there and I recommend it I highly recommend it had a very very good time thank you

Review 6:room facilities are outdated, IT looks very dirty no matter how hard you clean. staff of canteen at cash out table is somehow very rude.

Review 7:location is perfect. free breakfast is a plus. service is a plus.

Review 8:At 5:30 am I requested a luggage cart to my room, I told them I was in a hurry to leave by 6 am after 15 minutes I went down and the desk associate didn't even have it there yet I had to wait for him to go get it and then had to carry out to my room on my own.

Review 9:Needs better security or watchman entering and exiting parking garage

Review 10:The hotel and being able to be on 15 the floor to look at the lights of EP at night and sunrise

Review 11:the on site parking garage is small - obviously not an easy improvement. I chose to park at another garage as a result.

Review 12:the ambiance - the room, the city and the bar (The Dome) appealed to my creative sensibilities as well as my comfort expectations.

Review 13:Amazing location and feeling of history. Rooms are nice and have vintage furniture. Tiffany' dome over the restaurant is a true masterpiece and I couldn't get my eyes off it

Review 14:Every employee we encountered had a condescending and rude attitude. The room was out of date (old, uncomfortable bed; old bathroom fixtures; old tv). The parking garage was poorly marked. The elevator was incredibly slow. The late-night food & drink options in the surrounding area were pretty much non-existent and there were only two soda vending machines to be found in the hotel.

Review 15:We were in town to attend a concert at the Abraham Chavez Theater and this hotel was the most convenient to that location.

Review 16:Due to age, there were cracks in the sink, and the outlet near the bed was broken.

Review 17:The location was great. The room was really comfortable and large, but the beds could use updating. I also really liked the Bath and Body Works products in the bathroom. The room was very quiet as well. I would stay here again.

Review 18:Lots of noise late at night we could hear clearly in our room. El Paso in general was quite boring with not much to do

Review 19:The beds were comfy and the hotel reception staff were great

Review 20:Hotel rooms are in dire need of refurbishing. Lumpy, lopsided beds, old, fuzzy, tube tv's and wireless never did work. The lobby is presentable and the restaurant is sufficient enough for a quick breakfast. Webpage does not reflect the true condition of this very tired old hotel.

Review 21:Great location in the downtown area close to the border with reasonable parking on site.

Review 22:Disappointing. I always prefer to stay in historic hotels, but the Camino Real has left most of its history behind. Facilities, amenities need upgrading. You can do that without losing your history.

Review 23:The dome bar is lovely. Food and service was great in La Huerta & room service. The towels were very high quality - large & thick.

Review 24:My only complaint was the awful band they had playing at the bar on Saturday night. My party felt like giving a standing ovation when they quit playing. A little more quality control is recommended.

Review 25:I've always loved staying at the Camino Real. Great location and bar.

Review 26:Beds were worn out, Bathroom door knob fell off, found a roach in the bathtub, AC leaked in the door entry to the room, and shower head need to be replaced because it was clogged.

Review 27:The lobby and bar was so beautiful!!

Review 28:The hotel is old and dirty. No matter how much they clean the hotel just will not ever get clean. This hotel needs a renovation.

Review 29:We made reservation for 4 night stay. We looked at hotel and room and didn't stay. I do not recommend this hotel for any reason.

Review 30:There was a strong smell of mustyness. Requested a room with a single bed when I made the reservation and got a room with two double beds. Everything was very old and outdated.

Review 31:Location was ok

Review 32:I thought the hotel could use some updating. They had tube type tvs instead of flat screens, the showers didn't work that great, and the air conditioner in my room froze me, and in a room a friend of mine had it was like a sauna.

Review 33:The location was going because it was walking distance to the civic center where I bowled in a tournament.

Review 34:Sewer backed up into tub. Carpet needs replaced due to stained lookeddirty carpet. Offered free breakfast, was still charged. Rude, Rude,Rude people!!!!

Review 35:Location

Review 36:Was quoted one price ended up paying the full price of $146 a day. Stayed at the hotel back in 2010 and was impressed. Not this year. Staff were rude.

Review 37:Walking distance to the Convention Center

Review 38:I recieved no perks as a bowler in town. No discount on room, bowlrs only pd 109. Recieced no free breakfast at hotel café which bowlers recieved free.

Review 39:My son and I traveled to El Paso, to see my daughter graduate from Texas Tech, Paul L. Foster School of Medicine. The hotel was across the street from the Plaza Theater, where the graduation was being held. We were able to walk across the street. Cafe Central was where we were meeting for dinner, after the ceremony. This was also within walking distance. There was no need to rent a car!

Review 40:Older hotel lacking in outlets for your devices. Still using tube televisions.

Review 41:Conveniently located downtown within walking distance of convention center. Metro system can get you where you want to go for not a lot of money.

Review 42:We were told we would get a discount with AARP.Then we were told at the hotel, when paying our bill no we couldn't,we thought we should have been compensated for that, not our mistake.

Review 43:They overbooked the hotel and we were stuck with 2 rollaway beds in our room. They had to put us in a King suite. I believe I made my reservations 2 months or more in advance. Very poor reserving. I had to pay the same price for my room, should have discounted it down for the inconvenience.

Review 44:Staff and Cleanliness

Review 45:Breakfest not included in my package. My wife does not eat a big breakfest but cost is the same. Must say I explained this to cashier, she did not charge me for last 2 days

Review 46:Location near conference centre and center of town. Shuttle service. Understanding staff.

Review 47:Internet was lacking. We came before the pool was open. The cost of drinks were too high.

Review 48:A beautiful hotel. Comfortable, and relaxing. The buffets were wonderful and budgetary

Review 49:Breakfast was not great. Coffee machine in Executive club room was broken - we got upgraded, but I wouldn't pay extra for the executive rooms.

Review 50:Having read the reviews, we were a bit wary of staying here, but it was totally fine. Very handy for downtown museums, restaurants etc. very large room, if a bit dated. Nice bar.

Review 51:Right in the center of old El Paso, we never needed a car. Music venue Tricky Falls, a good range of restaurants and the new Triple A ballpark are in walking distance. Our room was very clean and comfortable. The air conditioning worked well, important in this border town even in April.

Review 52:I woke up in the morning and I had been bitten by bedbugs! I had five bites! The staff greeting us the prior afternoon looked unprofessional, their clothes did not look very clean or nice for a front desk person in a nice hotel. The nail polish of both young ladies was chipped and very unprofessional. I should have known then that the hotel was not good.

Review 53:the location of the hotel was good

Review 54:In the room was the old style CRT type television. These have inferior picture quality and generate x-rays. You really should upgrade.

Review 55:Location, decoration, comfort and convenience.

Review 56:Just awful, quality is atrocious everything is penny pinching and the place is in dire need of some money and love injecting. HINT - Do NOT bother with the executive lounge, save your money it's just not worth it and if you complain about it they do absolutely nothing.

Review 57:fabulous architecture, great location for downtown, theatre, entertainments and baseball park

Review 58:Staff is very helpful near shopping & events. Restroom need a little update but overall this place is nice. In my next trip I would definitely stay here or recommend to friends & family

Review 59:Bathroom was in need of repair and cleaning. The elevators were dirty and the air smelled bad.

Review 60:The wonderfully cordial Mexican woman who was always busy sweeping or scrub-mopping somewhere with a warm smile and a heart felt "good morning". She was awesome . . . . . Reminded me of how Americans used to be.

Review 61:The service was great all around. Easy check in check out. The bar is beautiful, you must enjoy a drink there during your stay. Hotel has cool historic feel to it.

Review 62:My big complaint was the Air conditioning not working at all. Arrived in the room and it was hot,no big deal as they turn the unit's off when nobody is in the room. We left for the night only to return to an even hotter room. Called downstairs and they sent someone to check out the problem. All they did was turn the hot water off that goes through the coils and said it would get cool. No luck! Wake up in the morning and it's miserable. Call downstairs and they move us to the room right next door, saying the cooling should work in this room. Wrong! Leave for the day a day come back to the same thing. They offered us free breakfast on the 8th floor which is just juices and cereal. Not much of a comp with a hotel that has two restaurants in it. Upgrade the AC unit's and I'll go back.

Review 63:Location was great. Lots to do near by and in walking distance.

Review 64:Bar area is nice, the buffet in the small cafe, looked real bad at dinner,so i went to Anson Restaurant for dinner....My room had a window that wouldn't close ,one had no screen and my bath tub had dark brown water come .out into the tub when i turned the water on...Yes..I. Know I'm on the likes ,cuz..if i wrote it on dislikes ypu wouldn't have read this.....Thank you Marilyn Arnold Rm.#was 1101

Review 65:They lost my reservation, the room was lacking basic amenities in bathroom, for the price and the rating of the hotel, I would expect the room to be in tip-top shape. I've stayed there before, and I feel I was given a "leftover" room with no compensation for their error in losing my reservation.

Review 66:The location for facilitating my business travel to Mexico, the free airport shuttle, the courtesy of the desk staff late at night when I arrived.

Review 67:Breakfast buffet goes kinda 'stale' after 7:30 as nothing is heated or replenished. :-( Other than that.....nothing to complain about.

Review 68:hotel is quiet, clean and safe in a great location to enjoy historic el paso and shops near mexico. Breakfast buffet is good first thing when the restaurant opens. Variety and healthy choices as well. A waitress there went out of the way for my mom and that meant alot to her....and me. :-)

Review 69:The hotel still bas box spring beds, needs to be updated.

Review 70:Clean, historic feel with modern amenties. Parking is below hotel with elevators that go directly to your floor.

Review 71:The restaurant off of the lobby wasn't really up to par. The food was just okay for the value, and the serving staff were inexperienced. Nice, but inexperienced. They kept forgetting about us, and we were almost the only customers in the restaurant.

Review 72:The fact that it is an historic hotel, and has so much character. The front desk staff and the bartenders were the best!

Review 73:Felt rushed by one barman to make a decision on the wine while I just leisurely wanted to explore and decide.

Review 74:Everything absolutely lovely, bed cosy, reception all friendly and helpful, lovely be able to sit in bar comfortably and enjoy music, the first bar I could enjoy a glass of wine followed by lots of glasses of water and not feel pressured by sitting alone in a bar or to have another alcoholic drink. Great fun.

Review 75:Ice machine broken on my floor, had to go down a floor, not the end of the world!

Review 76:They let you smoke!!! Fantastic shuttle service saved me over $50 and very friendly staff

Review 77:Bathroom was pretty awful, in need of renovation and the room although large smelt musty and of smoke.

Review 78:I was not aware there was a pool until the end of my stay. It would have been nice to be told where exactly everything was when I checked in.

Review 79:The views were incredible. The location was nice. Close to everything.

Review 80:Old shower controls not functional, Old CRT TV with menu that didn't work, no guide in room for tv or hotel facilities, wi-fi not secure, no refrigerator in room, dining room closed at 9:00 p.m. with no sign about hours.

Review 81:Location, ambience in bar/lounge area

Review 82:I have stayed here before and enjoy returning to this historic hotel. The surrounding area has been rejuvenated and it was really enjoyable to walk around and explore. We liked the life of the area.

Review 83:the location was great

Review 84:Everything service and personal

Review 85:classic but outdated facility

Review 86:Great location. The Dome Bar is truly fantastic. Rooms were comfortable. WIFI worked great.

Review 87:Breakfast is not very good quality

Review 88:Kind of a old room. Need new carpets. Old bathroom.

Review 89:Central location

Review 90:It was a smart hotel in a downtown location

Review 91:I have no complains

Review 92:In loved this hotel.. the staff is very friendl . The building is very clean

Review 93:Employee service in restaurant was poor.

Review 94:The restaurant with no menu options only buffet at a very expensive price. Not friendly

Review 95:Location and appearance was super!!

Review 96:N/A

Review 97:We really liked everything and everyone. I would enjoy staying there every time we visit El Paso.

Review 98:facilities are not maintained, musty smell, old mattress (tag was dated 1997), old tv's(no flat screen), nothing to do downtown

Review 99:Didn't

Review 100:This is by far the best hotel in El paso

Review 101:The charge for parking was not advertised well, and not mentioned at check-in.

Review 102:The room was comfortable and well furnished.

Review 103:arrived at 13.55, had to wait in foyer until 15.00 no exceptions until check in time

Review 104:nothing special

Review 105:for being so expensive hotel had old televisions... Just not worth it

Review 106:View and location

Review 107:Had to tell the front disk that my room didn't get cleaned.

Review 108:It was convenient to what I was there for.

Review 109:Not having refrigerator/microwave included in price

Review 110:I couldn't get a military discount

Review 111:the breakfast was great

Review 112:Not being able to check in till 3 we arrived at 2:15. Asked for a wake up call at 7 AM got it at 7:20 AM

Review 113:Close to where I needed to go.

Review 114:well, the closed windows.

Review 115:Great location, great facilities

Review 116:First of all the computers were down & had to wait 20 min to che k in. Restroom had huge leak. Room smelled bad

Review 117:Check-in was a nightmare..nite manager did not know how to operate the system....

Review 118:Proximity

Review 119:I really expected more from room service.

Review 120:I liked the staff. They were gracious and kind.

Review 121:Bed left something to be desired.

Review 122:Location next to convention center is very convenient, just steps away. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful.

Review 123:For the money it could of been better hotel was not keeper up its out dated need to invest money in up dating bathroom paint carpet.

Review 124:Location was good

Review 125:in room 19" CRT TV, needs updated to larger flat screen.

Review 126:Short walk to convention center, and downtown shops. Close to freeway.

Review 127:Parking was supposed to have been free, but I was charged $6.00
